Where had we got to? We'd agreed that we all love Cameron, right?

OP posts:

thanks ImSoNotTelling but I do mean it.

Before the election we would not have been unhappy with the (relative) position we are now in. Wouldn't swap places with the Tories.

We are doing well in the face of a hostile press. And best of all Gordon gets a role shaping things on his way out...very fitting for a majestic servant of the country/party.

Lenin but then my status would read fuck the meercats and no animals were harmed during the production of this post

ImSoNotTelling · 10/05/2010 18:36

BIWI forgot to say, sorry to hear the stress inducing news from your DHs work.

Fingers crossed for him.

It is reassuring to see politicians like NC, Harman, GB act in a manner that isn't purely self serving. Actually Britain is blessed with good leaders even though we like to be cynical about the lot of them...and I include DC in that...

Well, you know it is a game of two halves, Jim

hungysavingexpertdotcom · 10/05/2010 18:42

justabout, glad to hear it.
BIWI sorry to hear your news - hope it turns out ok
So, some of you think that GB going now is a good thing? Without me having to reread the last 10,000 posts, why? Is it because it means DC has failed?

NorkilyChallenged · 10/05/2010 18:42

From BBC's live updating thingummy (because Twitter makes my eyes twitch):

"Labour's Sally Bercow has been campaigning for a progressive left coalition on Twitter, so she's predictably excited at the prospect of more talks. She tweets: "OK Lib Dems - kettle's on. Biccie? I've got HobNobs, Custard Creams, Chocolate Digestives... whatever you like (apart from Jammy Dodgers)."

MNer?

leavingonajetplane · 10/05/2010 18:43

Dont mock the little newsplayer on the BBC election site, its a lifeline from overseas.

It was going 24/7 and now it just tunes into BBC news when something happens.

So Im pottering around in my silent house and suddenly a voice will announce that the Conservatives have ordered in pizza. (The Lib Dems had muffins).

Links to it one more time, because i love it Overseas Lefties can access Live BBC News reports here

These threads are also a lovely lifeline.

I thought it was a mnetter who posted that on Twitter.

Yes, am enjoying the BBC online. Wish it were always available.

Had a peek on that thread. Was going to post but then I noticed that Thatcher was being hailed as a heroine. Really did not know what to say after that.

NorkilyChallenged · 10/05/2010 18:47

Not mocking! That's what I've been relying on too

I think it's all going to work out fine. I thought that last Thursday and I still think that now.

The Conservatives have been badgering talking to the lib dems for three days and still not got it in the bag and GB has imo played a very cool and statesmanlike game.

Just be glad that none of you date Nick is is such a good flirt. He might still go off with Dave but could just be trying to:

i)Make Dave jealous

ii)keep his family (party) happy that he made an effort with Gordon/Labour.

I like these hung parliaments: normally losing party feels pretty shite, pretty wiped out and here we are constructing the rebirth of nuOldeLabour , to rule for a generation with the only question being what route to take. Great stuff.

Beneath all this is the the fundamental fact that Britain is largely a decent country and as soon as the centre left party (Labour in particular) proved that they were reasonable managers of public services/economy, then it became very hard for Tories to gain a majority.

DavidHameron · 10/05/2010 18:56

Aaaagh. Oooooooooooh. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I have recovered from my love-in with Portas and am all overwhelmed by Gordon. I'm afraid I'm with hungy and Penth's pessimism now. I preferred the con-lib alliance falling into a knife war scenario. Majority will be tiny. Electorate and press will hate it.

But... at least we won't have any Tory nonsense. For a while at least.

BIWI, I remember when your DH was worried last time - I do hope it works out well for you....

TDiddy · 10/05/2010 18:57

I am trying not to get too excited about Lib_lab coalition as it may not happen .....altho' it could be a seriously good route it may not be our best route....choices eh!
