Hello FP. Lovely to hear you are all doing ok. [squidge] for your DS Smile.

becaroo The weather is indeed crap isn't it, my hair is frizzy, the heating is on and the house is like a laundry with clothes drying everywhere.

But you are not at all rubbish! Has something happened?

We are scattering Dads ashes on Sunday. I hope it's not raining when we go out, if it's sunny I think we'll all trudge out into the woods quite merrily, bad weather will make it really hard Sad.

I am aiming for a no cooking weekend, hopefully I will take the dc's out for a meal on saturday (somewhere cheap and cheerful), buffet at my stepmums on sunday and maybe invite ourselves over to mums on monday Grin. Clean kitchen for me!

You ok starlight?

meglet really hope you have a good weekend, going out for meals sounds like a great plan, hope you can get a fitting farewell for your dad on Sunday despite the pain you'll all be feeling.

My parents arrive tomorrow and are going to buy us a take-away, hooray! They've not been up since my birthday in March so haven't seen any of the extension, it'll be quite a shock! I'm already getting bored of the 'this is where the old cooker used to be, yes that was a wall' conversations, but its nice that other people care so I mustn't be a misery over it!

We've got gorgeous wood floor in our hall, and hopefully tomorrow the dining room and snug will be done. Decorator will be here while we're away next week (we've done two coats of paint, his job is to make the top coat look presentable!) so soon and very soon our kids will have somewhere to play for the first time in months. And relax.

becaroo · 27/08/2010 10:05

carrie Sounds lovely!

star You ok?

meglet Ah yes, the frizzy hair! I look like miss bloody hooley from balamory (but less cheerful!) Just so very tired of being tired, you know? the anaemia isnt helping I'm sure but would be nice to have some energy. More ironing and cleaning today. Really wanted to do some baking too but I know I wont. hope the weather stays good for you....great idea about going out for your meals...you will have enough to think about this weekend x

hopefully hope you start feeling less icky soon. In all my pregnancies I got worse as the day went on and by teatime was a retching mess Sad

DP was just sat on the sofa with a custard cream in his hand and T raced over, snatched it and shoved the entire thing in his gob. I've produced such a delightful child.

Bec I have the odd day where I'm not too bad, but then get paranoid that everything's gone wrong, so i'm desperately hoping to be ill again!

Meglet good luck for Sunday, hope it goes as well as these things can.

DebiTheScot · 27/08/2010 18:28

woohoo, off to France for the long weekend with no children Smile. My parents have come down to look after them while we go bouldering (like climbing) and camping in Fontainbleau forest.

Kagey · 27/08/2010 18:56

Have a great weekend Debi!

We are off to Spain for a week tomorrow and still have packing to do (yes I know I am procrastinating on the PC), however I am hoping morning sickness gives me a bit of a break or else I shall be making friends with a spanish loo all week.

Have a lovely long weekend all :)

Meglet · 27/08/2010 22:09

hopefully what's your due date?

debi I am so impressed at you getting a proper weekend away, well done! Hope it's sunny.

I just went upstairs and discovered DD had done a sneaky poo before she fell asleep so had to gently get her out and de-poo her. She is so cuddly when she's sleepy, when she's awake its like trying to control an angry rhino, her current way of showing affection is to gently headbutt me Hmm.

becaroo · 28/08/2010 09:14

hopefully Toby is a monkey for that!!! He also puts things into his mouth whole too. He has been known to take stuff from peoples plates too Blush

meglet Hope it goes well tomorrow x

kagey Hope you are ok on your hols x

debs enjoy your dc free weekend x

Will be painting all weekend again...sigh...

Debs75 · 29/08/2010 21:52

Watched Toy Story 3 with Robyn this evening. And yes I blubbed. WOn't give anything away but I did get all emotional a few times and had a good cry. Dd1 thought I was hilarious, she is so hardnosed she doesn't cry at films.

Meglet I hope things went as well as they could today. We had some glorious sunshine so hope some managed to get your way.

Feeling a bit envious of all you away on holiday but then again I don't think I would be up to much. Lucy is still just sleeping and eating but I am shattered most of the time. When the elder DC's are back at school I will feel better I am sure.
Have uniform to buy this week so that should motivate me to get out of the house.

Meglet · 30/08/2010 09:08

debs We did have nice weather yesterday Smile. The children had a lovely time traipsing about in the woods (my stepmums bother has 2 pre-schoolers too).

better go, only popped on here before DD wakes up and I can hear her chatting to her toys now.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/08/2010 09:48

Glad you had good weather yesterday Meglet, and glad you were able to enjoy it too Smile

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 30/08/2010 13:14

Off on holiday tonight ladies - well off to Manchester for overnight in a hotel then early flight to Barcelona tomorrow. Packing is fun - never flown with C before so dithering over what to take. All good fun.
DP currently trying to get her to nap while i load the dishwasher Grin

Happy birthday to all the children and hope all goes well with everyone. See you in 2 weeks!!

Hello ladies....very quiet on here!!

Are you all on hols??

Just got a quote for £3000 to sort the windows out. Sigh. This house is a bloody money pit and I hate it sometimes but it needs doing...the dc and I were really cold some days last winter Sad

Wanted some ideas actually....as you know ds1 has decided to stay being HE (which I am quite happy with) but all his friends will be starting juniors next monday and I was thinking of doing something special...a day out or something? Any ideas? If its nice weather we might just go on a picnic.

Off to see nephews this afternoon x

jenpet · 01/09/2010 13:57

(wonders if she can just creep quietly back in & no-one will notice!)
Hello everyone again, and huge congratulations to all new arrivals and BFP's haven't got time to catch up with everyones individual news, but lovely to see this thread is still so active...we're all back at school tomorrow, so having a real "last day of the holidays" day today (after ten long weeks!) Shock

becaroo · 01/09/2010 18:58

hey jenpet! Lovely to hear from you x

Debs75 · 01/09/2010 21:03

Hi Jenpet I so wish DS and DD1 were back atr school tomorrow I seriously need some daytime naps. Have to wait till next Tuesday. But I have a really busy week. Have Social WorkersAngry visiting, DP signing on, collecting more baby stuff and my Aunt died yesterday so have a funeral to fit in as well. I guess sleep will have to wait another week

Meglet · 01/09/2010 21:26

becaroo I'm not on holiday.

hello jenpet Smile

debs Is the sw visit a routine one, is everything ok? Sorry to hear about your Aunt Sad.

DebiTheScot · 01/09/2010 22:40

Grrrrrrrrrr just wrote a big post then the internet disconnected and it vanished.

Was along on the lines of- had a really good weekend away with some good climbing, it was nice to be Debi and not Mummy for a weekend, we're shattered from a 3.30am start on Sat and getting home at 2am on Tues, the boys had fun with my parents, ds2 had a good birthday today, we went to an animal rescue centre in London and then Pizza Express.

Hi Jenpet are you the one who lives in France?

Now control c then post!

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/09/2010 23:21

Evening all, and welcome back jenpet!

DH and I had 7 hours table shopping (oh ok, we had lunch, went to fat face, asda and starbucks too Grin) but we did buy a table although I'm ashamed to admit that the one-armed bandaged one thoroughly out shopped me, I was in the 'whatever, just buy anything' stage well before he was! We chose a table and DH ordered it properly today, very excited at all the conversations we'll have around our grown up family table, and all the people we'll be able to show hospitality to, seems like a really important thing!

At my parents now but finding it exhausting (esp without DH) and just want to go home. Don't want to be ungrateful to my folks, but its hard work being here. My very good friend from school who now lives abroad is back for a bit, hence the visit, and we spent today together with our kids, and went out mummies only tonight, which was wonderful.

We went to a farm today, but the play area was massive and sprawling, and I lost DD for about 10 minutes (prob wasn't even that long!). She had no idea she was lost as she knew where I was. AIBU to be upset.....my friend was with my DD and her DD, both age 3. My DD wandered off, friend didn't tell her to find me, or watch to see where she went, hence we had no idea which part of this massive park she was in. If I'm in charge of someone else's child I pay more attention to their child than to my own! Incidentally this is not the same special friend I'd come all the way to see!!

The decorator is by all accounts doing sterling work, although he's only got two days left to strip and repaint 4 doors, and paint all the skirting boards, and repair a wall, so I doubt he'll finish!

Its possible the garden excavation will start tomorrow, but frankly I'll believe it when I see it.

Hope the holiday people have fun, the preggers don't puke too much, and the babyfied get some sleep! The rest of us can drink wine Grin

FannyPriceless · 02/09/2010 11:55

carrie I would have been in pieces if that had happened to DD!Shock I hope that friend has been crossed off your Christmas card list.Angry

I did a spot of table shopping once when DH was away on a work trip. Spent £1700 on a massive French antique farmhouse table!Grin (This was back in the days when we had 'money', remember that stuff?) DH nearly fainted when I emailed to tell him, but he has since come to love it.

CappuccinoCarrie · 02/09/2010 17:51

I feel better, we 'only' spent £399 on one from Browns! Still to find chairs we like though, and that's the pricey bit.

Had quite enough of being away from DH now, last night with parents and back home tomorrow. First time of doing the 5 hour drive with both kids and no other adult backup though Confused

FannyPriceless · 02/09/2010 18:44

Well yes, times have changed since that purchase. When we needed a table for the kitchen in our new house I found one on Freecycle!Blush

Not envying you the drive carrie. Remember, if it all gets too much they can't come to much harm strapped into their car seats while Mummy has a 'moment'.Wink

Meglet · 02/09/2010 21:51

carrie Once the decorator is done is that all the interior finished? Good luck with the drive home. I am enjoying some wine too Grin.

I have decided I might have to re-name DD 'Mariah' due to her spectacular tantrums and refusals to 'do' stairs Hmm. Why do stairs when you can stand at the top hollering for mummy to carry you? DS was never as stroppy as she is, things are thrown and bottom lips are pouted out if someone dares to try and get her to do something she thinks is below her.
