Cleopatra! Oooh, PD, I quite like that! Grin DP is still tinkering around with the third name though. Names one and two set in stone, ready to set my aunties rolling their eyes...

Yes, roots are done, my hair is cut, blow dried and gleaming, and I am resplendent in new lipstick. Ankles are puffy and vast but let's just draw a veil over the less glamorous elements. I'm a bit nervous. Well, no one LIKES being cut open, do they?! But hugely excited about new doll DD and just hoping she is well..

Kiwi, I am hugely conscious that I am prattling on about my new baby when you have suffered your loss. Do forgive me.

Rubes, yeah - DD is a total attention monkey, I quite agree. And she called me a Naughty Lady today, when she was trying to hit and pinch and kick me as I removed her from the room as DP tried to make a work phone call. He says she has had a couple of meltdowns this afternoon - none of this bodes well for her attitude to The Usurper

Well, this may be my final post in a while (ok, a few hours anyway) so cheerio lovely girls. See you on the other siiiiiiiiiiiiide....xxxxxxxxxxx

Rubena · 28/09/2010 20:05

Oh c'mon Lady, getting cut open is fun! Hmm nah actually it's not is it, but as you know it's not too bad at all, and you will be up and about in no time. I can't wait to meet her! Are you returning to DP's after or off to your Mums or something else?

I'm thinking about putting ds in nursery for a morning or 2 a week. I'm just wondering if it might help him say something a little faster, and if nothing else he would benefit from the interation without me there (unlike a toddler group) I'm sure. I have no idea of cost etc, but I think around £45 - £50 per day was what one was charging when I enquired about a year ago - is that normal? Also how do I know if it's a good one? I'm sure they are full but if nothing else I'll get his name on a list if and when I need it. A break for me a morning or 2 per week might be nice Grin Am I the only one on here that has never put their dc in a nursery at all? Confused
Right, off to cook a very basic dinner....

Lady - yay for the hair, and hope you are enjoying a lovely meal x

SummerLightning · 28/09/2010 20:21

Well my Internet is being flakey so it will have to be quick.
Just wanted to say kiwi was very sorry to hear your news. I hope you are ok and are taking care of yourself.

I also wanted to say lots of luck to ladyt for tomorrow I will also be awaiting the announcement with bated breath!
This is my second attempt at posting this sodding internet grrrr

JollyBear · 28/09/2010 20:40

Hello everyone,

kiwi Hope you are resting up and taking some time out from work. Love to your DH too.

LadyT Oooh not long now! Good luck! Can't wait to hear the news.

Re the food thing. I'd check with the dietitian but it sounds as if giving into her eating demands might not be the best thing if food is a control thing. She'll have to learn at some stage that you can't always get what you want - although it sounds as though that lesson was handed out in MK!

Rubes Re nursery. Get recommendations if you can. You do get a feeling about the place when you go in, so visiting a few is worth a go. DD's fees have just gone up to £58 a day Shock.

NJAN DH certainly does not jump out of bed in the morning. He'd do 8 snoozes if I didn't complain. I hate it when he gets a lift with DD and me as he makes us late!

trace That is a good response from the parenting person. Hope she helps. Is it anything particular that you are finding a struggle with L? Just thought others on here might have ideas that might help, problem shared and all that.

Gracious I'm tired, early night for me. Night all.

JumpJockey · 28/09/2010 21:30

Lady - just to reiterate, lots and lots of luck for tomorrow and can't wait to see the pics of Ethelburga*!

*that is the name you've gone for, isn't it?!

kiwi, keep looking after yourself, sending lots of white light and hugs.

Early night here too, failed to nap while dd did so am cream crackered, will let you know how it goes with doc tomorrow and conclusion re slapped cheek. Baby is hiccuping away happily Grin so am hoping that's a good sign.

traceface · 28/09/2010 21:46

rubs P has been in nursery for almost a year now and it doesn't seem to have turned her into a chatterbox! Her nursery is £35 per day They don't provide meals but they do provide snacks, nappies and wipes Smile
Ooh not long now for LadyT! Grin

traceface · 28/09/2010 21:47

oh and jj thinking of you with your slapped cheek result tomorrow.
Sleep well jolly - hope you have more energy tomorrow Smile

Veggiemummy · 28/09/2010 22:07

Woohoo so excited about the new lady tomorrow, we will know her name this time tomorrow

Veggiemummy · 28/09/2010 22:08

Pubes DS2 isnt in nursery yet.

Veggiemummy · 28/09/2010 22:10

Oo & hoping your result is the right one tomorrow JJ.

zoejeanne · 28/09/2010 22:28

Hello, pleased to see I've arrived just in time to wish LadyT lots of luck and love for tomorrow - I can't wait to hear about the newest little lady in your life.

Hello hello to everyone else. As I've missed all of this thread I will try to catch up, but haven't started yet, sorry.

A couple of questions (hope its not too rude to jump in with stuff I want to know, having read zilch) - what do you pay babysitters? We've got the lovely teenager from across the road booked in for a couple of weeks time and don't know want to offer her. I want to be fair, but not so generous I don't have any drinking money left! And has anyone started using pillows? We've noticed that DD is now sleeping with a teddy tucked under her head, but we don't have a clue if a pillow is a good thing or a bad thing.

Thanks, and love to you all and all the little ones. xxx

Rubena · 28/09/2010 22:45

Vag - hi! Oh yes I guess there's your cute ds2 not in nursery and then there's Ladybaby1 who isn't either and she totally chats! Hmmm oh well I have emailed 3 of the really local ones and I'll see what they say. I'm going to the local toddler group I've just found on Friday and again on Monday so I'll ask some of the mums.

JJ- I hope it's all ok for you. dd2 had hiccups a lot in my tummy too, and she has them really bad now she's out! After almost every feed! She's been sleeping a lot this evening which is a turn around as she's usually really unsettled early evening - could the Imms affect her that quick?

Lady! I can't wait! Hope you've taken your little tablet by now Grin Oh and I hope you're first up quite soon in the morning as I know how you'll be missing a coffee Smile SO not long now!

Rubena · 28/09/2010 22:46

Oh and hello Zoe! DS has had a pillow for AGES now (well he's in a bed) but it's quite flat and he always spins around until we put him straight again and up the right end for the night! Pillow's are fine by now.

Rubena · 28/09/2010 22:48

Trace - Aah the beauty of the cost of living up North.... How are you feeling?

urbanewarrior · 28/09/2010 23:11

Best of luck LadyT. Will be thinking of you tomorrow. V exciting.

No hope of properly catching up, but will be on tomorrow night. Not least to hear about name...

Major work thing went ok. Phew. But have aged about 100 years.

Kiwi am thinking of you too. Do please come and talk to us if it would help - must be hard when not many people know (although I can see that's also easier too).

LadyThompson · 29/09/2010 04:52

Oh lawks, can't sleep. I was like this last night as well. Meal was gorgeous, we were at a place on Park Lane. Such a treat. But a 7 course menu, even a taster menu, was in retrospect a mistake as I now feel v sick and thirsty. And tired.

JJ, I'm beaming lots of white light in an easterly direction for the morning.

Dear Urbane, so glad you are through the other side with your work thing. You work so hard, my lovely!

Rubes, the good nursery near me is £68 per day. However, am hoping the one attached to the pre-school over the road is cheaper as I too would like to send DD there for a morning a week. We'll see. Oh yes, I am just going home to DP's flat with just him to nurse me, DD1 and DD2. I didn't want anyone else. He was good last time. Oh and I know you are fretting about DS and his talking but you clearly aren't alone, he is clearly bright with excellent comprehension skills. It will come - seriously. And then you will have the backchat to put up with, like I do with DD. Who still refuses to learn the word "yes".

Not a clue about babysitting rates, our ZJ. Would love to know myself. Ours does it for the love of it, can you believe! But this worries me, as she knows.

Aaaargh, loads more to say but DP is waking up so had better stop...hope you are all fast asleep.

Avocadoes · 29/09/2010 06:23

Good Luck LadyT! I hope you got back to sleep. I have my money on either of two names. One starts with a P and the other a C. Cant wait to hear if I'm right!

spotofcheerfulness · 29/09/2010 07:45

good luck lady!

Rubes I will reply to your fb message when i've worked out the closest option! oh and plenty of t's friends who do go to nursery don't speak so it's no guarantee!

T slept through til 6.30 this morning!! For the first time in a month Grin. And he only woke because his cot collapsed Shock. Did nothing different, so go figure...

T also had a pillow since he was 1.

spotofcheerfulness · 29/09/2010 07:45

Oh and LadyT I have a niece called Cleo - tis a fab name Grin

EffiePerine · 29/09/2010 08:05

My bets are a C and another O. Hope it's all going well! Anyone know whrn the surgery is planned?

Jj: hope the results come back ok. Sounds like your bean is doing well in there :).

Rubena · 29/09/2010 08:17

Morning - Oh strewth Lady - hope you went back to sleep! Never mind, loads of rest in hospital. Good that you will have just dp at his flat. How nice to recuperate out in the country with no-one around.
Really can't wait to meet her, but I'm guessing I'll have to wait ages.... [impatient]Grin
Effie, I'm sure they'll have Lady up in the morning but she might not know the time until she arrives which should be already! How exciting Grin

Thanks for the reassurance about non-talking. I don't know for sure about nursery, but I'll see what they come back with regarding vacancies and costs etc and let you all know how it compares [clueless]

JJ let us know how it goes today

Spot Shock his cot collapsed???? Not surprised he woke!

Kiwi - hoping you are feeling a bit better?

KiwiPanda · 29/09/2010 08:20

Hello all, am ok, just feeling wiped out and look like a ghost (in pallor rather than that see-through)

Just popped on to send massive good luck/ happy thoughts to LadyT - can't wait to hear the good news!

Veggiemummy · 29/09/2010 08:45

Oh Kiwi, you poor thing. This is terrible but the only up.lifting thought I could manage in an attempt to make you feel better is, at least you could dress to suit your skin tone Hmm

Oh I think I quite like the C name, how did you come to think it was that Spot. She was an amazing women.

Veggiemummy · 29/09/2010 08:55

Babysitter rates in London we paid a lady £8 an hour, plus taxi fare. When we moved to Derby we figured £5/ hour was reasonable as a babysitter was a friends teenage niece. However, her mum refused to let us pay her more than £10 in total, regardless of how long we stayed out. We used to buy her a takeaway & coke let her watch a movie on the paid movie hire Tele thing and drove her home. Here we pay a flat rate of ?20 to our neighbours 16 year old daughter.

Pubes I've told you this before but DS1 was well over 2 before he said more than mummy, daddy & Arsenal, & as you know he's quite a chatterbox eloquent now.

Rubena · 29/09/2010 08:58

Hello Kiwi - glad you are around still Smile

Vagolina, yes I remember now. I do need things drummed into me don't I.
Hmmm Cleopatra - quite interesting.... Can't get Aussie teenage trashy mag out of my head though. But it's the same thing with Freya for me (brand of bread over that way)
