Ooo x-posts HKZ, just when you were right up there in my thoughts Smile

Pat - livers are amazing it seems. Are they thinking it will heal it's self? Or need something done to it, what that might be I have no clue I must admit. I'm ignorant about everything except lady bits.

I can't help you HKZ, ours is a washer/dryer combned. I don't dare use the dryer because of money woes, and when I occasionally do I find the clothes smell funny. I use those dryer sheets but maybe Asda £1 are crap less effective.

Thought of winter wth clothes everywhere is depressing isn't it.

stripeywoollenhat · 29/08/2010 22:41

oh tree, that sounds horrendously stressful, poor dds, your poor mum and poor you. i hope things are settling now.

and hkz, am so sorry for your friend, think the advice on here sounds about right, insofar as anything could be right. hope j has recovered from his acrobatics Smile

pat, glad to hear all things a bit more positve in the hammer house. apart from return to work!

moose, sorry about crap weekend

so here, c has contracted the first of no doubt a run of nursery inspired viruses. we've had yellow poo, vomit and snot, snot, snot. the poor wee girl is like a wet rag. but no temperature today so hopefully the worst is over. i don't know if i said but she started in nursery last week. just a couple of mornings a week.

thanks for your thoughts - the funeral was a pretty horrible event, and it seems his life had been atrocious for several years, alcoholism, violently abusive partner who, unsurprisingly, didn't turn up for the funeral. awful. Sad

oh well.

Tree don't be daft...I have tabs on my worrying anyway, I try to eat chocolate instead Wink Any health scares concerning those you love are nerve wracking and stressful, especially when it comes to DCs and it helps to share those things on here I reckon as everyone has a tendency to be so supportive and lovely! So there you go!

My mum used to wreck all my clothes with her tumble drying (she was queen of shrinkage) so am a little apprehensive...but so so fed up with clothes on every surface...hmm..what exciting decisions I get to make.

Stripey sorry to hear about your friend, hope he's found peace now.
Poor C, Lily was like this when she first started nursery, she'd never really been ill before that. Poo, vomit and snot.... everyones favourite combination, hope she's recovered in time to enjoy tomorrow. How is nursery going? Has she settled in ok? Are you enjoying the freedom whilst missing her madly? (This is what DP did when DD started)

hackneyzoo · 29/08/2010 23:06

Good luck on your sperm stealing mission dog! Am going to scour ebay for tumblers...DH's birthday is coming up....am sure he'd love a new household appliance.

stripeywoollenhat · 29/08/2010 23:11

thanks hkz. leaving her the first time was horrible, she looked very small and scared. second time she was right in there though Smile we had two short mornings last week, but this week it's nine to one on tuesday and thursday. yes, glad of the freedom, and really missing her is about the size of it.

best go to bed, since i guess there's a possibility of a virally induced disruption before morning... night all

On a different note altogether - has anyone got an Upsy Daisy toy they want to sell me? We want the talking one for dd2, she loved my Goddaughters when she came to stay.

I got her a Timmy, from Shaun the sheep which she loves. I can ill afford it, but want to lavish her with gfts as she feels so rough bless her. So thought might try look out for a preloved Upsy Daisy. You never know Smile

tinkhasboughtoutalltheshops · 30/08/2010 09:35

morning

tree - how awful Sad
pat - great news

having a quiet day here watching dd1s new dvds got her aristocats and fox and the hound

good luck dog

teaandcakeplease · 30/08/2010 09:54

My clothes do not go crunchy line drying now I've started to use a good fabric softener. However towels fluffed up in a tumble dryer rock!

My mum always had a tumble dryer and it was ancient, however she always checked labels and only put certain things in it. You can adjust the temperature and ensure you're not cooking things so they shrink too. Just read the labels and follow instructions for the tumble dryer and it will be a God send! My flat is full of airers in Winter and drying sheets are usually drapped over doors here. A tumble dryer will be great.

Second everyone else Tree Smile

There's loads on here I want to reply to, but I need to dash off to mums and I've already had to go next door once, as DS was reaching into the fish bowl again trying to kill play with the fish Hmm So best not to stay on here much longer.

Catch up tonight.

treedelivery · 30/08/2010 13:16

Gah. Fixing the roof is going to be about £550. £50 for the roofing and £500 for the scafolding. Pants.

So decided I had to really get on and sell my Boden coat, get some pics and list in on ebay.

It has, by magic, aquired a bloody sain on the shoulder! Arse. Never mind - will increase overdraft and never mind. We can't have a leaking roof in winter

Oh well. The girls are ok-ish. Dd2 is really fine, dd1 s sickly and wishywashy, and pooing loads.
She has gone with nana on the train to big smoke - about 1.5 hours. SHe is going to Build-A-Bear as a cheer upper after her horrid time in A&E. Hopefully she won't need a poo on the train.

Have a lovely day Tea.

DH's last day off until Xmas eve. He passed his exams!

moosemama · 30/08/2010 13:52

Morning, just popped in to check up on Tree as I crashed at 9.45 last night.

Will go and check my email for your CAT next.

Congratuations to your dh for passing his exams - one step closer to the dream eh? Smile

My dh hasn't any more holiday left until Christmas either. Hmm

HKZ my tumble drier finally gave up the ghost this weekend. We have had it for 8 years though and bought it from a great electrical seconds store in Brum. Dh has fixed it endless times, but general consensus on the diy/repair forums on the net is that it wouldn't be worth it this time.

Done a quick check this weekend and think we are going to buy this one as the last one was an Indesit and dh wants one he can fix himself should the need arise.

I do hate the way clothes get worn out more quickly with tumble driers, but I am selective about what I use it for. All ds1's baby clothes were in perfect condition, as in our last house, we could dry everything in the airing cupboard or on the landing, so we didn't have a tumbler. Unfortunately things just seem to stay wet in this house and we already have enough problems with damp and mould so can't really dry indoors during the winter.

So ....... I did a test this morning - BFN. Its a bit confusing, as its too early for my normal cycle, but about the right time if I ov'd early. Will test again if no af appears after next weekend. I only tested as I had to go to bed early as I couldn't keep my eyes open last night, then I had get up to wee twice in the night and finally I woke up feeling really really sick this morning. If I'm honest, I don't think I am pg. Would be nice to know why I've been feeling so sick though. Hmm Might book a gp appointment once I amm 100% sure I'm not pg.

tree well odne dh Grin
pain about roofSad

hi mm - hope u find out why u feel sick etc

moosemama · 30/08/2010 17:50

Dog, going on recent cycles af due either tomorrow or Saturday - er .. I think.

I hate not knowing, as I've always been pretty regular in the past. Mind you, I am getting on a bit now, so maybe my age has more to do with my cycles changing than the recent end to bf? Blush

I have just spent ages trying to find myself a warm, waterproof coat for the school run this winter. I managed without one last year and got wet and cold more times than I care to think about. I really wanted to get one from La Redoute, as they have a 50% off your most expensive item offer that ends today. Ended up getting this one in the black. Not very glamorous, but extremely practical.

My three are playing Ring Around The Roses in the middle of the living room. Its so cute, the three of them holding hands - dd is loving it! Grin

I have been holed up on the sofa for much of the day feeling really rough. My intention was to do a Tesco order, order some nappies and label the school stuff. Well, I haven't done a Tesco order, haven't ordered any nappies and I am sitting here looking at a huge pile of uniform, shoes, trainers, pumps, pencil cases, rulers, sharpeners etc that need labelling. Hmm

teaandcakeplease · 30/08/2010 19:27

My twin brother and his wife had their baby today 8 weeks early Sad It's 3lbs 7oz and in scbu having trouble breathing. She just went into labour this morning and as the baby was breech they gave her a c section in the end. So I'm feeling very tearful tonight and worried about the health of the baby and also any future impact on it's health due to being prem Sad All my nieces and nephews (8 of them) have all been born full term and a sizeable weight and of course my 2 DCs were huge babies, so the whole family is rather worried right now Sad Not good at all.

Please tell me everything will be ok, anyone on here had a prem baby?

Oh Tea ((hugs)) what a shock for you all. I have no experience myself, but have heard a lot of positive stories about premmies doing really well. My Mum was born at 27 weeks, which for those days was considered pretty much a hopeless case, but she's here large as life and still going strong over 60 years, 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren later. I know its hard, but try to stay positive.

Hi Books, yes my boys love Conkers. We've been a few times now. Mine are also back on the liquid vits, but ds1 is already poorly, so I don't hold out much hope for us staying virus free in the first half term.

PatTheHammer · 30/08/2010 20:38

Hi books, you could say excited although I would use the word 'delirious' this weekGrin. What is 'conkers' it sounds fun. We went to Thomasland last sunday and I thought of you as we drove past your environs, do you go often?

Moose- I sympathise with the labelling, I have just ironed all DD's school malarky and labelled with laundry pen as the bloody labels not here yet. What a bloody mission it is too!
Hope you feel better or AF arrives or something soon to put your mind at rest.

HKZ- I ordered mine from 'Stuck on you' I think they are called, as they had a good 'value' pack of shoe labels, stick-ons and iron-ons. Still, I wouldn't use if I were you, so bloody late, I have to ring them tomorrow!Angry
Forgot to say good luck for the MRI.

Tea- sending lots of positive thoughts your way, hoping it all works out for your DB, DSIL and the new little poppet. My sister's best friend had her first DD at 32 weeks and she thrived straight away, no developmental issues really aexcept some slight speech therapy, but that can happen with term babies as you know. My friend who recently had her DS at term but he was very small (about 4lbs) has been lucky too with health issues. He didn't/ doesn't sleep well and in the early weeks he was cold/shivery quite often due to lack of fat but he is fine now and catching up steadily on the weight charts. Bless you all x

Tree- Gah at the roof and I have FB'd you about our Upsy-daisySmile Congrats to your DH on his exams. I went in last week for results day and my pupils had done so well I could have cried (apart from 2 disappointing characters who I could happily have knocked their heads together but I guess now or very soon hopefully they will realise what a waste of time and space they are).

C'mon Dog...what are you playing at!

Stripey, sorry about the funeral and C's cold. Z has a corker at the moment, topped off with some explosive poo today (all in public, v.embarrassing but hey, what can you do!). Think its a cold/virus combined with cutting his last four molars poor chap.

so the festival of the tree was quite fun, there were traditional crafts , children's rides, face-painting and punch and Judy show which were great. DD did some house and den building in the woods and DS enjoyed climbing into tractors and wood-cutting machines. The tree sculptures were fantastic and some of the demonstrations were cool. However there were some weird and boring displays on wood sawing, cutting and tools that was a little strange, I guess whatever floats your boat!
Thanks for the kind comments about mum, she is coming up on friday to stay for the weekend so she must be feeling much better to brave the storm of our house!

Lenni · 30/08/2010 20:39

Books - that is one place I would absolutely love to go. Keep trying to book the lovely YHA nearby for a weekend but can never seem to get in.

Tree - flipping heck, what a weekend. Was terrified when I first read your post, so glad it ended well and your parents were so together to deal with it. Poor DD1, her poo troubles must be hard for her. Hope Build a Bear lived up to expectation. Congrats to DH on passing his exams.

Tea - Congratulations on becoming an auntie again, sorry to hear it was earlier than expected and I hope the baby is doing well in SCBU. There are a few early babies on the thread but not anyone who posts regularly. I think Gumps baby was in SCBU for a while though, although haven't heard from her in ages. I think nowadays they can work miracles though and as soon as the lungs have matured a little I'm sure the baby will romp on. Pat will be able to help, her friends baby was prem just recently.

HKZ - Good luck for your scan tomorrow and J's MRI. Are you finding out the sex?

Dog - Are you on the proper countdown now then? Is it 5th you are due? I've totally lost track.

Lenni · 30/08/2010 20:44

There you are Pat! Would you email me the photo of the 3 boys in the bath sometime please? Would like to keep that one for posterity. Where is thomasland?

moosemama · 30/08/2010 20:47

HKZ sorry, I must've missed about your scan and ds's MRI - hope they both go really well.

I'm not doing a great job of keeping up with the thread at the moment am I? Sorry. Blush
