UKIP want us out of the EU, I love Europe can't stand the EU.We pay 40 million a day to them
1)72% of our laws are now made in Brussells, from fuel taxes, farming, fishing and immigration.
2)We pay £40 million a day to be in the EU.
3)The Two richest countries in Europe-Norway and Switzerland are not even in the EU.
4)Under labour we now have 3.5 million extra people living in this country. We need proper border controls. Nick Cleggs policy is to count people in and out of the country, and force them to work in 'regions' totally unworkable. UKIP would keep our proud tradition of helping genuine asylum seekers.
5)UKIP does not appear to be anti-christian as do the other parties. The labour parties spin doctor Alistair Campbell said they "don't do God!" I do.
6)UKIP believes in holding referendums for the electorate on key local and international issues. I like this.
7)Crime is now out of contol, UKIP would build more prisons. Last but not least, Lord Pearson (leader) is 'posh' and does not try to hide it.

Are you absolutely sure you're going to enjoy Australia, crystal?

www.immi.gov.au/media/publications/multicultural/agenda/agenda89/australi.htm

Here's a nice quote for you:

"Today well over 20% of Australians were born in another country, of whom more than half came to Australia from non-English speaking countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America. Combined with their Australian-born children, they constitute 40% of the population."

That's a lot higher than the foreign-born % in the UK...

Greensleeves · 26/04/2010 21:33

well of course Princess - all the best people agree with me

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 26/04/2010 21:37

"Lulumamm. I have never mentioned creeds, sexuality or anything else of this nature."

Actually, crystal, you complained a lot about the secularisation of Britain, (and thus everyone who isn't Christian), and had a few digs at me for my atheist screen-name.

PrincessFiorimonde · 26/04/2010 21:38

weloveyoumisshannigan. Gosh. So baking the same bread with thinner/thicker crust just marks the bread out as English/French style? (I mean, as far as baguette-type/hot-dog-type dough is concerned?)

I never knew that...

crystal123 · 26/04/2010 21:55

Flight Gordon Brown. Brown was not voted in, he stepped into Blairs' shoes, when Tony left him in the shxt! He certainly was not 'voted' in on his looks.

I think French bread is just flour, yeast and water isn't it?
Whereas most other breads have fat in, sometimes milk too.
(DD with dairy allergy => too much time spent reading ingredients )

Lulumaam · 26/04/2010 22:03

crystal, are you going to answer teh question re british culture as you have singled me out as the enemy within, i would like to know your thoughts on british culture, teh one you say i loathe and hate?

crystal123 · 26/04/2010 22:03

Heathen No I did not complain about other faiths, I spoke about the marginalisation of Christianity, which is not the same.

OP posts:
weloveyoumisshannigan · 26/04/2010 22:06

And salt.

British bread generally has fat. Americans put sugar in theirs.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 26/04/2010 22:07

So at least four people have asked you variations on this:

What elements of British culture are most important to you (or to British identity)?

Which elements of British culture seem particularly under threat?

...?

crystal123 · 26/04/2010 22:10

Lulumamm Please read more about your own history, culture and heritage, because you are certainly not getting history lessons from me. Suffice to say I love this country
and would never dream of criticising its culture, history or heritage. Get It? PS. Well ok then.... I might if the Libdems get in!

The croisant was originally Austrian and was introduced to France by Marie Antoinette. Its shape represents the crescent on the Turkish flag.

Does anyone else have any trivia to share whist we wait for crystal's musings on British culture?

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/04/2010 22:12

But what is British culture, crystal? And how do you see it being threatened/eroded?

Please don't just insult people who have asked you perfectly reasonable questions.

Coolfonz · 26/04/2010 22:14

What are you on about Claig? Don't understand you. Think you've got the stick by the erroneous end.

Humans eat food, dance, pray, dress, entertain themselves etc. The idea people have separate cultures is by its very nature, separatist.

I think its evident people from differing locations have more in common with each other through things like class, predominantly class in fact.

A rich Oxford educated member of Pakistan's elite has more in common with a rich Oxbridge educated member of the British upper classes, than a rich Pakistani has with a slum dweller in Karachi.

A miner in China has more in common with a miner in South Africa than the Chinese miner has with Wen Jiabao.

Etc.

Petty traditions are just that.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 26/04/2010 22:14

"Heathen No I did not complain about other faiths, I spoke about the marginalisation of Christianity, which is not the same."

I think we have a mutual misunderstanding going on here: you are not considering atheism/agnosticism/humanism as 'faiths', right?
Because if Christianity is being 'marginalised' (a point which I don't accept anyway), then it must be being replaced by something else, right? Secularism? Humanism? So that's the 'faith' you're arguing against.

But please, answer the 'British culture' question, all us England-hating liberals are dying to know what we're missing out on. Surely it's your duty to educate us?

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 26/04/2010 22:15

Am I the only person who can hear Jeremy Paxman saying, 'But did you threaten to overrule him'?

Coolfonz · 26/04/2010 22:17

It seems Crystal can't define British culture.

crystal123 · 26/04/2010 22:18

Heathen and others who ask. I now realise you are not well read, and were sleeping in history, geography, RE,and when your parents told you about this great land of ours. We have thousands of years of history, I'm not wasting my time defending my own country, you can try to demolish, Britains' culture and identity. I won't!

OP posts:
TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 26/04/2010 22:18

It is almost starting to look that way, coolfonz.

Maybe it's like art and she knows it when she sees it?

Coolfonz · 26/04/2010 22:19

You don't even know what it is.

Coolfonz · 26/04/2010 22:20

I mean Crystal doesn't know what it is, for clarity.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 26/04/2010 22:20

What elements of British culture are most important to you ?

Surely you can answer that one?

Quickly, now, there's only room for about 100 more posts on the thread before it dies, and I know you're just champing at the bit to tell us all about it...

crystal123 · 26/04/2010 22:21

Must go out now, the curry house closes at 11pm. Must leave you all to argue the toss!

OP posts:
Nellykats · 26/04/2010 22:22

Are you crying a little but with pride after that little speech crystal123?
