omnomnomtom, hope you're feeling well!

ladies, i've posted this on general health about spotting but no one's replied. any of you experience this?

i only notice in the afternoon and it hasn't continued today so perhaps it was a one-off. it's just that i've never had spotting between periods which is why I got a bit worried. but then I'm always worried... Hmm

I guess I figured I would see gp only if it continued.

momino - have bumped your thread for you but not sure what to advise other than to wait and see if you get any more.

Ommnom - thanks for the offer! I'll FB message you :)

I've had 2 people ask me if I'm pg in the last 24hrs Blush First one was last night when I was at my usual church group and the elderly lady that I give a lift too announced to everyone "Sarah has a secret!" My priest immediately patted his tummy and asked "Are you?" What she then said was that my secret was that I didn't drink tea or coffee!
Then today was my own stupid fault. We were at Jo Jingles and one of the other mums said she's due her DC#2 on 13th Feb. I said "Oh, I'm the 15th!" They naturally thought I meant I was pg too, not that my birthday is 15th Blush

Anyway, hope everyone else is ok despite it being quiet on here!

momi Just a quick one to answer your question, or at least to give you my own experience. After each of the 3 babies my periods came back totally different. After dd1 I regularly had spotting about a week before my period was due, which I don't get anymore since having C. I went to the GP and they told me it was normal and quite common. Another thing: you don't happen to have the coil, do you? If it keeps happening then it might be worth a trip to the drs, just to check your hormone levels etc...

Hi to everyone else. I'm off to bed now + DH really wants the computer.

Night everyone :)

momino · 07/10/2010 13:36

thanks for bumping Ses.

belgina, thanks. no coil here but do wonder if it's a hormonal thing? It stopped now but if it happens again, I'll visit the GP for reassurance just like you suggest.

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick message to say that DD2 was born on Friday 1st October 2010, weighing a cracking 10lb 1oz (as the surgeon said 'you had a sumo wrestler in your belly'). Born by elcs. Name - Sally Joan.

We were in hospital til monday due to some latching and feeding issues (S refused to latch so I'm now expressing and will do so til my milk dries up). But now we're home all is well and DD1 is overjoyed with her new sister and can't stop laughing at her and squealing with joy!

There are photos on our secret facebook page.

Hello to everyone [Gert waves madly in her best sleep deprived state].

aw Gert, love the photos. thank you so much for letting us know even though you must be so busy and tired! she's so gorgeous and you must be so happy! all best wishes.

hi Dandy, the playgroup Thing. almost a bit like speed dating at times trying to meet potential mum-friends Grin. luckily, I go to a playgroup where I know a few of the women pre-playgroup so it's not been too difficult. I guess I'm in a Pocke t of Friendship but do try to chat to everyone especially if they're on their own.

Harper's been so uncharacteristically stroppy and difficult. she' has had a couple of screaming fits in the past few days but I'm not sure why. she's got a bit of a cold but doesn't seem too poorly. thinking it's a) teeth, b)cold, c)growth spurt, d) changing into a toddler... choose one or two.

hope all are well tonight! i'm having a martini after a long day of clingy, screaming toddler plus tantrumming dd2. on the bright side, dd1 was helpful Smile and she's usually the most difficult.

belgina · 08/10/2010 21:59

Hi everyone,

gert Congratulations!! Your dd2's gorgeous. She looks her weight too Grin Re the latching trouble. YOu could keep offering her the boob every so often, she might latch one of these days. Some babes are a bit like that Confused

dandy That mum sounded a bit Hmm Good idea to give her a miss. Not easy finding mummy friends, but then I'm not good at finding friends full stop... Hope your search will turn up some suitable friend material soon...

momi C's been like that the last month or so. Very clingy (see fb video Wink), tantrums when not indulged in need for 1) walking holding on to my fingers, 2) banging on keyboard while grown up is on key board 3) can't have anymore chocolate/biscuit/raisins/etc...

I'm home alone now. DH is at work, ap is out with a friend. If I had known this earlier than I would have got in some supplies like wine or a nice snack. But I didn't so I've got to live with water and a piece of toast

Oh and my mum is, well being my mum again She's asked today whether C is potty trained yet Hmm She doesn't even walk yet and is only 16m!!! I know this is the start of regular questions and prodding from now on. She did it with ds and dd1 too, dd1 was 3yo when she was dry. I'm hoping, for my own sanity, that C will be a bit quicker than dd1

FiByTheIcySea · 08/10/2010 22:22

hi everyone Smile I've finished a major amount of my pattern writing so hope to be able to pop in more often now. I uploaded 34 patterns for sale over last 48hrs and i've sold some already! an amazing start and that's before i've listed them onto my other craft sites.. my next job for the weekend. anyway enough about me..
gert i saw your FB post and just have to say huge congratulations again on your beautiful DD2. Hope you're getting some rest when you can. x
momino sorry no advice about your spotting x I too would monitor it and maybe chat to doc. our G has been unusually clingy, grumpy and crying at bed time for most of this wk. she does have some snot but I suspect her next teeth are on the move as I ended up giving her calpol before bed and her mood transformed completely.
dandy i'm with you on that mum's attitude.. it too would slowly drive me bonkers.

FiByTheIcySea · 08/10/2010 22:28

belgina mmm toast.. one of those things the smell of always makes me want some.. chips is another Grin sympathy re your mum's questions. x

FiByTheIcySea · 09/10/2010 22:23

Ooo some interesting x factor selections this year. haven't watched strictly yet..but it's been recorded.

FiByTheIcySea · 10/10/2010 08:37

morning everyone! what are you all doing today? it's cloudy and drizzly here.. i'm probably going to have to do the errands we were supposed to do yesterday. We never made it out as G had mammoth nap 10.30am - 2pm! by the time she'd had lunch it was hardly worth going out.. none of the errands are desperate but they're for mum and she pesters!

belgina · 10/10/2010 11:40

It's lovely and sunny here. No real exciting plans as I'm too shattered from too many broken nights. Last night c was especially restless, put it down to her chest and nose and fever, then at 3 I noticed her nappy had leaked and it turned out she'd done a midnight poo Hmm Once nappy changed she slept really well, but DH's alarm then woke her at 6.30 and she's been up ever since. She's still poorly though and just had some nice cuddly time in the sling.

Hope everyone is well today. It's been awfully quiet on the thread lately :)

FiByTheIcySea · 10/10/2010 14:58

belgina pj day here.. the errands got the heave ho as i've spent the last 4nights waking myself up having massive coughing fits and too shattered tbh to trail about the shops. more than a little fed up with the coughing now. glad DS is over it but would have preferred him to have not shared it!!

llareggub · 10/10/2010 16:08

Hello!

We've been out in the sunshine too. We went into town and tried and failed to buy trainers for DS1 who started football yesterday. There is something pretty soul-destroying about large sportswear shops. The staff were all hiding from customers and seemed pretty miffed to be asked for help. Anyway, we had a lovely coffee outside in the sunshine so that made up for it.

Dandy that mother would have done me in too. I am currently extricating myself from a friend I made at NCT, who has the children the same age as mine. She told me last week she is avoiding another mother because she does not want to encourage her child to be friends with a little boy with a speech defect. I told her that I didn't think that was a very nice thing to do, and she tried to justify herself. So I definitely agree that life is too short to spend time with parents who have different parenting styles.

DS2 is still a nightmare sleeping, but I am reassured that it is common to regress at 18 months sleepwise. At the moment he is a nightmare and we are struggling quite a bit. But I am clinging on to this 18 month thing in the hope that "this too will pass."

Enjoy the sunshine everyone!

Gert beautiful pictures!

Evening ladies,

gert- lovely photos of your DDs and congrats on the arrival of not-so-little S Smile. gert - as Belgina mentioned it might be worth trying to get S to latch again, but otherwise, I have known people express and bottle-feed exclusively for 4-6 months (my SIL has done it twice) so don't worry about milk drying up, although to keep production up, it does involve expressing during the night which isn't a very attractive proposition when you aren't getting much sleep anyway and then have to wake up to express.

momino- hope H is behaving herself Wink. S is actually more manageable ATM than a month or so ago. But since doing a minute's "time out" when he does something we don't want him to do (for example turning the TV on and off continuously or removing the TV card) he has stopped doing those things. I know it seems young to start, but he obviously understands. You can see him think about repeating the behaviour and then stops himself. Can you tell the TV is a major part of our home life Blush

playgroups - i only have 1 day off in the week, but go to the same playgroup most weeks. There are a few mums I chat to, and some I have no interest in chatting to. But i really miss a group i went to with S which was basically taking it in turns to host coffee and cake at home. We really got on well, and i still go out socially with the mums.

Well DH and I had a lovely break without DCs Wink. We did a lot of chatting about having a DC4, and have decided to give it 6 months to decide either way, and if we decide not to go for it, DH will be booked in for the snip Grin.

runningmonkey · 11/10/2010 13:32

Hi all,

playgroups I am Shock at dandy and llare's run-ins and it makes me feel lucky that I have met about four other Mums at our local new parents group who I get on with brilliantly and our lo's are within a fortnight of each other. I am considered the mad hippy one of the bunch though because of my exploits with reusables and blw :o Other than that if I do make it to baby groups, there are a few other Mums that I get on with really well but I have had to avoid my nearest neighbour with a DS about a month older than A as we differ so wildly about many things (not just parenting related) it was doing my head in. A bit awkward but for the best I think.

pula glad you had a good time away.

testing behaviour A is also a bit trying at the moment. Most recently it has been climbing up onto the sofa/armchairs and standing up right on the edge . I haven't considered time out instead trying to distract her but interesting to know it works so will keep it in mind.

Belgian I was wondering if you could give me some advice about one of your favourite topics Wink I am hoping to get away without needing to buy a double buggy and using a sling for the new baby and then pushchair for A (and poss getting a buggy board if needed). I struggled with my Moby last time - not sure if it was partly because it was so hot when I first tried to use it. Anyway, sorry am wittering... My question is, what wrap(s) would you recommend? and do you have any good links for places to get advice on slings and using them? Thank you!

I am feeling pretty sick and tired still but realised that at 10 weeks today I am 1/4 of the way through already! Am already in some of my maternity trousers and bf bras from A are feeling snug already Hmm. Told my Mum last weekend and she is soooo excited, telling the inlaws this weekend as although its early they are paying for us to go on hol with them next Feb and we need to check I am still ok to fly and if not, see if they can take one of DH's other siblings instead.

Argh, A is awake - thought I had at least another 30 mins to put my feet up! Hello to everyone else and congrats again Gert :)
