at KFC advert at 11am.

thetoriesaretoast · 07/05/2010 09:56

Norkily, the Tories are complaining about GB hanging on to power but constitutionally he HAS to stay until a govt is in place. DC can't just walk in and claim it. If there's no one in charge, it's embarrassing for the Queen (and we certainly don't want that!).

Beachcomber · 07/05/2010 09:56

Agree it was too much ham shine that did for Cameron.

Still finding this the funniest joke ever on MN. Think I might be a tad hysterical with tiredness.

Radio 4 ( so it must be true ) programme sating it will have to be Conservative with Lib Dem support government .
Because as Imsonottelling said the nos don't add up .
Lab + Lib Dem wont equal a majority .
My initial elation is dissapating ...

OrmRenewed · 07/05/2010 09:56

DD learned some new words this morning when mummy shouted at Theresa May on Today

4 hour round trip coming up........with a smiley happy authoritative meeting in between.........FFS

That Julia is a bit of a tit

thetoriesaretoast · 07/05/2010 09:57

Clegg making a statement at 10.30 apparently

auberginesrus · 07/05/2010 09:58

BBC site (results page)

Cons 36.1%
Lab 29.2%
LD 22.9%
Others 11.8%

taffetacat · 07/05/2010 09:58

so......WWYD this morning ? Put DD (3) first and go to local Music group which she adores, populated by churchy types ( am atheist ) and local conservative district councillor, or stay home and watch Nick Clegg announcement at 1030? Don't have stuff on my phone to keep in touch and can't take laptop.

NorkilyChallenged · 07/05/2010 09:59

Thanks taffetacat - still can't find it on BBC but am probably not looking properly

Reading BBC explanation of what happens with hung parliament, hard to tell what's going to happen now.

Beachcomber · 07/05/2010 10:00

Oh bollocks to statement at 10.30, I have to got out then.

nearlytoolate · 07/05/2010 10:00

I've said this on other threads but I think this is a result that will please no one. Can't believe the LDs didn't increase their share of the vote (guardian website says it is 23%, it was 22% last time). We cannot claim that this is a victory for a progressive pro reform coalition when the only party to increase its share of the vote is the Tories.
I don't think Britain will ever vote soft left - they only vote Labour when led by someone by Blair, lets face it. And I don't think we would get a majority for PR in a referendum.
Sorry, I'm definitely depressed.
And I still want Gordon out.

redrosette · 07/05/2010 10:00

so if labour and the lib dems go into coalition, it still wouldn't be enough. Don't see labour doing a deal with the SNP or PC to be honest, maybe the greens and a few independents? who else...?

I'm happy the tories didn't walk it, but worried about the prospect of another election and the tories walking THAT one!

how can there not be enough booths? thats just ridiculous! look at the queues and go 'oh dear, we must sort something out for these people before 10pm' duh?

Nymphadora · 07/05/2010 10:01

Anyone looked on the anxious tory thread? wondering how positive they are. Cant bring myself to look

I did see a style one about Sam Cam being the next jackie O .

Ninjacat · 07/05/2010 10:01

Goldsmith says it all really

LadyBlaBlah · 07/05/2010 10:01

Not even a choice taffeta

Your dd will probably not remember history in the making, music can wait

NorkilyChallenged · 07/05/2010 10:02

Ah thank you all for posting percentages.

Finally saw them on BBC site (clearly written on main results page )

Yes thetoriesaretoast, that's what I thought and my quick perusal of BBC explanation has confirmed. GB can't just resign now anyway.

theyoungvisiter · 07/05/2010 10:02

so the minority parties - surely there are more left wing ones?

I mean Ulster Unions are for the Tories - sure.

But I can't see SNP, Plaid Cymru or the Greens ever supporting the Tories - or am I wrong?

Could they go for a three way coalition or is that a recipe for disaster?

nearlytoolate · 07/05/2010 10:02

If Clegg can't get a PR referendum out of Cameron (and I bet he can't) then I think we should have a minority Tory govnt and Lab/Lib should try and vote down the worst bits.

GetOutOfMoiWayTories · 07/05/2010 10:03

Just had a look a the Gordon megalomaniac thread, was going to post but then though oh go fuck yourselves.

Some people on that thread seem as thick as pigshit.

Waah I don't like it waaah. Have a look at the constitution, mate.

I've been there Ninjacat. They are fairly glum. It's not a great result for them all things considered. As far as we can tell. I really have no idea what happens next actually. Does anyone know what's most likely?

theyoungvisiter · 07/05/2010 10:04

The Anxious Tories are not crowing.

Most of them are disappointed I think. Some of them are saying they are delighted with the resounding Tory victory in England - not sure what that has to do with it since we live in the UK.

Unless they're thinking of starting up a "Tories for Independent England" party
