Wubbly - how are you feeling?

wubblybubbly · 12/05/2010 23:10

Healthwise - pretty good, just knackered.

Politically - totally screwed

animula · 12/05/2010 23:12

wubblybubbly - wishing you luck with your treatment.

thetoriesaretoast - I love your idea of the virtual salon. Mind you, aren't we then supposed to form cabals ans exercise power?

general - dh's nightmare scenarion is AV and centre-right coalition until the end of time. So the Friedland article will be hidden from him; he'll be wandering around the house, chuntering distractedly and despondently.

Quattrocento · 12/05/2010 23:20

Onebat, that's because all non-lefties look the same to you, I think But we're all very different if you look closely.

onebatmother · 12/05/2010 23:20

wubbly. Keep us updated, when you can? and when you can't - rest.

animula - I too am wandering round the house chuntering etc. Well not chuntering, which sounds like a Bunter word for farting. But wittering.

thetoriesaretoast · 12/05/2010 23:21

Certainly made me feel distracted and despondent. But the truth is no one knows how it's all going to pan out. Does make Labour seem very isolated in opposition though. I always assumed we had the Libs on side when it came to hating the Tories.

AIBU in missing seeing GB in the news already?

TDiddy · 12/05/2010 23:27

If the coalition fails then being the only opposition party WILL pay dividends so hang in there.

On the other hand if this coalition works well then Cameron will be leading a centrist Govt and could do very well. Too early to say as we have to go through the honeymoon period for several months. Can't see the Bill Cash types holding their fire on say, Simon Hughes for ever though.

onebatmother · 12/05/2010 23:27

Quattro, I know you're teasing, but that really isn't true. I can distinguish the minute variations, I just don't always think they're as important as their owners do.

onebatmother · 12/05/2010 23:29

Actually, I don't know you're teasing, but I hope you are.

wubblybubbly · 12/05/2010 23:32

Thanks OBM and animula. Not so bad so far and it's one down 5 to go!

yes - definitely wishing you all the best, wubblybubbly. And there's always a seat in the salon, with hot chocolate and coffee and chat.

DavidHameron · 12/05/2010 23:43

Hello lefties. Irritatingly distracted by work today... will catch up.55% though:wankers

onebatmother · 12/05/2010 23:45

proles - absolutely. Hello DavidHameron. Night all.

wubblybubbly · 12/05/2010 23:46

Aw cheers folks

Any foot rubs to go with that chocolate? You get foot massage with chemo these days (don't tell The Prime Minister! ) I'll take my turn, so long as there's no gnarly feet on my watch.

I'll have to go easy with the hot chocolate, my fear is the steroid/chemo combo will leave me looking like Buster Bloodvessel come the summer Still, I'll have legs like a veet ad!

Going to hit the sack now and myself some kip and catch up on the chaos/calm tomorrow.

BecauseImWorthIt · 13/05/2010 00:42

Hello all! Just back from work - it's been a long day.

Hope you sleep well, wubbly.

I haven't seen much telly today, because I've been in the car or working, but I did listen to the radio whilst DC and NC were doing their thang.

I loved the radio reporting, started by Richard Bacon on Radio 5, talking about it as if it were a Civil Partnership - even down to 'orchestrated' bird song in the No 10 garden!

On the news back, though, they said that there were 4 women in top roles - by which I assumed they meant the cabinet. Who else, apart from TM?

elkiedee · 13/05/2010 01:33

Bookmarking another thread before it fills up completely. Love the title.

Haven't read this one but saw comment at the end of the last one. Looks like we could be stuck with them for a fixed term of FIVE years - so much for the fixed term as a principle.

elkiedee · 13/05/2010 02:01

Re Surestart, I don't think the Tories could care less about refocusing Surestart, it's just being put forward as an excuse for making cuts.

I don't trust the Lib Dems on this either, though they came to meetings when our Labour Council started talking about privatising our centres.

I'm a middle class mum in a working class area - the attendance at the children's centres varies, but the nearest one to me seems to have been much more successful than the others in attracting working class mums. Most are older, and some are as old as me but I have met teenage mums too.

Morning all. Hope all are well - hope those with poorly little ones are faring well/better, too.

Don't know if you're Guardian readers, but there's a brilliant piece in the G2 by Lucy Mangan "101 Reasons to love the Tories." There's an asterisk by the title, and the small print says: "actually we could only think of 19"

Number 1 is - "they're very fond of animals. Dead or alive"

thetoriesaretoast · 13/05/2010 09:13

Animula, cabals and power possibly out of reach but spreading dissent part of the job description too. Dissent is our middle name.

Just heard journo (Simon Hoggart?) on R4 saying Cam 'n' Clegg were so loved up yesterday that if they turned up at a B and B together, Chris Grayling would expect them to be chucked out
