Anxious Conservatives thread!

As the lefties have one, we need one too.

I have everything crossed for them to win, by however small a margin, and red wine and arsenic ready in case they lose...

I daren't stay up as my nerves can't take it. I just desperately want to wake up to a Conservative government tomorrow morning.

Lefties, please don't intrude. I have deliberately started this thread so as not to pester you on your anxious thread. It feels mean and unnecessary to tell you why you are wrong on your own thread.

I'm surprised how badly the Libdems are doing TBH.

Alibabaandthe40tories · 07/05/2010 02:26

Wow that is a fantastic pair of results in Wales - 3 more gains in England just flashing up now on the BBC.

sethstarkaddersmum · 07/05/2010 02:26

do you think the voters disapproved of him cavorting with that Cheeky Girl?

sethstarkaddersmum · 07/05/2010 02:27

the numbers of seats are catching up, at least.

Cartoose · 07/05/2010 02:28

skihorse · 07/05/2010 05:46

Oh dear, all too much excitement for me yesterday and I fell asleep by 7pm your time.

OH woke me up just over an hour ago to tell me the good news (even though he's a Red Scot!).

Also v thrilled about Guildford because my uncle has campaigned (and stood at council level) tirelessly for them for years and years and years and I hope he's celebrating!

VicToryA · 07/05/2010 06:51

Oh cripes...

Oh dear, things not good. Fingers crossed for last minute rally Just got up and surprised, worst possible result.

TheJollyPirate · 07/05/2010 06:57

I am gobsmacked by how close the result is. I am not Tory btw but just thought I'd visit everybody

I was fully expecting a Conservative win - even if by a short margin and am utterly amazed to see how close the result is between Cons and Labour (who I didn't vote for either).

However, even though this thread is NOT for Labour can I just say I am delighted that Margaret Hodge battered Nick Griffin (BNP twat) into third place in Barking. Made my morning that had.

skihorse · 07/05/2010 07:00

Jolly - clearly the people of Barking are not! (badoom tish etc.)

TheJollyPirate · 07/05/2010 07:04

Have just been over to crow on the pro-BNP thread where mostly people are anti BNP. Started quoting Billy Bragg lyrics . Evidently need to shut laptop and go off for some tea and breakfast.

alliwantissleep · 07/05/2010 07:19

DS woke at 2.30am and I checked the tv thought all is not lost and went to sleep with my fingers crossed. Now I want to cry! I know quite a few people who would have voted Conservative who have decided to dab with Lib Dems, I hope they now realise they've protected some Labour seats - it's all a big conspirancy!!!!

whifflegarden · 07/05/2010 07:22

dh mentioned last night he almost dabbed with libs. I was very

Coolfonz · 07/05/2010 07:25

It's great the way the Lib Dems get loads more votes but less seats! That's democracy for you! Heheheheh.

Coolfonz · 07/05/2010 07:29

13 years of Labour.

Who helped kill millions in Iraq, still killing and dying in Afghanistan for nothing.

With a prime minister who can't manage a bag of chips.

Who alienated his core vote.

Who screwed up the campaign because he can't even remember to take a microphone of.

When the Tories had huge wave of offshore funds from the super-rich.

Who were supported by the right wing elite who control the British media.

And it appears they still can't win an overall majority. And if they do it's going to be tiny.

It's like Kinnock, but worse.

Coolfonz · 07/05/2010 07:30

microphone off.

skihorse · 07/05/2010 07:32

I thought the Jews controlled the media? At least that's what I was taught in Saturday morning Torah class.

whifflegarden · 07/05/2010 07:36

Makes me furious the way lefties keep claiming GB "inherited a mess". Where the bloody hell has he been the past 13 years then?

BeenBeta · 07/05/2010 07:37

It looks like the Tories will form a minorty Govt with DUP. I hope the Lib Dems will support the Tory party on many issues such as civil liberties.

My hope is that Cameron will get support to reform seat boundaries to remove Labour natural majority and that Scotland, NI and Wales get more powers in return for not voting on English issues in Westminster.

The big question is whether the LibDems will support the Finance Bil to cut the deficit. I hope they will do teh right thing there. I would be happy to see Nick Clegg and Vince Cable being given a seat in cabinet in return for their support.

Sterling and Gilts market are being hammered because of the uncertainty. Hopefully they will recover as the day goes by and the Cameron Govt is confirmed.

Coolfonz · 07/05/2010 07:40

Charming.

The Sun.
The Star.
The Express.
The Mail.
The Times.
The Telegraph.
The Standard.
Most of the BBC apart from the World Service.
All commercial radio.
The advertising industry, media buying.
Satellite TV where one company holds a monopoly.
The control of magazine and newspaper distribution by 2 main corporations. News Int, Smiths.

Even the centre-right dupes at the Guardian and the Indie are too pathetic to fight back...money driven fakes.

Yeah the right really have a hard time promoting their message.

skihorse · 07/05/2010 07:57

Beenbeta - Yes, I think Vince Cable has some very sound financial policies which would be a credit to any government.

Tbh I'm really pleased (and secretly surprised!) with this result - OK, I know it's not a crushing majority - but it has somewhat restored my faith my my fellow countrymen.
