April 22nd TV Debate

I'm going along to be in the audience this Thursday for the Sky News TV Debate - it's being filmed in the South West, although it seems we're not supposed to say exactly where for security reasons.

Would people like an official MN behind-the-scenes report afterwards?

Should I break the rules and heckle/cheer loudly at a strategic moment, and if so then when?

If I'm allowed to ask a question should I go "off-script" and ask about biscuits?

Is there anything else I should think about?

Now GB's playing the "I'm only interested in doing the right thing" card.

vesela · 22/04/2010 21:23

total misrepresentation of LD policy there by Gordon.

Pendulum · 22/04/2010 21:23

Fab- in what way? (Or is that too nosy?)

JackBauer · 22/04/2010 21:23

Thanks, missed that in fog of DD's being ill

babyphat · 22/04/2010 21:23

GB definitely better than last week

spub i do remember a very cynical article in the evening standard about jennifer which seemed v much advisors saying 'gordon you must show your human side' - felt he was badly advised there. but otherwise yes doesn't generally seem to illustrate points talking about his kids

whifflegarden · 22/04/2010 21:23

piffle Hopefully people will be deciding on the basis of policies, but from what i've seen of previous MN discussions (and RL) that's not so.

DC really can't win on MN. First it's ohhh he's not a regular person, he went to Eton he must be elitist, he's from such a privilleged background he can't understand how ordinary people live. Now that he uses a personal example to illustrate an experience in common with other carers, empathise wiht ordinary people....ooohhhh that DC! How distasteful, constantly wheeling out his son etc etc

Yes Brown is doing okay. DC fine as well but NC is most passionate and believable. He could go all the way?

wubblybubbly · 22/04/2010 21:24

@ SGM making our own ID cards!

Can I take a drink if SGM said squillions - does it count?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/04/2010 21:24

6 mins to go Sabs.

DreamsInBinary · 22/04/2010 21:24

Me too, Sabs. 21.30 I think.

vesela · 22/04/2010 21:24

DC only speaking to the Tory converted with his answers on this one I think. Less good on this than he's been on other things.

Coolfonz · 22/04/2010 21:24

Much as I despise them the Tories have got it wrong. Cameron should be mayor of London and Johnson should be up there. Cameron is a buffoon, he's blowing it single handed. Even the Tories know it.
It's the worst recession since the 1930's, they should be walking it...but they've got a mannequin-faced toff as leader...

CagedBird · 22/04/2010 21:25

"You can't deport them you don't know where they are" very true very true both GB and DC are seeming very weak on this

sfxmum · 22/04/2010 21:25

go Nick real and honest imo

babyphat · 22/04/2010 21:25

pmsl @stewiegriffinsmom

get out the sticky backed plastic and create that big society from scratch!

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 22/04/2010 21:25

Pendulum - I was certain who I would vote for and now I have another contender .

alicatte · 22/04/2010 21:25

Ooh they walked into that one didn't they!! 'you're reminding me of Gordon' to NC

megonthemoon · 22/04/2010 21:25

alicatte - it's that GB just cannot be spun, or made to be something he's not. when he tries spin, it sounds false. when he is sincere it works. DC and NC are more Tony Blair in that respect - more glossy, polished. GB is best when being just himself. so comes across as innocent relative to most other politicians

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 22/04/2010 21:25

GB is saying ID cards for foreign nationals though, not blanket population any more.

Surely part of the immigration problem is the EU. Lots of immigrants from Poland and Romania/Bulgaria (maybe?) who are entitled to come her and work, just as we are entitled to go there. That doens't seem like the government's fault as such.

BosomsByTheSea · 22/04/2010 21:26

DC "Set a cap to achieve......." hopeless.

An admission from NC that nobody has all the answers. I like that. I hate that the others think we believe the baloney they spout.

"2 million over a decade" never sounds like much to me? Half my friends appear to have moved to Spain...

megcleary · 22/04/2010 21:26

faints at thought of boris as PM

MrsForgetful · 22/04/2010 21:26

am i the onlyone listening on the radio that keeps confusing DC with NC...then realises when its sensible talk its NC and bollocks its DC???
(a year ago i was pro DC....)
