Lots of pinching and biting here too. He looks so delighted with himself too.

LadyThompson · 17/11/2010 15:39

Yes! Grrrr.

LadyThompson · 17/11/2010 15:39

Reckon that's my most succint post ever.

traceface · 17/11/2010 15:58

Lady we've used the naughty step here - in fact we did this morning. P was refusing to let me dress her (she had already been fully dressed but then climbed into the bath which was wet from my shower, so got wet and needed a change of clothes 2 minutes before we should leave for school!) She was being so awkward I put her in naughty corner then after that shje lay still and let me dress her Smile Result.
And yes re mortgage we have just last week lengthened the term to reduce the monthly payments. Not the ideal plan but we have to think about here and now. And we could always reduce the term back if there are some flying pigs we find ourselves in an easier situation in the future.

JamInMyWellies · 17/11/2010 16:39

Yep here too with the hitting and pinching and scratching. I was putting him in time out then I realised he was actually doing it more. So I know completely ignore it when he does it to me as I think it was an attention thing, but if he does it to DS1 time out it is.

Trace so pleased you went to the Dr's. There is nothing wrong with asking for help.

Well we too have just been to the quacks. DS2 is confirmed hand foot and mouth, grr. She reckons it was prob what was wrong with DS1 over the weekend. Apparantley the spots will clear up over the next 48 hrs or so. Would it be terrible wrong of me not to tell my DSIS otherwise I fear their may be an almighty row with her about us going to Scotland and the possibility that we may infect her. Although saying that we did hang out with her and her DD last wk so its possible she is the one that passed it on to us. The Dr did say that there was nothing you can do about it. Its a viral infection so no need to quarentine us.

right I wrote that about an hr ago so apologies for the inevitable cross posts.

VagolaJahooli · 17/11/2010 18:46

Jam hand foot & mouth is quite harmless as far as infections go I wouldn't worry too much really, its infectious period was more likely to be last week anyway.

I've had a lazy mum afternoon. I feel really crappy with this cold, and have had to cancel my night out. Have watched TV and movies all afternoon, gave DS2 fruit & nut toast for lunch with muesli biscuits. Both boys has fish fingers and pizza for tea. In my defence tea was partially inspired by a need to consume the defrosting freezer contents.

Hilarious thing though, DS2 turned his nose up at the GF & pizza, but got quite excited when I presented him with some steamed brocolli, carrot & beans as an alternative. He then turned down a nutella sandwich (DS1's pudding of choice tonight) for a small.tin of mixed fruit cocktail!

VagolaJahooli · 17/11/2010 18:52

GF! I meant FF, meaning fish fingers. Im not in the habit of feeding parenting 'gurus' to my children, however much I may disagree with them.

Beans33 · 17/11/2010 19:10

Jam, I'd be tempted not to say anything, but then I am terribly duplicitous. But if it saves a row then do it!

Trace - well done grabbing bull by horns and getting it sorted. I do admire you for recognising the problem and managing it.

DH back from Dublin tonight. Only been gone one night but am looking forward to having him in bed with me to help manage the walking!

Has anyone seen 'Paranormal Activity'? If not, please don't watch it. It is the most scary film I've ever seen and even DH is still terrified by it, months later! The 2nd one is out and even thinking about it gives me the willies. Dear god, what am I shuffling on about. Rubes, I am your rival to the Throne of Witter!

Bleat bleat.

No violence here, but endless screaming or whining if she doesn't get what she wants. It's such a horrible noise and it drives me insane!!!

I have mirena coil.

Right, chicken stirfry. Am ravening!

Beans33 · 17/11/2010 19:14

PS 'duplicitous' - another brilliant word from me. I am a veritable word guru today.

Vag, DD1 eats loads of FFs. She loves them and would rather she ate something than nothing! Her pudding was an Ella's kitchen baby pouch and a mini fudge bar. Yummy! But not a good diet!

Rubena · 17/11/2010 19:36

Jam, I meant to say earlier I totally appreciated your story about traitor dog the other day! Our lives sound so very similar at times!

Vag, def allowed to have days like that in fact I think it should be mandatory! Oh and no worried about the groin lump feedback, I know my posts are so rambly and long winded plus many of them at times so it's inevitable the important bits I do say will get overlooked! I will go to the GP soon if it doesn't deflate.

Beans thought you got rid of the coil? You can happily take over from me on the rambling thing, however I think when it's in the blood it's out of our control so I'm probably going to have trouble reining it in! Poor Lady has to put up with it in person tomorrow Grin Oh and "Audacity" used to be my favourite word. My dad always totally over used it when he was telling us off as kids so I always wanted to use it as soon as I knew how which I learnt very early! it was my first "big word"!

Well both kiddies in bed. Since we've started all eating together at the table, ds will only eat hot dinner if we are too Hmm but tonight he ate steamed salmon, broccoli carrot and cous cous so I'm very pleased about the big furniture move around. if dh not home early enough it doesn't really work though.

Right guess who I get to meet tomorrow!! The lovely babyladyD - can't wait Grin

SummerLightning · 17/11/2010 19:42

I was pleased that ds ate fish fingers tonight! Til he started picking the fish out and just eating the coating that is. He doesn't normally eat them. He wouldn't touch the carrots or baked beans though.

'veritable' as well beans. Plus ravening, is that a real word? IPad thinks it is at any rate.

God i am so fed up of ds's CARRY CARRY. then i carry him and he scratches and punches my face. Bloody charming. Dh been away the past 3 nights looking forward to him getting back!

Beans you make me laugh.

Sorry you are feeling rubbish vag

Rubena · 17/11/2010 19:49

Just read that back and want to say I don't mean to sound boastful about ds's dinner eating tonight at all - he has been atrocious of late, and the only thing that makes him hook into his dinner is if he's eating it with us at the table and we kind of ignore him etc or better still play a game where we go around the room saying "where's the..... light, computer, telly, mummy's wine" etc and he points to it all which kind of distracts him and he eats without noticing it really!

Rubena · 17/11/2010 19:51

Ugh, still didn't make my point - I was suggesting to those with toddlers not eating much to give it a try (if not already)! as ds used to eat fine and lately he's been refusing flatly unless we are all eating together.
I'm destined to ramble forever.....

SummerLightning · 17/11/2010 20:20

Seems to be the opposite for us rubes. Think it might be cos he's tired by the time dh is home after 6. Good idea though i think it is on our list of strategies to try eating together several evenings a week. Having said that ds did start eating fish pie at the weekend when he saw his 18 month old cousin shovelling it in. I want to borrow his cousin! He is th e worlds best eater, I am very Envy. My sil is quite stressy about food for him still though. I hope she doesn't have a fussy eater if she has another kid or she will implode from stress!

Aha i am rambling now. Rubes am also Envy of your ds's eating at the meal too!

JollyBear · 17/11/2010 20:21

Hello peeps,

urbane DH ate nothing but bacon plus bananas, jam or marmite sandwiches until well into his teenage years. Weird that bacon was one of your DH's permitted foods too! Actually it should be reassuring to anyone with a fussy eater that DH now eats pretty much anything and is over 6ft tall. You'd never believe he used to eat like a bird.

trace Well done on taking action on the money and feeling down fronts. Really good news.

You asked about my kidneys, I'm not sure if it is bad luck or something to do with my condition. They were clear of any disease when I last had a special radioactive scan thing, however my immunosuppresents can cause kidney problems so it might be related to that. I'm seeing my consultant tomorrow so I may get a clearer picture then.

vag Handcuffs in the toolbox Shock. I found a picture of Jesus and DH's Young Persons Railcard from the late '90's in ours not so long ago. I was baffled! Objects that don't belong elsewhere must radiate to toolboxes.

summer DD likes to shout 'up, up' until I pick her up. Then she changes her mind and shouts 'walk, walk'. Most frustrating.

jam I'm with beans, I'd just keep quiet about it!

spot Really good to hear that the bleeding settled.

Oh and DH has managed to get a new job which is super good news as his fixed term contract was due to expire in March. Hurrah! Grin

VagolaJahooli · 17/11/2010 20:28

I know what you mean Rubes, it def helps with DS1's eating. Also I have to admit I did see the lymph thing earlier but I'm getting really crap at remembering everything I read, I usually remember stuff (like DBs DDs outstanding school report) that I wanted to comment on, when someone else mentions.

My fav word when I was a teenager was juxtaposition.

That steamed salmon broc & couscous sounds great and steaming is great just chuck it all in and done. I know DS1 would be apprehensive about the broc but he would eat the rest.

Beans I know EXACTLY the screaming noise you mean, I've sadly got that noise plus the hitting. However, I must say, otherwise he is a pleasure to be with & a really social little man. He plays really well with other kids and even has his little friends who he genuinely gets excited about seeing. As soon as we pull up outside their houses he starts calling out their name, (depending on which house it is obviously, not just random names).

LadyThompson · 17/11/2010 20:33

Well, I am looking forward to seeing you (and DD?) tomorrow v much, Rubes. I apologise in advance if O makes conversation difficult. And you didn't sound AT ALL boastful about your DS's eating. I like these tales of kids who eat stuff. Though DD1 is getting better at trying things it's true.

I am envious of all you ladies with kids who scoff fishfingers though...SL, be glad your DS eats the coating - DD1 even wouldn't touch it! Grin

Jam, I reckon it will be on its way out by the weekend so I guess probably go for it.

Hope you feel better soon, Vag. And similar to your DS2, DD1 eschewed jelly babies in favour of carrot batons.

Beans - have you always had the Mirena or did you have the metal one before? Every time I read about it it puts me off. But I am an uberwimp. I don't want the Pill either. But none of the other methods seem like goers. Sigh. Contraception is such a problem!

Effie, how's your loom? Grin

VagolaJahooli · 17/11/2010 20:35

Jolly Jesus in your toolbox did make me laugh.

Rubena · 17/11/2010 20:36

Vag - I meant to say - handcuffs! ooooh lala I feel so boring!

SL - fish pie was dh's first favourite hot meal (homemade from mil) prob cause she chocks it with bacon and lard. Don't worry, bil still doesn't eat any veggies and he's fine.

Great news for MrJolly well done.

SummerLightning · 17/11/2010 20:42

Ladyt i was to be honest! Last time I tried fish fingers was when he threw a massive strop and i put him to bed with no tea!

I am putting off contraceptive decisions too at the moment. I really don't like the idea of the coil either. I've frankly had enough of being messed around with down there having 2 kids thank you very much. The leaflet given to me by the doctor said that having it inserted may be "uncomfortable", which i have heard health professionals use to describe the pain of contractions so i am suspicious. And it said that you may need to have a local anaesthetic or something else that put me off and made it sound not entirely pain free! No thanks.
I was wondering about getting one of these long lasting implant things. Anyone tried them?

SummerLightning · 17/11/2010 20:43

I don't have Jesus or handcuffs in my toolbox i am super boring.

SummerLightning · 17/11/2010 20:46

Do you mean dh or ds rubes? I would be impressed if you know what your dh's first hot meal was!

Rubena · 17/11/2010 20:47

Lady yes I think I will bring dd barring any unforeseen hideous nights tonight. She'd love to meet D & O. No need at ALL to apol in advance for any possible meltdowns from O. as you may well remember at the pub in Oxfordshire, ds is the king of public meltdowns - no toddler can come close!

DH ditched his usual afternoon of work in London today and I got to sleep for nearly 3 hours Smile feel so much better now.

Rubena · 17/11/2010 21:01

SL - yes I meant DS! But mil keeps telling me all dh would eat was rice pudding so perhaps that was his first meal Hmm
Jesus? handcuffs? I don't even have a toolbox! However dh has enough toolboxes to make up for it and then some.

A local for the coil? Are you kidding me??? Might have to rethink. Just asked dh and he said "yes some people can find it uncomfortable" Grin It must be the first phrase they learn in med school to cover everything!!
then he went on to say "you haven't had any natural births so you may very well find it uncomfortable" there's that word again - I'm not keen Hmm dh is more concerned that it can "poke" the boy parts during the business sometimes.... Hmm

Rubena · 17/11/2010 21:03

Oh, and DH just said he uses "discomfort" a lot too - nice. Confirmed what you thought SL.
