Sympathies Dolbear - I'm sure something will turn up. Where abouts are you - could you job share with someone that has kiddies too? so that the job is full time and you split it? maybe chat to mums at nursery - maybe they think they have to work full time and are hating it?
ds takes his nap later in the day than he normally did - not till about 1.30 but then sleeps for 2 hours and I have to wake him otherwise I don't knwo WHEN he'd wake. He's then in bed and asleep for 7.30 - I think nursery/growing up knackers him.

Chuffed · 03/11/2005 10:40

Hey all, glad to see other kiddies never stop moving, won't sit at the table, it is driving us mad, thought it was just the travelling that was causing dd to not sit still. She is still a pretty good eater but has days where she hardly touches anything and others where she eats 3 huge meals. I figure it is just a toddler thing and trying to stay chillled about it figure she will eat when she is hungry - she has been eating our food since she was about 9mths old so no special meals for her, she is really good about trying new things too.
LJ congrats on the ttc - if you know around about when your fertile phase is each month (mucus etc lots of info on the ttc threads) then you could get some naughty novels etc which sometimes help make you feel a bit more energetic etc, but agree with MrsD - having some time to yourselves definately helps. MrsD have you started to protrude a bit too now?
HM - I'm sure I was this big at 9mths last time, feel quite massive to be honest but it is all out front like last time. dd likes to rub my antistretch mark lotion into the baby every night before bed which is rather cute.
Well we leave Greece today and then in a couple of days we will be back in NZ - rather daunting but we have done it and sometimes can't believe it. I'm starting to feel a bit more tired as well HM and have been wondering the same thing about having 2, I do have the advantage of having both sets of grandma's who have had almost no time with dd on tap and I'm sure the novelty of us being in NZ won't have worn off by Jan/Feb.
Well signing off chat soon hope take care.

Well I had the strangest conversation the other night with dp - talking about having a 3rd child!!!!!!! My immediate reaction is "NOOOOOOOOO!!", but dp would really love to be pregnant again - it was the happiest 9 months of her life (strange woman!). So we've decided to not make a decision for a few months - keep thinking about it. I think if she really wants to go for it then we will, but I can't quite believe it's not me that's driving it - I was the one that wanted kids, but I'm finding 2's quite enough, thank you!!

fennel · 03/11/2005 11:42

dot1
maybe it's meeting my angelic 3rd which has convinced your dp?

Am all in favour of 3rd children (unless it's school holidays when it all goes pear-shaped). I can't actually believe how special my 3rd has been to me. hassle and hard work having 3 little ones but I am glad we did.

dolbear · 03/11/2005 19:58

i am the eldest of three so if anything we will stop @ 2 3 bedrooms 2 kiddies both dh and I had our own rooms and feel stringlt that ours should have the same
have taken advice and stopped doing the high chair fight scene in the house every night - he now gets a lttle plate of rolls and fruit and some of our dinner if he shows and interest and thas it , not falling into the trap of offering 6 diff types of food to get him to eat

TracyK · 03/11/2005 21:56

good news dolbear.
i find ds will automatically push away his plate no mater what is on it - but if we just carry on eating and kind of ignoring him - he will end up picking at his plate and before you know it - he;s finished it! tho some days he just doesn't eat much at all. So if he refuses fruit - I KNOW he's not hungry and just give him formula at bedtime.

MrsDoolittle · 04/11/2005 08:12

Well I'm finding much the same as you ladies. A temperamental toddler, will eat loads, some days and none the next.
An elderly lady very close to our hearts growing up always used to reassure dm with her saying
"Three days emptying, three days filling up".
Maybe an old wives tale but I tend to find that knowing 'it happens' makes it far less worrying. Dd is a pretty stout little thing and well able to indicate what she wants, I'm too lazy to struggle with her. If she doesn't want it, that's it - no choices. Although she does always eat pudding! Like her mother, dd has a very sweet tooth!

Dh brought dd home from nursery last night with reports that she smacks other children trying to play with the same toys "She is very wilful" said dh tamely.

Chuffed - I have been thinking about you travelling. I am definitely protruding but it's not majorly obvious which is similar to my experience with dd. Everyone says "You don't look it!" and express surprise when I say I am almost 6 months pregnant. The assumption is this must be a good thing, but in truth I don't get much sympathy when I can't bend down and feel out of sorts.
Pregnancy suits me apparently, which I interpret as because I'm quite wide anyway I don't look any different!!

dot - I'm quite excited at the thought of having three!

TracyK · 04/11/2005 08:26

MrsD - would you better off with a normal buggy and buggy board? I know ds hasn't been in his buggy for months now and only used it at the airport last week to help with the luggage. But I spose if you have a double buggy then you could put baby in one side and shopping in the other??

MrsDoolittle · 04/11/2005 08:59

I have thought about that Tracy but dd was slow to walk. She has only really been walking in the last few weeks. Neither do I trust her to stay on the buggy board, I fell she is still too little.

TracyK · 04/11/2005 09:55

Oh in that case get the double one MrsD - ds was an early walker and now can walk/run for 20-30 mins before wanting picked up. But from walking to this stage - we still had a good 6 months (if not more) of using the buggy - so you'll get the use out of a double one no probs.

fennel · 04/11/2005 13:51

absolutely get a double buggy with that age gap i would say. phil and teds sounds excellent too - you can use it as a single or a double, can't you? that would have been my choice

also if you are considering a 3rd, you might need a double buggy again so it'll be a good investment

used ours regularly for 2 full years with my 17 month gap children. dd1 was a bit of a lazy sort eventually I forced her out of the buggy at over 3. always thougth I'd be the type to have my children walking young instead of lounging around in buggies. but sometimes it's a lot of effort if they aren't so inclined.....

hunkermunker · 04/11/2005 13:56

I'm thinking of a buggypod for DS - there's a thread somewhere in Products re them. It's a seat that clips onto the side of your pushchair, but folds flat against the side when your older child wants to walk.

Have got high sugar levels after GTT - had to phone for results as they didn't bother Anyone have this last time round? What happened?

fennel · 04/11/2005 14:01

hi HM, never had high sugar levels. is it a diabetes-type worry?

not heard of the pod thing. so many new products these days....

TracyK your son must be a mega walker. i always wanted one of those . can't imagine not using a buggy at this age. but dd3 is currently a keen walker so maybe she'll be my star walker.

hunkermunker · 04/11/2005 14:02

Yep, is a gestational diabetes concern - plus I've not felt "right" for a few days now, so am worrying.

Will ring the diabetes midwife again now.

TracyK · 04/11/2005 14:07

Yes Fennel - he is a mega walker - good on one hand but on the other hand - he's not a little baby anymore!!
He's such a cuddly little boy - he'll come over and climb on my knee and give me a big cuddle and thats when I get a shock that from his knees to his head is the same length as my torso - he used to be a tiny little thing!

TracyK · 04/11/2005 14:07

ps hope you are ok Hunker.

fennel · 04/11/2005 14:11

TracyK, dd3 also getting quite large. i swing her upside down from her feet, it used to be so easy, lately it's like lifting weights. definitely not a little baby anymore.

she's still a mega-eater. will eat everything. am waiting for that to change.....

TracyK · 04/11/2005 15:52

what size clothes are your lo's wearing these days. ds too small for 12-18 mo but the 18-24 trousers are too long. But I've bought a few fleeces off ebay 2-3 yrs and they are nice and baggy.

MrsDoolittle · 04/11/2005 17:15

Fennel, I think you sound sensible. I will go with the Phil and Teds, she keen at walking at the moment but I expect her to tire quickly.
Dd is only just wearing 12-18 month clothes comfortably. She's no Thimbelina but she's not very tall.
I have a non-fussy eater here too, will eat anything. It's just on some days she won't

dolbear · 05/11/2005 18:14

hope goes ok hm, i had opposite - low blood sugar - had it all life would dip v low @ time of the month so that every now and then wopuld pass out 4 few seconds v ebarassing - but if it helps have not had it @ all since b-ing pg ????
ds also had l b sugar when born 2 point they was threatening us with drip etc 0 seems small mother + big baby = Low blood sugar level - not enough 2 go round I guess

hunkermunker · 05/11/2005 18:25

Have been trying to keep my blood sugar more stable today and avoid sweet stuff spikes, and I do feel a bit better, so fingers crossed!

Thanks for your posts

DS is still wearing 9-12m trousers as 12-18 are a bit long and too baggy round his middle. He eats like a horse though. 9-12m tops a bit small though - think clothes sizing is mental really!
