Should we tolerate this in the UK?

I am aware that other cultures have different values and traditions, but should we really be tolerating this sort of behaviour in the UK?

https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-16199187/Exposed-British-imams-telling-men-beat-wives-say-NO-sex-police-ministers-failing-crack-them.html

Yet it seems that certain political parties are willing to turn a blind eye to this sort of thing so that they can secure votes from a certain section of the electorate who often vote as a family unit.

I really thought we had moved on from this sort of thing in the West, but disappointingly it seems I am sadly mistaken.

British imams telling men to beat their wives if they say NO to sex

Sitting before his many followers, a preacher dressed in white urges the men to hit their wives if they refuse to be 'called to bed for intimacy'.

Have a dip into some of the Christian Nationalist stuff coming out of the US then come back and tell me I am being ridiculous. I’ll wait…

Do we have an issue with this in the UK or is this just a way of trying to justify you and others turning a blind eye to the problem highlighted? You seem to be doing almost anything you can to deflect from the issue at hand. With people like you around, it's no wonder the Rotherham grooming gangs got away for it for so long, and continue to get away with it.

The political parties speaking out against this openly welcome domestic abusers who do exactly the same. I'm not sure the cultural differences you think exist are particularly varied.

This!
You could photoshop the nasty dude in the picture to be some white hard rightwinger (handwringer!) and he’ll secretly be agreeing and probably does the same. Men are men are men are men. Nothing new under the sun.

AgathaX · Yesterday 22:17

Of course we shouldn't be tolerating this. Not from anyone. Man, woman, Brit, immigrant. No-one.

THisbackwithavengeance · Yesterday 22:18

Why are posters trying to ignore the fact that violence against women is being openly encouraged by some practitioners of Islam. Stop being disingenuous. Using violence as a means to control your wife is punishable by law here and not socially acceptable in mainstream British culture.

Some people will turn a blind eye to anything in their desperation to be woke.

There are many, many fantastic things about Islam but this is not one of them.

White British men only “occasionally” do this? You are going to have to try much harder OP. Your true colours are on show for all to see.

True colours?

Deported to where exactly, since I am guessing they would be English? Prison perhaps.

But it sounds like apart from the drinking, they would fit right in with the culture of some of the countries where these Imams come from.

But given we clearly have our own home-grown problems with some British men that don't get dealt with effectively enough, do we really need to import even more of these sorts of misogynistic and backward thinking men from abroad?

This!
Georgia Meloni in Italy instantly ordered deportation of an ‘imam’ (??) who was advocating this.

You have absolutely no idea about my life or what I do for a living, so you really should stop embarrassing yourself.

I agree. I do not understand the people falling over themselves to argue otherwise.

Agreed, and if it was Christian leaders promoting violence or sexual assault of women, this would also be a big problem worthy of discussion and condemnation. But thankfully they don't and women have hard-fought-for equal rights in the UK. Unlike the culture in many of the countries whose men we seem to be importing en-mass.

There’s a huge difference between men committing domestic violence despite what’s taught in schools and churches, and men being taught by their leaders that DV is the appropriate response to a woman resisting rape.

Huge difference and it’s disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

THIS

You might want to look at the ‘teachings’ of a pastor called Doug Wilson from Idaho, and his promotion of the so-called Christian Golden Age. It’s a favourite of Pete Hegseth.

I’ve never heard a vicar, priest or minister anywhere in the UK tell men it’s OK to beat their wives if they don't want to have sex.

I have no idea what you are on about, but it likely has nothing at all to do with the problem being discussed. Pure deflection.

So are you REALLY trying to suggest that because white British men also occasionally commit acts of domestic violence, we shouldn't be overly concerned about these religious leaders condoning and promoting this sort of thing in there own communities?

‘Occasionally’???!

It’s not remotely cryptic OP. It’s a statement of fact. Anyway, do tell me more about how no so-called Christian leaders promote this sort of behavior and how good old UK men only “occasionally” indulge in it.

Really! How many followers does this chap (that no-one but you has ever heard of) and his fringe religious niche have in the UK exactly?

You seem to be doing everything you can to excuse and deflect from the domestic violence, rape and assault of vulnerable women as promoted and approved by these Islamic Imams. And by doing so, you are likely complicit in this behaviour being allowed to continue.
