April 22nd TV Debate

I'm going along to be in the audience this Thursday for the Sky News TV Debate - it's being filmed in the South West, although it seems we're not supposed to say exactly where for security reasons.

Would people like an official MN behind-the-scenes report afterwards?

Should I break the rules and heckle/cheer loudly at a strategic moment, and if so then when?

If I'm allowed to ask a question should I go "off-script" and ask about biscuits?

Is there anything else I should think about?

Suprised that Cameron didn't do better after his slating last week.

Thought Clegg did better this week (I wasn't all that taken with him last week tbh) Built on his performance last week, he had it all to lose really.

Though GB did well, but not so much a surprise this week as last week.

Fresh new leadership, do the right thing build the new society'

vs

Do things differently - it can be different

There is something similar about those two. They all did well in their own way I think.

Clarissimo · 22/04/2010 21:33

rokers I am not voting for a hung parliament at all

MmeLindt · 22/04/2010 21:33

DC lost a lot of votes with his talk of "doing the right thing".

Why the obsession with the free eye tests?
Most opticians will give you a free eye test!

I definitely think GB came across best, which surprises me.

His elder-statesman wise headshake was a good touch. 'Oh, you foolish boys....'

Pendulum · 22/04/2010 21:34

Fab- what's with all the wiggly faces aimed at me?

I understood the meaning of your words, I was asking (in an interested manner) in which way your mind had changed.

MollieO · 22/04/2010 21:34

whifflegarden your 123 is my 321!

CaveMum · 22/04/2010 21:35

Again, I'm biased but I was very disappointed that there was not more talk on the armed forces. There is more to the military than the current theatre of Afghanistan.

Still not changing my vote though

Ok, so how do you think they did? Please tell us in our fourth election poll

TwoIfBySea · 22/04/2010 21:35

It would be sad if I personally didn't like Labour - but GB is definitely dead in the water.

DC is a Tory, there you go.

NC for PM - yeay!

fabhead · 22/04/2010 21:36

GB was much better than last week, Clegg ok, DC losing it - imo

southeastastra · 22/04/2010 21:36

shit was there another one? i'm watching outnumbered

MmeLindt · 22/04/2010 21:36

Allegra
I agree. He had a kind of wise Dumbledore talking to Harry and Hermione thing going on there.

BeenBeta · 22/04/2010 21:36

I am a lifelong Tory voter and dont think DC is doing it for me. He should have said:

  1. We wil have a referendum on Europe (In/Out)
  2. We will pull troops out of Afghanistan in 6 months.
  3. We will cut the deficit by getting back £60 bn of the money we send to Europe every year.
  4. We will protect front line public sector services.
  5. We will cut taxes for ordinary people and make it worthwhle for people on benefits to go back to work.

That would win him an election. He didnt do it.

MollieO · 22/04/2010 21:36

stirling I was watching on tv and thought DC was quite whiney and petulant looking.

catastrojb · 22/04/2010 21:36

rokers - I will be voting Lib Dem and for the first time I actually feel quite excited about it. That is the way I lean anyway, but in the past have always felt like it is a wasted vote. This time I am voting for the first time like it could actually make a difference, and I am voting for the party not a hung parliament (although I reckon that is what will happen).

mrsbean78 · 22/04/2010 21:37

Can someone explain to me why a hung parliament would be disastrous for the economy? I don't really understand

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/04/2010 21:37

would have liked to hear more about Iraq and much more about our armed forces in general.

alicatte · 22/04/2010 21:37

I am so going to adopt a jaguar.
