Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

Hev good u have childcare sorted. Nursery no good for us because we need 7am - 7pm. And v difficult to find a childminder who has vacancies for both a 4yo and a baby. Hence nanny looking like the only option at the moment. So difficult isn't it!

Have also got the bumbo out of the attic (well actually a different brand not bumbo but same idea). And the doorway bouncer. So will be trying those out soon.

DD is 4 mths this week but no plans to wean for the moment. And DS turns 4 on tues can't believe it!

Jacksterbear · 20/01/2011 09:38

Hev just read that back and it looked a bit like I was saying "well it's alright for SOME!" - which is not how I meant it!

Hevster · 20/01/2011 13:41

Jacks don't be a numpty! how are you getting on with the buggy board?

OP posts:
Jacksterbear · 20/01/2011 14:51

Grin that did make me laugh!

Buggy board is genius, don't know how we would survive without it, as we live in a village so do a lot of walking around, to local shops, nursery school etc.

Hevster · 20/01/2011 19:46

Jacks thats good, I haven't got on with the one we borrowed but I wonder if it's because I go too far (10 miles today and 4 of them carrying DD2 in sling)knackered smiley face!

OP posts:
anythingwithagiraffeonit · 20/01/2011 20:23

10 miles!! Wow...

I walked one street away to the post box with DD this afternoon and felt triumphant :p

We went to rhyme time at the library and she absolutely loved it!! Her little legs were pumping away and she kept giving me a silly smile :)

We bought a play nest / inflatable ring thing and she seems quite happy in it so far... Damn hard to blow up though!! Lol

Hevster we're going to Addaya to a villa we've rented in august... Can't wait! Bought DD some holiday clothes already!

Jacksterbear · 21/01/2011 10:38

10miles omg!!

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 21/01/2011 15:11

Are we missing some people on this thread? Where is saartjie (sp?) who moved to south Africa... And I'm sure there are others... Sophieandbelly I think?

KathMCB · 21/01/2011 17:34

Am feeling very pleased with myself tonight, have made cheese and onion pie and a lemon curd cake! Go me!
(I am not a good cook so this is an achievement for me, its in aid of my hubby finishing his exams today)

Am panicking about childcare as we speak but need to find a new job first yet otherwise I am commuting from Durham to Edinburgh with a one year old..... :)

Jacksterbear · 21/01/2011 19:49

Yay - go Kath!

anything... yeah there are loads of people who don't seem to post anymore. Hope they are all ok!

Not v well today Sad but good news is DH has taken DCs to his parents for the night so I can get some rest - an unexpected break! (Shame I can't enjoy it more really! Grin.)

Hevster · 21/01/2011 20:17

Jacks I am more jealous than I can remember ever being (sorry you are not well though)
Anything sadly I don't get to buy clothes as both DD's are October babies I already have more than I should from DD1 (might have to accidently send some to the charity shop) Grin A villa sounds lovely
Kath good effort!

Arghh...my LO has had a personality change and is now grumpy baby who wants to eat all the time and can't seem to wind down and sleep even though he is very very tired....as I write this he is screaming in his dad's arms...I am assuming this is the three month growth spurt? He has no temp and seems otherwise fine.

On the plus side I can now also make coffee and walnut cake! :)

bearbrains · 24/01/2011 19:19

Hello ladies. I am a newbie Mum to Daisy - 13 wks today, and total forum newbie too. Still at that stage of motherhood where I don't know what the hell I'm doing! Does that ever change? x

Hevster · 24/01/2011 20:57

Welcome bearbrains sure you are doing just fine ( I still don't know what I am doing and my Daisy is 3!)

OP posts:
KathMCB · 25/01/2011 09:12

Welcome bearbrains Lovely to have you here! My LO is 12 weeks old and I am as lost as lost can be! (its all good fun though)

JellyJenko · 25/01/2011 09:12

Welcome bearbrains. The best thing about this thread is you realise everyone is in the same boat. I so thought motherhood was something that came naturally, but instead it's like being on a really intensive study course having to learn everything really quickly (and with a very demanding tutor!) Grin.

Kath I'm with you. I keep checking DS over in case there's a rash or any obvious sign of illness, but apart from a slightly snotty nose, he's fine - just turned into a demon child over the weekend!! Arrgghhhh... Shock Well done on the cake making by the way! Smile

KathMCB · 25/01/2011 13:33

Maybe there is a demon child virus that is spreading our way??

Weight loss has now stopped.....may be all the cake?

bearbrains · 25/01/2011 16:42

Thanks for your welcomes ladies. We also had the demon child virus this week-end - a friend of mine swears it's caused by the full moon :o - spooky! When they're in a growth spurt has anyone else noticed that they tend to sleep a lot? DD is feeding more often and definitely grumpier than normal, most feeds end in a snooze, she's got a bit of a cold as well at the mo so I s'pose it could just be that ...

JazzieJeff · 25/01/2011 17:13

Marking my place for later. I'd write more, but it's 5pm and Danny has morphed into the devil. I'm currently checking him for '666' tattoos and wondering what I'd get for him on eBay. £3.51 with accessories? He's had all his jabs......

KathMCB · 25/01/2011 18:07

It must be the demon child virus Jazzie

bearbrains my LO should be sleeping a lot but seems to fight it all day long!!

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 25/01/2011 23:19

This is probably a really stupid question so I'm not brave enough to ask it anywhere else but here!

Does a footmuff only cover the feet? Or does it cover the whole chair?

I have to buy a runaround pushchair to fit in mt friends car boot (long story!) and they all look so flimsy, I saw a footmuff online and it looked like it would create a sort of 'nest'... only then did my DH say...'isn't that just for feet?'

Feel free to fall off your chairs laughing :p I don't know how we manage to get DD through each day actually with our hideous lack of baby knowledge!!

Jacksterbear · 26/01/2011 12:27

I think you can buy different types anything but the one we have goes up behind the baby and has slots for putting the pushchair straps through then zips up at the front so it comes up over the baby's lap.
For more of a cosy effect you could try one of those sheepskin rug buggy liner things that just go under the baby. Or you can get some pushchairs with head supports for smaller babies.

KathMCB · 26/01/2011 17:37

I think jackster is right, we have a sheepskin liner from John Lewis that was a present....I think the footmuff thing is for the whole chair....it is for the Quinny that we have :)

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 27/01/2011 00:42

Thanks ladies, i'll go to john lewis then I think...

I bought the quinny zapp xtra today as it folds SO SMALL! (Amazing!!) I love it!

Buying prams is the best :p

I was also suckered into buying a new maxi cosi cabriofix just because it was pink. They really saw me coming!
