So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

Sweeps up tumble-weed! [cgrin]

KvetaBarry · 01/05/2011 19:08

it's been a bit quiet on here! too nice outside maybe?!

you probably saw on FB that I had an 'eventful' day with Oli. Still a bit shaky after it tbh. And monumentally guilty, because we should have put the child locks on as soon as he went into a forward facing seat. However, trying not to dwell on it too much, and have just tucked him into bed and given him a big cuddle.

did you all enjoy the royal wedding? we were starting to dismantle the kitchen in our house :o I planned to drop in on our local street party in the evening, but was too filthy and knackered by the time we got home from the house. Plus I was wearing my 'got parasites?' t-shirt, which would not have gone down well :o

house is horrendous, it seems the man who lived there like no more nails, so EVERYTHING is glued down. his curtain rails are all glued onto lengths of timber, which have been glued up above the windows. And all the curtain rails are either far too long or far too short for the windows. The whole place is a total bodge job. Got our new bathroom ordered though, should be fitted at the beginning of june, and then hopefully ordering the kitchen next week. Expensive, but very very exciting too!!

Other Oli news - the child never ever shuts up now. His latest is just to repeat a word for hours, and today he was alternating between 'Bottom!' and 'Doggy! woofWoof!'. he still isn't sleeping well. not sure why we keep him sometimes...

hope you avoid the chicken pox duchessem! it's been doing the rounds here, so we have been keeping ourselves to ourselves a lot! and deeply [cenvy] that you have a spa day!!

KvetaBarry · 05/05/2011 18:13

bump!

BerryLellow · 07/05/2011 08:50

Helllllooooooooo

KvetaBarry · 10/05/2011 11:09

right, will just have to talk to myself now then!!

moving into new house on thursday, so will be offline for at least 4 days Shock [hyperventilating]. we're doing the move over the weekend - so, large items on thursdya whilst Oli is with CM, then DH and I have friday free to sort the house out into bedrooms etc, Saturday our fridge freezer is being delivered (I absolutely cannot wait for this! my first fridge freezer! I am truly a sad bastard!), and sunday we've moving the bedding and freezer contents over - so Sunday night will be our first night there!

Only 3 weeks until we have a shower after that, and hopefully we'll be able to get our kitchen fitted by the end of june too.

Oli has an appt with the ENT specialist on friday, so I'm starting to be ever so slightly worried about it. his hearing is so hit and miss, I'm nearly certain it's just toddler selective deafness, but best to get him checked out - will get my mum off my case anyway...

someone at work was selling some plastic tat a little tikes activity cube thing with a slide on it, so I got that for the garden - hopefully that will keep him occupied occasionally, rather than him trying to climb the bins, or lick the outside tap Hmm toddlers...

BerryLellow · 10/05/2011 17:18

HOW EXCITING!

We are awaiting a wickes price for the kitchen - I'm going over there tomorrow at 5 to see what ridiculous ideas they have come up with. Mark is down at the house at the moment, plastering ceilings and hopefully sorting out the new bathroom suite. He's been a bit crowbar happy this past couple of days so taking Mads down there has been slightly nervewracking - not least because of the rather dangerous open staircase Hmm My lovely dad is down there avec bad back (against my advice) cracking on with some painting too. It's all a bit DIY SOS at times :o

I really wanted one of those activity cubes too, Mad loves the little tikes slide in my parents back garden. They are an extortionate amount new so have slipped slightly down the list of 'stuff to buy'.

Hope the appointment goes well on Friday.

Longest post natal post from me in Ages!

ChutesTooNarrow · 10/05/2011 20:19

I'm watching lots of little tikes cubey slide things on ebay atm! Am shocked how much they are even second hand though.

Was it just Oli not responding to you that triggered the ENT referral Kveta? As Gabriel is terrible for completely ignoring me, but what worries me is he can not leave his ears alone. He is always pulling at them, sticking his fingers in them and seems often in pain, yet when I take him to the GP there is no ear infection. We think it is his ears that stop him sleeping, and always thought it was linked to teething but currently I am not so sure.

peachygirl · 10/05/2011 20:31

Hi poping in, I should be doing some work.

KvetaBarry · 10/05/2011 20:46

chutes - he had repeated ear infections for a few horrendous months, which was followed by his hearing seeming to get worse, so I asked for a referral. pretty sure his ears are stopping him sleeping too. he is always sticking my fingers in them too. odd child.

BerryLellow · 16/05/2011 11:01

Another snot fest here....

BerryLellow · 19/05/2011 08:55

........

DuchessEm · 19/05/2011 15:35

Same here, Berry. Sad J been sitting on my knee all week, full of cold and not a happy boy. Am really crossing my fingers that he will be better for tomorrow (Dad's wedding) or it will be a miserable day for all of us. Hope that your boys are getting better.

Chutes - what are these cubey-things? Are they for outdoor? I need some new outdoor toys as Katie is a tad enthusiastic with her toys and so they don't tend to last too long!! Grin

Bazza - How are Oli's ears? Hope that you get the referral soon and that they can help to sort it all out.

So I've just been sitting on my bum this week with snot-boy glued to my lap. Managed to help sort out the final bits and pieces for tomorrow so now just looking forward to the wedding and crossing my fingers that DD will walk down the aisle (she is the only bridesmaid) and not decide to cling to my leg instead! Having DH's car valeted today as it is being used for the wedding party and we've not cleaned it since going to Disney Blush. Means that I have had to drive it today though as DH has taken my car to work, and I have been driving so slowly and parked in the biggest M&T spot I could find outside Boots this morning!! Grin Have bought a ribbon from ebay to put on, so better have a look on how that is supposed to go! I have a list of jobs as long as my arm that need doing so better get off my backside and get something done while J is in bed! Grin

peachygirl · 20/05/2011 20:14

hi popping again

ChutesTooNarrow · 23/05/2011 09:52

cube slide thingy although I don't intend to pay more than thirty quid for one. I am totally gutted that I missed out on a bargain double slide for the garden as I forgot to bid on it, I'm a bit rubbish at ebay.

We got the lurgy too this weekend. Gabe and I are still coughing, wheezing and dripping snot (nice). I currently can't hear with my left ear and am unsure if I should actually do anything about it, or if it will sort itself out. It is flipping painful though and I am a lot more sympathetic to master G if he has this frequently.

How did the wedding go Duchess?

OP posts:
DuchessEm · 25/05/2011 10:04

That cube thing looks brill. Will have to have a look on ebay see what is on offer.

Wedding was fantastic, thanks! Katie was really good and did actually walk down the aisle and have her photograph taken so I am really proud of her for that. J was a bit grizzly, as usual, but we all went back to my Dad's after the reception (was just a day time do) and we were expecting to have to leave at about 7.30pm, but J really picked up at about 8pm and was still running round and giggling at 10pm! And the best bit was that they slept in until 9am the next morning!

Hope you are feeling better now!

ChutesTooNarrow · 25/05/2011 13:24

Oh that reminds me to check ebay.

I can't hear, my ear still hurts like buggery and I can't get a doctors appointment until tuesday. I am very Sad today. I cried at the receptionist when she said there were no appointments, and I can't even be assessed for an emergency appt until tomorrow morning - not that I am an emergency though? I don't know what counts, I am in a lot of pain but it is not life threatening.

I am meant to be packing and cleaning. Instead I am draped around the house whimpering. Gabe has watched telly for two days straight, he has a lovely chesty cough still.

I'm glad the wedding went well!

KvetaBarry · 25/05/2011 14:06

hiya, hope you're feeling better soon chutes - ear infections are horrible :( I think a lot of pain would be classed as an emergency for the GP, but not an A+E emergency. To me, a GP emergency is something non-life threatening which needs to be dealt with soon - so an infection, or acute pain. A potentially life-threatening emergency (bleeding, fainting, limb breaking) would class as an A+E emergency. So you are an emergency. Make that very clear to the receptionist! Or try out of hours later - they tend to be more sympathetic. It is worth ever so slightly exagerrating your symptoms on the phone, rather than doing the british thing of 'oh, my leg has fallen off, but apart from the blood gushing from it, I think I'll be ok until tomorrow, I can just hop, and use a bucket for the gushing, ok, sorry to bother you!'. So try 'the pain is unbearable, and I'm pretty certain I have an ear infection whcih requires urgent treatment, or at least assessment'.

Oli and I both have stinking colds, so no more sleep from him. I was very snappy with him yesterday Blush because he was just whining all afternoon, and nothing was right. and he kept on and sodding on about 'wingu?' because in his ideal world he'd be jumping up and down on the sofa holding the PS3 remote and watching pingu whilst I feed him chocolate buttons and/or milk.

He has started saying 'bilk!' to any boobs he sees (including shouting it at a topless woman who was sunbathing by the path into town the other day), so this morning the nursery worker was holding him, and he was patting her boobs going 'bilk?' and looking ever so hopeful. I beat a hasty retreat Blush

we have that cube slide thing in red and yellow - they aren't cheap on ebay! and you need a rubber headed mallet to get the buggers apart when you've put them together wrong Blush. Oli seems to like it though :) mainly as a launch pad.

glad the wedding went well Em - Katie looked so pretty in her dress :)

DuchessEm · 27/05/2011 09:23

How's the ear, Chutes? Did you manage to get in to see the Dr?

Grin @ bilk!!

Went to see DD's school this week and it is so lovely, which has put my mind at rest somewhat. Seems that they aren't made to sit in a regimented fashion and learn spelling and reading from the outset as I had imagined! That have lovely play areas and in the afternoons they are allowed to play and have fun. In the mornings they do phonics and project work, so they are eased into it, it would seem! And also she will know half of the children that are starting with her, so that should also help.

4 weeks to our long awaited sunny holiday! I haven't been on a beach holiday since I was PG with DD in 2006. I have lovely visions of laying by the pool with my Kindle, but I know that in reality I will be running around trying to stop a toddler from falling in said pool! Also, I stupidly booked us one of those 'sun' voucher holidays for July not realising that it is the weekend after we get back from Spain, so I will be spending the week un-packing, washing and re-packing!!

ChutesTooNarrow · 27/05/2011 11:09

That school sounds lovely Em. I looked at the website for the school we will be in catchment for and it looks similar, really relaxed and focused on nurturing. I am so pleased the uniform does not have a tie as well! I am horrified by the thought of small children in ties.

I did get a doc appt, and now have antibiotics and stronger painkillers. It's not really touching the pain though, it's bloody awful. I am sick of the ringing noise as well now. I took Gabe to his toddler group yesterday as we hadn't been out all week and was actually quite terrified at how disorientating it is being partially deaf in a noisy place. I couldn't hear a thing anyone said.

For the last week Gabe has settled into a new routine of bed at 7.30, wake at 1 and scoot into our bed, and one more wake up at 5, and then up for the day at 7. This is fab, I can handle this but obviously I am sleeping dreadfully due to pain Hmm Hmm I can give good odds on his sleep going to pot again once I am better. I am worried the house move will unsettle him.

I am currently waiting for the phone call to say the funds for the house have gone to the right people and I can go and get the keys Grin I can't believe we will be homeowners in a few hours! Shock

KvetaBarry · 01/06/2011 12:35

hello!

DuchessEm · 02/06/2011 10:03

Hello!!!! Grin It is very quiet on here and on the FB page!! You must all be very busy with the new houses!! I haven't been up to much, just been enjoying the holiday and visiting people. We had some money taken by the Olympics people from our account, so looks like we are off to the Olympics! Grin Will either be rowing or athletics. I wanted to go to the swimming or diving/synchro but the dates weren't any good for us. I'm not even thinking about how the terrible British public transport system will cope with it all and how extortionate the hotel prices will be. Hopefully we can stop with relatives who live in Berkshire, but I do feel a bit bad descending on them with 2 young kids!

Hope you are all well and those on half term aren't tearing their hair out yet!! Grin
