oopsandbabycoconuts · 08/09/2010 10:18

Last I heard was at just after 7 when you texted. surges were 5 mins , mw was on her way.

hotterpotter · 08/09/2010 10:20

just get typing woman! I have a meeting to go to in 8 minutes...

hotterpotter · 08/09/2010 10:29

Alright you have time to type a full blow-by-blow account now, back later...

tweakers · 08/09/2010 10:40

i may as well start while you're deciding!

i phoned labour ward to tell them what was happening and then a lovely mw called Jackie phoned me back. and we decided to wait for a couple of hours before getting her round

i then phoned my favourite mw, she was off duty but told me she was coming anyway

not sure when they arrived but they immediately made themselves at home, eating biscuits, drinking coffee and just generally keeping out the way in a very relaxed manner

meanwhile, i was coping with contractions fine. they were getting closer and closer and very very strong but i was managing to breath through them ok, kept active etc

i stuck my hypnobirth cd on at 11.30 to make sure i was calm for the next exam at 12.was amazing, i pretty much fell asleep! Despite all the contractions and the strength of them, mw said i was only 4cm but that she was certain that it was because my waters hadn't gone by that point and she offered an ARM. bit of a discussion with dh meant that we decided to go for it. i was really wanting to get in the pool but obviously couldn't because i wasn't dilated enough

well the hour or so from 12.10 til 13.11 was the most intense of my life!!!! when i found out what time she wasn't born, i didn't believe them! it seemed like ages.

i got straight in the pool after waters were broken, and the relief was immediate but unfortunately didn't last long, presumably because i was in transition by then (but didn't realise at the time!). i asked for gas and air but they delayed it (as per my birth plan and because they knew Pea was only minutes away!)

So, she popped out and i had trouble getting her because she swam away from me!

oopsandbabycoconuts · 08/09/2010 10:49

Amazing Tweaky, well done. Your body knew what to do and did it - FAST! She is beautiful, you and DH must be so proud. Was T amazed to still find her there this morning?

TwilightSurfer · 08/09/2010 11:17

tweaky that's an excellent story and again makes me cry so with emotional joy.

i'm also probably crying because of pms. bad night for me. head ache. sweats. chills. general uncomfortableness. anxiety.Sad crap day ahead i fear.

singapore you may be on to something. i'll have a look in her mouth when i wake her. she's also be shoving her hand in gagging herself.

oops have a pleasant visit with the dr. mine told me r wouldn't have hers removed until she's 8. seems a long time to wait but...

buckets i worried all evening that i didn't say hooray for k's talking before going to bed. hooray!!!

off now to figure out my busy day without a shower because i didn't get up early enough.Hmm

What a great story Tweakers. Is a name change in order - as if you didn't have anything better to do!

RedLentil · 08/09/2010 11:52

Congratulations. What a wonderful story.
Welcome to your lovely daughter. Does she have a name yet? V. exciting!!!

RedLentil · 08/09/2010 12:02

Home but not sleeping over - still commuting because the kids prefer it that way until the painting and tiling is done. They've nowhere to run about here.
HEading back now, so do please text the name.
Big grins here due to thread news!

cyteen · 08/09/2010 12:06

Well done tweaks, and congratulations :) I can't see any pictures though - priorities please!

alittlebitshy · 08/09/2010 14:18

Well done tweakers - lovely lovely story:)

hotterpotter · 08/09/2010 14:38

Oh how lovely Smile

I WANT A BABY TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CrispyTheCrisp · 08/09/2010 15:02

Ooh lovely, lovely tweakers Smile. But i agree, i can't see any pics on yours or DH's FB

Went to a tax course this morning which was excellent. I know, sounds as dull as ditchwater to most of you but not to a nerdy accountant HmmGrin

TS DD1 did this at about the same age, but usually when overexcited. Just putting her down, completely stopping the game and walking away soon worked. Hope it is just a one (or three) off Smile

Right, off to find conkers...

springaporesling · 08/09/2010 15:19

Crispy I'm a CTA so not to me!

cyteen · 08/09/2010 15:35

lol at tax gossip Grin and hotter, me too!

springaporesling · 08/09/2010 16:09

Lol that makes 3 of us then!

Wow well done you Tweakers. Am v pleased to know someone who did hypnobirthing so I can recommend it. It makes so much sense (now, after 3 babies!)

Have been on my feet 9.30-now so am knackered. Our NCT branch hosted a training day for local health professionals to set foundations for working together more, with speakers from NCT head office. Was great despite room double booking which meant we had to have our kids in the hall. They were all so good bless them and Kurt fell in love with a dad that turned up later, kept following him about roaring at him.

TwilightSurfer · 08/09/2010 17:51

Singapore you were right! R has molars coming through ever so barely. Now I feel dumb!

On a truly personal note:
I am both sick with guilt and dumbfounded at the exchange. This morning while running errands I phoned the head room mother to introduce myself, to ask about our class basket and find out any other details from the PTA meeting last Tuesday. She told me not to take offense as I was not the only one to call but that I was the straw that broke the camels back. She said there were too many room mothers (apparently 8 or 9) and she was DONE.BlushConfused Her exact words were YOU CAN DO THE JOB! First how can there be too many room moms? We have 9 months of activities and junk to do. There's only 17 kids in the class so that's a 50% participation rate...THAT'S AWESOME! But she doesn't think so. I tried desperately to reason with her. This whole thing caught me completely off guard (AND I HAVE A MIGRAINE). I asked if she'd meet me for coffee or maybe arrange a meeting for all those interested to meet and go over ideas/tasks (DELEGATING). NOPE! I'M DONE! YOU'VE PUSHED ME TO MY BREAKING POINT!

HOLY CRAP! school just fking started sort of....well it started 4 weeks ago. I want to vomit.Biscuit
