Good morning ladies. Feeling much better here. Just wasn't getting enough protein. Hmm The cold is lifting too so was able to get up and have breakfast with DD but then DH had to ruin the morning by not listening to me from a few days ago and seems to remember a whole conversation that went a different way which I know I never would have said because I never would have put the damn travel pepper mill where he claims I said I put. Ya, excruciatingly trivial, but man I was pissed.

I always had DD in a sling and I found things like running the tap or sitting on the washing machine while it was running worked. MInd you, we don't have one of those nice little energy saving side loaders but a 25 year old energy guzzling traditional North American monster washing machine that is destroying my clothes... my whites go grey after the first wash, no matter how much bleach I use. What's up with that?

Not sure if DD and I will be getting up to much today. Don't want to push it too much. Will probably just take a walk down to the lake as it is sunny today. Ciao for now.

Bloodandsnakesplease · 13/10/2010 19:40

Next week sounds chilly to say the least and another cold Winter apparently. Chef must see this sort of cold weather every year though in Canada Smile

Rrrrayray · 13/10/2010 19:41

Hi all. Sorry for lack of MNetting.

stripey Herpes in Toddlers, wow, never would have guessed. Hope C is back on the mend and tucking into her food! :)

Chef Sorry to hear of UG + girlfriend's inconsiderate manner!!! Is it worth DH having a word with him? Man to man rather than you? Make him realise its effecting you All as a family.

Tink Sorry about bleeding. Hope your not anymore.

Got to go, DH just put 1st Apprentice on (Recorded) and a girl i used to know on it..... interesting!

Rrrrayray · 13/10/2010 20:59

Seems to be one thing after another with E at the moment. Has a horrible Wheezy chest this evening, and has just woken up in a right state. Will get her to doctor in the morning if doesn't improve, any tips incase she wakes tonight what could Ease it and help her sleep? She already has snuffle babe on her chest.

Bloodandsnakesplease · 13/10/2010 21:20

Steam? But that's not possible whilst they sleep.

Rrrrayray · 13/10/2010 21:33

Yeah that had dawned on me, but like you say, shes asleep!!!! We had to steam SO much when she had Croup as a nipper.

Think i will leave her to sleep for now and hope for the best. We still have a monitor in her room, so i'm sure we'll hear if she is upset/ more wheezy.

Just spoken to friend who going to visit tomorrow and turns out her son had viral wheeze a few weeks ago & was in hosp for 2 nights etc. Hope it isn't that!!

chefswife · 13/10/2010 21:56

Ray We've been using a homeopathic cough syrup, Stodal, which comes in various name brands here but not sure in the UK. DD and I have been stuffy and chesty coughs for about a week now. Just starting to feel the lift. Just be sure she gets lots of pure fruit juice (no sugar added and not from concentrate) and put VitD drops in it and keep her hands washed. I might sound a little OTT but I also go through all of DD's toys and anything that can, goes in the dishwasher or washing machine.

Its funny to watch people you know in these reality shows eh? I worked with Ziggy at the Babylon lounge at Gilgamesh. I watched the opener because it was all women and that seemed like a very interesting idea and then the next week they introduced him and I just about fell off my seat in laughter thinking how the hell did he keep that a secret. I almost went down for auditions but I was soooooo hungover on absinthe... probably would have got in just on that merit. lol.

Dh talking to uncle wouldn't do a thing but I can't really explain why. Today I asked UG why he put sawdust on the driveway where we park, as he puts sawdust down to suck up oil, etc, from the cars but as our car is brand new and just been serviced a few days ago I thought perhaps he spilled something. So I asked and he said my car leaked fluids this morning and I laughed and said, "Ya, its called condensation that comes from the bottom of the door when you open it... the spot is no where near anywhere where fluids would be leaking anyhow." He didn't say anything.

EEK! Did I miss a namechange? Who's Blood?

We had a fab walk at the lake this morning. There's been a few houses come up for sale around there but they go so fast. There is a place up for sale that is a bit run down and its directly next to a rental property that seems to party a lot in the summer time but that can be fixed with a few calls... there's zero tolerance around here for tenants as there is so many of them, landlords are taking the three strikes your out seriously. Going to have a look. If we can scrounge $10,000, we could get in. Scrounge $10,000...lol

chefswife · 13/10/2010 21:58

I forgot to say Ziggy was on Big Brother... he and that Victoria Beckham lookalike. What a freak she was in real life too. I just wanted to smack her when she was talking to me.

Bloodandsnakesplease · 13/10/2010 22:33

It's me Tea Smile Getting in the Halloween theme on the other name thread.

chefswife · 13/10/2010 22:40

lol Blood

Bloodandsnakesplease · 13/10/2010 22:43

Halloween nickname thread

Chef how nice would it be to move into that place by the lake? Sounds lush, despite needing a little tlc, thinking positive thoughts that somehow you'd find some funds from somewhere.

dog, nooo, not mastitis, I imagine that's the last thing you need. Sounds like some good sling advice from tree - we loved the moby although it's a bit of a faff winding it all up, and the mei tais look great, I will def be buying one this time around.

Which one do you know ray? What a cat fight it was last night! It's so heavily produced now though, I feel sorry for them really - they all looked pretty young, and a whole personality is created for them with just a couple of lines.

chef that house sounds lovely - can't believe there is anything cheap going by the lake, you should snap it up! Now, where to find 10,000...

How funny that you used to work with Ziggy. He was a nice guy, just a bit naive. You should have come to the auditions - imagine, our paths might have crossed (in fact they prob did as I used to go to gilgamesh sometimes). Small world.

tree bet you were pleased to see DD yesterday - that's so lovely of your mum to look after her for so long. I think I am going to try out a sleepover at grannys in the next 2 weeks.

Have read everything but can't retain in my baby brain, sorry. Quieter week after busy weekend, but have another full weekend coming up, cooking for 24 again. Ugh. Then just 2 weeks until Aus. Have done nothing and organised nothing. Oh well, nothing like a deadline to motivate me...

missjackson · 14/10/2010 09:08

blood is tea btw.

tinkhasboughtoutalltheshops · 14/10/2010 09:34

morning - oh no dog
hope esme is better this morning

Bloodandsnakesplease · 14/10/2010 10:07

Oh DOG you poor thing. I've always liked TikToks advice for how to feed on hands and knees with them laying on the floor to help clear the blocked ducts and other funny tips. Hope it clears up soon xx

Lenni · 14/10/2010 16:46

Hi folks, sorry for going AWOL. Had a job interview straight after getting back from hols the letter was on the doormat so commence mad preparation and I got the job today. Yay. Anyway, hope things better today dog, mastitis not nice. Hot baths shifted my blocked ducts. Don't go too mad though, am sure my crazy attempts to shift it caused blinking breast lump which I still worry about. It is gradually going though, only taken a year!

Back when not on phone.

Lenni · 14/10/2010 18:44

Tree - does your DH have any recent experience of volunteering in a school? I'm sure he's done this but if not will need some to discuss at inteview.

Lenni · 14/10/2010 18:45

Ray - hope dd better. Was it croup?

Lenni · 14/10/2010 18:49

MissJ- 2 weeks til oz, I can't believe how that has gone. How exciting! How is that bump coming along? We need pics! Have you sorted the HWB plans? What will you do about mw checks while away?

Lenni · 14/10/2010 18:58

Tree - also get him to mention any school experience on ucas form. Some LAs do taster days which would be good on his form. As for reading, he will need knowledge of some key issues in Ed. Start with the guardian on a tues or TES (Times Educational Supplement) for some ideas. He'll also need a clear vision of exactly why he wants to teach. Get him to talk it over with you and then condense into clear, salient points. Worth a phone call/email to tutors at the institution(s) he's applying to to ask what they are looking for. This also has the added benefit of them recognising his name when application goes in. If they do an open day then make sure he goes and chats with the tutors. He'll be recognised at interview then. Where is he applying? I may know someone there I can put you in touch with.

treedelivery · 14/10/2010 20:28

Hi all.

Have the voms again today. Seems a weekly event. Poor dd missed school, she was gutted as it was her tables treat day [baking] for getting however many merit point things. Bummer or what. SHe vomited in night though, so could hardly go in.

Chef - house sounds amazing really. I don't know what lake or what it all looks like, but I have a very fixed idea in my head, and it's a pretty one Grin

Poor DOG. The pits for you, I hope it passes asap.

Who have I missed?

Lenni - dh does an hour a week in school, plus he did 3 or 4 full days last half term. So we hope that by next June he will have about 50 hours or so. We have gone on about this at length on the UCAS form Grin. Especally considering he works 40 hrs a week. He's done well, shown so much dedication.
He is applying for primary teaching at Hull. He is known to the tutour as he went to 2 open days and has emailed 100's of questions. I hope we aren't driving them insane Confused

One odd thing, is that they are interviewing in November, and want the forms in by end of month. But Ucas say January for the form, so this makes no sense. Maybe they want his in as he is an independant applicant, no school. I don't know. Odd.

maybe, although you have a new job and have no tme, but maybe you could rad the personal statement????????????

But listen. CONGRATULATIONS. I think you will be very happy back in post, it sounds great. You must be so delighted to have clinched it. Well bloody done!

Lenni · 14/10/2010 20:36

Of course I will Tree, fb msg me it.

I am pleased. Is right up my street. And get to do work with pregnant teens too which I'll love. Don't start til jan.

treedelivery · 14/10/2010 20:49

Oooo lovely, even better that you have until Jan to totally suck up and milk being at home and do a goodhousekeeping christmas - whilst knowing that you have a bg fat get out of jail card too. Best of both worlds Smile

Thank you thank you than you. Messaging now Grin Be brutal honest. He is applying forone course, one uni. It's all or nothing!
