Hope this is ok, I was getting withdrawal symptoms!

I don't think Hambo can take the pressure. He looks remarkably flustered. Hair even looked ruffled

Noone could say that about Gords - he had superhuman resilience

thetoriesaretoast · 11/05/2010 13:50

Cat, that's something I've been wondering. Do people want PR because they support the LibDems or do they support the LibDems because they want PR? Chicken and egg (but no ham).

MmeLindt · 11/05/2010 13:50

They showed that clip of him whalloping the egg thrower on TV last night. I could watch it again and again. DH was in stitches.

LadyBlaBlah · 11/05/2010 13:53

It is classic

Compare that to Hamhead's egg throwing incident during the election.......he is such a wuss (or lacking substance)

Not a lone voice, LadyBlaBlah, another JP fan here.

On the AV topic, it sounds similar to the way votes are counted in Australia (apologies if someone has already pointed this out). It seems to work ok, but is balanced by having an upper house elected via PR. It's a more straightforward way of having constituency MPs and a system that takes all votes as being equal.

The downside is that fringe parties, like Family First, are more likely to gain a senate seat and, in the event that the upper house is hung, which it often is, can effectively block the progression of bills through a whole parliamentary term.

MarionCole · 11/05/2010 14:01

Who thought it would be a good idea to include Letwin in the negotiations?

LadyBlaBlah · 11/05/2010 14:03

I want a lib con too

Can't be arsed with the Tories whinging about 'winning' for the next few years. This way at least we can be safer from sweeping hideous Tory policy.

Nick Clegg is just off the smugometer now

AppleTreeWick · 11/05/2010 14:07

Hameron...to achieve gravitas in meetings:
speak slowly, lower your voice and eye them (or think Leningrad)

also great negotiating tip is to ask people to explain their opponents point of view

it can help everyone feel "heard" without them feeling they have to do all the talkie talkie point scoring (think wonk)

Think I agree with you Len. Suspect Clegg would be toast under that scenario though.

Senior Lib Demmer has apparently said the Tory offer is 'the only deal in town'. They're talking to each other again.

Hello chaps
Sorry in and out here - but just wondering if anyone knows what the thinking is about Vince Cable as CofEx> Is this being talked up as a real possibility?

Please, pleazxe, please, a Tory minority gov. now. LibLab would be disaster for both and for lefties everywhere. Pol: right as usual: I would so HATE to be NC right now.
