Oh how excited am I....midwife is coming round in the morning to bring the home birth bag!! And I only have a day and a half left in work....that's it. Life is good :)
anything ...any news? Are you going to be a September-er??? Good luck!

KFW · 16/09/2010 11:55

Morning everyone

I don't know if you've seen this thread, but I saw it yesterday because it was highlighted on the right hand side of the MN main page.

Anyway, it gave me a good giggle. But I also was a bit Confused Confused Confused at how long many of these people are breastfeeding for. I was thinking of 6 months (assuming I can actually do it and it works for me and the little one!), maybe even less. I can't belive how many people seem to be going on for well over a year ... or even 2. Does this make me a bad mother? Am I missing some big maternal thing? I really wouldn't want to be in a situation where my child was able to ask for my boob because they could talk. Does that make me weird? Have I just seen too much Little Britain?

Hevster · 16/09/2010 12:02

when DD was a baby I went to a baby group and a woman was BF her 4 yr old, I didn't go again!
KFW def not missing some maternal thing from my point of view but then I didn't bf DD and won't be bf DD2 either

BabyRoosMum homebirth bag sounds exciting - what is in it?

I think anything... must have had her baby! If she was offered steroid injection that must have meant they thought there was a pretty good chance she was in labour...

Yummy re stretchmarks, have some on boobs, hips and thighs (none on tummy) from last time but so far, fingers crossed, they don't seem to be getting any worse! Had a (retrospectively) funny moment this morning when I woke up and thought my tummy was covered in hideous red stretch marks, but on closer inspection it turned out to be just the imprints from where my nightie had got wrinkled up and pressed into my skin where I was lying on it! Phew! Grin

Was up half the night with stomach cramps, thought it might be labour but it had gone by 4a.m. so obviously just braxton hicks - "painless tightenings" my arse!! Hmm

Hevster · 16/09/2010 16:19

Jacks you poor thing, there is nothing painless about this stage of pregnancy!
I have my pre section appointment tomorrow at the hospital - hope they don't scare me sh**less Grin

YummyMummy1208 · 16/09/2010 18:42

Oo i wonder if anything has had her baby? i wonder who will be the first? - i have a picture im going to be the only one left on here talking all by myself when you've all got demanding babies to care for and im way overdue! Grin

i keep getting excited at every twinge i feel thinking 'is this it!?' even though i have already gone through labour once and should know what real contractions feel like i still love pretending to myself this could be it!

Jacks re the waking up horror moment - i had the exact same moment a while back with the whole marks left from pj's! but i already have a batch of them on my belly from last time around and have a new batch from this time around so not really much left to dread i supose! :(

babybunting2010 · 16/09/2010 20:46

i'm so excited for anything, though i do hope everything is ok! Like you yummy i keep getting excited about every twinge but think that's from pure fear of having to give birth i'm bricking it right now and just want it over and done with! Not so much for excitement of having a baby just through excitement of not having to be worried any more! God i sound like a moaning minnie again! Hope you're all ok. X

DillyDora · 17/09/2010 10:45

Morning all, just wanted to say hi. I get BH sometimes but nothing more startling than that...o pleeeeease don't let me go overdue! Wonder how Anything is doing!

Still, only 35+1 so plenty of time to go...

Have a lovely day all....
x

Jacksmybaby · 17/09/2010 12:17

Hey everyone. Been to Primark today to get my post-birth knickers and nightwear/loungewear, lots of soft comfy stuff in big sizes and dirt cheap!

My top tip is to make sure your nighties and pj bottoms for the hospital are in dark colours - nothing more humiliating than doing the shuffle of shame across the post-natal ward with a visible red patch across your bottom from where your maternity pad has leaked (yep, been there, done that) Blush Blush.

Hope everyone ok today. x

Jenko77 · 17/09/2010 13:02

Hi all,
Busy busy busy - only one week left at work and then I can rest... Smile.

Anyhoo, just jumped on quickly to say I saw another thread on here earlier saying that Mamas and Papas are having a sale and I just checked out the website and looks like it's a one weekend only thing - as if I need an excuse to buy more baby stuff!! Handy for any last minute bits you might need.

Hope you're all doing well. x

Hevster · 17/09/2010 14:19

Jacks good point well made, have purchased dark PJ trousers and will get dark nightshirt don't want to be too Blush to get up in the night.

been for pre opp stuff this morning and saw the most ineffifcient, clueless midwife yet, am thinking of awarding her the gold star for crapness now as don't see how anyone could better her Grin

happy friday all

KFW · 17/09/2010 15:20

Hev thank you - i was confused by it. i just really can't imagine doing it for that long. i suppose that most people who post on there are going to be feeding older babies otherwise they wouldnt have such good stories. there must be plenty of others who dont do it for so long. or at all. (my mum didnt and i'm fine Grin )

jacks - good tips, thanks. off to purchase some dark clothing! it's all starting to feel a little more real now...

have a good couple of days all. my hubby and i are off to our nct horror this weekend. presentations here we come!

Hevster · 17/09/2010 15:22

KFW Good Luck!

DillyDora · 17/09/2010 17:32

Good luck KFW

Yes, Jacks I think it will be like being a teenager again with leaks everywhere! And the only really thin robe I have is white...others will just be too hot...eek...new one?

OK Ladies, here's an amusing tale of yet another crazy thing I have done, I went off to have some acupuncture for my SPD pain....:

Well, as if I hadn't done enough odd things to my fanjo so far this pg what with the mole, the frozen yoghurt tubes on the SP joint and all, I now need to shave it. O yes. Went for acupuncture just now, 'where is the pain' sez the man - in my SP joint sez I. So he explains he can tape it Shock and that can really help so...where is the pain again? Point to front of self, yes, SP joint still where my fanjo is, hasn't conveniently moved to me knee for a less embarrassing experience all round. Hmmm...asks me to put the tape on myself and then he tries to pull it up to stick the other end somewhere else (round tummy button perhaps?) but too much hair...blush...so he tells me I'll have to shave it for next time Hmm o no sez I as regrowth will be dreadful I have heard so we have agreed I'll just clipper it short (and the mole is bound to cause a problem...). So, anyhoo, he just does normal acupuncture (and yes, he put a needle in the ruddy lady parts just the one mind, not the usual 3 - give me strength!) which hurt like ..a bad swear word..but I feel better now (well you would, wouldn't you?!), I tried to do my breathing....

I can only say that you can't fault me for trying everything to cope better with the SPD and after all this, please may I have a pain free labour and delivery?! And yes, ladies, I can hear you laughing from here and who can blame you?!

Jacksmybaby · 17/09/2010 19:33

Good Lord, needles in the lady parts?! Shock

JazzieJeff · 17/09/2010 19:44

Hiya all! Scan on Tuesday went fine, got plenty of fluid surrounding bub so they didn't know why I was measuring so small. He weighs 6lbs already with 3 weeks to go! Little chubster!

dilly needles in your flower? Are you joking? Sod that for a game of sharks, id be out of there!

yummy no stretchmarks on my tummy yet here, but I've got spidery looking things on the tops of my thighs that I'm not sure what they are. I don't know if they're stretchmarks because they fade overnight and almost disappear in the bath, they could be just busted veins but I hope they fade after!

kfw I know what you mean about long term bf ing... Don't think I'd want a three year old after 'bitty' ;)

Xx

Jacksmybaby · 17/09/2010 19:54

Yay! Good news, Jazzie.

BabyRoosMum · 17/09/2010 20:12

Not loving the idea of acupuncture...I think down there is going to suffer enough in the next few weeks!!

I'm feeling lots of tweaks/twinges too but finally got to my last day of work so have now got nowt to do but wait and, in a way, I feel more nervous now! It was like work was my secret safety net...I was thinking, "there's no way I'll have this baby whilst I'm still working" which was true. But of course, now I'm not Shock Got loads of pressies for baby and me from my team and loads of others from the office. The exec head of the department had her mum knit a little white cardi...I was so touched. It's a nice tradition to have a hand-knitted cardi for a new baby, don't you think? And even though I don't think I even know anybody that knits, people always seem to pop up with one when somebody is expecting Grin

So....the midwife brought the home birth bag. We were very excited and she did all the checks to make sure baby roo was still in the right position etc-he/she was, wohoo! So we've got that delivery kit with scissors for cord etc in it, little red book for baby roo, borings like sharps box, bucket-sorry, "placenta bucket" (yum) kit for stitches...there are some medicines in our fridge and some in the cupboard already to go, just need to get my prescription for pethidine on monday (which means if I go into labour this weekend, I'm on gas and air only... Shock ) It all came in a little wheelie shopping trolley thingy, which was pink....it's a sign baby roo is a girl!!! :) I'm sure of it!

Oh, and the Bounty bag you get in hospital...so we aren't left out :)

Good luck KFW ...Have told dp about your presentation and he was very grateful to not have been signed up for those classes! :)

Hevster · 17/09/2010 20:25

Babyroo thats quite some kit, i had always assumed the mw brings it on the day, not that i have given it much thought!

dilly oh my goodness, you poor poor thing that is just hideous - def no laughter here

OP posts:
babybunting2010 · 17/09/2010 20:45

dilly that's hilarious and can see why you nearly died of embarrassment! Jazzie 6lb is nothing our little one was 7lb 11oz at 36 weeks! Am hoping to god she turns up early. I'm really intrigued to know if anything has had her lo! X

DillyDora · 17/09/2010 23:20

Hi all, lovely to hear about bouncing babies on scans and nice pressies and getting ready for home births. Still got 3 weeks to go till I finish work...

Have to admit, after all those needles and what have you, I am in less pain...maybe there's something in it after all, let's see how I sleep....

SilverSky · 18/09/2010 08:06

Hi - am new to this Oct thread! Have been on t'other one tho it's gone walkies!

I am 35+5 and due 18/10 tho I reckon I am threedays later. But what do I know!

No idea what flavour and hope I am allowed to join you all.

Not long now! I am finishing work soon too - can't wait!

DillyDora · 18/09/2010 09:17

Hi Silversky course you're welcome here but here's the link to the other one too:
october thread so you can be on both like me!

Do you reckon a different date cos of when you ovulated or a short cycle? I think I'm due 4 days earlier than they do....

SilverSky · 18/09/2010 09:22

I think cos of ovulation! But am more than ready to be proved wrong! Thanks for the link dilly.

Going to hang out on both if I can keep up!!
