It appears most people have the view that all parties are pretty much the same and lets face it we don?t really trust any of them that much.

However there does seem to be an overriding difference between the three parties that stands out a mile and that has a huge impact on us all i.e. it appears that only the Conservatives believes that we should have freedom and that the state should not control our lives, for example:

  1. That the state should not take more and more of our hard earned money and decide how it is spent (and very often spend it far less efficiently than us)
  2. That the state should not be allowed to tell us what we can or cannot do every minute of the day (and then ironically not deal very well with crime).
  3. That the state should not tie us all up in ever increasing red tape and legislation whether you are a business, a teacher, a medical professional, a Police officer etc. etc.
  4. That the state should not take it upon themselves to give away our sovereignty and rights to Europe without asking us first (and lets not forget the many who died in wars fighting for our rights and sovereignty).
  5. The list goes on and on.

If the above is important to us it appears that the Conservatives are the only choice.
We know what Labour are about in terms of the state (we have seen it in practice for 13 years) and it looks like the Liberals are no different (just hopefully a lot nicer, cleaner and charming about it). PS I am not a troll btw just in case you were wondering

ROFL at quattro.

expatinscotland · 28/04/2010 08:06

Doctors stimulate the economy by keeping or making people well enough to work.

Teachers do so by educating people so they can perform work and/or acquire skills to do more skilled work.

You are an idiot, OP.

But thankfully, the state makes it easy for all those who are unhappy with the system here to leave and pursue life in places more suited to them.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

'StewieGriffinsMom' - not confused so please dont speak to me like I am a child. I know the exact purpose of this site. I logged on to see what women were saying about the election and tbh I wish I hadnt of bothered! Have you not thought that LDLA may be the same as me, logged onto see what the opinion of the female voter was and felt they would like to add their view to the endless of other views? Could noone give LDLA the benefit of the doubt first before judging? As my mother used to say if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all!

b4real · 28/04/2010 09:17

Omnishambes. Nick CLegg wants us to be in the eurozone doesn't he?. that's a right vote loser. We are aleady paying milllions to those corrupt eurocraps! no pun intended!

b4real · 28/04/2010 09:20

Griffinsmom. There is an election going on , what else do you expect?, this is 'talk politics, no?!

LakeDistrictLardArse · 28/04/2010 09:51

Good Morning !! Your favourite Tory here At last a few pleasanter posts, and I am not just thinking of MummyTo3Boys or b4real either just because they haven't shot me down in flames. Quite agree that this is completely like an adult version of playground bullying, shame on you, if you look at the OP I wasn't 'telling' anyone who to vote for, I wasn't being nasty to anyone who had different views, I was expressing an opinion with a view to getting other peoples takes on the situation (after all isn't that the idea, no?). Amazing how many people are getting hung up on 'new posters' and 'name changing'. If you are fed up with hearing other peoples views on politics why visit the 'politics' bit? You could always just ignore any threads you don't like? I also agree with a previous comment that it is nasty posters that (sometimes) gives MN a bad name.

I think LDLA is being 'shot down in flames' because her initial post was... a bit weak.

If you want to discuss politics on here, it's better to move beyond random fictions and sweeping assertions, because people will point them out quite quickly. (Like on the bloody UKIP thread)

And if you are a new poster, it's better not to start off by insulting a recognisable poster (weegiemum).
(...and if you're trying to get people to agree with you in general, probably best not to randomly insult all teachers and all doctors too - a free politics tip for you there)

theyoungvisiter · 28/04/2010 10:07

Lakedistrict it is nothing to do with playground bullying.

It's to do with people's natural irritation at posters spouting ill-informed fact-devoid rubbish.

Particularly when those posters have either joined MN specifically to harangue regulars with their strident political views, or else have namechanged in order to do so.

How would YOU feel if some anonymous political canvasser walked up to you while you were chatting with your friends and started telling YOU how to vote?

If you're a regular then have the courage to do this under your own name, please.

If you're NOT a regular then why not stick around and post a bit of advice and empathy in order to convince us that your views are actually worth taking seriously?

PinkoLiberal · 28/04/2010 10:11

Thanks all the same but I am not a Tory voter in any shape or form, I have read the manifestos though and been interested in politics since I was ten so please don't worry yout pretty little head about me

So no

Conservatives not the only choice BTW what a load of bollocks translated as

'I am getting worried the party I fancy won't get in so I will try and talk down to those silly mums on mumsnet'

Yeah OK, I think most of us are political to make our own minds up

PinkoLiberal · 28/04/2010 10:14

Oh and the bit about reading opinions

I quite like to read opinions

But when I give mine I tend to thrase it as I think X, Y, Z would be betetr for the country; it would affect me this way.

not X is the only choice.

There's a very definite difference tbh.

And forgiove us if we get narky at new posters- we're being inundated with campaigners atm so whereas I normally try to be very nice to newbies, when they just appear on politics I start to . For evidence look up lincstash in search and how that all went.

omnishambles · 28/04/2010 10:16

b4real I think you'll find we are already in the zone just not the euro - and yes he does when the time is right which I have no problem with at all.

And it doesnt actually matter if its a 'vote loser' or not, its what he believes in which I much prefer than just flipflopping with whatever the daily mail says is popular this week. Its not really about the winning by any means necessary is it - its about integrity, or it bloody well should be.

PinkoLiberal · 28/04/2010 10:17

Oha dn I grew up very close to orm so I suspect we saw The same Things when we were young (quite a long time ago)

My home town was decimated and has never really recovered, part of the reason we are now marrooned here miles away from family in fact. Should my children have a similar set of crics to us (complex, am a carer which should give you some idea) I hope tehy can furrow an existence without having to move away from any support we can offer.

And as we now live in Wales, I really don't think Tory policy suits us here tbh.

weegiemum · 28/04/2010 10:23
mumyto3boys · 28/04/2010 10:34

StewieGriffinsMom - all you are doing is proving my point on the bullying. I do like to be proven right so Im happy! You dont like what I am saying so you turn to insults. I know exactly who I am voting for and what my views and beliefs are and dont need to read about what other people are doing to make me decide. Its my inquisitive nature that wants me to look at what other people think and nothing else!

PinkoLiberal · 28/04/2010 10:35

' all the conservatives will still be out at work I suppose

ooh just spotted that

was dh's 5 years on night shift not work then? ? Or his endless hours working from home trying to make being self employed work not OK? How about being a carer for a couple fo autistic kids- not enough?

Really, think about it: it does make you look as if you have a very narrow view of the world and how it works

you want your injured child seen at 3am in the hospital someone will be there

you want your post of a morning, someone worked all night to get it there

you want a cab at 11pm, someone is driving it

expand your horizons and frames of reference a little: the world is a complex place and the people who live in it vastly different.

Or are the Tories promising 9-5 jobs for all? because I'd quite like that; Dh working nighth shift was shit. And he's fitting in University around working now so it'd be nice to sit down and watch TV with him one evening instead of having him busy doing orders and the like.

PinkoLiberal · 28/04/2010 10:39

' dont need to read about what other people are doing to make me decide

fine bt why would you be here then? I thought MN was about chatting and learning about other people's experiences - I honestly cannot see why soemone so already established in their mindset would benefit from this place?

Seriously, in ten years I have learned so much about other people's lives and their children: domestic abuse, bereavement, the whole gamut. I am told I have educated about ASD and carer roles as well. That's what MN does, you see, although there is of course sleb twaddle and style and beauty for those who like things a bit more decorative (or just want a break)

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 28/04/2010 10:55

at weegiemum.

Was trying to find a word between 'newbie' and 'MN royalty', that wasn't 'person-whose-name-i-remember-but-wouldn't-be-able-to-tell-you-about-their-family-or-opinions'.
Cause that's just unwieldy.

LakeDistrictLardArse · 28/04/2010 11:19

Can't anyone take a joke on here?? Just so it's clear to all, 'out to work' comment was a joke, FYI both me and my DH are self employed and work 18 hour days so no, I don't think Tories work 9 to 5. weegiemum, what can I say, you seem a bit 'needy' to me and it seems you have found your niche here with a select gang of, quite frankly, nasty sounding 'ladies'.theyoungvisiter how is my post anythng like coming up to you when you are chatting to a friend and spouting my views, you chose to click on the posting, nobody made you, you could have just ignored it. I have got work to do now so you will be pleased this is my last posting on this thread. If (God forbid) anyone agreed with me on this thread at a later date, for all you paranoids out there, please be assured it won't be me name-changing, I haven't got the time or energy to bother be honest. Good luck to you all, OVER AND OUT.

I've never had a gang before!
