X-posted with you Rubes. You are lucky to have such a smashing neighbour!

Kick up your heels Sybs. I am watching that film with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen. (No, not CLOSER, the brainless one that came out about a year ago).

LadyThompson · 11/11/2010 20:42

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Pk? MEMEMEMEMEMEMEME!

Rubena · 11/11/2010 20:44

Lady xposted with you. Awww it's possible and you don't have to cut wine completely. Just cut them out after 12 noon and scale down portion size (well if you are normally like me, I eat massive portions when I'm not dropping weight - well depending on the type of food involved)

I meant to add to Nolda, I do that all the time, but then I usually ask dh what he wants as its ALWAYS cycling related and there's no way I could buy it alone so he usually says can I have that for Xmas - and I go and buy it. This year I'd like to surprise him though [hmmmmmmmmm]

Oh and I also meant to ask Pingu (and say hi) where she is moving to too?

Rubena · 11/11/2010 20:46

It's a date then Lady - and who else can come? I might have a RL friend with me - would that be weird? Lets set a date for it then. Lady would you take them both to WW?

JamInMyWellies · 11/11/2010 21:05

ooh I might be up for Winter Wonderland. When were you thinking Dec is already getting fairly chocka.

I listened to BE well as much as anyone can while there are 2 squabbling children in teh background am going to go listen again. Is there a podcast I can download that has the previous eps on??

CLeaning the kitchen, the glamour. Why is my house always so freaking filthy?

Got fed up of being indoors today so took the monsters to Pizza Express for tea. Its the one place I can take them that I can garuantee (I have tried spelling that 3 different ways you will just have to put up with my shocking spelling) that they will scoff themselves silly.

PD count me in for some falling down.

Right back to it, rubbish buggering cleaning.

JamInMyWellies · 11/11/2010 21:08

Guarantee, bloody hell sorry I just have to keep going until I spell it correctly dont like using spell check.

PinguRocks · 11/11/2010 21:18

Me me me for WW depending on when you go, obviously. We are planning on moving to Harpenden on the basis of its schools and proximity to the M1 but it is v v expensive and we are currently in a pretty cheap part of SE London so not sure how it's all going to pan out.... How's the house hunting going for everyone else?

VagolaJahooli · 11/11/2010 21:27

Woohoo I've just realised I can listen to BE on my phone@

VagolaJahooli · 11/11/2010 21:30

Pingu thats a lovely offer. If Spot wants it I can contact my friends and see if we can sort a pick up date.

Rubena · 11/11/2010 21:38

Anytime you can make it Jam because I haven't met you yet! Ok lets sort out a date...

VagolaJahooli · 11/11/2010 21:56

Bugger I can't listen on my phone I forgot that i need the proxy thing to get iplayer. Oh well can listen on the main computer tomorrow. Was mystified when I read through the listen again section that I could catch up on the Armistice day silence. Wouldnt imaging that would make very interesting listening. I tried to remember the minutes silence. At 10.55 I remember then git distracted by DS2

urbanewarrior · 11/11/2010 22:34

Hello lovelies
It was bad news Sad. Am going to Drs tomorrow anyway but I think there's not much chance of this being early pg bleeding - cramps and clots (sorry TMI). So am more upset than I thought I would be. Although rational head knows that actually it's very common and usually there is good reason yadda yadda and also I was pg for a nanosecond and in olden days wouldn't really of even known for sure and we weren't even planning on having another DC still I think physiological reaction is v strong. So have been crying on my lovely DH.

We have though - decided that we will make a rational choice about DC3 in a bit when our heads have cleared.

Thanks - as ever - for your loveliness. Am really glad I told you, even though I feel like a bit of an idiot given it was only a couple of days ago.

wg prospect of listening to BE is genuinely cheering - was lying in bed thinking what I can watch to distract self and perfect. your DH is definitely delivering public service Smile

waitinggirl · 11/11/2010 22:53

oh, urbs, you poor thing. it may be common, but that doesn't stop it knocking you for six. especially when you had started getting your head around it when it was so unexpected. good idea to let your heads clear a bit - maybe the path will be clearer then??? please don't think you were an idiot for telling us - if you couldn't say it here, where could you? poor, poor lamb.

thanks to the lovely people who have listened/tried to listen to BE. i have no idea about downloading earlier series - although i do know they are releasing the first 3 series as a box set AFTER christmas. AFTER, i tell you - idiots! there was a wonderful review in the guardian for it, which focused so much on the writing, not just the performances (which are fantabulous), and it also mentioned the producing (which is also fab), but was so proud dh's crazy brain and all his hard work got recognised. because it is so funny, i think some people think it is easy. it isn't. he nearly lost his marbles writing this series. and, urbs, that's a lovely comment about delivering public service. there is a review on amazon for one of the first series where someone said they gave the cd to a friend who had just gone through a very hard time and it had really helped him/her through it. that really perked dh up.

rubes - i love your neighbour - fancy hiring her out???

LadyThompson · 11/11/2010 22:53

Sending you buckets of love, Urbane. So sorry, darling. Get lots of hugs from your DH, DS & DD xxxxxxx

waitinggirl · 11/11/2010 22:55

ps can someone remind me who rosmerta now is? i've lost track - is it deirdrebarlow, or was that the white flower? i'm lost.

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 11/11/2010 23:00

WG - comedy is the hardest thing. Harder than (say) writing a novel. I could fill Wembley with all the people who have written a fine novel in the last ten years in the Uk alone. Could fit the people who have written a superb tv sitcom (say) in the last TWENTY years in my living room!! Anyone who thinks comedy is easy is a twit. Obviously my DH was also of this view.

LadyThompson · 11/11/2010 23:04

Last post as I am in bed on me phone. Rosmerta became Tilly and doesn't post any more. DB was of course formerly the small white flower!

poisondwarf · 11/11/2010 23:14

urbane how gutting. I'm not surprised you're so upset. It doesn't matter that it was only a couple of days or that you weren't expecting it - I'm sure we'll all recognise the feeling of your whole panorama being instantly transformed when you get that blue line. Especially as you've been in such an uncertain place in your life anyway - having another baby would have made certain decisions for you and now I imagine you must feel like things are back where they were but with something missing. Hope you can have a good mope over the weekend and that the experience helps you clarify what you want x

wg rosmerta was tillyfernackerpants - she doesn't post any more (if you're lurking tilly come and say hello). DB was the white flower.

Avo thanks for Cyprus recommendation. I have to say though I always start off my annual winter sun hunt by checking out the temperatures in Cyprus & Malta in hope but they never manage to be quite warm enough at this time of year. Bring on global warming I say!

zoejeanne · 11/11/2010 23:31

Urbane so sorry to hear your sad news today. Have a big hug from me. And can Rubes send her neighbour round with wine?

Kiwi how?s your lovely DD after her rough ride at the hospital? She?s in good health in general, isn?t she? And so the delay won?t jeopardise anything?

I am Shock at how quickly P?s arm has mended Trace. And L is a comedy genius on a par with MrWG Grin

Lovely news on the scans, Mom and JJ. I thought of you JJ yesterday, as I met someone who is due the same day as you and I was shocked at how quickly it is coming round. I still think of you as being newly clackered

LadyT I think your DH would think it very fortunate that the 2 'anniversaries' combine

Late input on fire vs wood burner ? we have a wood burner, and put the playpen fence around it and try hard not to light it when DD is around. I was once told that the surround gets so hot, that if you touch it your skin will stick to it ? which sounds infinitely worse to me than a ?simple? burn from sticking your hand in the flames. DD has never paid it the slightest bit of attention though ? except of course when I?ve been trying to clean it out and the ash was so much fun Hmm

So I?ve confirmed with work that I?ll go 3 days from January and agreed my new job description today and will get the new contract next week. Woohoo. Smile Because we are partly public sector funded they can?t guarantee anything beyond the 31 March, but then everyone is in the same boat and they wouldn?t be going to the effort of all the paperwork if they didn?t want me after that. I?m changing my days, to working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. One of my ante natal friends runs a toddler group on a Tuesday, which I?ve never managed to get to previously, so I?m looking forward to that and may even offer to be her deputy or something. But the best thing is that DH got quite upset that by reducing my hours will mean he won?t need to continue his half day with DD, so has decided he?s going to stick with that routine ? so overall she gets even more family time, and I know they both love their weekly afternoon of fun, What they get up to is a whole other issue ? last week DH took charge of breakfast and I came downstairs to discover DD was enjoying buttered toast with a sprinkling of hundreds and thousands and a topping of skips Hmm

I so much enjoyed the table runner discussion, I?m going to up the ante and ask for stuffing suggestions for Christmas. I did a really yummy chestnut and sausagemeat one last year, which I?ll do again. But I also want another that?s less rich, and I?m fancying something fruity. Does anyone have any good recipes? Nothing I?ve found so far appeals

Please count me in to secret santa again. I wore my bedsocks last night and will be doing so again tonight, its so windy and horridible.

PinguRocks · 11/11/2010 23:31

So sorry urbane.
PD we went to Madeira a few weeks ago and weather was lovely but hardly any other kids around although the place we stayed had an outdoor playground and a really well kitted out playroom.

zoejeanne · 11/11/2010 23:32

Oh blimey, another essay from me. Rubes I much prefer your short sharp posts, rather than my boring novels that are always so behind

Rubena · 11/11/2010 23:36

Urbane, so sorry Sad and yes as you said, although we all know there is a reason etc etc it doesn't make it any easier like WG said.
Things will look up and look a whole lot clearer once you start to feel better.
Just wanted to quickly post to you.
I must really get sleep, so will catch up better tomorrow.

urbanewarrior · 11/11/2010 23:49

thanks so much. you're all so lovely. I feel very fortunate to have this. does make a real difference. and pd you put it perfectly - i think that decision made thing is also a part of it. am now going to watch west wing until i fall asleep which is part of my classic moping. night all.

also other bit of perspective today (while i'm on a downer) was the silence. really moving - i never thought that in my adult life it would become something where traffic stopped again. probably just because where i am in whitehall but really erie and v moving - whole of trafalgar square just still.

really am going now. thanks again. xx

LadyThompson · 12/11/2010 05:10

Poor Urbaneski, I do wish I could think of something comforting to say but PD's remarks are v perceptive I think. When bad things happen like this one has to curl into a little ball for a while before it's possible to take that deep breath and think things will get better.

I know what you mean about the silence. I did it at hope but it was marred by DD1 screaming for the Zingzillas. The reason why one of her middle names is Poppy is because of her being born in Nov 2008, close to the 90th anniv of Armistice Day. My Dad's dad was killed in WW2, he barely knew him and DP's parents were forces so we are big on rememberance here.

On a stupid note about the student riots in Whitehall on Tuesday, I was amused by the Sky News commentary: "the students must be angry, they were up at 8.30".

DeidreBarlow · 12/11/2010 06:51

urbane Lovely that is such sad news. Please take some time outto look after yourself. Thinking of you lots.

My beautiful Grandad died yesterday afternoon. I drove up there after work yesterday to say my goodbyes as we knew he was fading fast. Bloody roadworks meant I had to take a detour & I got there 5 mins after her diedSad. Nan/Mum & everyone really is doing okay, just pleased he isn't suffering anymore and is finally at peace.

Big hello to everyone, hopefully more later...
