Strangelybrown I see you felt entitled to go on the thread exapt created that was addressed to the Brown family in order to engage in some Brown bashing - nice.

animula · 13/05/2010 23:35

StrangelyBrown - you are like the little Hobgoblin-person, singing a hurdy gurdy tune, and winding Zarathustra up.

GB did manage a lot of wealth redistribution, and lots more. Your ravings are just weird.

Sorry, I might manage more, but I am, indeed, dispirited.

Sweeedes · 13/05/2010 23:39

Is strangelybrown a man?

wubblybubbly · 13/05/2010 23:39

strangely, on the gap between rich and poor, check out this links

You might well argue that it's not good enough, but I hope you'll note how the wealth disparity soared under dear old Mrs T!

You talk about airbrushing, there's no doubt folk form a view on their own experiences. My experiences under a labour government and under Brown through this economic crisis compared the hell I went throught under the last tory government will no doubt colour my views.

Perhaps your own experiences have led you to a different point of view?

ZephirineDrouhin · 13/05/2010 23:40

I haven't heard of any criticism of Gordon Brown's response to the financial crisis from outside the UK. Quite the opposite.

Sweeedes · 13/05/2010 23:42

I do like it when the men come to Mumsnet, to tell us where we're going wrong with our bosomy politics.

BecauseImWorthIt · 13/05/2010 23:42

Yes, who are you StrangelyBrown? And why are you posting on these threads? You're a bit troll-like, tbh, given what's been posted here (personal angst, reference to previous threads, obvious upset, etc)

Strangelybrown · 13/05/2010 23:47

erm...that OECD report shows inequality getting better from 2000...hurrah...but , oh dear- its worse from 1990 . so...to sum up...under new labour the net effect is....worse.

hmmm. that rather blows a hole in that piece of cheery brown news doesn't it. Must be why he didn't produce that report in the elction campaign.

ZephirineDrouhin · 13/05/2010 23:51

I do feel that strangelybrown is familiar. But then I'm bad enough at remembering who's who even when they don't namechange.

Hello sweeedes

Alastair Campbell thinks Vince Cable is going to be the first to jump ship. Very sad if he's right.

wubblybubbly · 13/05/2010 23:51

ahem? 1979 to 1997?

1997 - to date?

Should've gone to specsavers?

Strangelybrown · 13/05/2010 23:52

1990 to date .

BecauseImWorthIt · 13/05/2010 23:52

Oh yes, how rude of me - hello Swedes!

Beachcomber · 13/05/2010 23:52

Strangelybrown you are freaking me out with your ... ... ... a lot more than you are with your mob mentality opinions.

Strangelybrown · 13/05/2010 23:55

but you're right- the good news is child poverty rates are higher now than in the mid 70's and 80's...

and you're celebrating this stuff?

animula · 13/05/2010 23:56

Hello Sweeedes. V. good to see you.

wubblybubbly · 13/05/2010 23:59

That's right, I'm celebrating the improvement, the rectifying of the horrific Thatcher policies that sent the figures soaring in the first place.

Maybe Brown should be critcised for not whipping out his magic wand and solving the problem with a whoosh of stardust?

What do you celebrate? Let's know what we're discussing here?

How about the cancer referal times? 2 weeks to see a specialist? Does that tickle your fancy perhaps?

ZephirineDrouhin · 13/05/2010 23:59

In the past I have found the lecturing debating style of some of the men on here a bit of a pain in the arse, but I'm quite enjoying the mad extremes of BeenBeta and CoolFonz at the moment. Don't know why. Perhaps this just seems the right time for men with sandwich boards saying the end is nigh.

animula · 13/05/2010 23:59

Was that from Twitter, Zepherine?

Beachcomber · 14/05/2010 00:00

Night all thanks again for some great exchanges - sorry to hear that some people are off and hope to speak to you elsewhere on MN.

wubblybubbly · 14/05/2010 00:00

'scuse the spelling, my brain is shutting down on me

animula · 14/05/2010 00:01

Zephering, I've been reading "When the Lights Went Out". Maybe everyone else has already read it. But I'd recommend it. It's v. comforting. Especially when it says that "end is nigh" feelings are hardwired into the British psyche.

ZephirineDrouhin · 14/05/2010 00:02

No am just rambling, animula. Must go to bed. Am going to try to have internet-free day tomorrow in attempt to salvage some scraps of my life.

wubblybubbly · 14/05/2010 00:02

Night night Beachcomber. I must be off myself now. Both mind and body are weak and unwilling

ZephirineDrouhin · 14/05/2010 00:02

I haven't read it. Thanks, will have a look for it.

animula · 14/05/2010 00:04

V. good idea. I feel I've spent more time here recently than is healthy.
