Are we all looking forward to David Lammy becoming PM?

There's no way Starmer can survive this latest scandal.

Lord Mandelson failed his security vetting for the US ambassador job, but he still got the post anyway.

Starmer stood up in Parliament last September and insisted "full due process" was followed — three times.

He therefore either misled parliament and has to resign under the Ministerial Code, or his advisors have misled him and parliament, which is likely a criminal matter and suggests a level of almost unbelievable government incompetence or corruption.

What great things are you hoping this country will achieve under PM Lammy?

It’s more gossip. For that to be a breach they’d need evidence of the trust terms, how the valuation was done & whether independent advice or consent was involved. None of that is public, so they can’t possibly conclude it was a breach. only that it would be if their version of events is accurate.

I think it was made public? The house price sale will anyway and the ownership will be on the Land Registry. I think she herself confirmed what happened too. It was in the Telegraph in detail from recollection so I suspect they won't have made it up.

The fiduciary duty of a trustee not to act when they have a conflict of interest won't be changed by the terms of the trust. And they have to act in the best interests of a beneficiary which probably won't mean selling a deliberately over valued share of a house to the trust.

What I do not get is why this is getting momentum now, when it had already being published, surely back in September 2025
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/mandelson-epstein-starmer-us-ambassador-trump-b2824777.html

And then, again, Feb 2026. A simple google search will show, including the BBC itself.

It was already out when Starmer said all due process had been followed BS, in Parliament.

And now he has the nerve to fire the civil servant who he has decided to blame for it.
Well.... why would a simple civil servant over rule protocol? Particularly such a sensitive matter. Because an order from above. There is no doubt.
The one that needs to be fired is, indeed, Starmer.
And the MI6 needs to check why on Earth Trump's manosphere and Starmer were so effing adamant to get Mandelson as US ambassador. More assets insider trade? More of our money diverted to pay for their kinks and expensive things?
Enough is enough!
All these rich Epstein guys have the one thing in common, whether paedophiles or in it for the money, they think they are so above the rest of us that they are immune and can get away with anything and everything. Look at Andrew, for example.
In the meantime.... here we are paying huge amounts for fuel, housing, education, food, taxes and what else!

Concerns Mandelson failed M16 vetting for US ambassador – but was appointed anyway

The prime minister is facing serious questions after claims he ignored warnings from the security services to appoint Peter Mandelson as US ambassador

Poll finds just 16% of people think Keir Starmer is honest - Boris Johnson was on 13% just before he resigned

Yes I do agree that BJs immigration policies were terrible and I hope KS supports Mahmood's extension of the period to qualify for RTR. I suspect he will give in to the lunatic backbenchers though.

But the rest of the criticism of BJ means that the same standards need to be applied to KS. Remember...KS said that ignorance was no excuse for eating cake during covid. So ignorance is also no excuse for appointing someone who is a threat to national security surely? Which was worse in your opinion..eating a piece of cake or giving state secrets to Epstein to pass to the Russians?

Oh dear... you don't know how vetting works do you....

Its about management, can the risk be managed and no one would go through this procedure if the results and ones private life passed to all and sundry.

Have you evidence Epstein was a Russian spy? Bojo promoted, into the Lords "Russians" with KGB credentials..... & took millions from the KGB to fund the Tory party...

Do you think that money was given with no favours asked?

Angela Raynor.

Labour have been just as bad if not worse than the Conservatives. Hence why everyone is fed up of politicians. And hence why having previously binned the Conservatives I have decided to potentially vote for them again as I think Kemi, whatever other faults she may have, is honest and trustworthy.

Has Rayner been held to account for breaches in the trust arrangement? i believe as the courts were involved in the set-up, they will be very interested to hear your evidence on this....

Badenoch was part of the Tory Government for 5 years, she was part of that particular circus.

...plus she is so honest, she hacked a fellow MPs website, a criminal offence if she did it again.

Luckily the Tories can't even get 20% in current polling, so you might not get your wish.

The courts can't just randomly involve themselves. That's not how the law works.

Im just repeating what our glorious leader said! Thats all! He said ignorance of wrong doing is no excuse with regard to Boris J and partygate. Im simply applying the same high standards to KS's own behaviour. If we didn't we would all be hypocrites surely?

Yes but 31 percent don't know, and less than half of left wing voters of any colour think he was dishonest. Given Tories and Reform were never going to support or vote for him....

Then if thats true, did the security services say that the risk could be "managed" to whoever allegedly didnt tell KS that Pm had failed vetting? If uou don't know why say it.

Tell us more about the millions from the KGB as that's something many of us didnt realise!

You’re mixing things that are public (sale price, ownership) with things that aren’t (trust terms, advice taken, how the valuation was reached). Without all those you can’t conclude there was a breach.

If were as obvious as you’re suggesting, it wouldn’t just be a newspaper story, it would likely have led to legal action or formal findings. Neither of those has happened, which tells you the facts definitely aren’t established.

MyLuckyHelper · 17/04/2026 20:31

@Pineneedlesincarpet the same Kemi badenoch who was minister for women at the time the Jay report was published and implemented precisely 0 of the recommendations? If that’s honest and trustworthy, you can keep it.

Hiya. I haven't attempted to smear Badenoch. I have actually said absolutely nothing about her one way or the other.

Pineneedles asked pp to expand on the story. I gave her a link in the spirit of helpfulness, thinking she might not have ever heard about it.

Yes I have read the article. It was a very foolish thing that she did. It is not a smear to say that.

Ha ha thats why i said take your evidence of fraud to the court that set up the trust?

Oh you haven't got any of wrong doing....

so just further smears... unlike the Badenoch hack, that actually did happen and if done today, with the change in the law, would have be a criminal offence... honest and trustworthy.... 😂

Funny how the right wing scream "non story" of things that happened... must be their version of "Alternative facts" 🙄

Kingdomofsleep · 18/04/2026 07:37

I think the main point of the Kemi Badenoch "hacking" story, which I think happened before she was a minister, was highlighting how easy it was to guess Harman's password and thereby gain access. It was a prank that served the purpose of highlighting her, Harman's, website's bad security. Stuff like that should be harder to break into and it was negligent of Harman's office.

I think "hacking" isn't the right word for what happened. It was more "wow look this door is unlocked! Let's draw moustaches on the pictures"

Kingdomofsleep · 18/04/2026 07:40

I'd hope that that experience would have led Harman's office to tighten their security on everything and thereby, indirectly, done her a favour in the long run

Oh yes blame the victim... why the hacking in """ ? it happened, its not as a pp said a non story.

If Badenoch was so concerned, she should have gone to the security services or the cabinet office, it was not Badenochs job to hack Govt ministers websites, she was a non exec director & worked full time for the RBS....

Harman was a senior Govt minister at the time, try doing it today and see what happens.....

"Did her a favour..." i've heard it all now...

Insurance companies do not pay out if you have something stolen but you left your place unlocked. Is that victim blaming, or stupidity-blaming?

Now let's say you left your front door wide open and the alarms off. A Frenemy walks in and writes on your window for everyone to see "KEMI WAS HERE LOLZ" but doesn't actually steal anything. You think, whoops, next time I better lock up! Yep, she's done you a favour there

Yep. It was as easy as that, and HH laughed it off. It’s posters on here who ramp it up.

Your next post is correct too. Incredible how things get embellished so much.

Kingdomofsleep · 18/04/2026 07:57

The point is that the stuff she wrote on that website was so ridiculous it was obviously a prank highlighting bad security. If she'd wanted to be malicious she could have (say) announced an unpopular policy or something more believable that would have actually harmed HH's reputation

Yep and she didn’t come out with some nonsense thing when asked the question. And surprised at people going crazy over a prank. Shows how people buy and spread stuff.
