Hello all. LadyT thank you for asking how it went at hospital. Was horrendeous actually - not that there's anything wrong with DD (touch wood) but after two hours of poking, prodding, stabbing and yanking away at her arms, we had to abandon the test. They managed to get the canula in, and inject the dye stuff - then couldn't get any blood OUT of the canula. Her veins are tiny tiny tiny even for a little person. Poor thing was howling away on my lap. Very sad.

Not sure what happens now, she'll have to have this test at some point but when she's bigger and in the meantime we are seeing consultant in a few weeks to see what we can do now.

Sorry, bit of a me me post. Hope everyone else is well.

Rubena · 09/11/2010 15:06

Oh Lady.... what is it with these dp / dh's! I'm sure they just think we sit around and mumsnet at the spa all day getting pedicures! (which reminds me whenever anyone wants a pampering day, count me in Grin) I think I mentioned Spot needs one before ds2, but no-one commented on that - i'm sure everyone just scans over my posts, and I can't blame you all - perhaps we should meet up at Brighton or somewhere in between sans kiddies? MIL would happily take mine for the day. Shall I see if she'll take more?! Look at me, I can't stay away today. DS still napping and dd done about the 10th poo of the day it feels like.
Lady, what is left to do at the house? I nearly choked on my coffee at the dp sleeping in the shed comment! Too funny!

Where's our Kiwi? Hope all went well - did you like how I said "our" Kiwi? I'm really embracing this English way of life Hmm I have a proper "front room" now. Although it will always be a lounge room to me., not a front room or a sitting room. I do other things rather than sit in here. it should be called a cheerfulness room. but then that would get confusing becuase there would be several rooms that would come under that title Grin
Oh ds needs to wake up soon before I really drive everyone away with my pointless babble.... really sorry, again...

Rubena · 09/11/2010 15:10

Oh there's Kiwi!! Aww sorry dd had such a rough time. My dd had a similar problem at her jaundice screening appt. I'm sure all is well and hope she doesn't have to try again too soon.
Right there's ds ! yay - I can leave you all in peace.... He's doing mamoth 2 hour naps these days if I stretch him to 1pm!

Jam - Angry at your dh

VagolaJahooli · 09/11/2010 15:29

Rubes you know I was thinking of joining Twitter and wondering why I haven't yet when its such a big thing. Then I realised I don't need to as I have this thread to dump my endless streams of consciousness on. Please don't you stop as I'll be wittering to myself and will need to join Twitter!

Id be up for spa but don't think we will get to London until the 18th Dec at the earliest. It's looking like I will be going snowboarding in chamonoix for 4 days in Jan for my little going away treat.

Kiwi sorry about the canula, those things can be buggers. Where they taking the blood from the same canula they injected the dye into? I'm not going to say anything, but that is wrong on 2 levels.

Rubes, I know what you mean. I'm not so worried about congenital problems but actual problems caused by a traumatic birth or something going wrong during the birth. In fact I was terrified of that. So I COMPLETELY understand the quite while your ahead thing.

Well we've put in an offer, its way way below the asking price and 25k below our highest possible offer so we'll see how we go. They will def turn it down but our agent will do all the negotiating. He is a bit crafty and will use the no chain, easy finance, can move in whenever card. He also said that along the way they may offer to throw in some extras to sweeten the deal like furniture or other fittings. Also he has given a date we could move in by of Feb 1st and apparently if they can't do that date but can only do later we can use that as a down bargaining chip. All very interesting. Real estate is so different over here. In London it was like can we have it for a teeny bit less...ok done.

DeidreBarlow · 09/11/2010 16:02

vag Loving the new name! Fingers crossed on the house offer too.

You know I considered joining twitter but tbh I just don't get it!

Lady Have you watched Downton Abbey yet? It was a great episode, can't wait for the next series.

kiwi Shame yesterday didn't go to plan

Sorry you had to come home to the mess jam. DH is much the same but would then defend the mess with 'well I've been looking after the DC's'. Men can quite literally only do one thing at a time.

My Grandad came home yesterday but is not good. Can't stand to pee but they won't put a catheter in, can't breath generally. My nan can't cope with him being home her nerves are wrecked, and so my mum has moved in for a few days till they get into a routine of sorts with the carers/home-help coming in. But she is already going mad cooped up with them both...its a vicious circle! DD cried this morning because she hasn't seen Nanny & Grandad (my parents) for "ages of days". Poor mite.

KiwiPanda · 09/11/2010 16:23

Vag No - they got the dye in via her foot (bigger easier veins) and the canula in her hand (after trying both hands, both crooks of elbows etc) but then the canula just wouldn't bleed properly. In fairness - because I've had issues with nurses there before - the nurse doing it was clearly trying her best and got lots of doctors in to help, and no one could get it done. Poor DD.

KiwiPanda · 09/11/2010 16:24

ps I'm on twitter.. far too much ...

Rubena · 09/11/2010 16:35

Ok vag I'm back Grin Good luck on the offer!!! How exciting! And the snowboarding!! I really want to do one of those club Med type snow holiday deals as dh loves to snowboard and I want to learn and the kids club thingy looks good. Want to come with one time?

I joined twitter ages ago but never tried it out really, so add me (follow me?) if you use it anyone! (just my real name)I'd probably like it as i think it's just like Facebook status updates only right? I've never tweeted. Right I'm off there in a sec. lets all have a tweet Grin

Just back from the shop. That took an age and a half but ds just loves to walk Confused he wasn't too keen on standing in the shop while I wrote two birthday cards (one with my left hand to g'ma from the kids!) Just in the nick of time as it's practically dark Sad so warm inside though.

Deids glad your G'dad is home, but I'm sure it's going to be tough times. Hopefully he will get settled and comfortable soon.

Right I'm off to twitter... tweet.... ?

KiwiPanda · 09/11/2010 16:43

Mine is, well hell it's easiest just to link really.

Rubena · 09/11/2010 16:47

Yay I'm following you Kiwi! I feel like a proper stalker Hmm it seems our Turnip is quite the tweeter!!!!! Dear god, I could really get into this.....

Rubena · 09/11/2010 16:56

Oh, jam and beans apparently I'm Following you, Beans and JJ too (didn't know) but we're all not very tweetful Hmm

JamInMyWellies · 09/11/2010 17:01

OOh I am on twitter but never use it. Maybe I should abandon FB in favour of it. TBH I spend enough time on the tinternet looking at shite I shouldnt really be adding more habits.

DB hoping your grandad get the help he needs. Your poor mum and grandma.

JamInMyWellies · 09/11/2010 17:02

Have just tried to get on it its over capacity whatever that means

VagolaJahooli · 09/11/2010 17:06

Oh how cool would that be we could have an MN snow holiday! I've not looked at the club med one. Have looked into the ski famille and Esprit ski (I think) with full onsite creche babysitter etc and ski school drop off. This year DH & I are keeping it simple and just driving to garmische-partekerkin(sp) in Germany for a long weekend. We will need to keep DHs holidays and money for the wedding of the century, which is his brothers wedding in Taiwan.

Lady Im loving the Trip. Perfect series for those two. Have you seen the movie 'a cock & bull story'? It is those 2 and its an interesting and funny movie. Easy to watch like the Trip.

VagolaJahooli · 09/11/2010 19:03

Right I've done it, I signed up to Twitter...what happens now?

VagolaJahooli · 09/11/2010 19:07

Oh I'm nedzee, can you believe nedsy, nedsie & nedsey were taken. I hate adding numbers afterwards so just kept trying different variations on my RL nickname.

Beans33 · 09/11/2010 19:13

Am I still on Twitter? I haven't been on it since I signed up! Hee hee!

SO, Urbane - that is amazing news! Whoop whoop! Hurrah!

And DD1 ate all her lunch at nursery today - and all her supper back here. Woo! And DD2 hasn't had a temperature all day! Woo again! But she has hardly drunk any milk, but never mind. She's getting better!

Went to doctor today as coil not comfortable yet. I have been bleeding a bit (spotting) for 8 weeks now. They have finally given me tablets to stop it. PLUS because of the bleeding, I now have a bacterial imbalance of my vaginal wall, hence the painful sex I had a week or so ago. Treat. I am on antibiotics for that. Rattling! DH will be gutted as no sex for another week. Oops!

Have been loving reading the runner chat. Honestly, we do love an inane natter on here. It's such heaven to immerse oneself in it, I find!

Right, fish and chips. GET IN!

xxxx

Rubena · 09/11/2010 19:49

All happening over at twitter Nedzee Grin Get involved LadyT

DeidreBarlow · 09/11/2010 20:00

Right I've joined Twitter tooConfusedConfused. I'm mrscaldie. I tweeted, still don't get it?

I'm too old might have to stick to the old fashioned way...like MNGrin

spotofcheerfulness · 09/11/2010 20:34

Hello all, sorry to hear about your nightmare hospital visit Kiwi, poor DD and poor you Sad. I guess they can't be too worried or they wouldn't have put it off for so long, but that begs the question as to why now when she's still so little. POor mite.

DB, thinking of your family, it must be so tough. They sound really close (despite your mum going bonkers, unsurprisingly), they are very lucky to have her (and vice versa, I guess). Will it be possible for you to take the DCs to see him?

Please don't all bugger off to Twitter, I don't think I could bear looking for Rubes' ramblings insightful discourse in two places Grin.
Yay, please let's have some kind of Brighton shindig. Who's in??

Veg, I'm sure you've explained this before but I must have missed it - how do you get an estate agent working for the buyer? Sounds great. I hope you get it for a price you're happy with. I don't dare ask how much you've offered as I might faint with Envy and wonder if we should have moved to the Dam too...

Beans, enjoy the F&C . Bummer on the coil (as 'twere, not a suggestion), but glad they're doing something about it.

lady you need some serious looking after yourself. Have you had The Chat with DP yet or are you just selflessly getting on with more than your fair share? It doesn't seem right to me. But you'll probably deal with it much better than I would (which would involve much passive aggression, sulking and sarcasm, culminating in a big row).

Urbane, that is lovely news. How are you feeling about it? Sounds like ML will be coming at an opportune time!

Can't remember if I mentioned I got some antibiotics for my sinusitis, they're hopefully kicking in now as am fed up of wincing in pain every time I slightly lean forward.

SummerLightning · 09/11/2010 21:11

Hellllooooo,
I have been lurking and not posting, you lot have been making me laff with talk of table runners, spinning wheels (effie is a nerd) and pork in ovens.

Congrats to our urbane, how exciting!! How are you feeling? eeek to being on the pill though. How lax were you with the taking of it for that to happen? A friend of mine got pregnant when supposedly on the pill and i asked her how often she was taking it and she said "a few pills a month" haha, did make me laugh. Sorry just being nosy as may consider it as my contracpetive method when i get round to sorting something!

Talking of no 3, I am 99% certain I don't want a no 3. But I can see how it would be nice in some ways to ahve a big family. I am one of 2 though adn DH one of one so to him 2 children is a big family. you never know but I don't think so.

avo it sounds to me like now(ish) is the time if you want to go for no 3, how exciting!!

vagola like the name change, you will alwyas be veggie to me though. How exciting on the house.

I am on twitter but also never use it. My username is "udders" (don't ask). I may try adding some of you.

deirdre sorry to hear your grandad is not doing so well. Hope your mum is doing ok with helping them hold it all together, sounds very stressful.

Oh I would love a mn snowy holiday too! That sounds ace.

Hello kiwi sorry to hear hospital was horrid.

Right I am off to check out twitter now.

Beans33 · 09/11/2010 21:54

Who am I on twitter? God I don't think I can face doing something so hip, when I am utter geek and quite proud of it. I only joined to tweet sister or something. But she got bored of it too.
DD2 has slept so much in day that she's been all awake. Had to boob her from my pitiful empty sacks. Will be a middle of night feed I'm sure. Bumholes.

kiwi - I so meant to comment on your horrid hospital visit and didn't. Did I miss a post for why she's having tests? Hope you and she aren't too distressed.

And Deidre, I'm so sorry about your Grandpa. I'm sending strong love thoughts to you.

I am watching Vampire Diaries. Guilty pleasure.

DD1's best pal has got chicken pox. I'm wondering how long incubation period is? Whizzy hasn't seen her since Thursday so am kind of hoping we've avoided it!

Lady - are you taking good care of yourself?

Beans33 · 09/11/2010 21:56

And Vag, I like your new name, but you'll always be Vaggiemummy to me! Your new name is quite trendy. I am starting to feel like an old fogey!

traceface · 09/11/2010 22:02

evening ladies.
wow urbane conclackerations! Grin It concerns me that I have just gone on the pill...although we've not had sex for weeks so it's kind of irrelevant Blush!
I think we're sticking with 2. had a chat about it the other day in fact. I would like another pregnancy and baby, but the negatives are:
I'm high risk for PND/AND which would affect all 4 of us, not just me,
We would have to get a bigger house and car,
I don't always seem to manage very well with 2,
We have Money Troubles which would just get worse,
I'd have to stop work (couldn't afford 2 at nursery) and I rather like my job!
L didn't respond too well to having a baby sister,
as there is a big gap between L and P, there are things that L can't do because P is too young (ie certain trips/ activities on hols etc), so having another little one would prolong the amount of time that L couldn't do stuff.
So really, although I like the idea of another one, it would be for 'me', rather than being the best thing for our family.
Anyway...I've failed to keep up (again) so sorry for the things I've missed.
kiwi that's rubbish that dd will have to have her test done another time. I'm sure you'll have been more traumatised by it that dd was.
spot I really hope your antibiotics work soon. You could really do with a break from all the illness.
avo you sound like you don't need convincing to have a dc3 Smile
ladyt little O's chatter really cracks me up Grin And are you not still supposed to be taking it easy? Look after yourself Lady!
Now about all this Twitter talk. It's not on! I already miss out on pictures by not being on FB, so don't go all twittery on me, otherwise I'll be a complete leper (along with JB who seems as social-network-phobic as me!)
Well P has had her plaster cast off and her little arm seems fine. they mend so quickly at this age don't they?
Think I might go to bed because I've got a new library book out... it's all go here!

urbanewarrior · 09/11/2010 22:03

Am loving thought of effie spinning.
thanks for all congrats. in shocking news i was actually taking pill every day - and at roughly same time (only 4 hours either side). and for first time in my life i actually took the pill properly as in started taking it on first day of my period rather than first day it had finished - which was what i spent god knows how many years doing.
so am a bit baffled. and dh is definitely going for snip after this. remind me of this when i am on DC4 Shock am going to ask dr when i see her on friday.
and am crossing fingers that i can get referred to st thomas'.

Kiwi am so sorry to hear about your hospital visit. that must have been awful for you. your brave little dd.

gah dd has woken up. back later
