I have tumble weeds of hair blowing through my house it drives me nuts and seren always has her hands full of it too.
I'm not saying this to gloat, believe me, thank god seren sleeps pretty well. Normally down by 7.30 and only wakes possibly once for a feed, if not then she normally does between 10 and 12 hours. But I think that may be the difference she is breastfed but I pump for her as I failed at breastfeeding again! So I can tell how much see is getting and it's easier for her in a bottle.
God if she didn't sleep I would be a wreck doing this on my own.
Hope everyone else is keeping well, gutted I can't make the meet up tomorrow.

Ghostfillybusters · 14/10/2010 09:44

Wheredidmyfeetgo....you have 3 under 3.5 on your own and you find time to pump as well??? ShockShockShock I am in awe of you!

Looking forward to the meetup today, although a bit sad that some can't make it...bit of a mad day: meetup this morning and then going straight across London (right to the other side) on the tube with buggy (eek!) to take Mia into my office to meet my team so we can say goodbye to one of my team members who is taking early retirement today. Then rushing back across London in rush hour (double eek!) to put Mia to bed and running straight out as have to visit an old friend who has suddenly lost her father....

I'd better go and get some clothes on, hadn't I?! Grin

wheredidmyfeetgo · 14/10/2010 10:42

Filly yes can see my feet so I should probably have a name change.
One good thing about stress and not eating is that I'm smaller now than I was before I had my first! But I would much prefer to be carrying a few pounds and still have my fiancée with me rather than having to go through what I have.
I hope you all really enjoy the meet up- I'm jealous. Have fun.

minimoonumbertwo · 14/10/2010 11:21

hi all, gutted not to make meet up today hope you enjoy!

All okay here except my next door neighbour has just sold her house and i am completely bereft!! she has dc's roughly the same age as mine and we are in & out of each others houses pretty much every day, it sounds ridiculous but i can't believe how much i will miss them all & their house holds so many memories of all the kids - good & bad - I just can't imagine anyone else there. I suppose the first few years of having kids are amongst the hardest so create the strongest memories. It's selfish but the thought of having to do the whole playgroup circuit again & make new friends just fills me with dread.

Good (or not!) to hear most of us are experiencing hair loss & i'm not the only one...I also think my hair has actually stopped growing so who knows what i'll look like come Xmas!

barbeasty that sounds positive, sorry what is it you do again??

wdmfg welcome back and oh my goodness, i hope you are getting lots of support from family/friends.

Barbeasty · 14/10/2010 13:25

I am an engineer on the railway.

latrucha · 14/10/2010 14:56

Gosh, I'm really not keeping up here! I have lots of visitors ATM and do intend to be back!

Ladylou83 · 14/10/2010 17:01

Hi Everyone

Yesterday was 1 year to the date I got my BFP and I remembered I posted it on MN, so have just spent the last hour reading back through the early June 2010 threads, So lovely to look back at it (even though it was a scary time for many of us).

Congratulations to you all on your arrivals, some lovely names and weights!! :) (Waves at Bluesnowfalcon)

My own little bundle arrived a week early on the 16th June at 2012. After being in established labour for 3 hours and pushing for 1 1/2hrs Erin Amy Rose was born weighing 7lb 1oz. At 17 weeks she now weights 14lb 9oz and she is a very happy chatty girl.

Congrats again :) :) :)

wheredidmyfeetgo · 14/10/2010 20:32

That was lovely to read. There was me fretting about this one arriving early (especially with all the stress) in the end she was two days late.
My precious little girl was born at 9.02am at home as planned. My labour was all of 2hours 2 mins and the last 2 mins were my pushing stage- I thought my first at 5 mins was fast but she was scarey. She started to come out in her sack with the midwife managed to break with her thumb on the way out and she also had her cord round her neck! We named her seren patricia, she weighed 7 lbs 10ozs.

Ladylou83 · 14/10/2010 21:12

Wheredidmyfeetgo Lovely name for your little one :)

latrucha · 15/10/2010 15:30

WDMFG - Are you Welsh? DD's nursery name (too complicated to explain as I'm typing and bf) is Seren and I love it.

Big news here is that DD is refusing to wear nappies except in bed so we're going for it before Daniel gets mobile. We've had three wees on target today and she nearly made it for a poo so good. We have to gou out tomorrow and I'm nervous because she may not like to have accidents in front of others and also it is my bf training day and I'm noy sure I'll get to take in much.

Daniel is a delight. I seem to have lost track of his age and weight - 14 weeks? - but it's mainly because he is so easy. He was sleeping 10ish to 7.30ish but is now waking once or twice. It feels like a walk in the park compared to DD tbh. He had a suspiciously red cheek yesterday but it seems to have gone now. Lord save us all from the terrors of teething!

greensnail · 15/10/2010 15:41

Amen LaT. I have a red-cheeked, dribbling misery sat on my lap at the moment. And there seems to be a shortage of ashton and parsons powder going on as I've run out and can't find more anywhere in my local town.

Well done to your dd and good luck for tomorrow.

wheredidmyfeetgo · 15/10/2010 20:09

LaT ex fiancée is welsh, we have brodie and Rhys too. I love seren and she is well and truly fitting of the name. My very precious little star. I just hope that when people hear of the circumstances they don't think serendipity!
And I'm sure seren is teething too I have never seen so much dribble. And likewise there is a shortage of Ashton and parsons here too!
Well done on the potty training. I'm sure ds2 has been ready for some time but I'm so not ready because of the circumstances :0( poor ds2 I feel like a rubbish mum and I'm holding him back.

greensnail · 15/10/2010 21:21

I think you're being sensible not doing it until you're both ready. It wouldn't be fair to him to potty train when there's so much else going on for him at the moment. DD1 is showing some signs of readiness too, but I'm waiting until after we move before I consider it. She's only 21 months though, so it is quite early.

I wonder if its a national shortage of Ashton and Parsons then. I ordered some online, hope it turns up soon.

latrucha · 16/10/2010 18:19

Definitely wait til you feel ready. Ten days ago I was ratty and impatient. It would have been a disaster.

DD just bit Daniel. I thikn it was my fault as I saw her earlier with his hand in her mouth and I asked her if she had biten him. I probably put the idea in her head. It's the first time she'd done anythign bad to him. I gave him lots of fuss, her none and then told her off. Bit of a shock. We've had an easy ride until now.

Ghostfillybusters · 17/10/2010 20:20

Oh, LaT, there's bound to be moments like that - sounds like you handled it perfectly. Welcome back, btw :)

Not much to report - the meetup was lovely and it was fab to finally meet some of the other babies. They are all Shock utterly gorgeous!! GrinGrin Both Edgar and Jeremy are deeply cute with very impressive thighs Wink whilst Alice spent the entire time sitting and grinning at everyone. The toddlers were fab too - CSWS & Greensnail should feel very pleased with themselves :) :) Hopefully CSWS will post her photos soon so you can see for yourselves...

I went from the meetup to bravely take Mia to the far side of London on the tube to visit my office....Can I please have a major pat-on-the-back from the bf-ing experts amongst you as I did something I would never ever have done with DS or DD1: I bf Mia the entire journey on the tube to the office (45 mins on the Northern Line at 4pm) without batting an eyelid and then.... the entire way home again at 7pm on a ram packed commuter train* BlushGrin There were a few raised eyebrows but apart from the ridiculous heat (it really was packed), it went fine....hurrah!!! :) :)

No news apart from that; mad weekend full of childrens birthday parties etc which have taken over all other social events. And I think Mia is teething too - she was utterly miserable again today, has bright red cheeks, is dribbling for England, ramming both hands in her mouth and nipped me really bloody hard when feeding this evening....sigh...

AlwaysHopeful · 17/10/2010 21:01

Filly Well done! Blimey, George would never feed on a train. He can't concentrate on feeding if I so much as have the radio on! I wouldn't stand a chance on a train...

This thread seems to be populated by super mums. Big pats on backs for all of you. CSWS, LaT, MM, Greensnail, always seem to be doing the right things at the right times. I am mighty impressed.

Life here has been tough for the past week. Four out of six nights had me up pretty much every hour. I had a complete melt down at DD on Friday morning and then cried when I took her to nursery and cried on the nursery nurse who runs our baby group. It has started to pick up since then, though. DH has taken on the project of changing George's routine from mostly-night-time feeding to a normal day time feeding routine. Lots of bottles and not much boob, but it is starting to have an effect.

Thankfully I was at the stage that I was ready to give up feeding myself. I am sad that the end of feeding myself (George is our last baby) has been taken a bit out of my hands, but I am still producing and hope to phase out the last few feeds at night when I can have lovely cuddles and focus completely on George (am crying again now... Sad)...

The other thing that's making me feel completely crap as a mother is that I've been telling myself and George and anyone else that I wanted to get his milk feeding into a decent routine before I wean him onto solids and then I completely caved in when we had tea tonight. I gave him some carrots from my plate to keep him occupied while we ate and I swear he picked it up and chomped on it and GRINNED!! Then got so excited when I gave him another one. So, I mushed one up and put it on a weaning spoon (which I only got out of the back of the cupboard this morning) and he seemed to be really keen, but I got nervous about the lumps, so I defrosted some pear that I made last week. About the first half dozen spoons got spat out, but the rest went down no bother!

I'm so torn. Am I crap for trying to put him off until he was a bit older and more established on the bottle? Am I crap for putting him on a bottle in the first place? Or am I crap for weaning him at 19 weeks? Or am I worst of all for giving him his first feed at night, when he's bound to be up all night with a bad tummy?!

How I am going to wean him onto a bottle and onto solids at the same time, I don't know... But, I have created this mess, so I guess I'll sort it out eventually.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/10/2010 21:13

Ah yes, photos from the meet up - well reminded filly. Have stuck 3 on here. Will leave people to guess who's who, compounded by some of us holding the wrong babies! Grin

AlwaysHopeful - you are not crap for any of those things. I think you have perhaps muddled yourself now though, and need to take a step back and work out a plan of action. Just because George has had food once doesn't mean that he'll be expecting it again at other mealtimes. I would focus on the move to a bottle this week, and then next week, if you still feel the need to do more, throw some cooked but not mushed veggies at him. If he can pick them up and eat them by himself then even the BLW theory says that he is ready. I am an advocate of waiting until 6 months to wean, as per the guidelines, as we cannot see if our babies' guts are mature enough for solids, but even ds1 weaned a little before that when he decided to grab my banana and start feeding himself at just over 5 months!

Am going to bed now. Have had hardly any sleep this weekend. All 3 were up during Friday night, including dd throwing up much of the night, and I'm now feeling a bit sick, so am having an early night and keeping my fingers crossed. Would be v v unusual for me to be sick, so am hoping that I'm just sick with tiredness instead.

latrucha · 17/10/2010 21:56

Well, I've given myself a boost by waiting until I thought DD was ready to potty train, instead of doing it when others thought I should. Sh'es done brilliantly. Three days in and she's had about one accident a day, which is so much better than I was expecting, especially as we've been out and about. She's very excited.

Always Hopeful - I agree with CSWS. You don't have to give him more just because you've given him some. There's time to back track and go more slowly with bottles etc.

Lovely photos. Wish I could have been there.

minimoonumbertwo · 18/10/2010 11:20

Oh i wish we could have been there! How lovely to see those gorgeous cubby bubbas!

Well done LaT that's really fantastic, ds1 is very newly potty trained & the thing i think i love best about it is his scrummy little bottom in pants!!

Always hopeful i hope you're feeling a bit more positive & in control now, it os very very difficult when these darn babies can't tell us what they want...

Well Seb has gone from being a joyous sleeper througher to waking anything from once to three or four times a night. So tricky to know whether to just dummy/feed/calpol whatever, i will probably do my usual & muddle through until things either resolve themselves or i totally break down! [can hear filly tutting as i type!!!]

greensnail · 18/10/2010 14:17

Alwayshopeful - Of course you're not crap at all. I'm very pleased you think I'm doing all the right things at the right time, actually I just seem to be muddling along trying to avoid disasters on the way. I agree with CSWS when she says throw some cooked veg at him and let him get on with it. You don't even need to do this every day once you start, but just do it occasionally when you need to keep him occupied at mealtimes and start properly in a few more weeks when he's closer to 6 months and you feel ready.
I'm much more of a "do it when they're showing they're ready" rather than waiting blindly till 6 months sort of advocate.

Filly - I'm very impressed with your feeding on the train, especially the jam-packed commuter train on the way home. I would really struggle to feed Alice on a packed train (although DD1 would have been fine to feed anywhere at that age). Hope you feel suitably proud of yourself - if you can manage that you can feed anywhere.

CSWS- thanks for posting the photos. Hope you're all feeling better soon.

Ghostfillybusters · 19/10/2010 18:36

You've had great advice from the others Alwayshopeful about being able to stop or take it slowly etc, but I just wanted to let you know that I weaned DD1 and DS onto solids and a bottle at exactly the same time, and it worked really well. If anything, in my head there was some sort of logical Hmm connection in terms of changing everything at the same time....that looks totally barmy when written down Biscuit...anyway, I did it with both of them sometime around the 20-22 week mark

earlyonemorning I think it was us who brought the cold to the meetup. DD1 was a bit snuffly when we left the house in the morning, but I could see her eyes getting puffier and puffier as the day went on. Both girls have been dripping snot ever since and DH has had a big dose of man flu too.

Your description of Edgar getting his jabs has just made me cry too. Alice's haven't been too traumatic, but DD1 used to cry and cry too as though she couldn't believe anyone would do that to her. Its true what you say about them losing a bit of innocence.
