Veggiemummy · 12/10/2010 11:31

Hey rubs sorry to hear DD is snuffly. How's your shoulder?

LadyThompson · 12/10/2010 13:10

Hoping you are ok today, Rubes. And how is DD?

The shame of Iggle Piggle continues! The Premier tickets (first four rows) are £27.50, the unreserved are £17.50. And if you want the tickets posted to you it costs £5. But if you want to collect the tickets on the day - it also costs £5. I am no penny pincher but they are taking the piss.

My friend's wife who was hoping to have the hypnobirth thing had her baby girl this morn, after a 36 hr labour Shock They wanted no doctors/drugs/interventions so I don't know how that went but v pleased to hear about their new arrival.

Have to dash - off to Bicester Village today (cut price designer retail 'shopping village') for some treats.

Veggiemummy · 12/10/2010 13:38

Well done to your friend and her baby sniff sniff baby girl. No its, alright I'm not jealous my boys are great. Just feeling a bit boyed out today as I have both boys at home. Mum isn't being as hands on as I expected, I guess because she's been unwell. She & my stepdad have gone out for a walk. They go home tomorrow and while I'll miss them I'm ready to say goodbye. I'm actually a bit exhausted of them being here. I've been basically keeping house for 2 extra adults. Thankfully DH has been doing the lions share of the cooking. Good man.

Right I'm being yelled at better go.

Veggiemummy · 12/10/2010 13:47

Hey Lady could DP take her and you can use the money you save at the champagne bar at westfields. I'm sure there is room to park DD's buggy.

SummerLightning · 12/10/2010 14:00

Hi everyone,
Back from holiday in Scotland, had a fantastic time, but slightly knackered due to a week of sleeping all four of us in one room - we usually ignore DS in the morning until 7, he sometimes yells briefly and then plays, but when in the same room if he wakes up he just SCREAMS at us to get up (any time from 5:30 to 7 so not that bad)!! So we have been getting up somewhat earlier than normal and going to bed somewhat later than normal, plus a 7hr car journey back on Sunday = KNACKERED.
The wedding was excellent (dress and shoes again a hit) and we again managed to get DS to sleep in his pushchair in the corner of a room full of noisy pissheads, so we stayed out til near the end. Had a lovely time visiting DH's aunt and uncle too, who are such welcoming people, and loved cuddling DD and playing with DS so was reasonably relaxing!

rubes sorry to hear your shoulder is still playing up. How is it today?? Hope DD is feeling better.

ladyt shocking about ITNG, so if you sit in the front 4 rows, you have to pay 27.50 for the priveledge of having DD2 on your lap??? Flippin heck! Wear a big coat and a sling and smuggle her in!

rubes my DS is very cheerful and smiley but he always says no when i ask for cuddle! it doesn't stop me asking though - gosh I must come across so desperate! Occasionally he will give me a kiss though.

Oh beans hurrah for your sleeping through DD2, that is fab. My DD is doing pretty well now. in fact after the wedding she had a screamathon feed at midnight but then slept until 6:30!! So almost sleeping through, kind of. Last night she went 8 til 3:30 and then 4 til 7:30, which is just amazing too. I have been trying to dreamfeed her in the hope I could get her to go all night but she will just not wake up!

spot and avo good luck with the house hunting. Super stressful stuff. avo I see you are having a bit of a drama with it on facebook so I hope you can sort everything out.

I have been lurkig while I have been away but am struggling to remember anything I wanted to say. Hope you are all good.

Beans33 · 12/10/2010 18:41

YO BABIES! How are you all doing?

Lady - boycott it. That is bloody awful. Quelle rip off - I am disenchanted with the whole thing. WEEP.

Summer - wow, that sounds full on - but rather fun.

Rubes - how is your shoulder today?

Veg - sorry your ma hasn't been more hands on - but must have been lovely to see her nonetheless.

I've got a really annoying dry itchy cough, which just makes me sound like a hypo rather than an ill person. Grrr. Had a lovely day with DD2 as DD1 at nursery. Picked her up at 5 and she was happy as larry. Turned out, though, that she hadn't eaten a thing all day and hadn't had a sleep. Out for the count now. Hurrah!

DD2 had her 16 week jabs, which was screamy! And then saw a doctor because her head is so flat on one side. Poor little bird. She has dropped weight-wise from 50th centile to 25th and so has the circumference of her head. Doctor wasn't too worried about it, but to be on safe side we're having an ultrasound to check on if the plates are forming right. Gosh, these things are sent to worry us, aren't they??!

Kiwi - are you there? Have been thinking about you and worrying about you a bit. Big love.

Right, beer time. Bring. It. On.

Veggiemummy · 12/10/2010 19:26

I was just thinking about Kiwi tonight (because I wore a floral dress not because I'm randomly thinking of you KP), she hasn't been on FB for a bit either.

Just got back from taking everyone to the pirate family restaurant for dinner. DS2 is now old enough that we can safely leave him with his brother in the playroom and just watch them on the monitors. Quite funny DS1 statement, they have a glass lizard cage thing & tonight the lizards started..erm...making babies. It caused much excitement amongst the dinners and drew a crowd around their home, including DH & the DS's. Unfortunately the boy lizard fell off the lady lizard whilst they were 'doing it' on a high log. He fell into a little water bowl thing. DS1 who had heard me say they were making babies said "is that the birthpool?".

JollyBear · 12/10/2010 19:46

Hello everyone,

veggie That is priceless! Grin You'll have to go back in a few months and see if Mrs Lizard uses the water bowl to labour in.

LadyT That ticket post thing really grates me. The last time I bought any concert tickets it was £5 to have them posted or £5 for the pleasure of an email ticket and printing them off yourself, what a joke! I second the idea of smuggling her in. If you have to pay full price anyway you may as well get her a seat, she could have a bird's eye view from her car seat.

summer Wow a 7hr car journey with 2 children, well done on surviving that!

arti You asked ages ago when the sickness stopped last time... a few days after the birth really. It did get less severe but I had to take some medication all the way through.

Calling all wise style gurus! I have a wedding to go to in 3 weeks and I have no idea what to wear. I'm at that big belly rather than nice bump stage, although who knows what I'll be like in 3 weeks! I'm not sure whether to get something maternity or a normal frock that can accomodate my gut. Any ideas are most welcome!

I have my first scan on Thursday. Although my big tummy indicates all is well, it is still nerve racking. 14 weeks is late for a first scan too I think.

sybilfaulty · 12/10/2010 20:02

Hello everyone

Thanks for the good wishes - am feeling much better. Sadly though we seem to be passing it round as I went to pick DD1 up from a play at a friend#s and she vomited all over the hall and the walls (oops) when I arrived! Thank god it was a good friend. Now asleep. Fingers crossed she can go to work tomorrow as otherwise I am buggered.

Am off to make the supper but then will be back for a quick read. Hope the shoulder is bearing up today Rubes. Love to you all.

JamInMyWellies · 12/10/2010 20:24

House of vomit here again Poor old DS1 vommed all over the swimming pool changing rooms, then DS2 peed all over them and proceeded to have the tantrum to end all tantrums meanwhile DS1 was weeping in a corner.

Vodka time me thinks!

Jolly if you can afford an Isobelle Oliver dress their wraps are really good for that annoying inbetweeny stage where you look like you have eaten too many pies. Grin

Kiwi you ok lovey you have been missing a bit?

Veg hurrah for visitors leaving and being able to live a normal non entertaining life.

Lady that is precisely why we chose not to get tixs for ITNG thought it was a fecking rip off. Am sure DD1 will love it though and all the grr at the price will fade away. How are you feeling now? Very Envy at Bicester as you know I love it there.

SUmmer I too am organising a trip to the motherland. Whereabouts did you go? My Grandmother is a bit poorly so we have decide to go en masse when my Dsis is back from San fran at the end of Nov. Somehow my organising nanny type behaviour means it has been left to me to find accommodation. Get this for 7 adults 3 children and a dog, with parking in central Edinburgh! I have done it after mucho googling thank god it was getting a wee bit stressful trying to accomodate everyones demands.

Rubes well done for getting the steriod injection and not fainting. I do think having the DC with you on occasions like that really make you man up. Sorry DD is a bit under the weather.

WG I can recommend a coukle of good nanny agencies in that area if you want. Having done the stateside thing and dealt with immigration stuff. I would say your friend needs to contac an immigration lawyer and a very good family lawyer in US then make sure she has UK one on board too. What a terribly sad situation.

AVO bugger about the house.

Urbane hope the job stress eases.

Right dinner ready back later.

Rubena · 12/10/2010 21:24

Hello, dh didn't get in until 2am last night and then went back at 7am with dd waking at 430am plus he took 2 waste of time work calls (which I could've answered) in between and not back until 8pm tonight! dd unsettled all day and sniffly and stuffed up still Confused that nasal spray does nada.

Shoulder is heavy and achy today but to be expected apparently, and should start feeling much better in the morn

Vaggie that story made my day! Grin I can't wait until ds talks!! his only addition to the vocab is "knife" when he helps unload the dishwasher although it sounds more like nooofe, so he's got about 5 words now Hmm

Lady hope you got some nice things at the Outlets today Grin
I had a look at Iggle Piggle tickets - how annoying. They should really give you a seat for her if you have to pay Angry

Hello Sybs sorry to hear the bug is going around. Was going to ask if you were up for a visit at mine on Thurs if my dd is better, as Spot is coming but I am guessing it's a no go.
Beans are you around on Thurs? Anyone else is welcome too. Lady I'd love to see you too but guessing It'd be too much too soon.

Jolly good luck at the scan, how exciting.

Beans well done on kids in bed and beer!

Summer glad you had a nice time at the wedding and the dress and shoes were successful! I think my ds thinks I'm desperate for kisses and hugs too. I actually pretended to cry today when I was asking for one and he said no, but he just came up for a close look at what I was doing, looked slightly concerned, and then got the baby travel gate and proceeded to try and lock me into our bedroom! Shock

Avo, sorry to hear about all your stresses. Hope it gets sorted v v soon

LadyThompson · 12/10/2010 22:43

Welcome back SL, blimey - that car journey sounds gruelling! You, Beans and Rubes and buoying me up with these tales of sleeping baby girls. DD2, aka Hungry Horace, wakes every two hours, day or night, for grub (lots) and sometimes wants more. She is the direct opposite of her sister, aka Unhungry Boris, at the same age. We are knackered. I am not a person, I am a set of aches, pains and complaints (glands still swollen and now really painful in my neck. Will I EVER feel normal again? Grin) Glad to hear the shoes and dress are still storming it!

Hope your Mum and Stepdad get off ok tomorrow, Veg. Even the smashingest guests get tiring (well, the work of keeping the show on the road, I mean). Your DS1 is funny Grin

Ooh, Beans, sorry about your DD2's head, that must be worrying but I bet it will be ok. So many of them get a bit flat on one side (my DD1's head did for a while). Hope tickly cough goes away. Lots of honey for you!

JB - Isabelle Oliver is a good call. Have a look at their website and then check out Ebay where there are loads of their things going secondhand.

Sybs, there's something in the post to cheer you up Smile

Jam - yes, I did think of you when I was at Bicester and I nearly bought a handbag Grin But restrained myself. I bought a Hilfiger jumper and some Links cufflinks for DP, a jumper from Joseph for me, and silver letter charms for the girls' Christmas stockings from Links. Couldn't see anything else (well, not true: aside from the bags I liked, there were some kitten heels in Jimmy Choo but again couldn't justify).

I also thought of Kiwi today, when I was in Reiss, as I remember her saying she rated their stuff.

Rubes, you should come to Bicester Shopping Village one day. It really is worth a look. It did make me laugh about your DS trying to shut you in the bedroom when you were pretending to cry. I can't do Thursday, love to see you as I would. I am not even certain about the cricket dinner on Friday night, and usually wild horses wouldn't keep me from that. Ooh, your DH is working hard at the moment, poor fellow.

DP is watching that new lesbo drama on BBC3. He has been looking forward to it all week. I would love to know the audience share of men/women watching. It looks a bit crap. They don't even seem like convincing people, let alone convincing lesbians Grin

LadyThompson · 12/10/2010 22:45

When I said 'we are knackered', I actually meant DP too - not the royal we! It read a little strangely and I thought I should clarify Grin

sybilfaulty · 13/10/2010 04:15

Sorry I didn't manage my catch up earlier on. I now have 2 sickies, so just Matthew to go and then I'll have a houseful. The bathrooom light has gone too, which had made the rescue mission more difficult. Now DH on vomit watch as I have to get up for work in less than 2 hrs. Hope you are all asleep with children gently resting as well Smile.

Have radio on to help me sleep and hear that first miner coming to surface. Lovely news for a Weds am.

SummerLightning · 13/10/2010 04:28

Awww sorry sybil. Hope you get a bit of sleep.
Just going to sleep now myself. Dd just slept 7:30 to 4!! Hurrah

spotofcheerfulness · 13/10/2010 09:21

So sorry for all the lurg-filled houses Sad. It's just the worst. Sybs I hope you got some more kip, and you're probably still feeling rotten yourself.

Hooray on the sleeping SL and glad you had a good time in Scotland.

Jolly I went to a 'do' when I was in the same 'looking fat' stage. In fact it's only been in the last few weeks that people have felt confident enough to comment on my bump. I'd go for a wrap dress too, as you don't have to get a pg specific one, just maybe a size bigger than usual and then you can wear it for the first few months weeks after the birth.

LT I am so sorry for your catalogue of aches and pains, you've really been through the mill. I'm glad you felt up to some retail therapy, but it sounds like you need some serious rest too. Any chance of seeing your mum in the near future? and Grin at DP and the unconvincing lesbos. I think he might be more disappointed if they were realistic.

T's nights have gone tits up again, and DP left for Ams at some ungodly hour this morning and not back til Sat so there will be significant amounts of CBeebies watched. (2 hours and counting this morning Blush).

I do have something to look forward to tomorrow though - a visit to chez Rubes. Got your FB message, all sounds fab.

SummerLightning · 13/10/2010 09:30

Jam - Scotland, we went up via Sedgefield which is where my Grandad lives (stay in Travelodge), then to Edinburgh (stayed in West End Travelodge - has parking so worth considering if on a budget, they were very friendly and there is at least at a bar)
Then we stayed with Ade's aunt and uncle in Kinross, which is about 40 mins from Edinburgh, his aunt runs a B&B which as far as I can see may be the best B&B in the world (they are so lovely), so if anyone is heading up there I can recommend!
Then we stayed two days a B&B in Aberlady where the wedding was. This B&B was amazing as well, we had a massive room and there was sort of a lounge underneath so we could stay up after little ones asleep (unlike in travelodge). The owner also offered to babysit! How nice is that?

So DS finally managed to injure DD yesterday. He grabbed her face in his fist and just squeezed. There is a scratch under her eye and she SCREAMED. DH massively shouted at DS (we were both in the room but unfortunately both thought each other had an eye on him). Then later i let him near her again, and I was watching him this time and telling him to be gentle and he put his hand on her chest but then turned it into a viscious pinch before I could stop him. Sigh. I think i am deluding myself when I say he likes her, I think he is putting it on when he is nice and is biding his time for attack. Probably the novelty is wearing off too.

Lady you make me laugh with Hungry Horrace and Unhungry Boris. Grin. I hope DD2 sleeps longer stretches soon.

SummerLightning · 13/10/2010 09:33

OOps I realised I put DH's REAL NAME on here Shock UH-OH (as DS would say)

SummerLightning · 13/10/2010 09:34

x posts with you Spot. Sorry for the shitola nights. I don't know how you do it. No sleep is the worst.
any update on houses?

MomOrMum · 13/10/2010 09:34

Sybs and Jam here's hoping the house of vom passes quickly and that you get some rest.

Rubes Hope your shoulder starts to improve soon! Your DH's schedule sounds gruelling.

Lady Had to laugh about Hungry Horace but uck re: feeding every two hours. But I know the feeling! We had this and it was relentless. Isn't it unbelievable how they are born with such distinct personalities from Day 1?! I've done my time with a feeding frenzy bad sleeper, so please can I order a sleepy one next??

Veg I hope you get to relax a bit and enjoy having your house back to yourselves.

Jolly I second Isabella Oliver. In fact, I have a dress right now that I was about to sell on ebay (bought it from a neighbour who only wore it once to wear to a wedding 2 weeks ago, but it was a bit too big for me so I didn't even wear it). Not sure what size you are, but it is a size 3 (which they say translates to a size 12, but I found it fit quite big). It is like this in blue: www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/uk/100/maternity-dresses/DR084.html. I would be very happy to pop it in the post to you, if you think it might work.

I have been sick as a bloody dog this week. I had a cold and nasty cough last week and felt pretty grim, but thought I was on the mend and hence proceeded to go to Paris, run around all day, go out for dinner at night, then get back on Saturday and go straight out on Saturday night until 2 am. By Sunday, I was in a state and spent the last 3 days entirely in bed sleeping 20/24 hours and barely able to breathe! Oops. Got some antibiotics which seem to be working quickly, so hopefully I really am on the mend. Won't be pushing myself like that again anytime soon, but my sister was here and I really wanted her to have a good time.

SummerLightning · 13/10/2010 09:37

Oh dear, post no 4 from me!!!

The wrap dress I have from Fenn Wright Mason is a really nice shape Jolly and they have the same shape in several patterns so you could try there?? I think you would be able to buy your normal size as they are fairly stretchy (also seeing as you have been ill presumably you haven't got that much bigger apart from in the tummy area - unlike me in my pregnancies!)

syb I read your post last night as mners coming out - i.e. Mumsnetters, I wondered what you were on about! YAWN well it was 4 in the morning.

MomOrMum · 13/10/2010 09:43

Lots of cross-posts....

Spot I'm with you on the bad nights. Terrible one last night. We're definitely getting more bad than good lately. I'm putting it down to the 2 year molars, but have heard these can take months to push through.

Summer Sounds scary having to keep such a close eye on DS! I'll be there soon enough myself. DCs #2 must grow up to be so resilient!

Forgot a funny story about DS from this morning....I was really annoyed with him after such a bad night, and was sulking (me, not him). Had a shower and realised that he was very quiet and out of sight, so jumped out quickly. Found him in his room, the cat lying on the change table, and DS calmly applying Sudocrem all over the cat's fur! I couldn't help laughing at the poor cat's bedraggled face looking mournfully at me, covered in thick, nasty Sudocrem. Why the stupid thing continued to lie there, I'll never know. Grin

Beans33 · 13/10/2010 09:44

Mom - I am afflicted with a horrible cold at the moment, just hope it doesn't turn into anything more. Sure it won't, they rarely do. Poor you, though. Make sure you continue to get more rest.

DD1 is in nursery again today. They are a bit disorganised there - I find myself getting v frustrated - am thinking I'm going to put together a little form for them to fill in each day for her, so I know what she has eaten and when, if she's done a poo and if she has slept at all. They don't seem to have a key worker for her, either, so I never know who to talk to about her at the end of the day. It annoys me. And I couldn't find their menu for the week either. I thought it was fairly normal practice for these things to be written down? To be honest, if it doesn't settle in the next month or so, then I am going to change to a different nursery, I think. Depends on how she settles there really. I guess it's only week 2, but I really don't have a clue who to speak to at the end of the day. Plus the manager, who I really liked, has left without any warning from the nursery. We just got a letter saying she had gone! Hmmm.

Lady - v impressed with your retail therapy - well done you! I still haven't been shopping. Although I have had my hair cut short now. Quite weird not having lots of hair to brush int he mornings. It is short at the back and relatively long at the front - chin length. NOT a pob, I hasten to add - I am far too square and fat to carry one of those off!

Just DD2 and me today - think I might head to bed for an hour at lunchtime as feeling quite crap.

Another 5k run on Saturday for count down to sponsored run is on!!! EEK! I did one on Sunday last week in 38 mins - hoping to get it down to under 35 mins soon. WEEP!

Beans33 · 13/10/2010 09:48

SL - horrid with the baby injuring too - sure it'll get better as he gets more used to her. I know it certainly happened with a friend from NCT. She didn't dare bathe them together til recently! And he has now got the hang of his little sister - 4 months though, I'm afraid! But still, it means light at the end of the tunnel!

Mom - I love that story about the sudocrem - hilarious!!!

MomOrMum · 13/10/2010 10:03

Beans You should be fine if you are able to rest. Mine turned into a chest infection because I was rushing around, but take it easy and hopefully you can kick it!

That does sound a bit odd re: nursery, TBH. I get a form every day that describes all the things you are talking about. I thought it was standard practice to have that kind of paperwork in place? Mine is a childminder, so not really a key worker issue but everyone I know with kids in nursery definitely knows who their child's key worker is. Maybe others will see it differently, but I would be a bit concerned about that level of disorganisation. I'm sure she is absolutely happy and fine there, but from your perspective it's not ideal.
