Hi all, wow twice in one week(ish), aren't you all privileged?? Grin

What is shredding???

I am just looking at toddler beds for Pops, am I wasting my money, should I just go for a normal single bed? I like the idea of the sides as she is a wriggler. I like this one Any thoughts?

50ftQueenie · 03/09/2010 14:35

That wouldn't stop M rolling out HMM. She tries to roll over the safety bit in her sleep and I know she needs a bigger one.

Hello hello. DS back at school so things are calm during the day again. Grin Lovely.

M has my accent and most of the time when she says 'no' she sounds EXACTLY like me. However when she is in a toddler grump "NO" is shouted and she sounds, well, like a toddler in a grump.

HMM we have a TOMY (?I think?) bedguard it's soft on the top and netted in the middle and is anchored to the bed and extends about 3/4 of the way down the side of the bed. The other side is against the wall... Q would roll out without the bed guard.

We have to put a blanket over it when he goes to bed because it makes it a bit darker in there (I guess... no idea why he needs this).. it might make him feel more enclosed, like when in the cot. He knows how to get in and out of it in the daytime but doesn't even contemplate it at bedtime or naptime... and he's been in it for ages.

Glad you're feeling better with school starting 50ft Grin

I hope your new teacher works out well, cf. Yes, it must be very difficult. Do you have time to meet with her as well in the week?

StarExpat · 03/09/2010 19:53

also what is PPA? Sounds like a good idea!! Do all teachers get it?

Oh dear MyJob, that's not good. I've missed a lot obv, have you taken her to docs for that?
I've read a couple of threads and now thinking toddler bed is waste of money but DH still wants toddler bed cos worried how high a normal bed is.

coconutfeet · 03/09/2010 21:20

Poor N. It's so horrible when they're sore like that isn't it.

S is still in a cot. Someone is going to give us a bed but we're not going to put him in it till we've moved and he's in his own room.

Star - PPA stand for Planning, Preparation and Assessment. All teachers get half a day out of class a week for this (or in our case one day every fortnight.) Sorry - we get so used to teaching jargon that I forget other people don't have a clue what we're on about! Presumably your dh must get it as well.

cf yes some of our teaching jargon is a bit different!
Do you not have things like PE, Art, Music, french, IT, Dance, Library (those are ours)....etc during the day in which you plan/prepare? I don't know how DH's works as he is in secondary so I feel like it's a different world altogether aside from the British system differences.

Myjob - Poor little N :( Q is cutting his back molars right now, too... but nappies nowhere near what you describe.

Toddler height is necessary IMO HMM or just put a mattress on the floor. Q's is from his cot, it was a cotbed so transformed into a toddler bed. It was given to us free as a hand me down from people who were moving overseas. Their 6 year old had just outgrown it Shock

StarExpat · 03/09/2010 21:33

Is it related to something she eats, myjob?

you've probably been through everything... sorry. It's all I could think of. Poor baby :(

Star - I have to teach all those subjects! (well not French in this school, the children learn Spanish.) No we don't get any time out of class apart from our PPA time.

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/09/2010 22:04

I think that my children would starve if I removed peas and corn from their diet! Grin

First day was good thanks myjob. There are some pics of her in her uniform on my fb. She did painting, a bit of drawing, had a story just before her packed lunch (we're going to do school lunches 3 days per week and packed the other 2), and some dressing up as a princess. She apparently made 3 new friends but couldn't remember any of their names. Another girl walked up the road to her car just behind us and told her parents that it was P ahead. When we got to the cars the other girl said goodbye to dd, but dd wouldn't reply because she said that she wasn't her friend as she hadn't spoken to her yet. Confused

I'd go with a mattress on the floor if you have a big room and are worried about the height, or a toddler bed (with bedguard) if space is more limited. Or this if money no object Grin.

The theme beds on that site are hilarious.

I would also be lost without peas and sweetcorn. I keep hiding different veg on S's plate but he susses me every time.

Great news that dd had a lovely day, CSWS.

StarExpat · 03/09/2010 23:06

Cf that sounds like a bit much!!! Wow. I have it easy.
Rofl at that bed!

Honeymoonmummy · 03/09/2010 23:22

Oh look at that CSWS! If anything I would get the Thomas one, she loves Thomas at the moment!

Q's best friend is Thomas. Can't get enough of trains, buses...etc. And anything "roar" with "teeth" (lions, tigers, dinosaurs...etc).

N's appetite and palette is amazing myjob! :)

Off to see csws' photos.

coconutfeet · 04/09/2010 20:04

Ladies, I need some advice please. I stopped BFing S last week (I know I've been talking about it for ages, but I've only just managed to psych myself up to it). He had his last feed on Thursday morning and I'm in agony! I've got totally engorged boobs and it really hurts even to pick S up and hold him. I thought of expressing a little just to ease the pressure, but that's going to increase my milk supply isn't it? Is this normal? Does that feeling just go on its own eventually?

Hi cf, I just expressed a little bit to make myself more comfortable and it didn't take long for the milk to go away. Then you have a few days (maybe a week?) with really weird looking breasts (and not so upright iyswim...) then they go back to how they were before. I was sad to say goodbye to my enormous bras :( (well, enormous for me!)

AFAIK, I think expressing just a bit (not hte whole breast, just a bit) won't increase your supply.

coconutfeet · 04/09/2010 22:13

Thanks Star and Pistachio. I've just expressed a bit and it feels much better.

Star - I just spent a small fortune on nice underwear so I'll be gutted if they don't fit me anymore in a few weeks.

Pistachio - He's been absolutely fine. We decided that I would sleep on the sofa for the next few nights and let dp deal with the mornings. When he wakes up he's been easily distracted a banana and some stories (stories trump anything in this house). He's definitely hungry when he wakes up though. He ate a whole banana straight away this morning.
