New Fred. Apologies for dullness of title - we need curly for witticisms.

OP posts:

I seem to have hit 3 weeks and gone into horsey overdrive. Was most put out that ma Jennie thought for herself while I wasn't there and then got carried away with the thinking - she seemed to be rather more excited by changing the racehorse's feed than she was about fixing a broken rail and now I have a fat racehorse and a pony with laminitis. Bollocks.

Anyway. DS has been out on his first day's hunting today. Given how much of last night he spent awake I was hoping he might just sleep in the car for a couple of hours today, but no. We drove for a couple of miles down a dirt track, stopped to have a feed, everyone else drove off, and when we went to catch up with them the car battery showed an alarming tendency to a flat battery. So I made sure DD had not switched on all the lights in the back (a favourite trick of hers,) and revved it a bit, and all was well! That would have been great, wouldn't it? Stuck in a forest off the beaten track with a child and a newborn baby and a broken car. I was impressed at myself though for managing to get DD to do a wee in a potty beside the car whilst continuing to BF DS! After the feed DS did sleep, and then I just had DD to entertain.

Tomorrow DS will be spectating at his first hunter trial, and hunting again on Mon and Tue. I will be sleeping in the afternoons Grin.

I am not impressed at DS's BFing technique when he has rumbly guts though. He gnaws at me with his gums. Surely this is wrong? DD never did anything like this. I have bruised nips atm. Anyone else get anything like this?

SilverSky · 03/10/2010 11:10

box I hear ya! Frustrating I agree. So shitland is in the proper shit now. Hopefully you have caught in early stages. I have a day off from nag duties and intend to keep it that way despite my "doubting Thomas" voice telling me to go and check nag is not in wet rug and leave sharer to deal with it whenever she gets there. All prep for when small person arrives.

Thanks to those expressing concern. I am fine and getting my head round things.

V excited for vag. Plz to my baybee being smaller and more sneezeable weight Mr Stork.

HI is doing a roast later! .

Backinthebox · 03/10/2010 12:32

Shitland is feeling better this morning, so caught early - phew! Ma Jennie's mother has reinforced the fence when she came to help her get ready for the hunter trial today. Which we are not going to after all - turns out she is a bit of a fair weather rider and called at 7am to say she didn't want to go in the rain and wind. Pah! Youth of today! The racehorse will have to get used to a bit of competing in the rain. Clucky and I never used to let a bit, or a lot, of rain stop us!

OH was nearly due a smack in the middle of the night. After yet more hours of gumming I handed DS to him and he complained he was a bit tired. A BIT FUCKING TIRED? I haven't had a full night's sleep since June! Oh well....

SilverSky · 03/10/2010 13:43

Ditto here!! Only time we cried off was when an event was cancelled and even then we'd find somewhere else to compete.

Bloody men. Self self self. They have no clue.

CluckyKate · 03/10/2010 15:30

Hooray for Vag - mega-congrats on the new arrival & looking forward to hearing your tale.

Rain, sleet, hail & snow - we've been out in 'em all eh Box. Did Pippa Funnell get to where she is by crying off at the slightest drop of rain???...I think not!!!

Give MrBox a club round the head from me.

Glad the party went well Rots . Little Chick was 2 yesterday so we held a small gathering - was expecting about 15 people (incl. kids) and had about double. Needless to say we ran out of party bags - and that's with the spares that I'd done too. Thank goodness that's over for another year [phew]

SilverSky · 03/10/2010 18:21

SJ at WEG on BBC red button. NOW!

AlpinePony · 03/10/2010 18:28

boxer I hear you - I'm the one living on 4 hrs a night - but he is tired...

The ODE I was at yesterday was low on numbers compared to start card - think the 5am monsoon may have dissuaded some! I rode 4 hours today pub lunch sore arse. Told two girls off for yanking her leadrope... the mothers are probably posting on AIBU right now. Wink

Backinthebox · 03/10/2010 19:09

SJing is being recorded on Sky+ for after kiddywinks are asleep. Fab invention, Sky+!

Cluck now you mention snow, I remember you ARE even more hardcore than me! Who would ever forget the day you had me wimpering to go home from hunting in a snowstorm? And you wouldn't let me, you mean woman! The time we went XC after a downpour and you had a massive glove-rein interface failure was ammusing though. The only pair to come home clear in 3 times the optimum time!

Tonight poor DS is beginning to resemble a baby prune after DD has decided baths with her baby brother are the best thing ever. He is being subjected to way more baths than I suspect is good for a baby!

AlpinePony · 04/10/2010 07:24

Following on from the general "men are bastards" shtick. I've been planning to go out this morning and visit a friend. Just got a phonecall:

"Do you know where A&E is? I've cut my arm and need stitches. Don't worry, I'll find it on my bicycle and I'll walk the dogs - you go out and enjoy yourself." Hmm

Gah.

SilverSky · 04/10/2010 09:01

I have reached the conclusion that HI is very resentful of me being on ML and he is working. A lot. He seems to forget I am growing a baybee and it's hard sodding work.

He expects the house to gleam. However he is a messy git eg coins on the floor etc (his response to that is "I don't care about the coins" but he wouldn't leave £50 notes on the floor!!) and he does not realise that by the time I have tidied I can't be arsed to clean.

He thinks that working FT gives him the god given right to treat me as his personal slave and basically anything that is not his "area" eg lifting / chopping / fixing though he does cook or his work then he thinks he should not be bothered with it and it's for me to sort (eg filing / household admin / laundry / clean house / car upkeep and basically the list goes on and a baby will be added to that list).

At times whole situ gets me down at times and we are both happier when we work as a team and we get so much more done.

Cosmosis · 04/10/2010 09:32

AIBU to be pissed off at SIL, who shrieked "Oh my god TGO are you changing a nappy???" on Saturday like he'd just walked on water?????
Sigh. Even his mum thinks it's amazing that he knows things about his own son. Mind you given that her OH apparently never had a broken nights sleep, I suppose it's not so surprising.

So the shit news chez cos is that my car is totally buggered and we seem to have a leak in our flat roof. So that's financial ruin for us then :(

Also does anyone else's baybee make horrendous choking noises all night as if they're drowning in their own vomit, apparently for the sheer pleasure of keeping both parents awake and terrified??? [yawn]

Cosmosis · 04/10/2010 09:40

Also please to be telling me when my boobs will stop flowing like rivers apart from when actually needed?

AlpinePony · 04/10/2010 12:57

Can't comment on the boobs cossie, but have had gurgling/choking noises when he was drowning in sticky phlegm. Put the head end of his cot up on books and it seems to have been only a phase anyway. Swap beans for car? Confused

silver I came to the conclusion on Friday that I have two children to look after. I understand the coins. :( And, I have just emptied the washing machine and found (yet again) washed sweetie wrappers, because it would fucking kill him to empty his pockets - like you say, I doubt he'd have me wash a 50 would he? Confused Am just back from seeing curly's mate and she too has two children to look after... 'tis a common phenomena I fear. :(

Backinthebox · 04/10/2010 14:06

Cos sometime next year Grin I have very distinct memories of standing in an aeroplane loo spraying into the sink just after I stopped BFing DD, and thinking what a glamourous life I lead! We have an assortment of towels mopping up various damp patches in our bed atm - DD is in her first week without nightime nappies, DS has left vomit and wee in the bed this morning, and did a bucket-of-poo last week in the middle of the night that squidged through his nappy and sleepsuit, and I of course am laying in a puddle of milk at night too. I have no idea if OH has any wet patch problems atm Grin.

MW has been today to weigh DS, and OMG he is well over 11 lbs already!

CUNextTuesday · 04/10/2010 14:10

Boxy ref OH - my guess is no Grin

CUNextTuesday · 04/10/2010 14:14

OMG I've just accidentally switched on the WEG - the British team is made up entirely of gurning trolls with shocking dentistry apart from that bloke who looks like he may be a 'hit with the laydeez' and also that he should have snow on his head. Deary me.

AlpinePony · 04/10/2010 14:41

Ooooh. Shock cunty's going to cause a riot with fighting talk like that!

CUNextTuesday · 04/10/2010 14:48

well I just thought I'd contribute to all the horse blither. You can't argue with the facts though Grin

AlpinePony · 04/10/2010 16:58

I think the dentistry thing is often par for the course with professional riders. Family friend was a jockey and she was in a full set of false gnashers by the time she was 30! I have a crooked broken nose for my efforts. :(

CUNextTuesday · 04/10/2010 17:36

I suppose we all have our war wounds. I played hockey for 23 years and came across numerous false teeth, cheekbone plates, torn ears, etc. I myself have an ankle that will never go back to a normal size owing to a serious ligament injury, and an unstable shoulder from dislocating it and popping it back in myself at least three times.

SilverSky · 04/10/2010 19:19

hossOnPlanks as much as the situ irritates the crap outta me. I feel better knowing I am not alone. He'll have to pull his finger out of his butt when the small person arrives otherwise I can see it snowballing.

tues horsey peeps are generally not known for delicate toothypegs. But wahey the team got gold!!

cos I am not looking forward to the numerous leaking orifices post birthing.

AlpinePony · 04/10/2010 19:52

Odd cunty - the hockey team at uni didn't seem to sport injuries, but were absolutely riddled. Grin As for the horsey boy - he may look like a fey metro - but apparently the laydees to mad for a bit of it. Confused

silver I haven't leaked from anywhere. My body holds on to what it has.

boxer Wrt vaccinations. I've never been vaccinated against TB (moved school during TB year, got put up a year so everyone had already had it, moved back to old school, had missed it) - always figured (in the 80s) that it was pretty much eradicated from UK so didn't worry. Now it seems it's rampant - whaddya reckon? Would I have immunity by now or am I likely to get the lurgy?

organiccarrotcake · 04/10/2010 20:06

I only get Scottish little leaks Blush

Talking of which, AIBU to expect a nappy wrap to be actually waterproof??? I have chucked away most of mine - Motherease and Tots Bots are drizabone even on a 10-hour night nappy but prowraps, bambino mio, precious and bambinx just leak THROUGH the PUL. Angry

AlpinePony · 04/10/2010 20:09

rots I've had absolutely NO problems with the new motherease you sent (both types) even though they're a bit big on him right now. Also, have started using the tumble dryer and the nappies dry SO much fluffier and cuter than just hung out to dry. Appeals to the fluffy bunny in me! Wink I'm v v pleased with the motherease ones!

organiccarrotcake · 05/10/2010 12:20

Yes the ME are fab I think. C has his night nappy from 10ish pm to 9ish am with no probs in a ME. Others are rubbish.

Having to do a bit of tmbling here to :( but it has softened my cottons a bit, but then the water here is so good my stuff doesn't really crisp anyway.

PMSL @ ski having a fluffy side Wink
