So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

HollyBerryLelloHoHo · 15/12/2010 13:32

Everything ok (clearly not) What's happened?

arudolf · 15/12/2010 13:54

just general crap really :) here is the full tedious detail. but, god, I am so over this house buying malarky now, and we don't even own the fecker yet.

grrr!

ChimneysTooNarrow · 15/12/2010 13:54

Oh just seen your AIBU (YANBU!). Arses. My mum and sister have both just bought and there were so many complications along the way. My mum's new house took over 4 months from offer to completion and there was only a small chain of two. My sister's solicitor was a nightmare, and I am very cross at the estate agents she bought from as they told my sister she had to use this solicitor - and as sis was a first time buyer she didn't realise she didn't have too. Bless her, she is in her flat now, has no furniture and keeps on ringing me with random questions asking how to clean a shower screen or something (she was the mollycoddled child!).

It sounds like yours is moving kveta, just very slowly, it must be so frustrating. Ignore any attitude from the people you are buying from, sounds like they are taking their incompetence out on you.

arudolf · 15/12/2010 14:01

the EA told us we had to use their solicitors, and I said we'd shop around, thank you very much, after they quoted us a ludicrous fee. The sellers went with those solicitors... aren't your mum and sis in the same general area as we are? did their EA start with an I by any chance?

how's gabe's sleeping by the way? hope it's improving for you :)

HollyBerryLelloHoHo · 15/12/2010 14:15

Oh shite - what a nightmare. Hope it all gets sorted.

General crap always feels like worse crap at this time of year. I've been on the phone to the council this morning to get back the council tax they keep taking even though we moved out 3 months ago. Don't think there's much chance of £285 being refunded before Christmas somehow Xmas Angry Angry

arudolf · 15/12/2010 14:17

oh good luck with that barry - I am going to have to have words with the council when we move, which I can't wait for. luckily I pay them each month, it's not done by DD, so the worst that can happen is them threatening us.

40 minutes until I can collect Oli, so I suppose I should do a wee bit of work rather than making lists of house things. blah.

ChimneysTooNarrow · 15/12/2010 14:47

No, that is the rest of my family in your area, we were the breakaways!

Gabe's sleep has regressed a bit and I was gutted the first night. It was such a shock after a week of 4-5 hour stretches, I didn't handle it very well and was very grumpy. I think it is his bottom canines as we have the usual ezcema and nappy rash flare that heralds new teeth. So I have the unshaken belief that rubbish sleep is because he has really struggled with his teeth and once we get these last two done his sleep is going to get better and better

Ladyemmalemmadingdongbells · 15/12/2010 16:59

God, moving house is the single most stressful thing in the world. Too many people involved who have no idea how to communicate effectively with each other, even though that is their job!! I have a friend who used to be an estate agent and she even said that she wouldn't trust them!! She is currently renting! Could you keep getting onto your estate agents to gee everyone up a bit? That's what DH did when our move was taking ages due to incompetent solicitors and it worked a treat! He just rang them every single day for an 'update' and I think they got so fed up of it that they just sorted it out!! I hope that it all sorts itself out. It must be really Angry that they keep messing you about. I think also they think that they can do it with first time buyers as when you first do it you don't know the whole process (we've done it twice and I'm still non the wiser!!). I'm not sure why the single most expensive purchase you will ever make is run in this way and how they are allowed to get away with it. Does my head in!!

Got my fingers crossed for you that they pull their finger out and get it sorted. Is there no chance of completing on Friday now?

arudolf · 16/12/2010 17:46

she took the bait :o I would feel mean, but it's every single time someone writes something about one of their DC's achievements...

no chance of house ownership this week, so we're taking Oli to get his haircut properly on saturday (how PFB are we?!) Xmas Grin

Ladyemmalemmadingdongbells · 16/12/2010 17:59

Xmas Grin Xmas Grin I have been keeping an eye on your status!!! How old is her DD?

ps does bugger really mean digger in czech?!!

arudolf · 16/12/2010 18:04

1 week younger than oli, so 14 months. bagr is the czech for digger, but it is pronounced bugger - I used to get VERY confused going to the bugger pond in the town I lived in - it just meant the man made lake which was made using diggers. I have a very dirty mind so was often Shock Confused

HollyBerryLelloHoHo · 17/12/2010 09:53

Xmas Grin Xmas Grin 'bugger pond'

I think we need to see how many things we can get her to try and top trump you with. Competitive Parenting Bingo

arudolf · 17/12/2010 10:14

Xmas Grin I was going to say "are they meant to be watching family guy? we don't let Oli watch any television except The Weakest Link and Countdown"

but must rein in my bitchiness.

Just heard my grandmother is ill in hospital, so we may have to trek down to Frimley tomorrow. Better find out where the hell that is first Confused. hope she's ok, but bang goes oli's first haircut!! although if he headbutts me in the night one more time I'm going to bite his hair off Xmas Angry

ChimneysTooNarrow · 17/12/2010 10:31

Hope your grandmother is ok.

I've only just looked at your status and am wandering if it is too late for me to add 'Being bi-ligual is so important, which is why my better half* is only speaking latin to Gabriel at the moment. He will have such a good grounding that no language shoud be a problem. unus est tantum having a rideo risi risum'

Which translates badly to one is only having a laugh!

  • I would totally never use the phrase better half without massive huge amounts of irony and/or sarcasm

Gabe's sleep is rubbish again, he woke a lot last night and was completely hysterical when I didn't want to feed him constantly (it really hurts when I ovulate). My better half was spectacularly unhelpful and kept on marching into Gabe's room to bluster something pointless until I screamed at him to go back to bed and stay there. I am refraining from sending him a really arsey e-mail this morning but only because I want to ensure I get my usual friday krispy kreme doughnut treat!

peachygirl · 17/12/2010 17:35

Hi sorry to hear about the night time woes.
And I hope your gran is going to be OK

Nothing to report here really, just popping in.

HollyBerryLelloHoHo · 17/12/2010 18:17

arudolf I may patent that technique of cutting Xmas Grin

'Yes Mrs Blahdeblah, that would look lovely but if you want a really edgy look then it's all about the orthoshear method'

Sorry to hear about Grandmother - hope you don't get more travel woe this weekend.

Chutes I've been really missing BFing for the past couple of weeks and then your post about pain/ovulating brought it all flooding back!

Did you get your krispy kreme? Xmas Smile

ChimneysTooNarrow · 17/12/2010 19:06

I got my krispy kreme! One of the caramel ones, although my son insisted I share it with him Hmm

I can't flipping wait to stop breastfeeding, I am so fed up with it. At the very least I want it to be once/twice a day, not all fecking night. I am quite resigned that Gabe is enthusiastically in it for the long term and and even if he stops when I get pregnant, which I hope I will be next year, I will still be looking at a year or two feeding number 2

But it's a great excuse to eat lots of krispy kremes I guess Grin

arudolf · 19/12/2010 12:09

hi all, are you enjoying the snow? we're enjoying it much more than Oli is [evil laugh]. He did a fabulous faceplant in the snow just before lunch and has really taken against the stuff now! We got him to walk along the street by bribing him with chocolate buttons. He just fell asleep in his lunch, so is kipping now, giving DH and I a bit of peace and quiet! I'm not sure we'll be making it to the Czech Rep later in the week, so I'm making lists of food we need to buy to keep us going over christmas!

I'm fed up with bfing too Chimneys - I'm now refusing him feeds except once in the night, maybe one in the morning, one after work, and one before bed. The morning one is fairly infrequent. I wouldn't mind feeding him if he would keep still for it, but it's like having an octopus on stimulants thrashing about on my lab, fingers and toes being poked into me, my hair getting pulled, he pinches too. His latest trick is biting down hard occasionally which I do not like.

We didn't go down to see my grandma - but have spoken to her and got an ocado delivery of magazines and biscuits to her! she's ok, and better in hospital than at home alone in the snow. I think Surrey/Hampshire has quite a lot of snow, and she's in a wee village on the border of the two counties, and quite isolated. We're just waiting for her drugs to kick in now, before the hospital decides what to do with her.

right, better get lunch for myself (and DH if he's lucky) before we fall asleep in our chairs!!

peachygirl · 19/12/2010 13:02

Great snow here, Not as thick as the other week but a really good covering.

HollyBerryLelloHoHo · 20/12/2010 10:17

No snow in our village, and the area around is clearing up now - too close to the coast I think.

I would like the snow to just feck off so all my deliveries get through and we get to Liskeard, then it can come back for a couple of days while I sit in the hot tub and look out at it Xmas Grin

My brother and his girlfriend are staying at the moment so we've quite a houseful, but the boys love all the presents attention!

ChimneysTooNarrow · 20/12/2010 10:20

We have snow, woke up on Saturday morning to it, it was a bit of a shock. Gabe loved it this time, was merrily padding around in it. It's snowing again now and I am slightly fretting my food delivery won't make it and I will have to actually go to a supermarket (please, no).

arudolf · 20/12/2010 11:03

i'm 'working' from home again today, not risking the snowy and icy roads with a toddler. Got a load of emails from colleagues who are working from home today too.

thought you'd all appreciate the latest status from my friend with the incredibly gifted 3 yo - "Happy birthday DC2! Exactly a year ago, you were born and gave me the gift of a wonderful birth experience."

DH and I were both Xmas Shock and wondering whether to send it to STFU parents or not Xmas Grin

Ladyemmalemmadingdongbells · 20/12/2010 13:12

We have a little snow, but not too much. It hasn't snowed since Saturday, but it is around -8, so it is hanging around! Took the DCs sledging yesterday just round the fields. J wasn't too sure, but DD loved it and was begging for sledge races with her best friend!!

Chutes, I was thinking the same thing about my grocery shop, too! If it doesn't turn up on Wednesday, I will have to go out and do it on Wednesday evening as there is no way I'm taking 2 little ones to Asda 3 days before Christmas!! I'm going to do a little bit of late night shopping tonight, just to have a little time for myself really. Don't really have anything to get, expect may be a couple of wrap-ups for DH. Just want to feel festive and may be have a quite cuppa in M&S cafe!!

Feels so good to have handed in my assignments! Although, I lay awake last night worrying that I had referenced the wrong book in one of them!! Checked this morning and hadn't, so just worrying for nothing! Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

Can't believe that status, Arudolf!! Xmas Shock Xmas Grin It would never cross my mind to think of something like that, never mind post it on FB!! That would definitely give your other friend a run for her money!! Xmas Grin

Berry - A hot tub sounds like bliss!! I am very Xmas Envy . My friends have just had one installed. Think I know where I'll be most of next summer!! Xmas Grin

arudolf · 21/12/2010 10:46

looks like our flight is going, so we're off now - have a lovely christmas and new year/hogmanay everyone!

see you in 2011 (the year our babies turn 2! yikes!)

peachygirl · 21/12/2010 13:58

Well done ladyem on handing in those assignments.

Have a great trip arolf.

Things OK here we went to see the Bagpuss show in London. We all really enjoyed it and then to look at the christmas lights. DD1 was really well behaved. I had Zoe in the sling which was OK but she did get heavy. My back didn't hurt but my shoulders feel pulled. I've been thinking about getting a Patapum, similar to the beco which I know someone has, Sorry I'm really confused as to who is who on here and on facebook Blush
