Wish I didn't have to leave the house, Dixie but got to take the girls for their 8 week check this morning. They're having their first jabs too so the rain and wind just really adds to my stress levels - I am already imagining struggling with the double buggy in the doc's carpark as the rain lashes down! And I know from experience that the double buggy doesn't quite fit through the doorway... arrrghhh! AM wondering now why on earth I didn't insist on DH taking a morning off work to help me!!

Having my own check at the same time - can't remember what this involves? Not sure I had one last time. Is it quick and easy?

SkyeplusArlo · 11/11/2010 10:49

Hi all

Horrible weather here too. Took DS off to aquarium/marine muesum yesterday as couldn´t face another day at home all day, he loved it Smile. Mind you have used the time well and have all xmas cards made and ready to send.

I didnt plan on buying Maia anything for christmas but DP wants to get her something so probably buy her something small like a book.

It´ll be my first christmas out of UK Sad, its not that its not celebrated here its just different. I plan to do a traditional day for us on the 25th, but may have my PIL´s here and MIL is really critical off anything non-spanish (especially food), I think its becuase she doesn´t understand but can be very annoying for me.

We were there last weekend and I heard her tell to DPs aunt about how DS loves his stories and that his mother sometimes even reads them to him!!! When its me almost every night (DS works evenings and isn´t in till 10:30). I could rant for ages but will leave it there.

We are going with condoms (when I get round to buying them Grin), DP doesn´t like them neither but I don´t like the pill, implants or coil which I would have to wear/have 24/7 whereas he has the condom on for sex so no discussion on that one.

beatitali I love your things they are so beautiful. Also love the posters, they are so much better than the typical kids stuff you see around.

Maia had her 8 wk check up at 9 wks, all is well weighing in at 5 kg (about 11 llbs).

Oooh Oliver and I have just sat and watched the Little Mermaid.....and he loved it! Smiling and cooing away at all the colours and music....I do think my beautiful singing had something to do with the enjoyment though....!! haha...

Poor sod - I sing to him all the time though and it really seems to soothe him. Anyone else do this or am I nuts?

Olly 6wks+4

Dixiebell · 11/11/2010 15:00

chelle I've been trying to ding nursery rhymes to Arlo, but it's been so long since I've sung them, I usually end up making up the words and tunes! Definitely not something to be done in public, although the other day i was singing and prattling nonsense to him as we walked along with the pram and realised there was a woman walking right behind me that I hadn't noticed. Hope she enjoyed my baby talk and off-key singing!

Dixiebell · 11/11/2010 15:03

Oh, and DH and I had a singing session for Arlo's benefit the other day...for some reason bananarama and Michael Jackson songs seemed to be the ones we could remember the words to...belies our ages and 1980s childhoods!

Chelle1986 · 11/11/2010 15:04

hahaha dixie - how funny.xxx

watersprite · 11/11/2010 15:25

Hi Ladies

Maria-Ann had her 6 week check today and everything is fine I was also checked over by my GP, she just ask how I was feeling and if my stitches were healing she also checked my stomach and I'm fine.

Got to take Maria-Ann for her injections nxt wk, not looking forward to that.

The weather is really bad here, none stop raining all day, wished it would brighten up soon as it always seems to lift my mood when it's nice :)

watersprite · 11/11/2010 15:27

Forgot to mention 7wks +2 days :)

cinnamongreyhound · 11/11/2010 16:28

Luke had his jabs today too Bellabelly, he was really brave only cried a tiny bit after second one. DS1 said uh oh! as soon as he saw the needles, he had his preschool boosters a couple of months ago.

Luke slept 6pm-10.30 pm yesterday unlike his usual cluster feeding/needing to be held self in the evenings, was very strange! Not counting on it but I agree it is nice to have a bit more time Dixiebell!

Have made an appointment to have a copper coil fitted so fingers crossed I'm not one of the women who have terrible bleeding with it!

bananastew · 11/11/2010 19:57

Why are all the soaps so sad at the minute??? I'm hormonal & emotional enough without all this! poor Tom (Hollyoaks) and Jackson (emmerdale)!

Almost had a wobble today. Olly is just like his brother, still putting on weight but dropping a centile. He's being sick daily. Not just a teaspoons worth, a whole bottle! I've decided tho that he was born too big. Dh is 10st wet through, I'm small although not as skinny as I used to be as pointed out by ds1 who today lifted my top and said "fat belly!" He's still in 12-18mth clothes at 27 months so an 8lb baby was too big. he's just settling down to his rightful size!

What a waffle! Anyway. Awful weather here too but its nice to bein a cosy warm house when its like that outside.

I'm taking the boys to the primary school my mum works at tomorrow. They're looking at how we grow so will be comparing Olly with Toby with themselves! Should be an interesting day!

MammyG · 11/11/2010 20:57

Hi all.
Horrible weather here too. Really blustery. Had car door slam back and hit me on the head today while trying to take the gang out of the car. Stayed in for the rest of the day and tried to ignore the wind and sheeting rain.
Pheobe is doing well but after her bath this eve she threw up. Like Olly banana it was loads. This is about the 3rd time it has happened and always after the bath. I have noticed that she can still have wind for ages after the bottle and maybe all the jostling of getting dressed etc is causing it. She loves her bath tho.
Also am noticing one breast getting really full and hard in the evening even tho we have been on two bottles and rest bfing for two weeks now. thought it would steady up but this has just happened the past 3 days.Has anyone else noticed that LO has trouble at time feeding from one side? I think my left breast can be a bit too much for her in the evenings as she gasps and gulps more.
I am well out of sorts today - little man giving me a run for my money. really tested me today with not lsitening and doing opposite of what he is asked. Feel like a tired juggling mom this evening have a lot on my mind at the moment too tho that doesnt help.

Phoebe 7 weeks (around 11lb)

saoirse86 · 11/11/2010 21:16

Ooh MammyG car door in the head sounds painful!

DP had the day off today so I was hoping for a nice family day but the weather kind of ruined that, so we spent most of the day indoors with just a quick trip to the bank and supermarket - very exciting!

I'm a bit jealous of all these babies smiling and generally being entertaining. Orlaith smiles occasionally but at random times for no apparent reason like at the wall or whilst being changed. I can't get her to do it for me at all.

I am finding that she needs an awful lot of entertaining and gets really whingy when she's not being entertained. I want to take her out and about but annoyingly there don't seem to be any baby groups nearby for young babies, excpet one that starts every 12 weeks and the next one starts in december. Anyone have any general ideas of what to with her?

SkyeplusArlo · 11/11/2010 21:20

hi,just to let you guys know im about to namechange Smile

saoirse86 · 11/11/2010 21:32

I just went back to look at older posts to catch up and saw your facebook photos banana, chelle and beadit. They're so sweet I couldn't resist sharing too. Most of my phtotos are of mine and my sister's babies as we spend all our maternity leave together now!

saoirse86 · 11/11/2010 21:33

Just realised there are loads of photos, sorry!

skyeplusarlo - why a name change?!

clumsymumluckybaby · 11/11/2010 23:24

just for the hell of it saoirse86

arlo is very parpy today...and unusually upset Sad

Dixiebell · 12/11/2010 06:17

Does the new name have a story behind it clumsymum?!

Chelle1986 · 12/11/2010 10:11

Saoirse86 - I'm finding that Olly needs an awful lot of entertaianing too. And I haven't been told of any baby groups....

He is awake an awful lot in the day - sometimes only sleeping if we go out in the car anywhere. We do get loads of smiles though - he is SOOOOO close to laughing - its killing me!

He particularly loves a black and white canvas picture that we have on our living room wall of a boxer dog - kills himself chortling at it!

Was thinking when I was doing the morning feed before - do any of us live close together at all? I am in West Cheshire - close to Chester.

Banana - I'm with you on the soaps! Particularly Hollyoaks - poor Tom! Although nothing will ever be as sad as when Max died - I sobbed from start to finish of the episode!!

Olly 6wks + 5

saoirse86 · 12/11/2010 10:45

Orlaith must have known I was desperate for more smiles because she spent about half an hour this morning smiling at me. In fact she was so busy smiling she wouldn't drink her bottle - not like her at all!

chelle1986 I find too that she hardly sleeps except when we go out. And weirdly she also has a picture on the living room wall that she loves. It's like a cityscape but it's all orange and red with a black frame. She'll look at the other pictures but she loves that one the most. It mesmerises her for ages. My sister's LO loves it too. We're thinking of printing loads of them and selling them at a baby show. We could make a fortune making all those rowdy babies quiet!

I'm in Birmingham.

Debs75 · 12/11/2010 10:56

I survived my first full day at home with the little ones yesterday. Dp is on a back to work course for 4 weeks so once we had dropped him off we went to Asda to do some shopping then home to watch tv all day as the wind and rain was too much for me to brave. Lucy had a few good naps and me and dc3 played hide and seek. I did get bored after the 100th time but she let me sit down with tea and biscuits as a reward.
Got baby massage today so mum is coming to watch dc3 for an hour every friday. Just hoping the weather clams a bit or we will be blown away.

Chelle I live in Hull East Yorkshire so miles away from you.

Dixiebell · 12/11/2010 11:08

I'm in NE hampshire. seems lime we're spread quite widely!

Tried Arlo with a dummy this morning, he sucked for a minute or so each time before dropping it. Have to say I'm quite pleased, I found it a bit disturbing looking at my perfect little boy with a big plastic thing stuck in his gob! Although next time he's fussing I'm sure i won't be so picky! I had a dummy until I was 4 and loved it.

sassy34264 · 12/11/2010 11:11

chelle Babies can't see in colour when they are born (not sure when they can) so they just see contrasts- black and white is the most contrasty you can get. I think that's the reason why your nipples darken!

I'm not far from you, only about 30mins in Chorley Lancashire.

I don't watch soaps banana but i am still hormonal.......when does it go?! Cried my eyes out the other day and i mean proper heartbroke, over one of those adverts for money for charity in Africa. Showed a little baby rooting whilst crying for the mother and see was just staring ahead cos there was nothing she could do. She was far too thin to be producing milk i think. I can't even begin to imagine how awful that would be. God crying now thinking about it.

(flaps hand in front of face to stop)

I have decided this week to stop with all the eating rubbish and go back to my usual diet. Belly is a bit flatter already......thank god.

My two didn't smile properly till they were over 8 weeks ( i think that might be cos they were premature?) but they both laugh now. Jacob laughs while staring into space too saorise, he's a bit of a simple soul is our Jacob! And by that i mean it doesn't take much to make him content, just food in his belly and he's smiley miley. Isobel doesn't smile even half as much but when she does it is soooooo gorgeous. She is much more tactile and cuddly than him though. She can put her arms around your neck when you are carrying her, which just makes me melt.
Still at my mumms (although nearly finished our house) and she has a mirror half way up the stairs, and i love it, every night when i carry them to bed i look in it and they are just too beautiful. Get me -soppy sod!
:o

cinnamongreyhound · 12/11/2010 12:51

Sounds like fun bananastew! I only watch Hollyoaks and I have to say I find Tom very annoying, plus how can one child be so unlucky- not sure I want to take responsibility for him he seems to be cursed Wink

MammyG my left breast has a much faster/stronger let down than my right. Have read on another thread here that once you feel the let down take the baby off and let the milk flow into a muslin and then put them back, Luke does seem to just about cope so haven't tried it.

saoirse86 I can view your pictures :(. Do you not have a Children's Centre near you? Do they do baby bounce at your local library? I would suggest just going to a walk, she will see and hear new things and I am a strong believer in fresh air doing you lots of good, whoever you are!

I was passed by a funeral car with DAD in the back sassy34264 and I was in tears in the middle of the high street :(. Not soppy at all, I love my boys sooooo much, they are the most beautiful things in the world.

I'm in Suffolk, between Cambridge and Norwich.
