So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

Wow those parasites are amazing. I need to sneakily ask DPs sciency sister what her favourite parasite is and get her one.

BerryLellow · 15/11/2010 21:47

:o at 'what's your favourite parasite?'

I think my mum might find the MRSA one amusing/horrifying (she works in a hospital)

I'm voting yes to including Oli's photo :)

kveta · 16/11/2010 09:59

don't joke barry - I remember heated debates at uni about which was the best/hardest/cutest parasite.

must get on with the talk - I planned to practice it last night, but a certain child decided to prat about until 10 pm. still, he slept until 5, so we got a few hours of uninteruppted sleep for a change!

oh yes, and I just found out my friend and his wife are expecting their first baby, they've had problems before (mc, ectopic). I'm so excited for them!!

BerryLellow · 16/11/2010 10:29

How lovely for them, I had a little weep when my friend told me about her IVF twins! It's always nice to hear a baby is on the way but when it's been a hard fight to get there it's even more joyful :)

Promise not to joke ANYMORE about parasites, it's Very Serious Business. DP would think I've finally lost it if I produce a couple of amoebas for J and Mads at Christmas. I'm going to bookmark that site for future purposes though ;)

Chutes, I meant to ask, wtf is a mad men style whisky glass? I know, it would help if I watched the programme....

ChutesTooNarrow · 16/11/2010 10:47

Urgh, am currently trawling the internet for them. Like this. I might get those ones, but I don't really want six though. Don't have room to store six when only one is ever going to get used.

It is horrible weather here today, there is a blanket of thick white mist over the house.
I can't see the houses opposite us, it is so eerie.

kveta · 16/11/2010 15:00

well I included the pic of oli, and said "to finish, here's a picture of a parasite playing with his toys"
I've no idea if anyone laughed as my hearing hasn't come back yet. In fact I've no idea if anyone asked any questions either. Confused all in all, it went well :o

Ladyem · 16/11/2010 15:36

Grin Well done, Kveta!! I was showing DH that website last night and he was trying to think who he could buy them for!! He wanted me to buy my Mum MRSA as she won't go into hospital for a much needed hip replacement because she is convinced she will get MRSA while she is in there. Hmm

Have we all heard about the Royal engagement? Already threads on here slagging off Kate Middleton. Hmm MN winds me up sometimes!! I must learn to not click on these threads.

Another sunny day here today. Much nicer than the biblical-style rain we had last week! Grin

ChutesTooNarrow · 16/11/2010 15:57

See, I just plain don't care about the royal family but I agree it's nasty to slag Kate off. She is just a young woman getting married!

Anyone done the 30 day shred work out? I want to lose some weight, I can't get away with the 'I've just had a baby' excuse anymore. I just did the first work out and am huffing on the couch. Gabriel thought it was hilarious and ran around me, span in circles, tried to jump and is now incredibly wound up. I think I will try it without him in the room in future. I was thinking of doing it during his morning nap but this depends on him actually sleeping in his room and then lasting more than his usual ten minutes Hmm

I need a new bra though, had to hold onto my boobs during the star jumps Blush

Glad your presentation went well kveta.

OP posts:
Ladyem · 16/11/2010 16:31

TBH I don't usually give the royals much thought, but I am a sucker for a wedding!! Grin

What is the 30 day shred? I'm supposed to be a member of the gym now, but I have already started making excuses not to go!! Blush I should really go tonight but I ached so much after the induction I have only just got rid of the aches in my arms!! Grin

Got a very grumpy baby today. Getting on my wick to be honest! Think he might be having a growth spurt as he has been eating really big meals which is very unlike him. This lunch time he practically inhaled his sandwich plus a yoghurt and grapes. I thought he would pop after all that! Might have to introduce snacks as we don't really do them as he is usually asleep at that sort of time. I suppose now he's walking he will be building up more of an appetite.

bigbang · 16/11/2010 16:47

Hello all!

I love those parasite toys, they are brilliant. Who knew disease could be so cute.

Dd said her first non-name word yesterday, cat. It was very cute she was very pleased with herself. We now have mama, dada, ds's name and cat. We don't actually have a cat mind, it was just from a book! Her sleeping is getting no better, she wakes and cries and won't settle unless breast feeding, so was attached from 6-8 this morning, not what I had in mind at all so I'm feeling a bit bleh today. Ds was so much better at routine than she is

Dp is very hard to buy for. It's his birthday today and I got him coffee stuff (a clicking tampering mat Hmm) as he is a coffee ponce, am now stumped for christmas. Not helped by the fact that I am now at the very end of my pre-Uni savings so I have very little money of my own left. I can't exactly ask him to pay for his own present! He really doesn't want much as all the stuff he wants he buys for himself as it's all complicated computer bits. Maybe I will get concert/play tickets if something good is on. That's what I did last year though!

Glad your presentation went well kveta!

I'm also very meh about the royal family.

I did the 30 day shred Chutes, er well, about 6 days of it Blush. It was a great kick start for me. My ds loved getting in the way joining in. Dd even got trampled on had a go.

We went to visit the local school today as we are applying for ds's place for next year. It was lovely and exactly what we want for him, fingers crossed he gets a place there! Oh god why do they grow so fast.

ChutesTooNarrow · 17/11/2010 19:09

This ladyem. Its three 20 minutes intensive work-outs that you do one of daily and is supposed to be better than an hour or two at the gym. I'm a bit achy after another go at it today and I'm not really giving it my all, nor am I using weights yet. I lay on my back to do some crunches during it and Gabe flopped onto my stomach so he could watch it on telly! Very cute and I ended up using him as a weight which he loved.

DS sleeping routine sound similar bigbang, sympathies. I am so sick of feeding him continuously through the night and want to nightwean him. He will settle if DP sleeps in with him but he still wakes a lot, there is a lot of tears and I still have to go in around two and feed him as he is hysterical Sad

Ladyem · 17/11/2010 22:17

Sounds like hard work to me, Chutes!! Grin

I still haven't been to the gym and it is nearly a week since the induction. I'm now using the defence that I have a cold, so need to rest!

Rubbish trip to Ikea today. Forgotten how much I despise that place. Only wanted a picture frame as I can't get the size anywhere else for under £70 and it was about £20 there, but I eventually found my way out of the maze of sofas and home office furniture feeling very hot and bothered. Bloomin' picture had better fit that frame now!

On a plus note, we've have had a full day without any tantrums from DD! Smile So nice to not have to listen to her shouts over nothing. Long may it continue! Just need to sort out Mummy's Boy now and we'll be fine and dandy!

BerryLellow · 18/11/2010 08:59

See I adore wasting time in Ikea, probably because I go once in a blue moon and the nearest one is 100s of miles away :)

I went to Pilates last night and it was haaaaard I don't think it helps that my stomach muscles went into hiding after my first pregnancy. Might look into this shredding malarkey!

We seem to have gone back to early starts here Mads has taken to getting up by 6am and sitting in our bed alternately clapping DP and I around the head until someone relents and takes him down for breakfast Hmm

Very excited, it's only a week until my weekend escape to London :o

Ladyem · 18/11/2010 09:53

The Ikea in Bristol that I used to go to never seemed so bad, but my nearest one now is 6 floors and it feels like you can't escape!!!

Have finally managed to get DH to have a couple of day off so that we can paint our bedroom. It hasn't been done since we moved in and is an awful blue/yellow combination that the previous owners must have decided on after watching 'Changing Rooms'! Grin It also has lovely textured paint on 2 walls which we have to get off somehow, so it should be an interesting weekend!

BerryLellow · 18/11/2010 10:29

Bleurgh to the yellow and blue, there was a lot of that around in the 90's wasn't there? Along with the godawful sun and moon type stuff. (Apologies to anyone I may have insulted!)

It's the Bristol one that I go to Ladyem, the only other one I've ever ventured inside was Cardiff and it seemed all wrong :) I am a sucker for a bit of Ikea though, can spend ages in the market place bit buying yet more 'unnecessary crap' (someone else's words!) I'm very fond of my glass cake dome thing :o

Well it's just absolutely peed down here, keep your fingers crossed for us that we don't end up floating like the St Austell residents!

Wonder how April is getting on at her scan?

Ladyem · 18/11/2010 11:14

Haha! My sister used to have all that moon and sun stuff!! And being my big sister declared that I had to have different to her, so in my room I had a navy blue and white nautical theme complete with boarder round the tops of the walls! (Why did I choose that?!! I suppose it one a tad better than the yellow and grey theme I'd had before!!) Grin

I used to go to the Bristol one quite a bit and it seemed much easier than the one I have to go to in Coventry now. I used to like buying kitchen gadgets in the market place and was tempted by some plates yesterday as I wizzed by, but was so flustered after climbing the stairs to the 6th floor and then rushing round the floors trying to find my Step Mum who had J in the buggy with her, that I couldn't be bothered!! I'd lost the will to shop. It must have been bad!! Grin

Hope that the rain holds off for you! Has it flooded at where you are before?

Hope April's scan is going well!

AprilMeadow · 18/11/2010 16:01

Woo its a BOY!!!!

kveta · 18/11/2010 16:27

congratulations april!! :)

ChutesTooNarrow · 18/11/2010 17:31

Grin april!

OP posts:
Ladyem · 18/11/2010 18:25

Excellent news! Grin Are you telling people your chosen name or keeping it secret until the birth?

AprilMeadow · 18/11/2010 19:15

Some people know and the FB crew I am letting guess :)

We have chosen Finn :)

BerryLellow · 18/11/2010 19:48

:o lovely - Congratulations again April!

BerryLellow · 18/11/2010 20:01

ooh look Bear

Ladyem · 18/11/2010 20:55

Ahhh, that's a lovely name! Smile The picture was very clear, too! You must be getting very excited now that you are over half way!

How did you do that bear thingy, Berry?

DH has gone out tonight, so I am in alone with a pizza and 'friends' on E4!! Should really do some uni work, but have been on the phone to my Mum for over an hour and now just fancy a nice bath and bed! Grin Have DDs cold so am sneezing continuously. Nice!
