New Fred. Apologies for dullness of title - we need curly for witticisms.

ski clearly fair point - but - here's the angle.

Donated milk goes to very prems or very small, sick babies, whose mums can't make enough milk for them. The rate of death amongst this specific group is significantly lower with babies given BM as they are much less likely to suffer from a specific bowel infection which is often fatal.

Now we all know that "BM is best" blah blah, but amongst healthy babies the chances of anything bad happening are really, really miniscule, and the real benefits of BM come from things like giving the baby some allergy protection (which is less relevant if you don't have allergies in the family). So to say that about term babies would be offensive and untrue (assuming access to clean water, blah blah).

However, with the babies I'm talking about, it is what it is - spade a spade - and I wouldn't be doing it if it helped stop them getting eczema. Horrible as eczema is, it's still 1/2 hour of my day every other day and I would rather spend that time doing something else productive.

That's the explanation. However, having said that, I'm not saying I'm right or that you're wrong - I'm just explaining where I come from. It is not on for me to cause distress, irritation or upset to you or others, I never intend to and I wish to avoid doing so.

Any suggestions of a better wording which still puts across that we're not just talking about the "normal" BM benefits? I would really appreciate yours and anyone else's input on this as I'm doing a lot of promotion locally and want to get it right.

:)

Anyways.

Riding sounds like fun Envy. I haven't yet got the small carrot on an hoss - think it's going to have to be the Easter hols as we're planning to be away for the next 1/2 term and for Christmas. I'll wait until Spring. Sadly me mam's poniez are not suitable for horseback riding. And certainly not for kiddies. She has two - the compo one who is "not for beginners". I'm not sure I'd ride her. I'm not sure she's even backed to be honest. The other is a Welsh Cob youngster (I think he's 5 now) and he's backed but nothing more, and he's trained to the carriage but is too young to do much more than local training drives.

Right, got Great Aunt and Uncle arriving any minute to get the keys to the church so Uncle can practise t'organ (he's a church organist, played at our wedding, my parents', my christening, etc). Then we need to put up a marquee in a gale force wind. Hmm

SilverSky · 24/09/2010 16:19

HI has been on my case already and it's only day one of ML "so what have you been doing today?" which really means "hope you haven't been doing bugger all today?". So when he got home and he saw how tired I was from everything I have done (no chores tho) he was cool about it. Good job really or it would be WW9.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 24/09/2010 17:26

silver Go easy on yourself - farrier is actually hard work for a heavily pregnant differ. It always involves standing, being alert, making small chat and being nice. :(

rots I will think about it - there must be some way to word it to make it sound less confrontational. You know, like donating your old specs so that people can see - but it's not the be all and end all if you don't. Btw, received the new wraps today! Grin They are GORGEOUS and so soft compared to the Bambinex but sooooooo big for little Bear's wee bum. Grin

organiccarrotcake · 24/09/2010 17:56

Thanks ski. I was NOT intending to be confrontational Blush Sad

LOL @ specs.

silvia I had 10 hours from the beginning of ML til waters broke Shock so enjoy!! Could be anytime!!

I must admit YOB is good about sleep. Overall he gets more than me but this am for instance he settled him for ages after I ensured he wasn't hungry so I could sleep [love-in emot].

Interesting day. My great aunt and uncle are here - he will play the organ tomorrow. We sat in sitting room and Comma needed feeding si I did, carefully, and for the first time felt a bit awkward! Went to pub and he needed again. Uncle was in loo so I said to my aunt that I would be as discreet as poss but she just said not to worry and we talked about how hard it was for her as she couldn't BF hers in public back then (50 yrs ago).

Still wasn't sure how uncle felt about it but later at mum's I said clearly that I was going into the conservatory to feed him so that uncomfortable (if they were) elderly relies could stay away but my lovely uncle just waited until he was latched (so covered) and came in and chatted to me :)

Was really appreciative that not only was he comfortable about it but he showed me he was by being firstly courteous about waiting until he was feeding nicely then coming in to talk to me.

Very fond of them :)

SkiHorseWonAWean · 24/09/2010 20:21

SkiHorseWonAWean · 25/09/2010 09:06

Any gossip from the fanny/cossie meet? Will there be FESH twinz?

Have the PESHes and their lovely offspring have anything nice planned for the weekend aside rots?

I'm going to buy Bear some Miffy clothes (because he can't argue back) and I'm torn between getting professional photos done and buying a new camera. Decisions decisions!

OP posts:
SilverSky · 25/09/2010 09:38

I want to scream and it's very petty but I still want to scream. When I tell someone something regarding the care of my horse I expect that if they have text me back it means they have read and understood it and will follow what has been said. The incident is very very very minor but I can't help but feel minor things can snowball into bigger things esp if that someone doesn't see it as a big deal to them when it is to me. . Will be addressing the issue later today. S'pose it can go one of two ways I s'pose!!

FannyPriceless · 25/09/2010 09:41

Yes the cosmic forces had a field day when the BESH babies met! Artie and Clyde exchanged conspirational glances as their mummies wittered away, ignoring their attempts to get a sensible latch on in a public place.Wink

I can report that Artie is a bundle of gorgeousness, so soft and sweet!Smile cos looks a total natural. Was lovely time.

Am currently eating croissants in bed while cuddling Clyde and watching Bonnie play fall down on the pillows.Grin

rollerbaby · 25/09/2010 11:05

ski get some professional photos done IMO. You can buy a camera any old time, but you can't turn back to clock to make Bear little again and get some gorgeous snaps. That's what I'd like to do personally. Anyway surely photos probably half price of a good camera?

SkiHorseWonAWean · 25/09/2010 11:24

silver Deep breaths and realise that there's only one person who will do things the "right way". We're going to have a horrible month at the stables coming up - numero uno control freak is having a boob reduction and so will be completely unable to do anything... :( She asked me yesterday if I'd ride her horse when she's laid up - poisoned chalice methinks. :( You'll be back on your feet in no time and doing things the "right way". There's only one other person I'd trust with my nag and that's my mum - fat lot of good that does me!

fanny So glad you had a good time yesterday with the lovely cossie - and I knew she'd take to it like a duck to water.

The lovely Laurielou just got a DIGITAL BFP! ShockGrin

honey Will take your advice, studio is in same building as Miffy shop. Grin

Where the fucking fuckety fuck is VAG, I'm not keeping this champagne on ice indefinitely. 'Tis Saturday and because the FESHes will most likely be sofa-bound for saturday night we need to get virtually merry.

OP posts:
SkiHorseWonAWean · 25/09/2010 15:30

Well the photographer was not in the shop he was supposed to be in... so I ended up buying a new camera (needed anyway). I am also now the proud owner of a flatscreen tv - the last person in the western world to own one. Wink Now he can watch crappy sports and I will be in the bedroom with my tv and PROPER DVD player watching box-sets.

He was so excited to unpack his tv I said "this is the happiest I've ever seen you". Without thinking, he replied "you weren't there the day he was born"! Hmm wtf? Grin Idiot.

Backinthebox · 25/09/2010 21:11

Ski - you really can't beat a good length of black fabric to make you piccies special! Looking at the pics I took, btw, yes DS does look just like OH. Poor boy. OH IS very proud. Now we just need to make sure DS grows up with my immune system and hair coverage, and it'll all be fine.

Rots get thy child out on a pony asap! You will set him up for life - just think of the girls to boys ratio! He'll thank you for it later. Grin

Anyway - my news. OH has not blinked at my request for a sensible 'mummy horse.' The racehorse is going to be fabulous fun and a great competition horse, but hardly a sensible mount for leading DD about from. Especially given that her Shitland is, well, a Shitland. And what's the point in selling a fabulous but unsuitable horse if I just end up with another unsuitable horse? This way I get to have an unsuitable horse AND a suitable one. So OH is relieved of the 'fuckwit of the week' award for deciding to go to band practice last night before DD was safely in bed. Meaning I had to put DS down for long enough to get exhausted DD in and out of the bath and into bed. She had a nuclear meltdown in the process because she wanted Daddy to 'do her.' (If she ever puts it like that in public, we will be arrested, but that's just how she describes who is putting her to bed.) Back in our bedroom, DS is testing out the volume he can attain to let the world know he has been PUT DOWN BY HIS MOTHER!

Anyway, must dash. I am one big mobile boob at the moment. With big bruised nipples. Who'd have thought a newborn could suck so hard? I swear I spend more time feeding him than not.

FannyPriceless · 25/09/2010 21:55

box I have so far only managed bath/bed time alone in the house with both kids ONCE. Bonnie is also rather attached to MrP 'doing' her. Just cos I don't can't play requests on the guitar while she's having her bath.

Squee over sensible hoss purchase!Grin My friend in same situation has just bought a coloured cob. She can't really believe it herself. (Is yet to sell 4 year old 17 hh full ID though.Hmm)

Did you see photos of Bonnie riding? We've been offered this pony.Smile

Backinthebox · 25/09/2010 22:02

Bonnie looks very cute on pony. It DOES have a lot of white on it, and I am trying to avoid white atm, but tis so small you could dunk it in the kitchen sink?

I can see your friend's problem. 17hh IDs are lovely, and very hard to part with!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 26/09/2010 07:07

boxer You are at least in the wonderful position of not being able to upset the neighbours with the noise! Wink lol @ "do my daddy, do me"! I too hope that Bear gets his mums hair - nay, any hair would do! Mine isn't great - but at least I don't have male pattern baldness.

I rather agree with boxy fanny - the pony is gorgeous but it'll only be that colour 4 months a year. Grin Mind you, if you don't mind - Bonnie and the pony won't mind either!

Is anyone losing any hair post-partum? I thought there was a lot on my t-shirt the other day - but maybe it was just one day, one t-shirt type thing. [hopeful]

Asshat has gone to work and I am left with the new TV. I don't like fangled stuff. Where is the ON button? It has no buttons - it's all flat and shiny & shit. The remote does nothing. He showed me which button to press yesterday and it's not doing anything. Confused :(

OP posts:
Backinthebox · 26/09/2010 10:59

Ski on our fancy new TV you have to hold the 'on' button down till the TV comes on - which is not straight away but a few seconds later. Don't know why.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 26/09/2010 11:49

He's home now, the ON button is on the side. I ran my fingers along the top and the bottom, but not the sides. Fucking stupid piece of machinery. Blush

Have just applied for a job in Vienna - does anyone know anything about the place bar dancing Bears (Hotel New Hampshire), coffee houses and lyrics? Wink

OP posts:
Backinthebox · 26/09/2010 12:37

Quite expensive, but very fabulous! Excellent Christmas market, very genteel for coffee in the summer. Lovely place.

CluckyKate · 26/09/2010 13:09

....and fabulous Lipizzana horses of course. Also tres close to the mountains & the wonderful Austrian apres-ski.

FannyPriceless · 26/09/2010 13:34

The Spanish Riding School is smaller than you imagine. There are no showers at the airport. No, not one single shower anywhere, madam.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 26/09/2010 13:37

Am not intending to live at airport! Wink That's what I thought - horses & skiing.

OP posts:
SilverSky · 26/09/2010 17:26

Have always wanted to go to Vienna!

Hoss ishoo's sorted. For now.... Another livery told me about a couple of faux paux's and when I broached the subject, sharer said "I'd never do that!" Bit of a fib as livery wouldn't lie, has no reason too. So watch this space.

Backinthebox · 26/09/2010 21:18

Interestingly (or not) - 11 years working in airports and I have never once felt the need to shower in one. I wouldn't know if an airport was lacking in that facility or not. Maybe it's cos I is scuzzy. Grin

OH bought me tickets to see the Spanish Riding School doing one of their rare displays at home a couple of years ago. It was fab. The director of the School took part, and even OH said he could see a master at work there.

And Clucky is correct - I believe the best ski hols in Europe are to be had in Austria. What's not to like?

Silver maybe you want to swap your horsey lady for mine. I had to have words this evening when I discovered she had swapped the racehorse's feed without consulting me. Apparently she is worried he will lose condition if he is not fed more, and is worried he will go wappy if he IS fed more, so she decided to change his feed. I had a very polite discussion with her about the fact that I bought in the feed and would like to at least be involved in a conversation about what to feed my horse, especially since I reckon she is now feeding him duplicated rubbish. Also he had his teeth and back done this week and they were found to be in an appalling state - it's going to be difficult to tell now if any improvement in condition is down to teeth, back or feed. She looked suitably sheepish about the whole thing when I raised it with her.

Clucky and I have been to soft play today - how's little Chick? Little Box is knackered - should sleep well tonight! Things I have learned - 17 days after surgery to patch your nether regions back together is probably not long enough to recover before hurling yourself down slides with 2 and 3 year olds!
