Hello ladies, hope no one minds me taking the liberty of creating a new thread and approves of the name choice. We've been moving a bit slower than antenatal so though we'd most certainly have some year-olds by the time we finished this one!

scarlotti, I've tried to give her an early lunch but it was impossible. She was just too tired, I had to switch off the gas and put her into the cot. But that's ok as I give her her midmorning snack (usually a fruit and bread and butter) rather late these days so she is not hungry. Idealy I would like her do go a bit longer in the morning so I can actually give her lunch before the nap but I do wonder why. Just because most children do and I thought that's what they are "supposed" to do? It doesn't really matter if she naps before or after lunch.
Today she was in a terrible mood in the afternoon, again really sensitive to little things. I wonder if it's just the different routine or if she is teething. The gums seem to be a lot bumpier, there might be a couple of teeth coming through very soon.
I guess, I'll see it on the bite marks which she leaves everywhere on my body Hmm

WhyAyeButterPie · 24/09/2010 21:15

Hi all :)

Emmeline is a little terror! Grin

No teeth, crawling like mad and messing with everything. She is getting her own opinions and likes to hold her food aloft, as if in victory :)

Marianne, however, does not approve of Emmeline being able to get to her toys. I am having to defend poor little Emmeline quite a lot these days, but she doesn't seem to be affected- she definitely doesn't learn anyway :)

PavlovtheCat · 24/09/2010 22:49

OMG lemontop !!! that has gone sooooo quickly! ONE YEAR OLD! Happy Birthday Isaac! And a great celebration to you as the one who gave birth to him. One year ago on thursday YOU worked bloody hard !

butterpie DD is not always pleased when bear cub plays with her toys, or rather, suddenly she decides she wants to play with them after all. Or, if he is playing with his toys, she suddenly wants to 'show' him how to do it, then takes over, and often wonders off, leaving this little upset baby!

scarlotti · 25/09/2010 09:06

Ha ha, another older dc here that suddenly wants to play with whatever Ioan has picked up! Normally he takes it off him and makes him cry Sad but he's very quick to find something else interesting.
On the plus side though DS1 is very caring towards his brother. Today when Ioan fell backwards and bumped his head, DS1 rushed to pick him up and comfort him, ahh!

Ursi I just wondered if the lunch would help her sleep longer that was all. Snack has the same effect though I'm sure!

helips · 26/09/2010 14:12

Hi all!

Lemontop Happy birthday to Isaac. I can't believe our little ones are approaching 1 years old! I have already bought Millie's birthday presents, a ladybird wheelybug and an ELC walker/activity thingy! (they have ELC in Singapore!) What is everyone planning on doing for their little ones birthdays?

Pav good luck tomorrow with your nose op, hope you are not too sore.

Scarlotti hows the hand doing?

Ds doesn't like Millie playing with his toys either and snatches them off her. However he is more than happy to play with her toys and says, I'm sharing mummy!

Dh has gone to watch the Singapore Grand Prix with one of his friends who is visiting. I'm not really into F1 but must say it all looks quite exciting! Oh well, early night for me and I'm sure I'll hear all about it in the morning!

tigger32 · 26/09/2010 18:43

Hi all,

My computer has crashed so I'm just popping in to say hi from my mum's.

lemontop Huge Happy 1st Birthday to Isaac! Smile

Hope everyone is ok, I'm praying our computer will be fixed this week. (awaiting a part from Germany!)

SirBoobAlot · 26/09/2010 22:51

Lemontop happy birthday to Isaac - where on earth has the time gone?! I hope you all had a wonderful day.

Pav thinking of you for tomorrow. x

Helips yey for ELC! I'm really not sure what we're going to do about birthday. Not much, I imagine, to be perfectly honest.

Talking of toys - my brother left his XBox control and MP3 player at Bryn level the other day. He did accept responsibility as he shouldn't have left them there, but it was very funny watching Bryn dash around in his walker, screeching and waving / chewing them Grin

He said his first word on Friday - Mum Grin He is now walking around saying it all the time, but it hasn't got old yet Wink

Ninjacat · 27/09/2010 12:21

Happy Birthday Isaac Grin

PavlovtheCat · 27/09/2010 22:23

all done! waited ALL day! but then, in the anaesthetic room, they were all talking to me when getting everyhing prepared talking about kids and stuff and then I closed my eyes, opened then and went 'oh sorry, i almost went to sleep already!' and they said 'you did go to sleep, it was successful' Grin Shock. I feel ok, fine in fact, apart from swollen bleeding nose! but from the GA feel ok. In fact, not that tired, don't really want to go to bed which dh is a bit annoyed about as he wants to go to bed! he ran me a bath when i came in but i didn't want it straight away and he told me to 'hurry up' so he can go to bed!

DH brought Roo in to see me while I waited, so i could feed him before going down, and he was soooo cute, with his little toy freelander car (just like ours!) crawling around the floor pushing it, up chair legs, across tables, he did superman impressions to get moving faster, making fab noises, everyone fell in love with him Grin. He has been good for DH, settled nicely with only a little grimbling and DD went to sleep as good as gold, a close friend came to get me so DH could avoid going to the hospital look after the children. Should be able to breastfeed now if I want, but DH is giving him a bottle so i can mn rest.

DontWorryBaby · 27/09/2010 22:30

Pav Pleased to hear you're feeling ok. Now no more accidents, ok??

PavlovtheCat · 27/09/2010 22:38

DWB i am done with accidents for a little while yes! Grin

DontWorryBaby · 27/09/2010 22:45

Good good! Is Reuben ok with the bath now?

msyikes · 27/09/2010 22:46

Phew Pav
what a day!

I miss little H so much, I barely see her now for four days of the week. Have her nursery pix up by my desk and fortunately she looks happy and excited in all of them.

When I get home she claps!!!! Then sticks her fingers up my nose when I go to kiss her.

PavlovtheCat · 27/09/2010 22:52

Roo is fine with the bath now, we did it gradually, we ran a bath and put DD in it, with DH, and then took Roo in to the bathroom, let him splash the bath with his hands while they were in it, he wanted to get in then! so i got him undressed and he was apprehensive, but not screaming, so i let him dangle his feet over the bath and then he wanted to get in properly, he was clingy with DH and looked at me a bit panicky but settled after DH and DD were laughing and gently splashing. Then DH and I swapped and he was fine by then. Has been fine since but have to take it slow or else he gets a bit freaked, think he just needed to know there were not big bangs or swearing and stuff!

DontWorryBaby · 27/09/2010 22:58

Poor wee guy. Good big sis helping him over fear!

PavlovtheCat · 27/09/2010 22:59

msyikes i miss roo too, and he gets very excited when he sees me, also like jabbing fingers into noses! He gets upset if I spend longer at work (seems to happen a lot) and won't settle for DH after 2pm, but today he was good as gold. I also miss DD a lot now she is at school and I am at work in the morning, i rush off first thing, although still make sure i do her hair first, and she is very tired in the evenings, so by the time we have done food, ready for bed, its then time for bed and meltdown often occurs! i have been spoilt when on ML and she was around much more.

PavlovtheCat · 27/09/2010 23:01

DWB she is the best big sis, and the best daughter. She is so empathic, just makes me well up when I think of how compassionate she is, despite being a manic little thing, she has time to be kind and thoughtful and for the most part does not like DS to be upset.

hobnob57 · 27/09/2010 23:27

Hi all, I must pop in more often but time just runs away these days. Just finished a marking marathon. It's so hard to fit it all in when I only get to start my 'homework' at 9pm!

Pav, sorry to hear you've been having such a rough time. I hope that things heal quickly.

I have been scanning the thread but so sorry don't have time to mention everyone. I've got to be up in 5 hours or so! DH is away this week so I have the challenge of getting all 3 of us up, de-nappied, dressed, fed and presentable for 7:30 by myself. Dreading it.

I so love this age. Isla is happy, cheeky, into everything (particularly if it has maximum germs/electric current/chokability factor/finger-severing potential), responsive and dying to communicate and happy to amuse herself. Not so dying to stand up at all, but can commando crawl at speed. She's so solid that I think it'll be a while before her legs will support her. She's just not remotely interested in standing. I thought she might be fully mobile ahead of her sister (who was crawling at 10 months, pulling up at 12 and walking at 18) since she started crawling at 7/8 months, but I'm not so sure now. Her chat is so endearing. The 'ta's which are just a game at snatching things off you and mamas, dadas, numnums are lovely. Our car has a fault with the seatbelt bleeper, so it goes off far too often. She's even started mimicking it!

One of my closest friends was in labour this weekend and had a baby boy. NOW I understand why people were so dying to hear the news asap and seemed unwilling to wait until we'd gathered breath. I didn't get it with us, or other friends but when it's a good mate and you want to be sure there is a good outcome somehow it's different.

So odd to think that a whole year has gone by since Isaac's arrival. I remember feeling so shocked, followed by a slumpy kind of feeling that I had much longer to wait than my due date. And I was right!

Off to bed.

longwayaway · 28/09/2010 04:59

hello :) been reading but not had time to write.

Happy Birthday Isaac!

Unbelievable that we are reaching the first birthdays. I never imagined I'd still be unemployed right now. It makes me feel anxious on some days and really lucky on others.

Pav sorry to hear about the horrible accident but glad you are recovering OK and that the LOs were spared.

scarlotti Hope your hand is recovering. Sorry to hear that your DH has not found a flat yet. I'm also curious to hear how long people are planning to BF. I thought 1 year sounded about right, but planned all along to see how it goes. Lately I've found my supply seems to be dropping off, as I supplement the bfing with more solids. I'm OK with that, tend to feel better for DD to be more independent from me. She wants to nurse at much as ever, though, so it puts me in a bit of a bind...

hobnob I agree, this is a very fun age! She entertains herself really well, although I still have to keep a close eye on her... likes to pick things off the floor and try to eat them. I am hoovering and sweeping constantly!

ursi groan, the teeth! Still only two here but it feels like a mouthful. I don't know how I'll bear it when she gets top razors teeth to go with her bottom set. My sympathies!

helips sounds like you're having a great time in Singapore. Are you still feeling some culture shock or is it all just one big adventure?

SirBoob hearing them say "mum" never gets old Grin

Oh, if you'll permit me a rant - I went with a mum friend to her postnatal "yoga" class last week... it was comically dreadful. The teacher was relentlessly tactless. Early on she said "Oh, if you had a c-section - but I don't think any of you had c-sections..." (I did.) then later she wanted to check me for diastis recti- whatever - and added "Oh but you wouldn't have it if you had a c-section, unless you labored beforehand?" (I did.) And THEN she asked if I was more than 12 weeks beyond the birth (M was the oldest baby of the bunch that day, clearly I'm well past the 12 week mark), because "there are exercises you can do early on but once you get past 12 weeks..." So, to recap: I failed by having a cesarean, I failed to avoid laboring before my emergency cesarean, then I failed to do abdominal exercises in the 12 weeks post-partum, when I was specifically forbidden from doing anything that would strain my abdomen (see: cesarean section), so now I am stuck with my separated stomach muscles, for life, which I was happily oblivious to until she brought it up in front of the entire class. She smiled and said something hippy-dippy about my "battle scars". Oy. Won't be going back! Obviously! Angry Least relaxing yoga class, ever.

Ninjacat · 28/09/2010 09:40

Top and bottom teeth here. He looks like a pherana (sp?).
He can walk with a cart but doesn't seem too bothered about going solo and I'm not encouraging it.
Glad to hear everyone seems to be doing ok.
We have a naming ceromony booked in Oct and family seem really bemused as to why we are having one. When I told Mil I might wear my new dress she said "oh I didn't realise we had to dress up" Hmm. Do people not make some effort for most ceremonies be it a christening or a naming?

Oh and if I hear mil utter the words "aint it posh" one more time I will scream. It's not posh its a tooth brush. Its not posh its a sandwich. Its not posh its a bog standard, run of the mill, everyone has one, possibly it's in a neutral colour, possibly it matches other things in our home, possibly you didn't have/need it when your children were little, item. POSH IT AINT!

skorpion · 28/09/2010 10:44

Longway Shock at your class. My getting back into shape doing cycling, yoga and pilates is a big good intention so far...

Happy Birthday Isaac! It'll be Broodzilla's little one soon. And then the party season is in full swing. We're just going to celebrate with family, I'll make my mum's cake recipe (made for both mine and my sister's b'days as well as each one of my nephews'). There is one cute first birthday tradition in Poland: you place various objects symbolising future occupation or lifestyle before the kid to choose as a prediction of their life. Apparently I picked up a coin and dropped it in a shot glass Hmm

I still haven't got my head around the British kid's party thing... To be perfectly honest I am hoping to avoid the hoo-ha until she's at school.

Lucy's started to crawl backwards, getting into some uncomfortable positions like under a chair and screaming in annoyance when she gets stuck. She babbles all the time and still loves the sound of her own voice at volume. She says ta-ta to everything (in bath: mama - 'duck', Lucy - 'ta-ta'), claps in delight and just recently has learned where her tummy is (points to it when asked ). I fully agree, this age is so wonderful and full of fun. The hard bits about sleeping, tummy troubles etc. don't seem so hard anymore, I've just decided to go with the flow with night time wakings. I am absolutely astonished how much my life is about her now and how natural it seems. And how I can't get enough of her.

BeckyBendyLegs · 28/09/2010 15:54

Hello everyone! Does anyone else have a shuffler? Toby has developed a unique not-quite-a-crawl / not-quite-a-bottom-shuffle way of moving. He looks like a crab! Very cute ;)

DontWorryBaby · 28/09/2010 20:18

I know I keep going on about periods but I'm now on day 46!!! To top it all off I've felt lousy for almost a week, like I'm nursing a cold but I have a huge appetite, nausea and tiredness like never before. Think it's time for another test, despite the two negatives a fortnight ago. I'm so fed up with this uncertainty, I'm actually considering stopping breastfeeding just so I get my normal cycle back!!

BBL That sounds very cute! We have a definite crawler here... And at some speed as well! Saying mum & dad, waving, peek a boo, clapping, walking with the babywalker. Still no teeth and ten months old tomorrow (I think).

Skorpion I know exactly what you mean about the party thing. We'll probably have a birthday tea with family and try to avoid "parties" until he's at school.

Fruitpastels · 28/09/2010 21:51

Sorry I've not been on for a while. Can't seem to keep up these days. Have been poorly with tummy bug, bad cold and a very stressful week last week. My Dad had a prostate cancer scare. We had to wait 4 weeks for the results. He is clear and in good health. It's been a huge worry. DH has been waiting for 2 weeks for an outcome to a job interview. He got the offer yesterday! His redundancy pay out is on its way! Work has been stressful as C was really ill with bad cold. This week is a new week and good news all round.

Pav Hope you are feeling ok today.

DWB I think a test would be a good idea. Were you planning another one just yet? No teeth here also.

I've got my period back. I feel really sad about it. Don't know why. I've gone on the mini pill this week.

C is trying to crawl. He spins around on his botttom and rolls around the room to get where he wants to be.

I was on a hen do at the weekend. Had a brill time. Missed my boys though and happy to arrive home. C wouldn't leave me alone all night. He wanted to feed, cuddle and feed every hour. He is sleeping better though and naps have been cracked and he goes down twice a day, 1 hr in morning nd 2hrs afternoon.

Scarlotti Hope your hand is healing well.

SB Hope your boob feel better soon.

I think we'll have a small birthday tea for C. DS1's birthday is 2 days later. We will give him a party with his friends. He has grown up so much since starting school. I feel so proud of him.

I will try and catch up now!

SirBoobAlot · 28/09/2010 22:32

Just had to pop by as thought would make you smile;

At peer supporter training this morning, we were given the instructions (for those of us who wanted them) to show how to make a knitted boob Grin Thought of you all!

(Boob is killing me. Am typing one handed for fear of touching it. )
