Good evening ladies, Mrs Beeton here and I'm new to this Mumsnet internet thing! Just finished cleaning the house, including but not limited to, behind the fridge as I would advocate to all MN users to do and details of which can be found in my good housekeeping manual for women!
Anyway enough about housekeeping and onto politics. Now, I understand most MN users on here are fair trade munching liberals, personally I'm a bit partial to a nice slice of Dundee cake (home baked of course, none of this Mum's gone to Iceland rubbish) with my elevenes... but I digress.
Mr Cameron is what this country needs right now - think of the WW1 General Haig poster - 'Your country needs you' and it most certainly does Mr Cameron. In my day Great Britain had an Empire which instilled in its subjects a sense of civility, patriotism, civic duty and people were polite, well mannered, spoke correctly and men were chivalrous - what ever happened to good old fashioned chivalry. Mr Cameron is a reminder of those good old fashioned values most people in Great Britain would love to hark back to but unfortunately Labour and the Liberal Democrats have manifested a sense anti - patriotism, anti - personal responsibility et al - the list is endless....

I agree mrs beeton. I'm ferd up with the lies. as usual labour lived off the ground work the Cons did to start off with and then as ususal put the country in debt. Tehy couldn't mange housekeeping if they'd done an O'level in it. As tot eh naanny state i'm fed up to the back teeth of people expecting the government to help them out rather than helping themselves ic ould rant for ever help you've got me started.

MrsBeeton1901 · 22/04/2010 19:36

scurryfunge - My dear girl, I couldn't possibly have PMS at my age! How impertinent! Did your father and mother not teach you good manners, especially respecting your elders. Us Tories would never stoop to such vulgarities as displayed by most plebs on this site. If you have had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Cameron as I have, you too would vote TORY, this country needs him!

Think to the WW II posters, 'Cheer Churchill. Vote Labour'

Lipstickdipstick · 22/04/2010 19:44

Mrs B You're supposed to be encouraging the little ones not discouraging don't call them plebs. Everyone has a right to their own opinions it's just that some are misguided

scurryfunge · 22/04/2010 20:09

Tugs forelock and walks backwards out of room

Lipstickdipstick · 22/04/2010 20:29

Mrs B have you gone to bed or are you having supper. don't leave us inthe lurch loving this thread

lincstash · 22/04/2010 20:29

Ah Mrs beeton,we of the more sensible persuasion are a bit thin here, as you already worked out MN is full of looney lefty teachers, champagne socialists, and social workers. (When i was at UNI, written above the toilet roll holder in the loo was the words "Sociology Degrees, please help yourself).

I too am her to point out that labour, far from being Party of the Century, are indeed a bunch of lying, thieving, two faced pocket lining incompetant crooks. My favorite hate is the slimy toad Peter Mandelson, who has brought utter disgrace to public office by repeatedly lining his own pocket by abusing his public position.

They certainly dont like it here when you point out the bollox and fantasy labour spouts, and the way the truth is just something other people tell, eg the promised referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, that Brown lied to us about. Not to mention the crap he spouted about 13,000 immigrants.

Welcome, always room for one more member of the sensible politics.

Lipstickdipstick · 22/04/2010 20:34

ooh lincstash you sum them up so politely. Also can't believe those that have fallen for the Clegg if they had listened on the radio and not watched TV he sounded diabolical but sadly people like image not substance. this means Sam Cam needs to glam up a bit to appeal to the yoof. But i think she's got it right

Unemployment has soared to a 12-year high of more than 2.2 million after a record number of people lost their jobs in recent months, gloomy new figures showed today.

The jobless total increased by 232,000 in the three months to April to reach 2.26 million, the worst figure since the end of 1996.

The number of people claiming jobseeker's allowance increased by 39,300 in May to 1.54 million, the highest total since the summer of 1997.

The so-called claimant count has now increased for 15 months in a row.

Other figures from the Office for National Statistics showed that youth unemployment has reached its worst level since 1994 after a 74,000 increase in the number of 18 to 24-year-olds out of work to 695,000.

Long term unemployment, counting those out of work for more than a year, increased by 54,000 in the latest quarter to a 10-year high of 515,000.

Meanwhile, the number of people in work fell by 271,000 over the three months to 29.11 million, the biggest quarterly slump since comparable records began in 1971.

Conclusions:

  1. Its the usual story with Labour, spend spend spend, wait for the bust and watch unemployment rocket. Seen that with every Labour government since 1960.
  2. Youth unemployment rockets as bottom end jobs are turned into minimum wage agency jobs and taken by immigrants. Jobs for under-25's in Nu Labours Britain? Don't make me laugh!
  3. Once you hit 55 in this society you become unemployable. Well done Gordon, you've managed to make both ends of the job market useless.
MrsBeeton1901 · 22/04/2010 23:20

Lipstickdipstick & linctash - Glad to be and on the right side part of the only sensible political party. I had guessed the make-up. Anyway, what does someone who has a degree in socialogy say when they meet you? - Would you like fries with that sir/madam!
Did you know the tories are the only party to make a committment to review IR35. A draconian piece of labour inspired legislation to extract a further £220 million from small business and the freelancing community when in fact to date has only managed £9.2 million! Tax avoidance is not illegal unlike tax evasion.
Now I'm going upstairs with my hot cup of cocoa.

Lincstash, I was agreeing with you about Mandelson for a minute there...

BTW though, if you're going to quote a source, you should probably cite it, or link to it. Just means people know where you've got the figures from.

BertieBotts · 22/04/2010 23:40

If these figures are all only now the worst since 1996/7, then surely that means they have all been better in between this period, ie the period that labour have been in power.

Nah, many more debating points to be scored by posting them unquoted and then clobbering people with the link when they challenge it. This is militant blitzkrieg debating, were not here to be nice :D

Or conversely they fell because the previous Tory governments good financial management that created the boom labour inherited, and then when that effect wore off it began to creep up and up as labour didnt have a clue when left to manage it alone. Its still rising.

TerryWogansCock · 23/04/2010 00:00

it because of this innit?

lincstash · 23/04/2010 00:12

no, more like this

Gotta love labour local government politicians.

Kevlarhead · 23/04/2010 00:17

"Nah, many more debating points to be scored by posting them unquoted and then clobbering people with the link when they challenge it. This is militant blitzkrieg debating, were not here to be nice :D "

So your modus operandi is to quote unlinked figures, await a response, respond with a link to a reputable source, and then chalk another point up to you on a big scoreboard?

In your previous posts you stated you wanted to 'balance out the seesaw' away from the Left wing bias that you saw on MN. To do this you're treating debates on here as series of skirmishes (hence the blitzkreig analogy) in which you're seeking to crush the opposition with overwhelming factual firepower.

I'm not taking the piss, I'm just genuinely fascinated by this approach...

No, it just makes it much more difficult to work out if im bluffing or not :D

Do you feel lucky.......well do you, punk ?

Lilyladles · 23/04/2010 09:17

MrsBeeton

I used to vote Tory. I'm ashamed that I was ever so gullible.

Tory Policy, as with Labour and the Lib Dems:

In the European Union and run by the European Union, Most of our laws are made by the European Union. An ever decreasing number of issues are decided in Westminster.

If you are relaxed about that, carry on.

crystal123 · 23/04/2010 11:01

Terrywoganscock. You have the most vulgar nickname on this site!! That's saying something! How boorish, uncouth, but hey, ho, that's the state that this country is in.

crystal123 · 23/04/2010 11:14

Linctash. Morning, I loved your post, your such a wind up, I'm a veggie, but I couldn't care less if someone criticised me for it, or ate 100 piggies all at once! I feel it shows how 'thick' people are on this site, they get so angry....Cinnamon toast; Crystal, "I'm so angry" Why is this turnip head angry? by words in print, from a stranger she doesn't even know. Makes you think, doesn't it? Roll on May the 6th, this lot (libdems) don't like it up em!!
