Hello ladies, hope no one minds me taking the liberty of creating a new thread and approves of the name choice. We've been moving a bit slower than antenatal so though we'd most certainly have some year-olds by the time we finished this one!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ursigurke · 29/09/2010 10:05

scarlotti, how is your hand?
Pavlov, and how is your nose?
I hope you two will soon be fully recovered.

DWB, did you already take a test? I'm sure that will relax you. Your might just have your symptoms because you are waiting desperately for your period. I had this a couple of years ago. I knew I couldn't be pregnant but my dentist had asked me if I was and then I had pregnancy symptoms until I had my period Hmm

skorpion, I'm with you on the party thing. I heard once you should always invite as many guests as the child is old. I don't think that many guests will actually be fun for a 1 year old.
tbh, we might actually end up with several small parties. One on her actual birthday with those from antenatal class I'm still in contact, and one with my "real" friends (from language class a few years ago) a couple of days later as one of them is only available on mondays. Two of them have no children (yet) and Paula just loves them. I guess because they can give her their full attention. So somehow this will be her real party. And if I invited all of them at the same time it would be just too many people and babies for our flat. It wouldn't be a relaxed afternoon.
And I suppose my IL want to have an official celebration as well when they visit just 10 days before.

strange-ways-of-moving, Paula sometimes crawls with one leg on her knees and the other one extended. And she adores pushing her little basket through the flat. She does that on her knees. That looks really funny

scarlotti · 29/09/2010 21:39

Hi all

Pav glad to hear your op went well and you're on the mend. Great that Roo now likes the bath again!

Longwayaway Shock at your class teacher, how rude!!

Ninja lol at your mil and the poshness ... we went to a naming ceremony on Sunday and we dressed up. Have been to 3 for this family now and we treat them all as christenings. This one was beautifully done, they hired a marquee in the garden and had it dressed like a Moroccan tent! It was gorgeous Grin Poignant too as Pippa (baby no.3) had been born in the house where we were.

hobnob hope you're coping ok, your mornings sound as hectic as mine!! Ioan isn't making any moves towards standing either and I think he too is too heavy for his legs. If you hold him upright he bends his knees!! He's very happy bum shuffling around so I think there will be no crawling here either, he can get quite a speed going now!

skorpion we'll just do a family party here too. There are only 3 days between Ds2 and DS1 (well and the 4 years obviously!) so there will be many joint parties to come in time. I think you can get away with a small celebration until their 3rd birthday, but they do tend to cotton on to parties by then and want one!

DWB you poor thing, what did the test say? The uncertainty must be driving you mad!

Fruit sorry to hear you've had a stressful time, but great news your Dad got the all clear. Great news for your DH too, redundancy pay and a new job is great Grin Glad your DS1 is loving school, DS1 here is too and he looks so grown up. He comes home with his sounds for the week and you can so tell he's been tought them as he repeats things verbatim! Whenever I pick him up he moans that he wants to stay at school!!

SirB am tempted to knit a boob!! How are you feeling? Shout if you need a hand with anything.

ursi your parties idea sounds great, will be lovely for you too.

Thanks for all the hand wishes, stiches came out on Monday and it's healing really well. Just a bit weak now in the wrist, and my other wrist is sore from over compensating, but it's the last stretch now. Have had my referral through for sterilisation so have to go to the consultation for that in a few weeks. Have the odd doubt about it but I think that's just because it's come through. I don't want any more dc's so it is for the best .. I think!!
DH has now found a flat and it's available on Nov 3rd so we're on the home straight now. I can't wait to get some space, and also a night's uninterrupted sleep!! I'm not sure what will happen in the long run but we need the time apart now. He's doing my head in with certain things (no help when I was incapacitated, choosing to go to a pub quiz tonight rather than go to DD's parents' evening Hmm) so time apart to chill is needed.

I have my fundraising pub quiz and raffle tomorrow night! Am excited and a bit nervous but really hoping it goes well.

Another cute baby here too, lots of lovely babbling and screeches of laughter at his siblings. It's a great age and I'm enjoying every minute ... even the ones from 4:15 am Confused

longwayaway · 30/09/2010 04:10

Ninja I'm sure your MIL is annoying but I had to laugh at your rant :) We didn't have a christening but I'd still like to have some kind of ceremony... family's pretty spread out though so no chance of all the grandparents being there, which ruins it a bit for me.

SirBoob Hope the boob feels better now :(

ursi is Paula putting things in the basket, or is it just the basket? Very cute!

Which reminds me - are any of your LOs becoming more attached to particular things? There's a stuffed otter that M loves, and when I ask her where it is she crawls to it!

scarlotti I'd be Angry at DH if he did that - it's called parents' evening, not mums' evening!

M's first birthday will be on Thanksgiving this year, so we'll have the usual big feast with my parents, and maybe she'll get birthday pumpkin pie? I'd like to have a separate party tho, with friends. More fun for us that way :o

JuicyLips · 30/09/2010 12:37

Hi all,

Scarlotti and Pav Glad to hear you are both recovering ok. Sirboob hope you are ok as well and that Bryn hasn't taken any more chunks out of you.

Scarlotti its a shame that your Dh wasnt more supportive for you, I would have expected help if I had gone through what you have.

On the topic of parties, at the moment parties for the dc will only consist of family coming round, with me having food laid out and cake. but ds is going to be five on his next bday so think he will want a proper party with lots of his new school friends so am already anxious about that!

One good thing has happened today. its only taken them 10 months 2 weeks 1 day, multiple phone calls, several answer-phone messages and a letter but finally added Annabelle to the Child Tax Credits. They are back dating the pay further than I thought they would so they have given us a fair chunk, which is good as we seem to be struggling a fair bit money wise at the moment.

DontWorryBaby · 30/09/2010 17:59

Just tested, as it's my hen night on Saturday so would obviously have to abstain from alcohol if my symptoms were correct... Very faint but it's positive! Can I swear??

FUCK!!!

Delighted... But my goodness, our timing could've been better!

JuicyLips · 30/09/2010 18:40

congratulations DWB!!

MsInterpret · 30/09/2010 18:49
Shock

ARGH!!!!

DWB are you sure?!

Congratulations! Amazing news!

How ARE you going to avoid letting the cat out of the bag on your hen do?!

Congratulations again! I think I am more shocked than you!

OP posts:
weston · 30/09/2010 19:01

OMG was wondering when our first new baby would appear, congratulations!! If its faint then its true!! Smile

DontWorryBaby · 30/09/2010 19:07

I'm sure it's a faint positive! Just the normal clearblue so I'll do another in the morning but need a digital to tell me rough dates. Thinking I'm 6 weeks tho if I had two negatives on 12th & 15th ish September. But they were the very cheap "Reveal" tests. If that was a period on 13th aug that puts me around six weeks ish I think. How quickly can I get a scan at the docs?

My bridesmaid is 8 weeks pregnant and she is now desperate to know how many weeks I am.

No idea how I can avoid telling people. Two weeks tomorrow is the wedding so I can't really use the antibiotics excuse on both dates!

DontWorryBaby · 30/09/2010 19:11

Actually, counting back from 20th may, that would be 7 weeks tomorrow.

So ladies, what do I do about work?? Remember the questions my prospective new boss asked at my interview? Do I take the 9 month contract and tell him after a month or two? Supposed to start around 25th oct.

DontWorryBaby · 30/09/2010 19:14

PS Do I need to join another forum now? Sad

Fruitpastels · 30/09/2010 20:08

Wow!!! Congrats DWB!! So pleased for you Smile I think the news is going to make a few of us broody! Please don't go away and join another thread! Not sure about the work thing. Hopefully someone will be along shortly that can help you on that. You can get a dating scan rather early on.

ursigurke · 30/09/2010 20:53

DWB, congratulations! I'm really happy for you :) (and a bit jealous). You can well join another forum but you are not allowed to leave you for "them"!
Can't really answer your other questions but I hope you will soon come to a decison re your new job.
Oh and about staying sober, I'd use the "antibiotics" for the hen do and at the wedding, you can just keep your glass half full or swap it with your husband and no one will notice. I didn't drink too much at mine as I was actually too busy talking to people and constantly forgot my glass somewhere.
Oh, I'm so excited, please keep us updated!

PavlovtheCat · 30/09/2010 21:37

DWB Shock Grin YEY!!!! congratulations! how fantastic! you must be jumping over the moon! As others have said, a faint positive is a positive however faint! work - i really do not know what the best thing would be to do...have a chat with your future dh about it? regarding your wedding and alcohol - as ursi said, no-one will notice if you drink or not. I did not drink that much at my wedding same as ursi, as partly I was too excited, partly there was lots going on and I wanted to keep on top of what was happening and when (speeches and whatnot), partly tiredness and not wanting to make a fool of myself getting drunk to quickly and also not wanting to pass out, then wake with a horrid hangover, so many reasons! If you have a full glass of bubbly and walk about with it in your hand, no-one will know by the end of the evening that it is the same glass! (they will all be too drunk themselves!) and if anyone comments on how slow you are drinking, tell them you are waiting to eat/pacing yourself/its your 3rd already.

I am just so pleased for you! and you cannot leave us.

JuicyLips · 30/09/2010 21:46

I didnt drink anything at mine. Was too busy having fun!

DontWorryBaby · 30/09/2010 21:46

I certainly won't leave, just might not be the most active member of the new forum as this one will obviously be my priority!!

Thanks for all the good wishes. Hopefully OH will be home soon with a digital test and I'll have a better idea of where we are!

JuicyLips · 30/09/2010 21:51

Either that or have lemonade and say its vodka and lemonade, just make sure no-one takes your drink by mistake! Grin

DontWorryBaby · 30/09/2010 22:08

It's a faulty test!! The egg timer on screen worked for a while then the screen went blank. Guess I'll have to wait til tomorrow to find out how many weeks we are. Boo!

Ninjacat · 30/09/2010 22:32

Grin DWB
My friend who had her baby the same day as Alfie has just told me she is 6wks pg. I'm soooo jealous!!! (would be awful timing for us as I'd be due at our wedding but still)

longwayaway · 30/09/2010 23:28

YAYYYYYY DWB hehehehehe Grin

DontWorryBaby · 01/10/2010 07:14

Another positive this morning and a sudden onset of NAUSEA!! It's psychological isn't it? Must tell myself I'm not pregnant and will not feel sick.

BeckyBendyLegs · 01/10/2010 08:05

Wow first baby DWB that's great news :) Yeah!!!

On the parties subject - we've always done a family thing for first birthday parties here. But DS3's birthday is two days before DS1's so it will be a busy week. I've told DS1 though that he can take two friends to the cinema and pizza hut instead of a party this year. He's very happy with that idea.

DontWorryBaby · 01/10/2010 08:34

Thanks BBL. Now you can understand why your fb profile pic is making me feel sick!!

PavlovtheCat · 01/10/2010 09:39

birthdays - we are thinking about maybe booking a nice pub/restuarant with a child friendly play area to celebrate Reuben's birthday, a lunch time thing. Lots of our friends have little children, and it would be a good way for everyone to get to eat out, will mean no mess and not much preparing! we will do balloons and banners and all sorts for DS and also (mostly) for DD to get involved, and will have a cake etc still.

BeckyBendyLegs · 01/10/2010 10:10

DWB ha ha ha!!! I will change it later today :) It makes me feel queasy and I'm not pregnant!
