Hi Ladies,

I hope you don't mind, I started a new thread as our first one was quite full! I can't believe we're a quarter-way through the first year already! Smile

pamelat

Hi sorry you're having such a rough time and hope alex feels better soon. Do whatever it takes to get through. I remember when ds was 3 and dd1 was about Molls age and I used to go out sometimes just to get a change of scene (and there was a very nice ice cream shop nearby - which was great until I developed gallstones!!). But wine and chinese sounds great. Hope the weekend is as calm as possible.

first1 thinking about you

and you den26 - i'm glad the team are looking after you. Where is Rian having his op? I used to live in Highlands and one of the big downsides is the distance you sometimes have to travel for medical care.

ml I started solids with ds at 12 weeks. can't imagine Molly on solids. Weird how things change!

cupcake and wltk I haven't taken anywhere near enough photos this time.

Love the phrase "boobs taken hostage" cupcake :o

hi hollyoaks understand how weird that must have felt but grace sounds happy which is great

wltk fair play re bf counselling. Good on you.

Got to dash as sky+ copy of waybuloo has finished. Bad mummy using cbeebies for a break already!!!

Den26 · 20/08/2010 20:42

Hey molly, op will be in glasgow southern general, one bed is available for a parent to stay (me :) ) so DP will need to stay in hotel or something although no visiting restrictions for parents thank god.

WLTK - well done re BFC you are an expert now and very good advocate!!

First - hope today went well :)

homebirthmummy4 · 20/08/2010 20:56

Den is there a ronald mcdonald house at glascow, their website is something like rmhc. They are wonderful and meant for parents just like you and dp. We would have been distraught without it when virginia was in scbu.do please check it out as it will remove one stress and a lot of expense.

itshappenedagain · 20/08/2010 23:05

hello all! im away for a week and you have a new thread!

Den- hopefully all goes well and im so glad that they dont have any visisting restriction on parents.

WLTK-i think you will make a fab breastfeeding councilor...especially after all you have been through.

Pamela- have you tried gaviscon...florence started pulling off the boob and crying againso gave gaviscon and seem to have stopped it...think the teething makes them very windy, drooly and generally upset digestion wise...i hate green poo! Florence is currently cutting tooth number 5.

Molly and Ml- im going with baby led weening this time alothough i was meant to have a weening visit last week Shock apparently to stop you from doing it early. this from the woman who told me i had caused my son gasteroenteritis and would make him fat as i had started weening at 24 weeks not 6 months Hmm she is a health visitors assistant...she was told in no uncertain terms that its a viral infection and that she was no longer welcome in my home.

on the topic of photos i take one every friday and will do for the first year i did the same for my Ds. i take one a month after then i have so far managed to remember!
talking of remebering...where are you all getting Fenugrek from? is it a supplement or capsule?

well all is starting to calm down here and we have a sort of evening routine, she usually settles from 7ish till about 11 then has a feed and sleeps til 5 but last night she woke at about 130 am freezing as she had kicked all the covers off and then didnt wake again till 9am so i got a sleep in as Ds slept till 830ish when he was woken by the thunder. we are meant to be going to snowdonia with family tomorrow but will see what the wether is like. anyway am now off to bed with another book...if someone had said at 26 i would have 2 kids and be in bed by 11pm on a friday night id have said they had the wrong person...how things change but i wouldnt have it any differnt!

itshappenedagain · 20/08/2010 23:07

oh and i have new neigbours as of 9 pm and they are sooooo noisy they keep stomping about and slamming doors im tempted to go and knock now cause im getting abit pissed off with it already!

wouldliketoknow · 20/08/2010 23:16

itshapp, i wouldn't welcome that woman in my home either, i actually told one of the midwives either she is helpful or not judgemental or find someone to do your shift, i won't tolerate stupidity. next time she came was really nice, i think you should call the hv and ask someone else to come, you shouldn't lose your visits, just because she cannot do her job properly.
your pictures schedules sounds really good, i just take pictures and chose the better ones and put them in order with comments in the album, but at this rate the album is not going to last much longer.

thank you all for encouragement, i will train for bf counsellor, see what happens.

i am having my computer kidnapped, needs some tlc, so gotta go.

mollycuddles · 21/08/2010 05:55

Morning all. Am attempting a few personals on my iPhone during another mega Molly feed. I reckon it's the 12w growth spurt but dh thinks it's no different from any other week. I went to visit my friend and her 2wk baby yesterday and Molly fed more often while I was there than the wee one. My friend is struggling with bf. Wish I knew more so I could help her more. I have looked into bf courses but no such thing exists for a gp. Not that I see a lot of new mums during the critical time anyway. I bought the fenugreek at a local health food shop but you can get it online. One thing to inform you of about fenugreek is that it lowers blood sugar. I was feeling a bit woozy 2 days ago and my sugar was only 3.7. Usually between 5 and 7. Dh is thinking of taking it for his diabetes so we'll both stink of curry. Did I mention that before? Am losing touch with reality (again)

den26 - a friend of mine from Elgin stayed in rmcd house recently when her wee ds had an op. But a hotel might be a nicer bolt hole for you to escape to. How long are you likely to have to be in Glasgow?

tomlin my dh also has big feet and long toes. So do all three dcs. Although they all have my shaped little toes. Genetics is amazing!

Hi itshappenedagain. Yeah to lie ins. Boo to noisy neighbours.

Hope Saturday is a good day for toddlers pamelat heffa and millingtonsmummy

Love the sitting up pics pigley and the impression kits sound lovely. Sounds like baby schipo isn't far behind!

Good luck with teething/drooling etc Rachel dancing and pamelat

Welcome back mooseymoo

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 21/08/2010 09:07

Itshappenedagain - hope your neighbours quieten down :) HV assistant sounds awful, not surprised you banned her.

Mollycuddles - sounds like a bit of a growth spurt. Surprised that there's no BF course for GPs but I guess not many new mums would go to a GP. I think LLL run peer supporter ones.

Pamelat - best wishes for another good day today. Hope Alex feels better soon.

Hollyoaks - I hope Grace is OK.

First1 - thinking of you.

It's my DNiece's 11th birthday today so we're off to celebrate. Can't believe she's 11 already, seems like yesterday she was born. She's off to secondary school soon and it makes me feel old (was in secondary school myself when she was born).

pigleychez · 21/08/2010 09:28

Morning all

Lucy slept 8-5 last night, was awake till 6am then slept again to 9!

DH got up with DD so I got a lay in! Grin

Hundreds of photos here too of course. I did some shots of a friends toddler yesterday. Sooo much harder with a toddler as they are so active! Managed to get a few good shots though.

Pamlet- Hope Alex is happier soon and that it is just his teeth.

Happened-Hope you get your day out. Know what you mean about the nights out. I see friends photos on FB that are out every weekend having wild nights and think what a difference but like you say.... I would change it for the world. A friend the other day did say she was abit jealous of me really as I was happy and settled with my little family, where as shes still single and living at home!
Angry at the new neighbours!

Tooth number 5! Wow Shock If DD1 is anything to go by im not expecting Lucy's first tooth for a long time yet! ie 14mths!!

Miserable rainy day here so nothing really planned. Maybe I should start on printing out the photos for the girls Baby books.

AnAngelWithin · 21/08/2010 13:49

Hello all.

Rainy day here! Day is going really badly, even though dd3 slept 8.30 last night til 6am!! The kids are bored and fighting, too wet to do anything outside. DD3 won't stop crying and has got red spots on her tummy which is suspect is the start of chicken pox. Hmm (D)H is trying to help and sort things but I am finding it so hard.

Had dd3s appointment through this morning to see the consultant....THIS tuesday!!! Then also had an appointment sent for another ultrasound but at a bone specialist hospital.

Better go, she's awake and screaming....again...

first1 · 21/08/2010 14:42

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for all your good luck messages, they all really meant so much to me. Had my op at 8am yesterday and was back home after 12hours. The consultant and anaesthetist both said it went brilliantly. It did cost the earth but the care I got was amazing from everyone I met from the moment I arrived. What a difference private medicine is to the NHS. Feeling very sore now as to be expected but staying with my parents so Chloe can be looked after whilst I get back on my feet. The consultant fitted a mirena for me during the op to help with my erratic periods (have had 5 in 8weeks!) so looking forward to that starting to work. Sorry for no personals, gonna get my head down x

kateyjane · 21/08/2010 14:59

Really glad it went well first1.Take care of yourself and get lots of rest.

wibblela · 21/08/2010 16:07

first1 really pleased you got amazing care Smile Sounds good that you were going to get your head down

pamelat · 21/08/2010 17:15

Well done *first8 Smile

Alex woke 2 hourly last night, went to bed 6pm, woke 830/1030/12/2/4 and up at 5 Sad was fairly hard but he now seems a lot happier. Poo back to normal and he has slept well today, probably because of being up all night Grin

DD has been difficult again but DH been around so do-able and at least he gets to see how hard it can be so he is being extra nice Smile says he is shattered!!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 21/08/2010 20:14

First1 - so happy for you that it's gone OK. Best wishes for recovery, hope you get a good long sleep :)

Pamelat - glad that Alex is better today, hope you have a better night tonight.

Angel - I guess it's good you've got an appointment so quickly? Sounds like you're having a really tough time :( Hope DD3 is OK.

Newmomma - hope you're OK.

kateyjane · 21/08/2010 23:54

Pamelat, also glad alex is better today.

Well I'm on my way to Edinburgh tomorrow morning. My mum and dad had gone up for a long weekend, to the theatre and other things whilst the festival is on. My mum is really ill and in the hospital up there. Sorry for the me post, but my mum is everything to me. My dad is going to pieces and I'm going up to be there for them (and me) Leaving all the Dc including Tom with my Dh, can't imagine how he's going to cope with them all. He's never been with all the Dc on his own. I suppose it's good in a way for him. Feel terrified - so sorry for the me post. I hope everyone is okay and doing well xxxxxxxx

mollycuddles · 22/08/2010 04:06

Hi kateyjane thinking of you at such a stressful time. Hope your mum gets better soon. I'm sure your dh will cope with the dcs but it'll be a bit of a baptism of fire. I'm sure he'll appreciate you all the more when you get home.

Glad things went well first1

Hope your weekend continues to go well pamelat

Am exhausted with 24hr cluster feeding. Doubting myself and the bf. Worried the fenugreek is upsetting her but scared to stop as otherwise I'll have less milk. Is my 14th wedding anniversary today. By this weekend's standards I'll be lucky to even manage to eat dinner as she's superglued to me. Nipples feel like it's early days all over again. Have had to start using lansinoh again. Aaarrgggh!

homebirthmummy4 · 22/08/2010 09:15

Molly I have heard that milkthistle does the same job as fenugreek but not tried it myself.

First1 very impressed at you and your care. Hope you continue to make progress

Kateyjane, was your mum ill before she went to edinburgh or has it happened suddenly? I do hope she is ok

Virginia learnt how to do big splashes yesterday and insisted on a half hour bath!

My older girls are spending their last night in cornwall tonight, in a much loved 10 year old tent, have you seen the weather forecast????

pamelat · 22/08/2010 10:02

Katejane, hope your mum is ok Sad has it all happened suddenly?

Re feeding, have changed 10am one to a bottle. He was shouting too much, pulling off, scratching me and generally getting angry. Oh well, feel fine about it. Still doing 4 breast feeds a day.

wouldliketoknow · 22/08/2010 11:10

first, glad you're ok, have a rest while you recover, good that you have help with chloe
katey, how terrible, i think you are doing the right thing, i am sure dh will be alright, and as molly says he will have a whole new level of appreciation for what you do, hope your mum gets well soon
molly we also had a couple of days sofa bound, sure is ok, if molly is well, nappy produced and gaining weight you're fine, congrats on the 14th anniversary, that's fab!
pam keep the good days coming... oscar is also pulling a lot after only 10 or 15 min and is a struggle to do a long feed, may it be that they are getting better at extract milk and they are ready a lot earlier than we think?, still 4 breast feeds are really good
hb4 impressed with the splasshes...

we are fine, the only thing, oscar has decided to change our sleeping pattern, to from 12.30am to 9.30am, fine with me, but on monday we'll have to go to baby class and i need to be ready to go at 9.45, including feeding and dressing us both...Confused
yesterday no bottles till 7 pm! and only 2, no extra tiny bit...

Den26 · 22/08/2010 16:51

hey all,

homebirth & Molly - looked at ronald macdonald website, looks good, thanks - will contact them once we know a date. consultant said should be in for around a week if no complications.

Molly - i have done alittle reading on fenugreek, could be wrong but i think you can stop taking fenugreek once supply has increased but if you take milkthistle you have to keep taking it

Angel - good luck with consultant on tues

First - glad youre home and able to get some rest - speedy recovery :)

Kateyjane - hope your mum is ok, DH will be fine :)

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 22/08/2010 20:10

Kateyjane - hope you're OK, that must be terrifying :( Thinking of you, sure your DH will be fine.

Mollycuddles - congratulations on the anniversary, hope Molly gives you a break soon.

pamelat · 23/08/2010 10:02

all, rightly or wrongly have made decision to stop breast feeding, droppinf feed a day so by 4 months will be fully formula. feel tiny bit of guilt as it never hurt me but dd stil angry about me feedig and very dificult in piblic with 2, and alex prefers bottle anyway.

also waking 2 hourly a night which is killing me

dont know why feel need to justify myself but i do Sad but feel positive re decision

practically, any advice for stopping? anything i can take/do?

Carikube · 23/08/2010 10:24

Kateyjane - hope your mum is ok and that you are also ok. Sure your DH will be fine so try not to worry so that you can focus on your mum instead.

first glad it all went well and wishing you a speedy recovery

pamelat no need to justify yourself at all! You have to do what works best for you and it's not like you haven't given it a good go, is it? On a practical level, I dried up relatively quickly when I stopped bf DD1 (though that might have been a sign of not having a great supply which might be why it didn't work so well Confused). I pumped a few times a day so she could at least have the benefit right up to the end and the amount I got out dramatically reduced each day and it was all gone within a week iirc. Probably not much help given that you've got dd as well so pumping might not be practical for you.

Back to real life for us here as DH is back at work after his two weeks off. Spent yesterday sorting out all the clothes we have, trying to get them in to some sort of order - with such a small gap between the 2 DDs we never really put any of DD1's clothes away properly as we knew we'd be getting them out again soon. DH has put all of DD2's 0-3 month clothes up in the loft; I did make another comment about did we want to get rid of them completely but he's said to hold on to them for now so I suppose DC3 is still a possibility. I've started to get pangs for going back to work though so I don't know any more what I'm going to do - if I want to keep the job I have (fantastic employer, great pay & benefits etc etc) then DC3 would have to wait a while in which I'd probably then be getting too old and DH would be over 50...decisions, decisions...

homebirthmummy4 · 23/08/2010 11:46

Carikube. I don't know how old you are. But I had a 12 year gap between dd3 and dd4. I am 37 and dh is 50 in a few weeks. He is tired but definately more youthful with baby.
I am not yet ruling out another but I am enjoying this baby so much I may wait until she is 3 before I properly think about that.
We still haven't outgrown ANY of our clothes!
