PatTheHammer · 14/08/2010 22:01

Hey, this has just disappeared off my threads so gettin back on so I can keep up with all your news.

Hope everyone keeping well, Tea: I can imagine how difficult it is with nobody to sound off agains after they are in bedSad. Chin up though, you are doing a grand job!

Tree- sorry to hear about the croup, hope its getting better.

Tink- hols sound fab

Dog- What a lovely bump! And bless I on the trampoline (see I have just about been keeping up on FBWink)

Hey to books, MissJ, 120 and everyone else.

Well, not saying much in case of this thread being 'watched' IYSWIM but DH still living at friends house but we are working on things. Had a 'date' night tonight, with mixed results, I'm a little drunk which could be a good thing I suppose!
I am knackered from having the DC's pretty much 24/7 for the last few weeks but he is coming back in evenings and spending some time with them, giving them baths etc so that gives me a kind of break and he had DS overnight last night to give me a break. Think we are in for the long-haul with this one, our next counselling session not till 1st Sept so nothing positive/negative to report really, we are just ploughing on and time will tell I guess.

Just incredibly busy at the moment, I empathise Lenni and I am meant to be on my holidays! God only knows how I am meant to fit work in when that reappears on the horizon!

tinktellyaddict · 15/08/2010 09:12

tea - it must be hard!!

hi miss j Grin

pat - poor u relationships can be so hard sometimes good luck

i am having a chillaxing day today Grin

moosemama · 15/08/2010 11:11

Morning all am back.

I did try to read the thread, but got hopelessly left behind.

Pat, I did read about your Mum and am so sorry. Hope she is comfortable and your testing comes back negative. Also sorry to hear of continuing troubles for you and DH. I'm sorry I don't have any helpful advice, hope you are doing ok though, you have such a lot to deal with at the moment. ((hugs))

Mixed holiday, which I won't bore you with the details of, but beautiful sunny weather most of the time, so am now a mix of tan and burned bits. Hmm Well, except for my legs as I had to wear long wide-leg trousers on the beach to stop sand getting into the valves on my cast.

Have only been wearing the cast out and about, so am now cast free around the house and in bed. Am going to try going out without it - just using the crutch, this week if I can find a pair of shoes that I can comfortably wear. It has been very painful getting the ligaments etc to work, but is getting better slowly.

Am beyond knackered today, we decided to to a long leisurely drive back from Pembroke Dock yesterday taking in a few stops - made the journey very long and we are all very overtired this morning. (Well everyone except dd who slept through most of the journey.)

Was lovely to see her face when we got back, she was so happy to be home. She had a ball while we were away with lots of freedom in a huge house with family kitchen/dining/living room for her to run around in, but her delight at being back on her own sofa last night was plain to see, as she kept snuggling into the cushions and saying 'happy' and 'nice'. (grin)

We have had to make some tough decisions while we were away and are going to be on a very tight budget for ever a very long time.

Also ... er ... how to put this? We might have had a bit too much red wine and then a slight ... er ... mistake which will require a certain test be carried out by the end of the month. Blush Am just off to order some tests now actually as have been feeling oddly crampy and quite nauseaus for the past couple of days. Shock

Am really hoping not as we are seriously broke, can hardly cope with the three we already have and short of the bottom draw of the chest-of-drawers there's nowhere to put another one in our house! [Moose's head is firmly in the sand emoticon]

tinktellyaddict · 15/08/2010 11:26

good 2 have u back mm
glad that foot on the mend Grin
Wink @ mistake

shame about money worries

moosemama · 15/08/2010 12:40

Hi Tink. Am very Blush about the mistake, we really should know better at our age (and head count Grin). Its only a very slim outside chance though, so fingers crossed we have nothing to stress about.

Just been watching dd and boy has she grown since we went away. She's finding it so much easier to climb up onto the bench seat to look out the window Hmm. I thought she must have grown when I got her ready for bed last night and the pjs that were far too big for her just before we went away, fitted perfectly. Typical, she's going into the next clothes size up (of which we have pratically nothing) and we are brassic. Hmm

teaandcakeplease · 15/08/2010 15:56

If we lived closer Moose I have a big bag of age 2-3 clothes for girls I was planning to freecycle. However as she is a diddy girl she is probably no where near that yet.

Wink about mistake from me too.

Glad to have you back. You've been missed x

moosemama · 15/08/2010 17:44

Hi Tea have missed all of you too. Smile

Yes, I think it will me some time before she's into age 2-3 clothes - thanks for thinking of us though. Just went through the back of her wardrobe and found lots of clothes people bought for her birthday, all of which are not the next size up, but the size after that. She is just into Mothercare 9-12 months clothes (although their sleepsuits are still massive on her).

Typical post holiday unpacking chaos here today - I hate this bit.

Have had a total wobbly about my wedding outfit for next weekend. Bought a basic pair of pewter gladiators on holiday for five Euro, tried the on with the dress this morning and decided I definitely don't like the shoes (neither does dh) and I'm not happy with the way the dress sits over my chest. Its fine for family parties etc, but am not happy with it for a wedding where I don't know anyone and am seriously lacking in confidence already.

So, have decided to go to plan b and wear my Monsoon silk maxi dress instead. Unfortunately whilst on holiday I had a panic and spent ££s we didn't have buying make-up and nail varnish to match the first dress so now I need to buy shoes and bag to match the Monsoon dress as well. Need antiquey gold to tie in with the small amount of embroidery around the neckline and hem. The dress is a gorgeous green silk with some very dark (almost black). I have also been looking at spanx today as its quite slim fitting column style dress and I fear my bum and tum aren't up to it iyswim.

120 · 15/08/2010 21:25

bookmarking. we've done up the flat ready to sell in a week! Hopefully estate agents and evaluation tomorrow.. hope all well. Dog, thinking of you, will get biscuit recipe out asap..

teaandcakeplease · 15/08/2010 21:40

120 - exciting stuff on selling, how long did it take you to smarten your place up? That has always been my biggest fear of selling.

Moose - I'm starting to wonder what's wrong with me as I've never worried much about wedding outfits and have just pulled something out of the wardrobe Shock Blush I remember the dress you've chosen instead, as you've mentioned it before, it is lovely. I think you will look fabulous on the day - well and truly. You could always post in the style and beauty section for some suggestions on accessories and web links? They seem very good at that sort of thing on there. My advice is to try not to worry, you will look lovely on the day, of that I am sure!

120 · 15/08/2010 22:09

lol tea, I'm with you on the pulling stuff out of the wardrobe. I have a smartish trouser suit and a black and white spotty dress that do all events. All that changes is the hat and footwear. Until I'm thinner at least.

It's literally been a week. We started last Sunday and the valuations will start tomorrow. We got PILs to take kids out for four days. One day clearance, two days painting and 1/2 day carpets. Further cleaning and clearing continues but the brunt of the effort is done.

missjackson · 16/08/2010 08:20

Wow, 120 way to go... bet it looks gorgeous - a new coat of paint and clean carpets makes all the difference. Hope you get megabucks valuation!

I'm with the 'decide on the day' approach to weddings too. Always think no-one really notices anyway, all eyes are on the bride after all! But moosey I am sure you will look fantastic - the most important thing is to feel comfortable and enjoy yourself, have a lovely day out with DH.

pat good to hear from you, I've been thinking about you. Sept is not far off and that's great that you've been 'dating'. Really have my fingers crossed for you both. You do hear of couples who go to the brink and come back from it stronger than ever. At the same time, it's got to be right for you, not just stuck at no matter what. These things can be a long process though, whichever way it goes. Looking forwards to seeing you soon!

tea your baking day sounded lovely. How often does H have the DCs? I was just thinking does he give you a proper break?

tinktellyaddict · 16/08/2010 08:58

morning Grin

mm - agree bet u will look gorgeous Grin

well done 120 good luck

hi miss j

teaandcakeplease · 16/08/2010 09:11

My H has always found it difficult looking after the DCs, even when we only had one. I had get very very stressed about everything and I'd come back with him practically pulling his hair out. LOL IT's even worse now we have 2 DCs close together and the associated chaos that goes with them. So I rarely leave him with them longer than 2 hours maximum. He comes here to look after them as it's heavily child proofed. I'm sure once they get bigger and easier he'll cope with them better. For now I'm happy with this strange status quo we have, perhaps it's as I'm a control freak and like the fact he looks after them here Wink not elsewhere. One day he may get married again and then I may have to let him have them for a weekend every fortnight which would be horrid. Not looking forward to that at all Sad

teaandcakeplease · 16/08/2010 09:12

Sorry typos

I had = he

Not sure how I did that one...

Tea and 120, I wish I could be more like you two, but unfortunately there are three problems with your approach where I'm concerned.

  1. I don't own anything even remotely suitable for going out - let alone to a wedding - except the dress I am now going to wear and I only own that as the result of an ebay impulse buy and I don't have any shoes or jewellery, or make-up to go with that.
  1. I am at such an all time low in terms of self-confidence, particularly relating to my body image and wrinkles etc (mid-life crisis I guess) that I really just want to stay in the house with a bag on my head so no-one sees me at the moment and
  1. I won't know a soul at the wedding (which is a big posh affair at a very trendy boutique hotel) except the bride and groom and I've only met the bride twice. The sensible part of me agrees with MissJ and has said several times over the past couple of weeks that no-one will even notice me so it really doesn't matter. Unfortunately the paranoid part of me can't help fretting about what they might think if they do. Bloody stupid at my age I know, but I can't help it - I need to get out more. Grin Blush

I've actually calmed down about it all now. Bought a pair of glitzy toe-posty shoes and some suck it in undies online yesterday and Mum has lent me some jewellery so I think I will at least be passable. To be honest I think if anyone does notice me it will be because I am walking with a crutch rather than anything else.

120, sounds like you are doing really well with the flat. Can you fling some of your motivation and energy my way, we really need to sort this place out - a top to bottom overhaul is required methinks. Come to think of it that applies to both the house and me! Grin

MissJ, I waved at you when we were in your general area on Saturday. We stopped in Hay-on-Wye for chips at 8 pm on the way home.

Books, great to hear from you. I realised while we were driving to the ferry that I hadn't heard from you in a while and then I started to worry that you might have a problem or need a friendly ear. Kept meaning to text you, but it was so hectic I never got around to it. I was so pleased when I got back and saw that it was just that you have been away as well.

Think we will be ok re dd's clothes. I will just have work it into the new budget and make sure I stick to the figure we decide on.

Dog hope you are well...I am starting to mildly anic at having three under four come January....tell me it will be fine! Has your birth pool arrived?

MissJ Congrats on the job, v exciting. Did you get a scan? How was it?

Pat, glad you are hanging in there.

Moose Glad hols went ok, enjoy the wedding...have no advice ie what to wear, I come from the 120 ad Tea school of grabbing something out of the wardrobe... have a few god wedding outfits, but am bored to tears of them as they have been recycled a hundred times and the last few years have been to scary amount of weddings!

Lenni, you sound super busy, hope you are gettng a chance to relax at some point. Good luck with your funding bids. I am drowning in my active research essay and so behind, have extension til oct.

Tree, any eggy news? Hope H 's foot is bearing up.

Books hope DD is ok and recovering from her croup.

hello to stripey and tink ad the rest of the gang...

Am in the french countryside south of Toulouse, had a lovely few days in the foothills of pyranees andnow staying in georgous ramshackle house in a tiny village. Totally peaceful and lovely. Kids are loving the trampoline (gives me a heartattack watching J on it) and pool. Baby is kicking away in my tummy, nearly 20 weeks now. Friends have said we can live here rent free next year if we'd like while we decide what to do and in return do some work on the house fo rthem.... would love to spend my maternity leave down here....so much to think about. J is chattering too, am amazed at how much he can understand and communicate, don't think I realised DD understood so much when she was his age...computer about ot die...

120 · 16/08/2010 18:37

thanks everyone. i'm afraid not much time to do more than skim read at the mo - will catch up properly later. HZ I'm around all week if you want to meet up.

120 · 16/08/2010 18:52

dog, will do the biscuits for you tonight. my disclaimer is that they do absolutely nothing for losing weight as they are so moreish.

hackneyzoo · 16/08/2010 19:41

Hey 120, not back until 26th, but would love to catch up that week (back to work on 3rd) Haven't seen you in ages...while I think of it am going to do a big french supermarket shop for stuff to bring back to the uk (coffee, olive oil etc ) so if there is anything you'd like let me know...

treedelivery · 16/08/2010 19:48

Hi all.

No time, so will read properly later.
Welcome back moose, and nice to see you HKZ.

Hmmmmm biscuits. Everyone still up, and we have a playrooma nd house to tidy. Before we can start cleaning Hmm

moosemama · 16/08/2010 19:57

Tree me ol' mucker - how the devil are you?

Have missed you while I've been away. Smile

treedelivery · 16/08/2010 20:33

Helloooo Moose.

Am good ta. You know, same old same old.

Playroom stlla smelly empty dusty room. Have managed a few coats of undercoat and that's it. Have booked a friend to come and paint it tomorrow. He's a sort of handy man type person. Probably cost me a weeks living money, but it needs doing.

Have decided against the Cath Kidston tiles. Sob. Now gettng B&Q carpet tiles. Which sound cheap but are in fact £10 sq m so not as cheap as cheap carpet. Iyswim Grin
Ideal though, we can get a light beige, to make the room seem large and airy, and replace grotty ones by the door as they develop. So ideal really.

So you don't like the shoes. Bummer. The dress is lush though, I thnk if you can find anything you like to wear with it, you could really wear that dress loads. With a denim jacket and some converse trainers? I know that's very 90's....but hey. So am I. COuld you wear it over a skinny vest if it's low?

I always feel self conscious at weddngs too, and then I get there and remember that no gives a monkeys who I am. Most people are thinking about dinner, when it will be and wil there be enough! Grin Half my guests couldn't tell you what I wore let alone their mates/table companions.
Your silk dress sounds lush.

Ooops to the accident. I hope your testing reveals what you want. WHen will you do it? DId the boys have a good time?

Hellooo to HKZ too. Nice to see your pics on fb. There is eggy news actually, we might be in early early labour GrinShock Certainly being induced over weekend if not. So soon we will know what it is and how her labour story goes.

Totally Envy at the chance you have to stay in France. You shoudl leap at it. All this here will all still just be here if you return, whereas chances to slide away from it with safety nets simply don't crop up too often.....!

moosemama · 16/08/2010 20:45

Sounds like you are still making good progress with the playroom. We keep looking at each other and saying we 'must' do it, but then running away and hiding instead. Grin

I like the idea of wearing the dress with a denim jacket and converse - I was thinking of getting some converse boots anyway as they are the recommended thing to wear when you are recovering from my kind of ankle injury. Its not low at the front, in fact its a nice decent level v-neck, but it shows my bra at the sides under the armpits and with my chest size, there's sod all chance of getting a bra that doesn't have structural reinforcements at the side, especially as it needs a multi-way for the racer-back straps. Perhaps I could hunt down some sort of funky boho vest thing to wear under it that would cover up the bra exposure - I would be happy to wear it in a hippy/boho way, just not for a formal wedding type event iyswim. I still love the dress - just not with me in it! Grin

As for the accident. We really couldn't cope with number four, not enough, time, space or money and ds1 is so full on these days we both came back off holiday feeling like we need a break from him. Sad No point in testing for at least another week, not sure exactly as my cycle hasn't settled down properly since dd finished bf. Did speak to dh about it earlier and am really hoping its negative, as I am in the 'its obviously meant to be' camp and he is firmly in the 'we simply can't do it' camp. If its positive I can see a big fight brewing. Sad

How exciting about eggy lady. I gather something happened while I was away, but got lost before reading that bit - sorry I'm not up to speed.
