I've been hearing this all day on the radio. I can't take the suspense any longer. They are going to affect the lives of 'every one of us'

I feel like a person wincing and clenching my teeth in anticipation of the big fuck-off needle the school nurse is wielding, and I'm next in the queue....

Come on then, what's it going to be?

MNost pensioners though have very little money. Most people in the UK earn between aboud £13k and £30 k a year I think so sadly it has to be hitting those that gains Govermnents revenue.

That silly health in pregnancy grant could go - no-one spends it on vegetables anyway: the people it was designed to help probably just spend it on fags anyway.

Think the health in Pregnancy thing will go and I'm surprised it hasnt been mentioned by the Government already.

Its going to affect everyone - cuts by their definition hit the poor more, because a family say with a joint income of £100k don't get any benefits other than child benefit and they probably wouldn't miss it too much if it went.

However the rich will be hit by tax rises - but there needs to be cuts too because they couldn't raise enough with tax rises alone.

I do think though that there is a lot of waste, eg quangos, or even surestart - which is great when its providing free services for those who need it, not such a great use of public money when its providing subsidised childcare for high earners.

Those of you who have mentioned public sector pensions - in fact, public sector pensions have just been cut, with many people in my workplace suddenly losing the right to retire early and having their final benefits slashed.

However before we all applaud shiny Dave, this is due to legislation that Labour brought in, as part of the programme of cuts they put in place before the election.

earthworm · 10/06/2010 09:25

nottirednow - the 'thatcher thatcher milk snatcher' thing has been disproved now surely? When papers were released under the 30-year rule they showed that she had fought hard to save the universal provision of milk to school children, but was over-ruled.

Incidentally, the Labour government started the cuts in 1968 when they stopped free milk for children in secondary school. The Conservative government did of course take it a step further in 1971 by cutting provision for children over 7.

What about Trident and the banks that were bailed out by us all??
Why do we have to suffer to fund these?

RBS et el should be treated similarly to public sector now surely. It's tax payer's money that kept them afloat.

I've always been very grateful that free school milk got scrapped; I hated drinking milk!

On the free bus passes for OAPs, just means test them. Don't take them away from the poorest.

In the same way, take away the winter fuel payments from wealthy pensioners.
