scaryteacher · 04/02/2010 21:22

I think there are 3 atm.
Mulberrybush
Ivanahoe
Brainstormer

All three seem to over the politics threads and all are very very new posters.

Add any others to the list if you spot some.

I seem to be here courtesy of pressing a few buttons in the correct order today. I think the activists may be the ones in the suspiciously long coats wearing berets?

foxinsocks · 07/02/2010 14:34

you lot are obsessed with political trolls lol

PollyTroll · 07/02/2010 18:03

Welcome spacehoppa. Please declare all political alliegances and voting intentions or you will be placed on the blacklist.

cornsilk · 07/02/2010 18:05

I haven't seen any of 'em on style and beauty. Not getting my vote.

BelleDameSansMerci · 07/02/2010 18:11

LOL cornsilk!

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 08/02/2010 16:11

They are very subtle on Style and Beauty, these politrols. Watch out for anyone who links solely to blue dresses - sure to be Samantha Cameron.

cornsilk · 08/02/2010 16:21

ha ha - or M and S specials.

HerHonesty · 08/02/2010 20:01

scottishmummy · 08/02/2010 21:00

i understand consternation at toxic trolls who elicit heartfelt personal stories or just tell poo faced lies.but some action on the politics thread, big whooop di doop

kissmummy · 08/02/2010 21:04

not really sure what politrolls are but dont see why folk who have an interest in politics - work related or otherwise - can't post on the 'politics' section of Talk?

scottishmummy · 08/02/2010 21:06

like the squidy face-hows that work

mulberrybush · 09/02/2010 15:51

Hi

I spotted this and thought I ought to respond.

Thanks for the supportive messages. I really appreciate that.

Not getting a lot of time to post on mumsnet at present. - there are a lot of things I have to do.

I do think you are important though.

People with an interest in politics don't just drop out of the sky. I really didn't begin to be even slightly political until I had my daughter, and felt that the best thing is for women to work together to make the world happen in they way they need it to do.

I did what you are doing - networking,- but without the benefit of forums like this.

The only thing that makes me any different from some other people on here is that I believe it is possible to change things for the better, and I think it is partly my responsibility to make that happen.

You never know - once you are a little older you may feel the same way too.

The fact that the poster could only identify 3 people with any interest in politics is very sad, and i think very untrue.

When I have time to post here I have always come across people with very relevant ideas.

scaryteacher · 09/02/2010 17:12

No, I identified what I thought were 3 politrolls Mulberry, not those I thought were interested in politics; and as a 44 year old I am cynical about change for the better.

'once you are a little older'?

scanty · 10/02/2010 00:04

ilovemydogandmrobama

OT - is your friend Merlin an escape artist with a Mohiccan (sp?)and piercings? If so, the family saw him perform in a circus at school. Tell him he was great - the kids were very IMPRESSED!!!

mulberrybush · 10/02/2010 11:36

@scaryteacher.

Yes cynicism is a real problem. One we have to fight against I think.

I spotted some of your posts on the thread about elderly people. you have done some good research there.

I am a pragmatist, much more interested in solutions than in ideology. You would probably find on that level we would work rather well together!

Glad you picked up on the need for women who have been carers to top up their NI contributions.

It may interest you to know that this was a change that I campaigned for very actively. The legislation was origionally set up with a cliff in it. - a huge difference in potential pension between people with a birthday on one day and someone born one day later.

The arrangements you spotted, were because I and other people like me with an active interest in changing things for the better, took a bit of interest.

A lot of these things are women's issues, and women do need to watch out for each other.

mrsbaldwin · 10/02/2010 12:38

I don't think Mulberrybush is a pollytroll!

I think she is a politician!

Anyway MulberryBush, whoever you are and whatever party you belong to, I agree with you re cynicism and change for the better.

Blimey, IMO we may as well all give up and lie down now if we don't think we can change the world for the better (whatever 'better' may mean - the Conservative vision, the Labour vision, any vision).

mrsbaldwin · 10/02/2010 12:49

Obviously this raises the very much more important question of whether being an actual politician gets you off the charge of being a pollytroll ...

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 10/02/2010 15:38

If any politician can post and not make it bleeding obvious that they are a pollydolly then they deserve votes for low cunning alone. On S&B etc, the PRs who post make it so bloody obvious that they are PRs posting that it's laughable and they are either roundly taken the piss out of or ignored.

Perhaps we should offer courses on 'How to blend in seamlessly to MN whilst winning hearts and minds'?

scaryteacher · 10/02/2010 20:42

at Mulberry. I have done no research at all on the elderly. I happen to have a mum and in laws who are pensioners; my late Grandmother said that her pension gave her the most money she had ever had (and she could have claimed pension credit, but it was all too redolent of charity and the workhouse which she narrowly avoided in her youth for her to apply).

I have an interest in pensions as I want to make sure that my retirement is as secure as I can make it, and have always paid into a work pension and made sure my NI was topped up when unemployed by signing on for the NI payment even when not able to get benefit.

One group you completely missed out when you were making sure some that some retained their HRP entitlements once their child has reached 12, are the Service wives and the wives of the Crown servants who accompany their husbands abroad to keep their families together. We are screwed by this. I will have to pay about £3k (lowest estimate) to make sure that I have my 30 years in. This is 5 years class 3 NICs. I can manage that as I mark GCSEs whilst I am not working, (as I am out of the UK), but lots of the wives of the lowest paid in HM Forces and the Civil service, cannot afford to find this kind of money. Many are posted abroad with a regiment and have no choice about giving up work, or how long they stay abroad. If you work abroad the social security payments made go to that country, not back to the UK for your NI contributions. I have 25/30 years for my state pension, but many will have much less and have no chance of making it up ever.

erm can i add one more to the spot the politroll list.... scaryteacher herself! takes one to know one and all that!

scaryteacher · 24/02/2010 08:28

Not a politroll at all, been on MN far too long for that, and am not a paid up member of any political party.
