April 22nd TV Debate

I'm going along to be in the audience this Thursday for the Sky News TV Debate - it's being filmed in the South West, although it seems we're not supposed to say exactly where for security reasons.

Would people like an official MN behind-the-scenes report afterwards?

Should I break the rules and heckle/cheer loudly at a strategic moment, and if so then when?

If I'm allowed to ask a question should I go "off-script" and ask about biscuits?

Is there anything else I should think about?

From Twitter:

ITV panel giving it to Brown 47. Clegg 42. Cameron 12 C4 giving it to Clegg over Brown

catastrojb · 22/04/2010 21:38

sea

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 21:39

I didn't think brown did very well at all. and cameron really suffered tonight...I thought he was meant to be a decent orator??? clearly not.

Hobnobfanatic · 22/04/2010 21:39

Well done, GORDON!
Gave real details, not wishy washy, unsubstantiated policies.
Well done, Nick, too.
Cameron is just a paper puppet.

BoggleJunior · 22/04/2010 21:39

A hung parliament wouldn't be disastrous. They all want to win in their own right so have to pretend it would be.

teaandcakeplease · 22/04/2010 21:40

Agree with Beanbeta, always voted Tory and agree with your points.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 21:40

mrsbean murdoch and co would love to scare you into thinking it would be awful for our economy because they do not want you to vote for the only serious candidate that they don't have in their pockets, i.e. clegg.

i thought it was unbelievable that cameron kept bleating on about not using scaremongering when his campaign has been all about that!

Pendulum · 22/04/2010 21:41

BeenBeta.

On the last point on your wish-list- that is in the Labour manifesto.

A commitment to ensure that anyone returning to work will be [£50 I think- would need to check] better off than on benefits.

TDiddy · 22/04/2010 21:41

It's a load of crap that a hung parliament is so bad. The US exists with grid lock in the houses. Just means people have to negotiate

TwoIfBySea · 22/04/2010 21:41

Really? Were you watching a different debate? GB was as bad as last week, if not worse, it is embarrassing, but that is what you get when you weren't voted for in the first place.

atlantis · 22/04/2010 21:41

You gov poll says cameron won.

Hello Beenbeta.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 21:41

beenbeta, i have to disagree, i think a move to the right for cameron would be political suicide which is the reason why he isn't!

TDiddy · 22/04/2010 21:42

My god, how DC must wished that he hadn't agreed to this debating thing

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 22/04/2010 21:42

DH getting pissed of that no politician can say 'military', it has to be 'our brave young boys and girls' or 'our courageous soldiers'.

morningpaper · 22/04/2010 21:42

arf@ David Miliband told Sky: "This week David Cameron didn't really show up for the debate."

BosomsByTheSea · 22/04/2010 21:43

Cameron won

How can it be so different from all the other polls?

DinahRod · 22/04/2010 21:43

Unfortunately LD policy re childcare means personally can't afford to vote for them, but I do think the Lib Dems will do v well in the election, following recent upsurge. They're seen as an acceptable alternative given country's weariness and irritation after long terms in office by Conservatives and Labour - a backlash result and an acceptable middle ground for the disgruntled of both Lab and Con parties.

Molesworth · 22/04/2010 21:43

I think we all know now that YouGov can't be trusted

No way did DC win that debate. He was even worse than last week.

deepdarkwood · 22/04/2010 21:43

Agree with many of you - GB much better this week - seemed more confident in his answers, got his points across more clearly. NC is a great speaker - powerful rhetoric, passionate expression of his ideas, and continues to look very strong. Agree with catastrojb that this feels like a year where a libdem vote isn't a wasted one. DC is really surprising me. I thought he'd handle these well, he's really looking weak. Such a shame

wubblybubbly · 22/04/2010 21:43

Bizarre how different polls give entirely different results

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 21:43

that would be the same YOUGOV that is murdoch's puppet (quite scandalously), please scroll down to see the appalling statement offered by yougov in the light of attempting to slur libdems before polling:

here

funnily enough they were the only poll to give it to cameron last week too!

i think it is a total shocker that supposedly unbiased polling can be used in this way.

lalaa · 22/04/2010 21:44

Totally agree with sophable about Cameron and the scaremongering! Ken Clarke!!

Thought Cameron and Brown were both stronger tonight, but Clegg still strong. Cameron not substantive enough. Brown the statesman, much more this time. Clegg still really authentic. Desperate air about Cameron and he mocked the others a bit, which I really didn't like.

DuelingFanjo · 22/04/2010 21:44

slapometer has David Cameron first.
