So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

Oh it's half term? I did wonder why there were thousands of children getting in my way in DIY stores last week.

I am busy with the house, it is in chaos. I have a oven but it is currently not connected as the socket for it is above the oven and therefore 'illegal'. I got a fucking lecture Angry from the Currys man about the importance of getting a survey when buying a house to highlight such things. I did get a bloody survey and it made no mention of oven switches in the wrong place, just went on and bloody on about asbestos everywhere. I am Annoyed.

I have a man coming on monday to move my socket but I am afeared this will be a depressing downward slide of tutting and head shaking towards rewiring the entire house.

Gabriel slept from 8.30 to 4ish last night which may have been a miracle. I don't want to tempt fate but he seems to be getting a bit better. He is currently in our bed until his new bed arrives in a week or two.

Hope everyone having a lovely weekend Grin

:o at "depressing downward slide of tutting and head shaking towards rewiring the entire house" - our electrical survey did make this suggestion, but the electrician has seen the stae of us, and agreed that it could copewith a a few minor changes to make it legal!

we spent the weekend doing more house stuff, stressing about things, and gardening.

Oli has started to talk even more, he was running around going 'night night mummy!' night night daddy' 'night night doggy!' and 'bed? book? bilk?' when I was trying to get him to sleep. very funny :o he is getting really good at catching a ball too - not 100% of the time, but he's pretty confident! Shame he still Won't Sleep. I really can't believe how knackered I am after the weekend, I should feel refreshed and renewed, rather than limp and ragged.

only a few years to go until we can buy medised for him legally though.

KvetaBarry · 06/06/2011 11:16

oh, and how was the concert Ladyem? saw your photos! I'm not even remotely a fan, but it looked quite exciting!

ChutesTooNarrow · 06/06/2011 13:46

God, there isn't even any pissing wiring in my illegal socket. It's empty. So it is not even the case that the socket has to be moved as there is nothing to move. My electrician has just had to trundle off to a wholesaler to get the necessary bits to hack my kitchen apart and make the oven work. I am just trying to keep on breathing, I had no idea it would be this complicated.

OP posts:
KvetaBarry · 06/06/2011 13:56

we had an entire row of empty sockets in ours. and all the bedrooms are wired from the same socket, with extension cables trailing round the place. you have my sympathy.

just keep telling yourself how cheap the house was (relative to others locally). we have 'it was cheap' as a mantra in our house. as well as 'he'll sleep one day' and 'this too shall pass'

BerryLellow · 08/06/2011 11:46

Hello everyone - if everyone is still there? It's gone very quiet everywhere! Great you Olympic tickets Duch, I really wanted to apply but couldn't risk loads of money going out of my account when we need so many pennies for our house. I would have liked to have seen some of the equestrian events, especially cross country. Oh well!
Not long until we move - fingers crossed for this weekend. Am putting the boys in bunk beds - I may have lost my mind :o

BerryLellow · 21/06/2011 11:30

Helloooo

KvetaBarry · 21/06/2011 11:40

hello!! :o

we got olympic tickets too! either to show jumping or modern pentathlon (because it has horses). Quite exciting! although I got 4 tickets, one for an as yet un-conceived child, so better get making that ticket holder soon Blush :o

however, after last night's performance from Oli, I'm not going to have the energy for another baby any time soon. I'm really hopeful he's just teething, and not into a regression, but we were up from 2 am until 4 am, so when my alarm went at 6 I was just about ready to scream. Instead of coming in to work and another long day of meetings

still, I'm just away to pick up a walnut tree someone at work is selling, so I can have fun with planting that later today!

ChutesTooNarrow · 28/06/2011 11:22

This dropped off my 'threads I'm on' Shock Shock It is going to last until September again, isn't it?

Gabriel has suddenly decided to rock out lots of new words. We have ba (ball), mou (mouse) and dere (there, when being asked where the mou is). He also does animal noises when he feels like it. Often he doesn't feel like it so S and I are quacking, mooing and baaing like idiots whilst he looks at us like we are insane.

Kveta · 28/06/2011 12:52

Oli insists that 'bubble' means ball, bubble, and balloon. I'm loving his speech explosion. Especially his newfound ability to use the word 'no' in response to any question he's asked Hmm

we met my parents yesterday (we were driving south on the M6, they were driving north, so we met half way for 40 minutes :o) and Oli was chattering away to their dogs, but ignoring my parents completely. He has started to repeat most phrases he hears, so after seeing Rastamouse, he was running around shouting 'Come in! Come in!' in a rasta voice to the dogs :o (he was also yelling 'it's coming!' when doing a poo, which was partly :o but mainly )he was reasonably well behaved over the weekend, and charmed the socks off my friends up in Edinburgh, so we had a fairly nice time!

oh, and our olympic tickets are for men's modern pentathlon. um, yay?

DuchessEm · 30/06/2011 13:53

Hello!!

Well, after being stuck in the house for almost 2 and a half weeks, we are now officially allowed out again! Yippeeeeeeeeeee!! Grin My brain has stopped working and I have lost the ability to think straight, unless answering questions about Disney films and/or Lightning McQueen! It has been the most gruelling time and it was topped off nicely when DH came home from work on Friday with a tummy bug, so I avidly avoided him to make sure that I didn't catch it!! Grin

We have re-booked our holiday for the 17th August, so 7 weeks to go. Gutted that we should be chasing the kidsround the pool lazing by the pool now, soaking up some much needed sunshine, but at least we still have it to looks forward to. And we have our long weekend in the Isle of Wight next weekend. Fingers crossed for dry weather.

Kveta - have you got your actual tickets yet? We had the email confirmation that we have tickets to the rowing, but no actual tickets yet. Am starting to worry that we won't get them now!

Glad to hear that the speech is coming along nicely for Gabe and Oli! We still only have a few words, but he can make himself understood most of the time by gestures and pointing if he can't say the word! Grin

I have just realised that it is only 7 weeks until J is 2!!! Shock How did that happen?!!

Anyway, they are both in bed at the minute, so I am going to have a cuppa and put my feet up before one of them wakes up!! Grin

BerryLellow · 04/07/2011 10:54

Hello everyone, just keeping this on my threads - although we are going to be limping towards 1000 very slowly, oops :)

It's been such a nice weekend, so two days on the beach here. Good job too, as we are so skint we can't afford anything at the moment. Stupid bills all going out at once, and the kitchen invoice came through last week :o

I'm trying to sort out campin gear this week, some friends of ours are renewing their vows and have made a sort of weekend festival of it, so we can camp and drink and listen to bands. Only trouble is we have NO tent, sleeping bags, lilos.... I do NOT wish to sleep in my car DP, pull your finger out!

Kveta · 04/07/2011 11:12

DuchessEm - we don't have the tickets yet, should get them next year, I thought? which reminds me, I must change our address on my ticket account! Glad you got your holiday rebooked too - how frustrating that must have been for you all! Love your photos from the weekend though - J is such a little boy now!

Barry - let's not mention being skint at the moment, we just got a revised quote from the kitchen fitter it's almost a good thing we'll have 3 weeks minus a kitchen, as we can't bloody afford to eat much anyway!! No holidays for us this year, although I'm trying to convince DH to go back to the Czech Rep at some point for a long weekend, as he's been quite homesick recently, and I can't face the journey with Oli at the moment.

We're getting our bed on thursday!! so we now have a bedroom, I just need to hoover the carpet and strategically position some rugs over the worst paint stains. Then tonight we are putting together the IKEA wardrobe, and maybe moving the chest of drawers in, and on thursday night we should be able to sleep there! no curtains yet, so no (ahem) naughty business for a while though :o

speaking of which, I'm having pointless arguments over names with DH at the moment, as 2 of his friends have just had babies, and so I'm doing the fantasy 'our next child will be called' game, which drives him mad (and not in a good way). Ah, the joys of married life!! :o

anyway, we need to come up with a name for the next thread!

my suggestions are (in keeping with the Hello World theme of the last 2):
'Hello World, NO! MINE!' (or in Oli speak 'No! MINE BOGIES! MINE!'
'Hello World, you'll end before this thread does'
'Hello World, sorry for kicking the crap out of you every time I don't get my own way. Hopefully I'll stop doing that before I go to school'

BerryLellow · 04/07/2011 12:35

Hello World, sleep is for the weak

BerryLellow · 12/07/2011 14:25

bump

LJ29 · 15/07/2011 13:39

how about " Hello World, I'm called the Terrible Two's! Pleased to meet you!"

ChutesTooNarrow · 19/07/2011 09:20

Loving the thread name ideas.

They start sleeping at two right? We have finished Gabe's bedroom, and he has slept for, ooh, minutes in it each night. He is getting over a cold and is fine in the day but hot and snotty at night and wakes constantly. The last two evenings we have been so fed up of the constant waking and we were missing the apprentice we have brought him downstairs and he has happily slept on the sofa. Strange child. I am getting just enough sleep to function but it leaves me in a Thoroughly Bad Mood all the time.

OP posts:
Kveta · 19/07/2011 14:14

I like that one LJ :o

please god let them start sleeping at 2... 2 am would do for us at the moment actually. little delight was up at 10, 12, 3 and 5 last night. DH and I are beyond tired. kitchen is going in this week and next though, so we can start eating proper food soon, thankfully.

oh, and as DH and I actually have a bed now, we are sleeping in the same room again, which is lovely! sadly we often end up with an infant between us, but it does beat sleeping on the sofa or the floor.

Kveta · 28/07/2011 09:53

BUUUUMMMMMPPP!!!

ChutesTooNarrow · 28/07/2011 12:36

Bumpy bump. I am so tired even though G managed five hours without waking up last night. He managed this mainly due to sleeping on top of me, elbow in my throat whilst I stared up at the ceiling like this all night --> Hmm

OP posts:
DuchessEm · 03/08/2011 15:48

Well, thanks to some little bugger stealing 700m of copper cable, we (and the rest of our village) have been without phone and internet access since Saturday evening. That, coupled with not being able to get mobile reception in our village, has made it an unbearable few days! I didn't realise quite how often I pick the phone up to just have a little chat with people! It has been quite funny, though, seeing people walk round the streets with their phones up in the air, trying to get enough reception to send a text!! Grin Thank goodness it is all up and running now.

Are you all enjoying the sunshine? We have the paddling pool out and the splash mat, so my grass is also getting a much needed watering! Grin

2 weeks to our holiday! I am so excited! This weather is definitely getting us all in the mood. That also means that it is only 18 days until my little boy turns 2! How did that happen? He's too tiny to be 2!!

DuchessEm · 03/08/2011 15:49

Or do I mean 700 feet of cable? Either way they cut off our phones!! Grin

Kveta · 03/08/2011 18:12

oh my god DuchessEm! that's so annoying!

I'm still not sure I believe that our holy terrors little ones will turn 2 soon. it seems like only yesterday we were still uncomfortably pregnant with them!

BerryLellow · 07/08/2011 16:16

Stealing the phone lines?!! That's a new one! How annoying.

Our village only works on one mobile network so when the aerial for it (on the hill) goes down, the whole village gets antsy and complains most vociferously. :o

Has anyone made decisions about 2nd birthday presents yet?

ChutesTooNarrow · 08/08/2011 16:59

If anyone has a Macro card then I feel duty bound to tell you that Little Tikes Cosy Cottages are currently £50. I now have one in my sitting room and am wondering if it can be G's birthday present. We may still get him a kitchen

I got presents from Macro as well - a four litre tub of mayonnaise and about 200 dishwasher tablets
