Grin I likey likey new name! Great idea dandy Grin

essenceofSES · 16/10/2010 20:23

Grin at your new name Fi Grin
What a silly shortsighted woman to ban you! (polite version of what I really think!)

Running - hope you enjoyed your soak int he bath and feel much better.

Momino - hope your sale went well!

Smokey - I agree with Dandy , get back here with that Apprentice gossip! (Hope we shouldn't be reading anything into your absence)

Llare - so glad you had such a good day at Donington. Must have been very strange meeting all these other MNers but being incognito!

DH has just gone to pick up his brother and BIL from the airport. They're over until Thursday to help DH landscape the gardens around the kitchen extension.

On Tuesday I'm off to exotic Telford for a conference with work until late Wednesday. Only my second night away from O so I'll be leaving him in the charge of DH and the 2 uncles! I'm sure they'll be ok but if you remember, the last time I had a night away, O ended up at the hospital having 5 hrs of tests for a rash!

pulapula · 16/10/2010 23:10

Evening ladies, I really should go to bed but i'll just say a few words.

banned- I can't believe you have been banned from your monthly knit club Angry. how petty. [but quite entertaining for us Wink]. Something to tell the kids anyway.

momino - IKWYM about being broody but not sure it's the right thing for you, even if DH would reverse his snip (what a man!). I think I'm coming round to the idea of stopping at 3 DCs. DD doesn't want another sibling as she's worried it will be another brother. I'd also prefer a DD to redress the male bias in the household. I'm worried about getting PND again and now S is growing up, I don't really want to start again, although 6 months off work would be nice Wink. Hope the sale went well. I sold off some baby clothes and equipment at a sale last month and raised over £170 Smile and that was with 30% of money raised going to charity.

llare- that Donington day sounded great! I am a bit of a girl racer and love driving so i am a bit Envy.

Well S was a nightmare for a few nights this week, but turns out he has a new tooth so I should cut him some slack. He is however getting toddler tendencies Hmm, although when he starts crying, for example, about something he wants but can't have, we've found that if we say "calm down", he takes some deep breaths, puts his bottom lip out and stops the noise Grin. Maybe they say it at nursery or maybe he's seen his big brother do it when we say it to him...either way it's very handy- just wish i'd tried it sooner Wink.

Night night

muddleddaizy · 17/10/2010 19:59

Fi/Banned I too am Shock at the knit group leader. How insecure is she?! I think you should arrange a knit-in protest, although I do like Dandy's suggestions!

Llare sounds like you had a fantastic day. Id be too chicken for it!

Momino Hope you had a good sale. I was not impressed with our local branch - not only did they change the venue from the leaflet I had but the time too! When I finally got there it was heaving in the cramped room - anyway - rant over!

Pula I can't decided if I want to go ahead and try and convince dh for a 3rd or not. Somedays I struggle with the two I've got.

Currently Im getting quite stressed about flying tomorrow. Im a worrier anyhow but going away just makes me worse. Ds2 has not been sleeping well at all recently - I'm just hoping that he sleeps on the plane or it'll be the longest 12hrs of my life! Now I'm waffling...

Hope everyone is well.

hopalongsausage · 17/10/2010 20:18

Banned/Fi - omg! How bloody rude of that knitting wench lady person! Can you start your own knit club and poach her knitters?! Grin

I'm all a bit Hmm about the thought of another baby. I mean, I'd love to, really I would, but it just seems that we have got into such a good routine with M, I'd be buggered with all the no sleep etc again. Plus I have my gammier hip now, but my consultant said I should have a planned CS. Plus I have just applied for a new job Smile - its the one I went for in summer last year - the Lecturers job - well, they said to keep in touch, which I did, and the Head of Childrens Nursing at the uni emailed me in August to say that they were advertising again and would I apply? Ho hum. So I have. Just wish I was a few years younger then I wouldn't have to worry about it all too much....Watch this space.....

Muddled - where are you off to?

Has Spangle been on here recently? Was just wondering how she's getting on...

Smokey - you look lush. Bloody amazing. Can't believe you're 34 weeks though!

M is officially going to be starting nursery next week.... we've been surviving having both our Mums come and look after her every bloody week since May - I found a nursery just after I started back at work, but what with our house being on the market since January we kind of delayed it as we thought we'd move within 5 minutes (ha, 9 months later...) anyway, just after I found that nursery we had an offer on our house so we had to stick with our mums. Anyway, I'm only at work one day this week and DH is taking a day off.... meanwhile, settling in days start tomorrow - am I being a complete wimp in totally dreading it??!!

AND I have found a local playgroup on a day I don't work - actually in the village hall which is across the road (blimey, how country-ish I sound!) - so am going to be brave and go along to that too. I will not fall into the trap I fell into when I moved to DH's when M was one month old and I was practically stranded......

Hey ho. I had a massive roast lunch so am going to have an apricot jam sandwich (a stupid childish pleasure), a huge glass of wine, and see if I can go and watch what I want to on the telly.....

Wonder if there are going to be any halloween emoticons again?!

bannedfromknitclub · 17/10/2010 20:40

muddled will keep my fingers crossed your flight flys Wink by in a flash and the vibrations from the plane have soporific effects x
sessending stress free vibes for your trip away and the boys at home have nothing to panic them x
pula awww at S calming with bottom lip out. wow at £170 sale! here G is definitely demonstrating toddler tendencies.. this week it's a fast drumming/stamping of her feet on the spot having a right paddy when she can't get her own way. she looks so cute I usually can't help smiling at her while trying to divert her attention onto something else.
momino how was your sale?

bannedfromknitclub · 17/10/2010 21:05

sorry sausage took me so long to do my post on my phone I didn't see yours until i'd posted. you're not being a wimp.. when DS started pre school i sat blubbering in the car (after he'd happily run in). with G I dreaded ending having to have the elective cs.. it was nothing like the emergency one with DS.. so don't let a planned cs put you off if you do decide to go for it. fingers crossed for the job application too.
KC i'm still smarting but still FB/Ravelry friends with quite a few fellow KC goers.. they're a lovely bunch (including the designer too) that's why I enjoyed going. I couldn't bring myself to upset any of them or tread on the designers toes as after all she will be here and we're planning on going. i'll start a knit club in NS that'll be open to all even the competition Grin and here i'll have to teach my pals to knit or crochet so I have stitch and bitch company!

essenceofSES · 17/10/2010 22:11

saus - hello!!!! Great news about the job!
Hope settling in sessions for M go well. You doing anything for your 1st wedding anniversary?

Muddled - hope flight goes ok. Friends of mine have recently flown 12hrs and they said the cartoons kept their DS occupied when he was awake.

Pula - I must try "calm down" with O!

Banned - Your KC in NS sounds like a great plan! How is your NS move progressing? Oh and thanks for the vibes for this week!

Well DH and his brother and BIL have made a good start on the garden. The plan is for a bed of lavendar either side of the path up to the front door, a new side gate by the new kitchen and to get the lawn resown. They make a funny team - DH and his bad knee, his brother with a bad back and BIL with a bad leg!

DH's brother is quite a character - a nice guy but smokes like a chimney. I got back from church this morning and could smell cigarettes from outside on the road - yuk! (Sorry to anyone on here who smokes! I used to but the smell now really makes me feel ill!) He also won't have any of the lager that I got in for him as he says he only drinks when he's at the pub!

bannedfromknitclub · 17/10/2010 22:35

ses you paint a funny picture of the 3 of them Grin if we ever manage to move to a house i'd love a lavender border.. what type did you choose? we sent our NS application off at beg of oct.. so now the waiting starts.. for acknowledgement they received it.. for any news . we sent it recorded so know it got there we just haven't heard from NS immigration. not unusual i'm told.. many british expats have told us to get used to the waiting without news as it's frustratingly normal!

essenceofSES · 17/10/2010 22:43

Banned - sounds like you're all set for the waiting. Hope you manage to eek all your patience out for as long as is needed (and that that's not too long!)

His brother has just started complaining because he's not got any beer! I've explained that there's some in the fridge and the pub is a 20 min walk away through the fields but that's obviously not good enough!
His BIL has asked me not to post any photos of him on FB incase the social (from Ireland!) see as he's been off work following an industrial accident (hence the gammy leg) and he's awaiting a compensation pay out. He's worried that he won't get it if they see photos of him doing manual work on FB!

As for the lavendar, not chosen it exactly yet! We just have a long winding path up to the front door so they've dug out a bed about 70cm wide all the way fown both sides of the path in preparation. Will be lovely if we can get the lavendar to take properly!

bannedfromknitclub · 17/10/2010 23:00

long winding lavender path sounds dreamy. I hope your BIL gets a decent payout for the IA causing his gammy leg. Not much anyone can do to solve his beer fussing at this time on a sunday night!I think he'll just have to make do with your wonderfully provided supplies in the fridge if he's that desperate!

dandy sorry you had a pants week. At least it's over :) I hope this wk is poles apart by comparison. I too am in the would love another DC but would have to have another CS. I'm crap with anesthetics, would hope to avoid pre eclampsia (had with DS but not G luckily)and avoid a PPH (again ds's but not G's as they took precautions) . I wistfully hope for a happy accident as in all honesty I couldn't plan another DC. i've a fair bit of scar tissue in there all in all.. as i had an op pre dc's for endometriosis. not the same as everything you went through; but I just wanted to let you know you're not alone in how you feel.

bannedfromknitclub · 17/10/2010 23:36

I'm off to sleep now if this stupid cough lets me.. night all x

Hi everyone,

First and foremost:

Blush Many apologies to banned It looks like I didn't acknowledge your being banned from KC. I think you posted while I was writing and I didn't check after posting for any xpost IYKWIM. I am very Shock at the designer lady too. It does make you wonder where that all of a sudden came from after a year of happy co-existence.
Hope the waiting for the NS news isn't dragging too much.

ses Hmmm lavender bordered path. We've got a lavender bordered house and it looks very picturesk in summer.

pula £170 at the Nearly new sale?! I'll have to tell my friend who was asking me as she's considering selling her stuff through the NCT next year (she's missed the one this month)

llare That off roading thing sounded like fun

sausage Good luck with all job interview. It sounds very interesting. I hope you get it, I can imagine you being a good lecturer :) I agree with banned re the planned CS, most definitely more enjoyable than the emergency kind. I seem to be the 'victim' half the time to the the electives and the atmosphere is always lovely.
I also don't think you're a wimp. It's perfectly normal to feel a bit scared and apprehensive about leaving your lo at nursery the first time. You'll find that most mums confess to crying their eyes out after dropping their lo off. I know I did with ds Wink I hope she'll have a great day anyway.

dandy I can see how all this chat about TTC is upsetting you. It's difficult when you're all broody, but can't do anything about it. Hope you've got a better week this week :)

muddled Good luck with your flight :)

TTC Still not ruled out 100% over here. I'd still like to have a little one closer to C's age to balance things out IYSWIM. Because at the moment she's starting to become your typical spoilt little late comer Grin

C seems to be getting the hang of the sleeping through thing this week. She settled really easily with just a quick cuddle (rather than demanding milk) when waking the last few days and I've had 6h solid sleep for 2 days now. Whoohoo. Would have been more days if it weren't for DH's forgetting to take his phone to work and then working for 18h unexpectedly making me worried thing...

DH has told me that he wants to go on holiday for a week without the eldest 2 and he wants to do it before xmas Grin and he wants to go somewhere warm Grin Grin Personall I can't see it happening as it's a teeny weeny bit late to request annual leave for me and the 2 weeks I do have booked in November he can't get off. Still if it does materialise it'd be absolutely great Grin

bannedfromknitclub · 18/10/2010 11:10

Ooo belgina an unexpected possible holiday! will keep fingers crossed it all falls into place :) and well done C with her sleeping Grin. wrt KC my guess is to do with my previous work being crochet (which she doesn't do) & the alphabet stuff being knitted. I first tried doing it in crochet but it didn't work nearly as well so had to be knitted to look how I pictured it in my head. Apparently my going had been "worrying her for a while". never mind. it's not really important in the big picture of things & at least it's given me a new fantasticly interesting rebellious name Grin.

bannedfromknitclub · 18/10/2010 11:14

btw i'm mid typing the hat pattern atm as G has jus tgone down for a nap.. Back in a bit :)

belgina · 18/10/2010 11:38

That's OK. Still working on that blanket. Im not quit sure wether it's square or not. One minute I look at it and think it's fine and the next I think it looks like it's getting narrowe Confused Maybe I was a bit ambitious with the stripeyness. It sort of confuses me as to where to put my first stitch after joining the new colour IYKWIM. I could do with a knitting/crochet club in the area Grin

momino · 18/10/2010 13:52

I am quite sad about H growing past babyhood and knowing this stage is over for us. The NN sale was tough in that I felt really separated from all the young mums with tiny babies and/or bumps there. getting rid of baby clothes and feeling wistful that time flies too quickly. I think it would be different if I actually were pregnant again and would probably be in Shock and terrified. saying that, H was an 'accident', was Shock at first but now so in love with her, it's overwhelming.

back to the sale, I didn't make that much, just had a bouncy chair to sell which went for £25 so I know I made at least 70% of that! (30% goes to the NCT). I'd taken 3 bags of clothes and came back with 2 so maybe made £5-10 on top of the chair. not great but it's something, right? Pula, amazed at your £170! that's well worth it.

Dandy, hopeyou're having a good start to a better week. Wish I could think of something cheery and clever to say to make you smile

Sorry all. I meant to come back ages ago with my apprentice goss. Nothing happening twin wise, just RL!

Anyway will post this and then do a proper catch up.

So......

My friends neighbour was on the Boots panel on the last episode ( the one in the middle with the dark curly hair). Apparently the producers were trying the steer the Boots people towards a particular team (don't know which one I'm afraid) but the Boots people said no, they would make their own minds up. They didn't actually like the girls invention but liked the name which was why they were trying to negotiate a bit on the exclusivity thing, and also the girls did go back in within 5 minutes and say they would do exclusivity but Boots said, sorry too late. There was lots and lots of filming done, it took most of a day and included filming in a store, but of course all you saw was 2 minutes!

I was slightly disappointed about the attempt by the tv people trying to steer the decision one way, as this seems against the grain of the programme.

Anyway, thats it folks. Probably not as interesting as you all hoped! Sorry.

smokeybacon · 18/10/2010 20:39

FFS.

Twice I have now written a long post. First I pressed the wrong button and then the farking computer turned itself off.

I have caught up with the last few days and had loads to say, but I can't now bring myself to do another long post so I will wave at everyone, and say will be back tomorrow to do a NC. And spooks is on in a minute.
