Is anyone else really bloody peeved about the 10k tax cut at the expense of raising VAT to 20%?

I thought the whole point of the lib dems 10K threshold was that it was supposed to be paid for by raising upper tax rates. Now they've caved on that and the consensus seems to be that it will be paid for out of VAT rises - one of the most unfair forms of tax in existence.
