Elsa123, i didn't know what to expect from the jabs, but DD didn't cry much, she was unusually sleepy for the rest of the day though and had bad dreams, or shrieked and whined whilst asleep anyway, poor little girl, better than getting diphtheria though.

Hermya, hope your headache / migraine clears up pdq

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 04/01/2011 18:52

Hi all, nice to hear from you dontstopmenow sorry got no useful advice.

My car is broke again, having mil doing the playgroup runs which im quite sad about, im his mum, its my job :(
Just bathed both kiddies and now feel exhausted, cant wait till dh gets back at 9.30pm, such stupid hours with 2 kids :(
Just set up Sophie's walker and it is brilliant Grin

Hermya I get migraines, they are horrible, hope you get better soon

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 04/01/2011 20:44

Tyson :( hope the car gets fixed soon.

Elsa- the medula swing is meant to be good. I find it easier to express before a feed, as LO is more efficient than the pump. So in the morning I have pretty full boobs, so feed her at 5, have a cup of tea, pint of water then express and hour or two later before her 8am ish feed. Doesn't always work. I find it really helps to be "in the zone" ie chilled, no distractions, and think lots about feeding dd to get my letdown going. If you can only get 1/2 Oz at a time try doing little and often to boost your supply and to get use to it, and drink shedloads of water!! I hope it gets easier for you. I never managed with Ds, so really pleased to have managed this time round :)

Anyone else having problems getting LO down for naps? Dd has gone from easy to hardwork!

Hope jabs go ok for those with them to look forward to...we have second round on fri...calpol at the ready!!

SilverSky · 04/01/2011 20:53

tiredfeet do not even think that for a second. You had a bad night. Hopefully a one off.

Ds is upstairs in his Moses swaddled as part of our new evening routine. Bath, feed and bed and no coming back downstairs once bath has occurred. I am thinking perhaps I should have gone to bed too. His slumber bear is broken so the radio is on and I have left my bedside lamp on cos I don't like the idea of him laying up there in the dark.

nymphadora · 04/01/2011 21:13

Seashells- dd3 doesn't nap properly. 1/2 hour after a feed or if she is in the pram more than 1/2 hour.

She is getting in to playing now. Asks to go in her gym then rolls with her legs in the air. Had a massive falling out with the sheep tonight though . Had to give them both time out Wink

Elsa123 · 04/01/2011 21:37

Very cute Nymph Smile.

Well done for the new night time routine Silver. I don't think you're soppy, just sensible! I have just put DD to bed and have the bedside light on so I can both see and read when I go to bed! This week I'm trying her evening routine earlier so she's in bed an hour earlier than usual although granted she's normally snoozing anyway on my boob! Hopefully she'll still be up at her normal time in the morning.

Thank you for the tip Seashells I shall try that as I normally get some time in the morning. It won't be for the next couple of days though with jabs tomorrow and physio for DD the next morning.

I know what you mean about getting them down for naps. I know I was crowing earlier but it was shortlived! When she realises I'm not right there when she opens her eyes, she gets really upset. She fights sleep in the day, often looking shattered. I've got to the point where if she naps once between midday and bedtime I'm happy! Its best if we're out doing something in the afternoon as she's dead interested then she invariably sleeps.

HermyaLovesLysander · 04/01/2011 21:43

Silver We have a similar routine, mostly out of a need to claim our living room back. We leave the light on as well, I felt guilty about him laying in the dark as well.

Tyson Sorry about your car, that sucks.

Seashells We don't have problems, but I've noticed that DS has started to fight going to sleep recently.

Dontstop You're not a useless Mother by any stretch. It could just be that he's been a bit unsettled by the travelling. When we were travelling with DS we had a couple of horrid nights with him where he just screamed and wouldn't settle for toffee.

NoHunIntended · 04/01/2011 23:44

We have no routine, really. I just do what I am told, as and when, by DS! :)

Re EcoBalls, they come with a tube of special stain remover for the stubborn stains, which you can re-order. But generally, I find they do a great job. Some people miss that laundry smell, but you get used to not having that, and actually, I prefer the non-smell!

Glad a few of you are going for the Cheeky Wipes! I should get commission!!! :) I do think I'm saving a fortune not using disposable baby wipes, plus I believe they are kinder on my baby's bottom. Enjoy!

H, hope the headache has cleared.

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 05/01/2011 02:05

Tiredfeet- hope you are getting a better night tonight :) it's not a reflection on you being a bad mother, they are just little. Go easy on yourself (hug)

Thanks for the solidarity from the "hard to get to nap crew" Wink I think is now aware of her surroundings, sonow needing more switch off time. Hopefully I can get a big pm sleep for her sorted. She is pretty good at night though thank goodness!

Hun- the ecoballs are good; i did miss the laundry smell on our clothes, but not dc's iykwim as thy smell so gorgeous (unlike dh and his running gear Wink) so we stopped using them...should really dig them out again!

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 05/01/2011 02:11

Hermya- hope the migrants shift.

Nymph - yur LO sounds a cutie. Dd loved sitting in the sofa reading her animal book blowing bubbles at the hippo, watching Ds and I build duplo megaconstructions :) she also loves cuddles and kisses from us all! Giggles when we do ring a ring a roses :)

Silver sky- sounds great! The joy of an evening to yourself, a luxury well earned!

Time for a brew- welcome!!

Elsa- hope it goes better for you in a fee days time then :)

Right, back to bed before ds' 5am morning call (thread in sleep if anyone has experience of early risers!)

TimeForABrew · 05/01/2011 03:05

Thanks seashells - was that predictive text, about hoping the migrants shift? Smile

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 05/01/2011 05:44

Lol, yes...exhausted typing in dark whilst bfing...mn is only thing keeping me sane at night atm

nymphadora · 05/01/2011 10:01

< moan alert>

Woke up this am with virtually no hearing & voice. Hearing slightly there on left now but nothing on the right. Voice v sore & croaky. Dh out this am so good job big dds off to tell me of dd3 is shouting!

Elsa123 · 05/01/2011 15:04

ooh dear Nymph that sounds pants. I hope you're starting to feel better.

DD had her jabs this morning and was a star. Also the HV came round this afternoon and DD weighs 10lb 3 oz! So she's jumped from the 2nd to just over the 9th centile. Very pleasing.

SilverSky · 05/01/2011 15:52

I MN whilst bf'ing in the early hours too. Typically this morning DS went back to sleep easily and I couldn't sleep. Such an arse!!

Ds napped in the car for 2mins at 130 and is tired but is fighting it..... Badly.

Last night I went to bed about 930 and Ds woke about 3. So not bad at all.

SilverSky · 05/01/2011 15:53

Get well soon nymph

Ivytheterrible · 05/01/2011 18:12

Thanks for info on the beads nohun have tried the traditional teethers but they are too big for her mouth and she just pushes it out with her Tongue.

I'm at Longleat next fri for the weekend. Never been to that one before so should be interesting to compare.

I browse Mn when bf at night but find it hard to type and easier to read and mentally compose responses that I never get time to post.

Was my birthday yesterday and really wanted a galaxy tab (tablet pc) so I can browse at night without squinting at a small phone screen. I got a sewing machine Hmm

nymphadora · 05/01/2011 18:40

Do you sew Ivy? Or shown an interest? Happy Birthday anyway Grin

I'm better than this am. Can hear out of left side & little from right. Moved to my chest again now. Had dd3 to dr and cough isn't on chest despite the wheezing and dr said she was doing better than us.

Elsa123 · 05/01/2011 19:42

Happy Birthday Ivy. Is it a nice sewing machine?! Did you want one?! I hope you'll enjoy Longleat- I love it. Its got the best rapids...if someone will take DD and you can go down it!

I'm glad you're feeling better Nymph.

The jabs have made DD very sleepy- she's had an extra nap today and is currently asleep. Bless her. We had a lovely time for half an hour with her grinning and cooing at me.

HermyaLovesLysander · 05/01/2011 20:42

Elsa Awww bless her.

Nymph I'm glad you're feeling better now.

Ivy Ooooooo I'm jealous.

Seashells Well after I cleared the migrants out with their loud music, the migraine did go.

I went to a ladies coffee morning (I seriously feel about seventy when I say that), it was very nice but the conversations did do the rounds of the controversial. They were on about extended breastfeeding and some there were saying how they wouldn't carry on after xyz months and how it was a bit weird. Each to their own as far as I'm concerned. But it did get me thinking, I never really thought about when I'd stop breastfeeding (had so much trouble getting it going in the first place). I just thought that I'd continue until it naturally sort of petered out. (Plus my MIL said it was a bit weird to continue once they're walking and talking, I'm seeing this as a kind of challange)

Ivytheterrible · 05/01/2011 23:29

Er no nymph I have limited interest in sewing to put it politely and can't think why my parents bought it! I should add it is an "antique" singer as apparently they don't break down. I am supposed to leave it out set up somewhere so I can < and I quote> "run things up quickly when I need to". I'm really more of a dash to the shops if I need somehing kind of gal.

Yep looking forward to the rapids elsa headfirst?

hermya with you on the Breastfeeding. I'm so chuffed to have got to 11 weeks without any ff but am taking it a week at a time as don't want to put pressure on myself. Dd will be in nursery at 5 and a bit months for 3 days a week so it may all go wrong at that point.

Ivytheterrible · 05/01/2011 23:31

More to the point why does my iPhone randomly capitalise words like Breastfeeding?

ILoveGregoryHouse · 06/01/2011 03:27

Morning all. Just Bfeeding dd. It's proving a bit tough cos of time issues with the boys - as in I need more time with them - but we'll go day by day and see.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 06/01/2011 05:36

Oh, any views on dd not having had a poo for four days? I've got an appointment with doc this afternoon just in case but am not overly worried other than what the poonami will be like when it does come Shock

nymphadora · 06/01/2011 07:21

Dd3 did a few days once & when I googled found babies doing 1-2 weeks. Think as long as she isnt in pain she should be fine but o do tend to get stuff checked out with tines.

Heard last night friend had a baby 10lb4 and took an hour from 5 cm. Shock
