I have my baby due in December,during Christmas holidays.My friend who had a baby last December complained about lack of staff in hospitals during Christmas break and hence poor service.you have increased the number of NHS nurses.please do something to improve NHS's service also.

Greeny- LAC now have the PEA- Personal Education Allowance for any that are underachieving (ie 99%) which goes to the LEA to be devolved to schools. There is also the DCSF one-to-one tuition scheme... which despite being in the bill that was abandoned in the wash-up of parliament, has bee ring-fenced it seems, and will definitely be going ahead in academic year 2010-11. The DCSF has stated that all LAC will be having tuition under this scheme and LEAs are supposed to make this happen (and been given the funding for it). Admittedly it is only 10 (?) sessions, but it is a start.
Of course, these are attached to the child, not funding for des teahcers, I realise.

My DH won't vote Labour because of ID cards (also works at an airport) so Fenouille's question is a good one!

Why has this government done so little to support British farmers?

Please can you make tax credits simpler and make it easier to off set cost of childminding against tax. I am middle aged single mum with toddler. Theoretically could claim both but tax credits unbelievably complex if self employed and nanny, who has rave reviews from all employers, hasn't got through the myriad unnecessary courses that would allow me to claim her costs aganst tax. (and I can't afford more time off work to give her the time to complete the HMRC hoops). If she's well enough qualified for me to employ her to look after my precious daughter why don't Ofsted and HMRC accept my judgement instead of adding layers of bureaucracy and requiring her to meet their standards which fall far short of mine?

Neenz, yes, more support for bfing would save the NHS millions each year. £35 million per annum for babies hospitalised with gastro bugs alone, and that's not mentioning the long-term health effects for both baby and mum when breastfeeding isn't part of their lives (and the impact on early parenting relationship - and the lasting effect that can and does have - when a much-wanted breastfeeding experience isn't part of that time).
