Who wants to play spot the political activists on MN?

scaryteacher · 04/02/2010 21:22

I think there are 3 atm.
Mulberrybush
Ivanahoe
Brainstormer

All three seem to over the politics threads and all are very very new posters.

Add any others to the list if you spot some.

I don't have a problem with mulberrybush - she's completely upfront about being a Labour blogger, she posts thoughtfully, engages with other posters - completely kosher in her approach as far as I can see.

Not aware of the other two.

BitOfFun · 04/02/2010 21:27

I thought you were referring to the MNs with political ambitions that Garry Lacey was scared of

Hassled · 04/02/2010 21:30

They have all completely passed me by, but I guess we'll be seeing more and more posters willing us to convert one way or the other this year. Should be fun .

morningpaper · 04/02/2010 21:32

lol I thought the same as BOF

policywonk · 04/02/2010 21:33

Yeah, I'm with Hassled - I don't really see what the problem is. The more politics the better IMO

Anyway, isn't it the MN line on these things that anybody on here could be anybody? I could be Polly Toynbee for instance. (Someone on here once accused me of being PT - I was dead chuffed )

TheFallenMadonna · 04/02/2010 21:35

I don't mind it at all. Come the election, there'll be threads of people complaining that they haven't been doorstepped by a canvasser.

BariatricObama · 04/02/2010 21:38

as long as they have an opinion on amanda holden and some good biscuit recipes, bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

brainstormer · 04/02/2010 21:44

LOL - scaryteacher, I've never been called that before. Glad to have made your hitlist shortlist

ilovemydogandmrobama · 04/02/2010 21:45

Really, Polly Toynbee

Hate hate Amanda Holden. My friend, Merlin ( real name!) was on Britain's Got Talent and she buzzed him while he was in a dangerous position doing a dare devil magic act, as she thought he might injure himself.

mrsbaldwin · 05/02/2010 12:29

Scaryteacher - You mean what someone else said on another thread about 'politi-trolls' don't you? Not political activists per se ...

policywonk · 05/02/2010 14:33

Yes really Ilove!

What are the distinguishing characteristics of the politroll, then?

Eg, I would find it annoying if someone repeatedly stated Labour's party line on something while refusing to engage with other posters. Or started lots of threads with titles like 'Don't you just think that Gordon's statement yesterday was brilliant!' and then got cross if anyone posted opposing views.

But as far as I'm aware, there hasn't been anything like this, has there?

bibbitybobbityhat · 05/02/2010 14:38

I can't see that scaryteacher was saying she has a problem with them being here.

mrsbaldwin · 05/02/2010 14:41

Policywonk - Well I don't think so ... and a bit like the Betagate trolls they would be very obvious. Myself, I agree with what you said before - more the merrier.

scaryteacher · 05/02/2010 14:48

That's what I meant Mrs B, but I couldn't find the thread when I looked.

They can be here; I just thought it would be amusing to try and spot them and which direction they are trying to nudge us in.

OP posts:
policywonk · 05/02/2010 14:50

That's true bibbity - I was assuming that Scary didn't like the idea, but I could be wrong.

MrsB, I agree they'd be very easy to spot and probably despatched with our usual rudeness aplomb

OrientCalf · 05/02/2010 14:56

So now we have polytrolls and politrolls?

Golly.

BethNoireNewNameForPeachy · 05/02/2010 15:02

I agree with PW about mulberry, interesting diversion about Cuba the other day

Ivanahoe is just odd anfd doresn't pick up posting etiquette very quickly at all

haven't been aware of brainstormer

and cannot see the attraction of Amanda Holdent at all.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 05/02/2010 15:04

or in Policy's case, PollyTroll

Well you know the easy way to get him round Riv

Move to Kensington and change your name to Rivengton-Smythe

I would ahve thought a mass MN email would only work if copied to a paper tbh

mrsbaldwin · 05/02/2010 15:25

Scaryteacher - I agree they are here. But the sophisticated ones are just looking, mostly, I should think. Maybe that is why a pollytroll is easy to spot - because by definition they are unsophisticated

HerHonesty · 06/02/2010 18:44

mumsnet line is now that we should report any politrolls to mn and they will, i suppose, be dealt with in the appropriate manner ...

TheElephant · 06/02/2010 18:46

anyone can post on mn
its none of your business

PollyTroll · 06/02/2010 18:56

I am particularly entitled to post on mn

waitingforglasto · 06/02/2010 18:58

I havent spotted any of these people [must spend more time in politics and less time titting about elsewhere]
