Politics

Pondering, and while slightly more optimistic than we once were, still really quite unhappy Lefty thread

Where had we got to? We'd agreed that we all love Cameron, right?

I was just going to ask if someone had a link to the punch up with Campbell/Boulton.

It is probably not very helpful here to state I fancy the arse of Campbell, is it?

I quite like the aggro actually: I do think people should feel strongly about politics.

100x, I have a friend who knew the Milibands a bit (N London chatterati ): perhaps we know each other? And she mentions it ALL THE TIME too...

Campbell (and Mandelson's) roles are not be unerestimated. Their roles represent the remarkable and unlikely healing of Labour factions in the party's mature years. And Campbell's role is out of sheer passion and party loyalty.

Party unity is to be encouraged...text/email any Labour/Lib MP that you know and encourage them...

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/05/2010 20:07

I would prefer Johnson as well Ewe. But I think he is not as media savvy/presentable as some of the others and that will go against him.

I don't get eithr of the Milibands to be honest. They look like the bastard sons of John Redwood and Ann Widdecombe.

I don't think you could get a much more loyal labour party member than Campbell. I think he's great.

I also have a very sneaky regard for Mandelson. He was great on election night.

ahundredtimes · 10/05/2010 20:09

DavidHam Perhaps we do, except I've never mentioned it before now . . .

ISNT - I just looked him up . Sky political editor.
Another Alistair fan here - but he's one of those men you can just see would be a bloody nightmare to live with.

Can someone explain AV to me? As though to an idiot child? It's a type of PR but with a two tier element, is that right, and the Cons would go for that? But the Lib Dems want a STV system?

I did Politics A Level, you know. Unfortunately it was in 1984.

Campbell, nightmare to live with but I bet he's a fantastic shag

HamShine · 10/05/2010 20:18

Friend of dh's posted this on fb, and I like it:

xxx doesn't understand why a party negotiating for the most advantageous coalition should look like 'hoors'. Reconciling the public's wildly different opinions is called 'democracy', you fuckwit British journalists.

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/05/2010 20:18

I was going to say the same DavidHam but didn't want to lower the tone

But yes he so is.

Can't keep up with all this politics crap... but BIWI, I'm very sorry to hear your news. I hope things go well for DH.

Beachcomber · 10/05/2010 20:22

Trying to think of something to post that isn't gushing about Gordon Brown.

Must stay on here and not stray into the rest of MN as I fear I will get very very wound up.

Campbell is the business, Mandy - thank God he's on our side.

I prefer Ed to David and regret that Harriet is not possible.

No matter how this turns out I think it is great that the Tory we are entitled party is having to crap itself not only over this election but over their future as the party we know now.

Coolfonz · 10/05/2010 20:24

Campbell, massive massive massive war criminal. Hang the scumbag, awful charlatan.

taffetacat · 10/05/2010 20:25

I keep dreaming that if the Tories don't get a look in they will reveal their true identity as fish aliens

< been watching too much Dr Who >

MmeLindt · 10/05/2010 20:25

"watched Gordon give his statement at Downing Street this afternoon from upstairs window and could hear all his words very clearly rising up

very proud and humbled by all the Tweeters who have send supportive messages and who clearly love this great country too"

I've suggested that you're ignorant once or twice too, dear :-)

Beachcomber · 10/05/2010 20:28

Oh and I think we should definitely adopt the 'meerkats' as part of our lefties thread lingo. Love it Lenin. I can hardly bring myself to write it the normal way.

Oooh nice lady referring to the work Gordon has done to reduce debt for poor countries - I HATE the fact that this is never brought up when people bluster "but he sold our gold" - yeah he did (for good reasons) and persuaded others to sell theirs too and contribute some of the loot to reducing world debt.

I'm so so pissed off by the way this man has bee, treated by the thick British public.
