here we are. How long will this thread last?

llare, Shock at your NCT friend's attitude towards 'choosing' friends. that's very sad indeed. and dandy, Shock as well re: your friend promoting that petition. sigh.
Fi, thanks for holding up the thread across sat/sun Grin! the thread really has slowed down.

Belgina, you mean you don't have C potty trained yet? H has been out of nappies since we started holding her over the potty every five minutes at 8 weeks old Wink. um not really. i am so busy doing other things I don't have time to potty train until she's physically and psychologically ready, thank you.

speaking of time, I've got a quiet hour to do some work so best get to it.

Hope everyone I haven't namechecked is ok.

HELLOOOOOOOOO

As Dandy has said, I have had pc difficulties. My laptop needs to go to laptop heaven, I can't access MN at work, and generally only FB on my blackberry (yah, get me). SO we finally (as of Saturday) have a brand spanking new whizzy pc, on a whizzy new desk in our whizzy new study in our whizzy new house.

M is with my Mum all week as I have to go to work tomorrow (usually Thursdays and Fridays) so I am OFF ALL DAY ON WEDNESDAY with no baby! I shall MN to my hearts content in my pyjamas, possibly open some wine at lunchtime and generally loaf. Mwah ha ha! I shall catch up with you all then and fill you in my non-exciting life (apart from meeting up with Dandy the other day, and moving, life is pretty much the same, but I'll be back!!)

(Took me bloody AGES to find this thread! Ended up finding one a year ago and then clicking on links to the next thread. Did you know, a year ago we all had halloweeny names and I was about to get married?! What a corker of a hen night we had on here!!)

FiByTheIcySea · 11/10/2010 20:11

helloo sausage lovely to have you back and with whizzy new pc in new home too! will be back in a bit.. heading off for a bath.. that hen night was a blast Grin

Loobylou36 · 11/10/2010 21:59

can't believe gert has another little one Smile

and all these other lo's on the way Shock Envy

flipflopsattheready · 12/10/2010 11:57

Hello everyone!!!!

Have skimmed very quickly so have spotted the BFPs and Gert's new arrival Shock Grin but is there anything else I've missed?! 6 weeks is a long time offline, thanks BT for all your help.

Move all went smoothly, girls settling in well. A is finally in her own room, last night was the first night and apart from a quick resettle at 1 she slept until 5:40! I don't expect it to last at all. DD1 has started a new pre-school and loves it. We've been on holiday with the inlaws (not as bad as it could have been!), DH has been away for work, but now hopefully things will settle down and we can get sorted here. A bit of redecorating to do and we need more furniture but I can't believe how muh more space we have.

Right, must talk to chidren! catch up soon x

smokeybacon · 12/10/2010 13:47

Afternoon all,

Congratulations to gert. Well done and lovely pics!

Have FINALLY posted bump pics but have inadvertantly made them viewable on FB ( I intended to put them on our secret FB site). Haven't told DH yet that I had them. Guess I will have to now! I was going to keep them as a surprise for him.

Gosh was it a year ago that saus got married!! WOnder how many gigs sexybuilder has had since then? Good to see you back here saus.

flipflopsattheready · 13/10/2010 09:18

Oh dear, did I scare everyone off (apart from you Smokey Wink)?

Hope everyone is ok!

runningmonkey · 13/10/2010 19:53

Helllloooooo! I'm here :)

Welcome back flip and saus and looby.

Fab pics smokey

Supposed to be doing lesson plans for the rest of the week so better go but wanted to show that you haven't scared us all away :)

essenceofSES · 13/10/2010 20:36

Hello! I'm here too :)

Smokey - I love your bump pictures. Really makes me think about getting some done if when I get pg again!

Running - hope you're feeling ok. Good luck with the lesson planning.

Flip - hello! We missed you! Glad things are settling down.

Looby - yay for ttc!

Saus - you've been missed too! Hope you enjoyed your day to yourself today. One year since your hen do Shock

Momino - LOL at holding H over the potty from 8 weeks Grin
No way O is anywhere near ready for potty training and I've decided I'm going to try really hard to just chill and go with his timescales - even if that is another couple of years away.

Pula - Glad you had a good break

Other Mums - I've been really lucky with my NCT and my post natal groups as we all still get on really well. I am starting to see differences in parenting styles but we get on well enough to chat about it and laugh about it. Hope that continues!
I also met up with another mum from O's nursery and her DS this afternoon which worked well.

Right - I must do some ironing (whilst watching The Apprentice!)

Hello to Dandy, Llare, Fi, Febes, Reggiee, Ommnom, Belgina and anyone else I've missed.

smokeybacon · 15/10/2010 09:29

Morning ladies,

Thank you all for your lovely comments about the pics. I am feeling HUUUUGGGGGGGEEEEE at the moment, so a bit of ego massaging feels great.

BUsy day today. DH is out at a beer festival from 1pm [hmmm] and so am on my own all day. I don't really mind him going out but am keeping my legs crossed that nothing happens today (34 weeks today). I think I would be leaving him at home if anything kicks off overnight.

Interesting chat about Mummy mates. I've got two or three from my orginal AN group with DS1 that I see all the time (ie last night and again this morning!!). We have similar parenting styles I guess, and through out the last 5 years we have "merged" with another AN group through nursery connections as our eldest ones are all the same age and they all now go to the same school. I think we have been very lucky as we are all quite similar in parenting, and general tastes and all the DHs get on well too (its the other halves that my DH is out with today).

Sorry not to NC everyone, but rest assured I have read everyones posts and FB posts. I just can't keep it all in my head at the moment to draft suitably sensible/witty/supportive replies. I hope I can keep up with everyone once the twins arrive. Happy Friday everyone! xx

smokeybacon · 15/10/2010 09:31

PS ses wasn't The Apprentice hilarious?? Although the girls were super cringeworthy in the board room.

I have some inside knowledge from a pal who works at Boots if you are interested!!!

It doesnt help that i can only go fortnightly 2 the groups i go to.↲Im off to South Africa on Monday with my dc. My Sil has flown over 2 help me out on the flight! Unfortunately I wont be able to meet up with Febes as well b in different parts of the country.↲ this looks like its merging into one on my phone so ill finish here.

muddleddaizy · 15/10/2010 19:50

Ooo not only do I have managed to have my last post all in one paragraph I've managed to get weird characters in there too - sigh!

FiByTheIcySea · 15/10/2010 20:37

evening! welcome back all long time no sees Grin lovely to have you back.. mind you i'm not managing on here much either so kinda a long time no see too Blush
i'm in a weird mood tonight so excuse me.. i have been banned from the knit club i enjoyed going to once a month! i've never been banned from anything before and i'm torn between finding it sorta funny while at the same time being rather upset. I wish I could say it was for rude behavior or something juicy but basically it's because of my new batch of knitting patterns i've launched recently. The lady that runs the group feels it doesn't make good business sense to have another designer (apart from herself) there. I suppose she feels it would threaten her patterns, kits and yarn sales. I kinda understand but i've sold patterns ever since i joined last year and never once have I ever touted for business there. our products are totally different too.. she does ladies gloves scarves & bags etc.. where i'm more kids based. sorry didn't mean to moan i'm just a bit gutted.

Anyway.. i'm in need of cheering up so what have you all got planned for the weekend?

belgina · 15/10/2010 20:44

Hi Everyone,

First a big welcome back to Sausage and Muddled and Flip Grin

running To answer your question: There are so many types of sling to look at and try and in a way only you will know which one is right for you. I loved wraps with newborns, but couldn't get on with the Moby either. I used woven wraps, but they have a huuuge learning curve. There are nice buckled slings out there, which are easier and also ring slings and Mei Tais. If you have a look at the slingguide for more info about what's out there. What's really really helpful IMO is actually trying the slings out. Have a look at the sling meet website]] to see if there's one in your area. Finally there's a slinging forum called Natural Mamas where you can ask loadsa questions and there are babywearing consultants and experienced babywearers and everything on there to answer all your questions. It was very very helpful for me when I first started using 'real' wraps. HTH

Not much going on here otherwise, except for C developing into a little telly addict who screams whenever the telly is paused/switched off. First time she did it I thought she'd got hurt, she screamed that badly!

Hope everyone is OK. Weekend tomorrow :)

llareggub · 15/10/2010 21:35

I am totally Shock at the behaviour of the other designer, fi! I actually think it shows her in a very bad light. After all, two designers (especially one as talented as you) would surely attract more attendees? I suspect she is feeling rather threatened by your talent. I've loved seeing your pictures, they are great.

Smokey I loved the bump pictures too. You look amazing! Do spill on the Apprentice insider news, won't you?!

We've just got back from Donington where we had a Ford track day thanks to Mumsnet. It was absolutely fanbloodytastic and I'm so thankful to Mumsnet and Ford. I went off-roading in some sort of Ford truck thing. It was amazing; I did things in that truck I didn't think possible and after I drove I cowered in the back while DH had a go. We had a rally car driver as an instructor and he was very patient encouraging. We then got to do some laps in a Kuga before being driven by a racing driver in a Ford RS.

It was a great day and I got to meet lots of lovely mumsnetters who were all very coy about their MN names. If they run it again I really can't recommend it enough. We even got goody bags to take home with MP3 players and etch-a-sketches for the children.

Shattered now though.

Hello to everyone and bon voyage muddled!

FiByTheIcySea · 15/10/2010 22:43

dandy llare thanks. I agree llare that she must have viewed me as a possible threat.. i too think it's short sighted as even if someone did by one of my PDF's online they'd need yarn to make it and she stocks the loveliest yarns locally. The knit club is for customers of hers of which I have been. although i have never purchased any of her patterns i did buy lots of yarn to make my samples. she has a full time other job while she endeavors to build this knit one in her spare time. she knows about out NS plans and have no desire to pursue sales locally as I need my pattern sales to be unaffected when we relocate.. i have taken her reaction to my stuff as a back handed compliment. dandy lol at me stabbing someone with a knitting needle.. i can imagine a scenario of ladies fighting over a last ball of must have yummy yarn to add to their already over flowing huge stash Grin
my bf here also made me laugh.. she texted me earlier to say " the only woman i'll ever meet that is banned from a knitting circle! 1 to keep the kids guessing when they're older-where did mum get banned from"Grin
llare sounds like a fantastic day out! i would be way too chicken to do that!
belgina C & the tv made me Smile i'm surprised our G hasn't done the same here tbh with the amount of time it's on somedays.. i often turn the channel over to heart FM & she jiggles and bobs to the music.

FiByTheIcySea · 15/10/2010 22:48

sorry for typos on phone and didn't have a chance to check as DS has just stumbled through.

momino · 16/10/2010 00:51

Fi, that's just rubbish about your former knitting circle. just not worth it. and love the line, 'the only woman I'll ever meet that is banned from a knitting circle Grin.

Hello long-lost friends, Flip, Saus, Muddled!

it's almost 1am so won't write long. just have been labelling things for the nearly New Sale here tomorrow. and so, so Sad to see some of the cute clothes go, especially the ones from dd1 that have also been worn by the other 2.

I do almost wish we'd have another. even DH half-jokingly said he'd get a reverse on the snip. i'm so broody but sure it's not right to have another. sigh.

sorry I've not been on here much. we're really slow on this thread aren't we?

HOpe everyone is well. good night!

FiByTheIcySea · 16/10/2010 09:21

momino good luck with the sale today & ikwym about our dc's clothes & broodiness your right of course about my exKC.. it's not worth being upset over. i'll get over it. my bf also said we should start a knit / toddler group.. who knows maybe we will!

runningmonkey · 16/10/2010 15:04

belg thank you :) I'll check out all of those links and see if there is a meet near me - might start looking out for second hand buckle or Mei Tais too.

Hello to everyone else. Sorry not to nc properly but am feeling rubbish and low today (terrible insomnia at the mo) so am going for a long soak in the bath while DH has taken A into town to buy me a birthday present - he was v unsubtle as to his reasons for needing to go into town!

Oh fi can't resist a Shock and a bit of a :o. Thrown out of knitting club indeed. Am also Angry on your behalf though, what a stupid woman.
