I think the bit that made me angreist was her blithely asserting "oh the Tories won't get in ... you've always been melodramatic..."

policywonk · 06/05/2010 20:10

I settle for just about anything at the moment if we got proper PR. (I'm only saying this because you're all lefties, you understand.)

doggiesayswoof · 06/05/2010 20:11

signing in, nice thread

Will be a mixture of C4 and BBC for us tonight I think - did someone say Armando Ianucci was on somewhere? Him and Charlie Brooker and David Mitchell should be a bit of a distraction anyway...

Booked day off work tomorrow not because of hangover but because I will be too sad to show my face if the worst happens

Signing in! Haven't started on the wine, but I will soon. DH has bought a case of beer for three of us. I will be drunk.

Nymphadora · 06/05/2010 20:14

Signing in, may miss it all through sleep

OMG I may be bringing a baby into the world under a Tory govt

LadyBlaBlah · 06/05/2010 20:14

I take it the 'personal insult' rule is waived on this thread with regards to waxwork?

Jaquelinehyde · 06/05/2010 20:15

My brother is playing a large part in the Sittingbourne & Sheppey poll/count and says he expects to be at the count until 3am ish due to the turn out!

It was much earlier I spoke to him but the trend usually continues doesn't it?

Signing in by the way...I've been in and out of depression all week. Today I am feeling very nervous, but for some reason more positive than I have in a long time...Is it a sign?!

Beachcomber · 06/05/2010 20:15

I salute you comrade toomuchmum lucky you getting to vote for Gordon.

I totally agree with you (and my left wing mother has a crush on him).

Loved the Citizens UK speech. I too do not understand the bad press, well I understand the bias we have in the press but I'm surprised by how disliked he is by some people. I know he's not perfect but I can't help thinking people don't like him because our politics has moved out of the realm of moral conviction and totally into that of camera smiles and dumbed down sound-bites.

taffetatactical · 06/05/2010 20:16

Evil DH back from polling station. Amy Pond stunt didn't work ( not quite as pert as her ) and forgot to puncture tyres.

MarionCole · 06/05/2010 20:16

Wine is open.

I'm with monkey too BUT it could be so much worse under the Tories. It's not great to have to vote for a Labour gov. that hasn't lived up to our hopes, especially when they had such a massive majority in the HC, but my god, we think things are bad now ... I have been a Labour Party member for many years but resigned over Iraq. This election has made me think that I have to rejoin and try to change things from within. I work in the public sector, and we are all very, very nervous.
Have hit the wine BTW and am aiming for an all-nighter.

taffetatactical · 06/05/2010 20:19

Marion

Are you waiting for the waiter to pour it?

EweStupidToryVoters · 06/05/2010 20:20

Right, I have the following:

Two bottles of wine
Doritos
Sour cream and chive dip
Onion and garlic dip
Ben & Jerrys
A very naughty packet of cigarettes as it's a special occasion, nobody tell me off please!

I think I am sorted. DP wants me to go to the count with him but they don't have enough tickets for non-tories anymore! Might get a last minute one but not really arsed either way, it'll be a Tory win here so no surprises but have a few friends going though so could be good fun!

If not, I'll be here and Twitter all night

KayHarker · 06/05/2010 20:20

I'm still hankering after onion rings

MrsChemist · 06/05/2010 20:22

DH has set up an election HQ in our living room. The computer is streaming BBC1 and the telly (right next to computer) is on channel 4.

Our polling station was empty as well.

PinkFuschia · 06/05/2010 20:24

My 80 year old mum is disabled and had a postal vote. When I asked her on Sunday who she had voted for she said, enigmatically, "I did the right thing."

She just phoned me to say she had voted Labour and she hoped I wouldn't be cross. (I've been a Liberal since I was a teenager).

She's in a Con/Lab marginal and was totally confused when I said, "OMG, you are the best mum ever!"

onebatonevote · 06/05/2010 20:24

@gabyhinsliff is a VERY good person to follow on Twitter

she says: early fone calls elicit news: 1. LD vote softer'n thought. 2.LD vote harder'n thought 3. DC got majority 4. DC just shy of maj #clearasmud

and

only consensus 1.GB not won 2. turnout high 3. can't agree who hi turnout favours. you'll just have to stay up all night, folks

ImSoNotTelling · 06/05/2010 20:25

Stuffed full of curry.

Feel so sleeeeeeepy...

Am going to watch it in bed, I'm going to fall asleep aren't I, and wake up in the morning to hordes of capering toffs going rarara on the telly. Like in the young ones "we;re going to smash the oiks"

elliemental · 06/05/2010 20:25

very pissed off as I have a school trip tomorrow which I agreed to help with ages ago without thinking it through, which will curtail my urge to drink too much wine and stay up all night to watch....
have red outfit planned for the morrow though

expatinscotland · 06/05/2010 20:25

'A very naughty packet of cigarettes as it's a special occasion, nobody tell me off please!'

I won't! I'm going to get DH to roll me one.

And the onion rings are in the deep fat fryer right now.

Fuck it. I'm a nervous wreck.

PfftThePinkoLeftyDragon · 06/05/2010 20:26

I am drinking

monkeysmama · 06/05/2010 20:26

I haven't voted Lavour since Iraq. I vowed I never would again but as the daugher of a docker and dil
of a Wapping printer the thought of bringing up dd with a Tory gvt was just too much. A generation later I am witness to their damage.

policywonk · 06/05/2010 20:26

Apparently Obama's comment on meeting Dave was 'what a lightweight'

Ex-P has just dumped the kids on me brought the lights of my lives back to my loving bosom so now I've got to scrape the top layer of pus off them and strap them on to their gurneys. See you 9ish.
